PS5 showcase recap: Everything you need to know

PlayStation 5 revealed, great new PS5 games, and takeaways from today's PS5 showcases.

That’s a wrap! Today was an exciting day for gamers around the world, as the PlayStation 5 showcase granted us our first look at PS5 games under development… and culminated with the reveal of the PS5 system itself.

Actually, two PS5 systems.

PlayStation 5

At PS5’s launch, we will offer two options: a PlayStation®5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation®5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is all yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that’s bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation.

PlayStation 5PlayStation 5

On the software side, the industry’s most talented developers unveiled a lineup of games that will define PS5 when it launches this holiday. Grand Theft Auto V started the party, revealing an expanded and enhanced edition due to hit PS5 in 2021.

PlayStation Studios also served up a massive buffet of extraordinary PlayStation 5 game reveals (read details here) totaling nine titles. It kicked off with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales — the next chapter in the acclaimed partnership between the legendary studio and Marvel Games and is due out for PS5 this holiday. Insomniac also revealed Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a galaxy-hopping new PS5 adventure in the fan-favorite Insomniac series.

Our friends at Guerrilla gave us a breathtaking first look at Horizon Forbidden West for PlayStation 5, a gorgeous new adventure set in a distant land ravaged by massive storms. And Polyphony Digital dropped by to unveil Gran Turismo 7 as The Real Driving Simulator prepares for a new generation of PlayStation hardware.

And I know you’re excited about Demon’s Souls, a gorgeous PS5 remake from Bluepoint Games and Japan Studio.

When creating a new console, it’s essential to invite bright, talented independent developers into the process early. And it was inspiring to see such a wide array of innovative new indie titles showcased. Let’s just list them out:

  • Bugsnax from Young Horses
    • A whimsical, narrative-driven adventure from the creators of Octodad. Investigate the mysterious Snacktooth Island, home of the legendary half-bug, half-snack creatures.
  • Goodbye Volcano High from Ko_op
    • A cinematic narrative game that touches on love, friendship, and self-realization in the final days of civilization.
  • Jett: The Far Shore from Superbrothers + Pine Scented
    • A bittersweet interstellar trip to a mythic oceanic planet in a narrative-driven action adventure, featuring an emotional mix of storytelling and world exploration.
  • Kena: Bridge of Spirits from Ember Lab
    • A story-driven action adventure game combining exploration and discovery with fast-paced combat.
  • Little Devil Inside from Neostream Interactive
    • Set in a “Victorian-like” era, embark on dangerous missions to gain evidence and findings for your employer, a mysterious professor.
  • Oddworld: Soulstorm from Oddworld Inhabitants
    • A major visual and cinematic lead for the celebrated series, with intelligent new gameplay mechanics and twisted new devices to enable explosive deviousness.
    • From Oddworld Inhabitants: “Oddworld: Soulstorm’s scope and scale are larger than we have tackled before. We plan to use PS5’s stunning graphic fidelity, mind-blowing 3D audio, and the DualSense controller to enhance our storytelling and artistic abilities to bring you closer to the game and to create an even deeper emotional Oddworld experience…”
  • The Pathless from Giant Squid / Annapurna
    • The mythic tale of an archer and an eagle in a vast forest who venture to a mystical island to dispel a curse of darkness.
  • Stray from BlueTwelve Studio / Annapurna
    • A little cat in a futuristic walled city, devoid of life, befriends a sentient drone. The cat must find its way home, and perhaps help the city along the way.
  • Solar Ash from Heart Machine / Annapurna
    • A journey through a surreal and vivid world filled with mystery, endearing characters, and massive enemy encounters across a vast open world.

