  • What are the free PS Plus games for March?

    • Yeah Ihad thought that would be in the state of play

    • Since I started freelancing I’ve been bringing in (((($)))90 bucks/h… I sit at home and i am doing my work from my laptop. Th℮ best thing