PlayStation’s third-party partners also brought in some big new PS5 titles. Let’s take a look:

  • Grand Theft Auto V from Rockstar Games
    • From Rockstar: “Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5 will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the console’s powerful new hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever. Plus, a new standalone version of Grand Theft Auto Online will be also available, free for three months exclusively on PlayStation 5.” (PlayStation Plus required for online multiplayer)
  • Ghostwire: Tokyo from Tango Gameworks / Bethesda Softworks
    • From Bethesda: “From Shinji Mikami and the team at Tango Gameworks comes Ghostwire: Tokyo, a next-gen action-adventure game coming to consoles exclusively for PlayStation 5 in 2021. Tango Gameworks has taken full advantage of the power of the PS5’s next-gen hardware to create a stunning, immersive, and mysterious world to experience. Explore the streets of a city filled with spirits and mysterious otherworldly threats, with an arsenal of powerful abilities at your command.”
  • Godfall from Counterplay Games
    • From Counterplay Games: “You are the last of the Valorian knights, god-like warriors able to equip Valorplates, legendary armor sets that transform wielders into unstoppable masters of melee combat. Players will tear through foes as they climb through some of the elemental realms…. We’re still hard at work and can’t wait for players to experience Godfall when it makes its console debut on PS5 and launches on PC this holiday season.”
  • Project Athia from Luminous Productions / Square Enix
    • “Project Athia is the culmination of our philosophy here at Luminous Productions to create completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuse together the latest technologies with art. With the PS5, our vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.”
  • Hitman 3 from IO Interactive
    • From IO Interactive: “Hitman 3 is the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy and will put you back into the shoes (and stylish suit) of Agent 47, a ruthless professional assassin who must take on the most important contracts of his career.”
  • NBA 2K21 from 2K Sports
    • 2K Sports stopped by to give us an eye-popping first look at pre-alpha PS5 development footage of NBA 2K21.
  • Deathloop from Arkane Studios / Bethesda Softworks
    • From Arkane Studios: “With stunning and stylish environments, memorable combat encounters, and the freedom to tackle each mission at any pace and with any approach you choose, this is Arkane like you’ve never seen (or felt) it before, built with next-gen in mind. Deathloop is being developed for a new generation of hardware and will launch on console exclusively for PlayStation 5.”
  • Resident Evil Village from Capcom
    • From Capcom: “…the fear of dark corners has been replaced with the anxiety of the unknown as Ethan searches for answers within decrepit buildings among snow-covered trees. The return of a first-person perspective will bring a visceral edge to combat… With a greater focus on combat and exploration compared to Resident Evil 7, the village itself is just as important a character as any other, a location with a life of its own that will frequently keep you on edge as you discover its secrets.”
  • Pragmata from Capcom
    • Capcom also gave us a first look at a thought-provoking PS5 game called Pragmata.
PlayStation 5

Phew! There’s a lot to look forward to this holiday. From all of us here at PlayStation, thanks for joining us on this PS5 journey. We’re incredibly excited about the next chapter, and we’ll have more details to share about PS5 and the broader PlayStation ecosystem as we close in on launch this holiday.

PlayStation 5 – The Future of Gaming

  • Stunning design!

    • Agreed! But why WOULDN’T someone just opt for a disc drive? How much will the price really differ? Why limit yourself?

Too bad the Sackboy game wasn’t mentioned, he’s quite the PS mascot.

But more importantly, how soon until we see these exclusives on PC? 1 year? 5 years? I have a huge backlog so might have to wait and invest in a powerful PC down the line.

    • Celebrate Black Lives Matter with a white console. Thus gonna be good Sony.

    • @shadowynd you don’t celebrate a death you buffoon, and it sure has nothing to do with the color black but with the race, two completely seperate things….

Every lil incopetent has a thing to say now..

    • @ shadowynd I really hope this is just your sad idea of trolling, because if you really believe the crap spewing out of your mouth right now you need serious help.

    • اريد نقل كل العاب Ps4 على ps5 دون شراءها ارجوكم حققو طلبي

    • @shadowynd, Can you not see the dual-tone plus blue, it has both black & white in it? Come ON! & — I think you forgot about the Miles-Moralas Game. A black-superhero is perfect Just like LOGIC song BlackSpider-Man

[Spider-Verse movie dream come true as well]

    • @ZanFear

I agree, the disc-less PS5 will likely be $50 or so cheaper than the model with the disc. If the price difference is that insubstantial, then you are setting yourself up for a generation of regret if you ever want to play a disc.

    • @ZanFear Why would they? Digital games are getting more and more popular despite being more expensive with some recent titles selling more digital than physical. This is of course partially due to COVID-19, but the writing is on the wall.

The cost of a Blu-Ray drive to us is just a few dollars and to Sony, even less than that. But the reality is that digital games have a very high mark up so I wouldn’t be surprised if the digital edition was heavily discounted in an effort to tempt people into the digital only ecosystem. But me personally, I’ll be getting the edition with the Blu-Ray drive. I’m not ready to ditch my physical games just yet.

    • Im all about the digital release. All the ps4 games I’ve bought the past 2 years have been digitally.

    • PS5 is physically the biggest console ever. Its just gone and dwarfed the PS4 Pro. I was hoping it to be smaller then it is.

    • I can’t wait till the lunch of ps5

    • Digital looks great Vertical and disk version look great Horizontal.
Think we’ll see a $100USD difference between the two

  • Looks great! Just need a price and when we can buy it!

  • Really didn’t expect to see this revealed at the end of the showcase. A very pleasant surprise! Such a beautiful looking console.

  • Pragmata looks like what I wanted from DS and the first teaser Kojima had for his company

  • It was a pretty strong lineup. Good presentation. But launching with GTA5 confuses me. Are you suggesting that the ps4 version isn’t compatible?

    • I guess what they’re saying is that it will be upgraded for the PS5. Which is a good thing. Backwards compatibility would only give you a better, possibly. This should be a more significant upgrade.
If I understand correctly, it will also feature new content.

    • It will this is probably just an extended version to get more money out of you – buy the game again in ps5 to get 4 more missions and a handful of vehicles.

    • I miss the edit button from the EU blog :/
That last comment was supposed to say “better framerate”.

    • It’s an enhanced edition. We’ve seen this kind of thing many times before. It’s not complicated.

    • I was confused about starting with GTA5, too. Come on – this game was available for the PS3, for crying out loud – and you’re bragging about new content for the PS5, while showing PS4 footage? I didn’t feel it…but then, I’ve never played much GTA, but having it first spoke more to the power of GTA5 than to Playstation.

FWIW…I tried 5, but can’t get past the opening – the first time you drive, the controls are so painful, I can’t imagine playing a whole game of that.

  • That thing is like a work of art. Truly gorgeous design.

  • The worst/ugliest console and controller design i’ve ever seen.

    • Ughh…

      PS3 boomerang
      Wii console and remote/nunchuck
      Wii U gamepad
      Virtual Boy
      OG Xbox controller
      OG Xbox “X” prototype console
N64 controller (don’t try to defend this thing)

      I’m sure I’m missing a few

    • PS5 design is still an abomination to me. It looks so out of place. Especially next to the previous PS designs. The Wii design was simple and looks alright. So you’re crazy, sanguinary guy.

    • I think the console looks great it’s about time we had a console on sale that adds to your room rather than something you want to hide in a draw lol

    • I think that’s their point. They wanted it to stand out from what they’ve done before. But you’re entitled to your opinion, I’m not trying to change it. I’m not sold on it either necessarily, I just think there’s been way worse design-wise.

    • Have fun with the console then. I’ll stick to the older ones.

    • Trolls not welcome

    • You’re the troll. Get out.

    • Haha, sanguinary. PS3 boomerang still gives me nightmares. Absolutely hate the WiiU pad design as well and never was a fan of the Xbox controllers, but N64?! I mean, come on! That thing was brilliant, the only controller to make epic shooters like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark work perfectly, WITH 1 JOYSTICK. My second favorite controller after DS3 :)
As for DualSense, my least favorite so far, not a fan of them getting bigger all the time.

    • Jeez, I forgot the boomerang ever existed (even as a concept).

    • So…let me get this straight….you’re going to skip this generation because YOU DONT LIKE HOW THE CONSOLE LOOKS PHYSICALLY? Haha. You have absolutely no room to be calling anyone else names here little dude.

    • @Ralstonizer Okay, you fool. I never said that. But i’m skipping this generation for good reasons. For one, I can’t freaking afford a new console. Second, there’s nothing exciting about the PS5 imo. Plus console generations are only getting worse from here. Trust me, I would accept the garbage looking PS5 if it was free.

    • Kid is trying to back peddle and get out of it now. The Troll got got.

    • @sonic171000 – Just to let you know you’re not alone in part of what you say.The controller is extremely ugly yes and yes the generations are only getting worse,we saw phenomenal games on the PS4 but the gen was a disaster and I figure the PS5 will be worse.Hopefully not but we’ll see.

    • You cant afford a PS5, so naturally its the PS5’s fault and its obviously sucks….all because YOU cant afford to buy one. Isnt that a rather immature way of looking at things?

    • si no te gusta no la compre :v

  • Incredible event, incredible games and incredible looking console! Thank you for this amazing showcase :)

  • Very futuristic not a boring old box 😴…good job sony now where that price at im cling $600 with disc drive and $500 digital only now bet it up 💯

    • I am guessing a $50 difference between the each system

    • If it’s only $50 then I’m definitely getting the drive version and if it’s more… I’m probably still getting the drive version.
I woudn’t mind going all digital if the game prices weren’t 30% higher than physical.

    • Hello …. stunning design… how about the price and releasing date ?

    • @realchampion84 expect a release date of November 20th of this year—-Sony put the controller release date as November 20th, so thats probably when we will see the console released. I cant imagine Sony would let you buy a replacement controller for a console that hasnt been released.

  • Hopefully all that stuff comes in black too.

  • He wrote that there were 9 titles from PlayStation Studios but only listed Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon: Forbidden West, and Demon’s Souls. Two that weren’t listed here were Sackboy: A Big Adventure & Astro’s Playroom but what are the other two? Is Returnal by Housemarque a Playstation Studios game?

    • Destruction Allstars was the other one, I just looked it up!

So the four Playstation Studios games Sid didn’t mention here are:

      Sackboy: A Big Adventure
      Astro’s Playroom
      Destruction Allstars

    • Returnal is yes and Destruction AllStars. I’m not sure they own the studios making these two but they seem to be publishing them at least.

    • Yeah I was wondering the same thing: where’s the PlayStation Studios list at, Sid?

    • Yeah that Sackboy game looked awesome. Also I think Returnal is published by Sony as the YouTube trailer has the PlayStation studios logo at the beginning. So similar deal to Resogun I imagine

    • Well they didn’t put Returnal, Sackboy, and Destruction Allstars under third-party. That is pretty telling.

  • Great Show Sony!!!!

  • Thanks for the recap sidney and team.

  • The PS5 design looks really nice and refreshing. My only question though: Can we put PS5 sideways?

    • Vanlischtenstein

In Playstation Istagram they showed it sideways. Even here in the Blog there is a picture of it

    • Yes if you look at the end of the stream where it show flashes of the games again it shows it on its side just after the flash back of res evil

    • They would be mad to not allow it to be put sideways.I’d say the vast majority use their PS sideways.

    • Will this be backwards compatible to play 1 – 5 games if not I won’t be buying this

  • Love the idea of a digital platform, brave thinking. Worried about being locked into PS Store prices though so wouldn’t mind some incentives to swing me, plus I’d have to wave goodbye to my Blu-Ray movie collection. But still, interested, see it as a big step forward rather than a negative :)

    • Don’t you remember the all digital Playstation Portable?

I also would hate to be locked into the store sales. Though it might be different in different regions, digital prices even in sales don’t come close to the cheapness of physical.

You’d also be locked out of using any physical PS4 titles (and possibly unable to use disks that come with “collectors editions”) and be unable to sell any game. Plus the slight but always there risk of losing access if the store goes down.

    • JamieBhoyBoom998

I’m impressed with everything I’ve always bought the physical discs but I might try digital platform in terms of style best looking games console ever it will look better in black with the blue lights I’m especially looking forward to Spider-man:Miles Morales which is a sequel spin off and Spider-Man 2 will come out in 2022 I have 1 question What’s happening With the new Batman video game that’s suppose to come out this year ?

    • Physical all the way! Can easily trade and play my brother’s games, don’t have to put strain on my network downloading games all the time and just the peace of mind of actually, physically owning it. As long as we get a choice and aren’t compelled one way or the other, it’s all good :)

    • @MiseryPrincess you’ve never heard of a USB DVD drive?

    • @ heatm1ser2k20

That probably wouldn’t help much on a Blu Ray playing console. 😜

Anyway, that would maybe be an option, but it would depend on Sony supporting it. However, USB UHD Blu Ray drives aren’t exactly cheap, or fast compared to a normal built in drive.

  • So many female protags. How did they manage to pull a gender swap on Ratchet and Clank?

  • Ugh. D-. Not enough actual gameplay. No where near enough information about the console. Ugly as sin. Launching with 2 SKUs. No date. No price. Ersatz Spider-Man. Horizon looked good. All-black version when? Because I’m not putting that two-tone abomination in my entertainment center.

    • Someone’s going to get rich selling replacement face plates.

    • PatronusDraconis

I hope there is an all black version for both the controller and the console.

I’m not a fan of this dual-toned design as well.

    • yea, gdc never happened…

ugly? did you ever see the wiiu, 32x, jaguar, xbox, xbox one, xbox x, etc, etc?

  • Awesome design! I loved it!

  • PatronusDraconis

That was a fantastic showing Sony! Loved it! :)

  • When can we expect the price and release date to be announced?

  • Please let there be an option where we can have it in Black! Don’t like the white, so please consider also to feature it in black as well.

    • Every Black console I’ve owned turns out to be a noticeable dust magnet. Sony did good here, with two tone.

I think they will release a Black PS5 closer to release date.

  • dragdev12345yuio

no cpu socket, reballing cpu chip !!
APU bad chip !! good consol ,nice

  • thank you sony for makeing my life great with ps4 and now ps5 (bthw its fire🔥🔥)

  • I was screaming for the most part. This was exciting, invigorating, full of life, diverse, and outright entertaining. What a great showcase for games. My boy Miles OMG I cant wait!!!

  • It was incredible, what a show ! Simply amazing !
And that PS5 design, so futuristic, so beautiful !

  • Beast mode!!!! Man love the console trailer Reminds me of the Lazarus pit and from arrow and gave a Egyptian type vibe!!! Make sure you guys give let’s go digital a High 5 for being the closest to guessing the design lol but seriously it was totally unexpected dark about redefining what a console looks like up definitely going to need to get a taller stand for my TV because this thing is not being laid down flat at all and don’t worry I am a fan of the new and unique 2 tone design! Bravo sony! I plan to get everything in the list above although I think I might actually go all digital for the 1st time ever! Still undecided!

    • Remember a digital only console would lock you to the PS store.

Which means PS store prices, and being at the mercy of sales to get games cheaper. Digital games even on sale are great more expensive than physical (and you can’t sell them if you do such things).

    • MiseryPrincess yah that is the choice you get to make, I have gone full digital on my PS4 and haven’t looked back and also PlayStation store prices are same as hard copies when new games come out as well I have seen many digital games over the years on PS4 much cheaper then any disc copy when on sale. Also you don’t pay taxes on digital copies too!

    • It might be different where you’re from but over here (Poland) you can usually buy new physical games on launch day significantly cheaper than the digital versions.
      I mean like a 30% difference.
That’s the only thing that keeps me from going mostly digital.

    • Just noticed what you said about taxes for digital games. That’s definitely an US thing and not true for Europe ;)

    • It’s probably a regional thing. Here physical copies are much, much cheaper and digital sales on the EU region store are often a bad joke (usually it’s the same few games only, for not so great discounts). You can find games like DoA6 on disk for $6.99, whereas the cheapest it’s been digitally is $20.99. Release games here are usually $10-20 more expensive digitally (for some reason).

Remember too, with no competition at all, Sony would have a monopoly. So if everyone goes digital, more than likely digital prices would go up.

    • Definitely a regional thing. For example where I live, in Belarus, we don’t have a home region for PS Store, so for me it’s pretty much a simple choice: either buy from the US-region store or buy physical imported from Russia. Even when I buy a full-priced $59.99 game from the US PSN, it’s still always $5-$15 cheaper than what those Russian disks cost in our Belarusian video game retails.

  • I saw a size comparison on Neogaf. I’m not sure if it’s real, but if it is, it’s way larger than the PS4 Pro.

    • it looks that way right ? even with the new controller beside it for comparison too.

    • I wouldn’t mind it being larger than PS4. It may be that the cooling is better and perhaps not as loud. Can always wish

    • Yeah I’m not going to be happy if the PS5 dwarfs my gigantic and noisy PS4 Pro.

You can already tell the PS5 is going to be huge. Just look at the Disc slot, and do a comparison to the overall size.

  • Another vote for an all black design. The white looks like a weird sandwich and a bit breakable..

    • A Black PS5 is a dust magnet. You would spend all day cleaning it, considering its the biggest console ever made😉

  • There’s only one thing I needed to know, and it wasn’t there: SOCOM.

  • Excited to see the new stuff that’s coming but sad that I probably won’t be able to get in on the party for quite a while after launch. *shakes fist at Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour*

  • You expect us to pay for GTA V for the 3rd time? You absolute robbing turkeys. -100 points for Sony

  • Beautiful design, even if the optical drive feels like an after thought and a cancerous tumor. Hopefully the 2nd generation model will do something about that. Thank you for including optical, waiting 3 hours to download a 100+ gig game would have been torture for something that takes 45 minutes to install with a bluray disc.

Never been happier to see a charging dock for the controller. Not sure about the contacts given how bad the move controller was with this, but I’m onboard.

curious about ports on the system. I noticed a USB-C port on the front and a Type A connector. Interesting choice, why the variance?

Please let there be two usb ports on the back this time.

Is the new headset dongle free or will I have to compromise a USB port again?

Is there a reason we are not getting a look at the back of the console? Is this due to PSVR2?

I assume the new Camera will be compatible with PS4/VR games? Will the PS5 camera be included in the box this time or is this something we’re waiting on microsofts price point over first?

    • Thumbs up for calling out the optical drive a cancerous tumor, which seems to be the intention of this design. Sony can wait to eliminate disc drives soon enough and monopolize pricing via PS Store. So yeah disc drive is indeed a cancerous for their earnings :)

    • The USB A ports are for keyboard and mouse connections. I think they’ve designed this to also stand on a desk connected to a 4K monitor With keyboard and mouse. Kind of how a PC gaming rig is setup. Sony is going to try and pull PC gamers with this one.

  • Can we please have a decent size hard drive!! So tired of deleting games to download new ones! a couple terabytes would be nice!!

    • The drive size has already been announced at 825GB.

Though apparently the games will be smaller.

    • 825GB drive comes with it and PS5 games must be installed on it. They said shortly after we should see compatible expansion drives on the market that could also be used to store the PS5 games. External USB drives are too slow for PS5 games. Also they said games will be smaller because developers no longer need to make several copies of the same asset and spread across the drive, since there’s no seek time on the drive it’s instantaneous.

  • Black PS5 console must happen. Black with he blue lights us perfect.

  • I just wonder if it support hdmi 2.1 vrr and allm also dolby atmos

  • I’ve got big library of physical PS4 games. Was wondering, if I went for the digital PS5 model, would the fact that they’re in my current PlayStation Library let me play them on a digital only platform? Million other questions too but that’s the biggest for me.

    • I would assume it will work just like it does now You either buy digital or physical if you own physical then you need to have the disk inserted or you can’t play it. So I would guess if you go for the digital version you will have to buy the digital version of your favourite games.

    • Not going to happen. Given that they didn’t mention backwards compatibility throughout the presentation shows where their priorities are. They would like you to forget that you had a PS4 library(except some very barebones Back Compat) and start buying games again.

To be fair even XBox, which is much more customer friendly in terms of backwards compatibility, also doesn’t allow this with their all digital console.

    • yes I’m assuming all your pre purchased games should show up, thats also how u will get the free upgraded version when u download it to the system!

    • You can plug in an external hard drive with your ps4 games on it. It is backwards compatible with ps4 games. You can also download the ps4 game onto the ps5 hard drive from the external drive.

  • Can we put ps5 sideway? I think ps5 is too tall for my tv cabinets. I’ll want ps5 disc version :)

    • Yes you can, with the addition of a weird stand.

Not sure if it’s included or not.

    • Also I just realized that you can’t put a disc version PS5 horizontal flush against the surface (if you refer how the sideways PS5 is shown on instagram). Maybe you would need to put it upside down. What an absurd console design!

I may need to hide it out of sight given how strange it looks. But then no exclusive shown today appealed to me, so yeah it will stay hidden out of sight anyways. It might be worth a wait for them to fix inevitable launch hardware issues, release an all black version and get some good exclusives.

  • Why the custom casing? Why not just manufacture some standard PC tower cases, no need for extra costs to manufacture… Could have saved plenty of money using standard PC towers.

  • Everything looks GREAT!!! When can we get the price and start pre-ordering the console???

  • Sony c’mon now. Why y’all making me clear my credit cards again. Jeez Louise those systems are Sexy!

  • Can I see images of the back? Curious at what ports are available there. You have only one USBA slot, one USBMicro and one expansion slot on the front. I want to know how the VR, Camera, HDMI, other ports connect in the back to prepare my entertainment system. Plus I want to know about it’s backward compatibility and UI which I thought we saw the warning and initial screens in the video as a teaser.

  • I was blown away, thank you for an awesome event, the console looks amazing. I just need a price so I can save up to get one on launch. So many tasty games I want on day one.

  • Is there going to be an optical port ?

  • did they say how much and when it’ll be released?

  • I am torn between the two designs. I have gone pure digital on my PS4 this time around (my PS3 was all disc games) and I will go full digital for the PS5, but I have to say the digital looks much sleeker and sexier design compared to the big slot / hump on the disc version, but I would love to have the option to play Blu-ray movies as well. We need more high resolution photos with different angle both horizontal and vertical position. Maybe that will help me decide on a version to buy. Thank you again Sony for showing off the system and accessions today.

  • I quite like the design I must say! I wonder if the vertical stand is gonna be included, or is going to be sold separately.

  • Let’s be honest right, E3 aint never coming back after this right?

    • I need PS5 as a birthday gift 🎁

    • After all of the confrences the companies have done or are planning to do it shows that at least the larger developers do not need E3. Nintendo has been doing well with their Directs. Sony has been doing good with their occasional online events and did great the other night. Microsoft kinda stumbled out of the gate but I think will get better . And Ubisoft/Bethesda will do well also if Bethesda decides to do an online event.

If E3 wants to continue after COVID that’s cool but the only companies/developers that need it are smaller ones that do not have the name recognition that Sony/Ubi/MS/Bethesda/ Nintendo has.

  • Exotic, daring… I like.

  • Love the look , Im ready to get one
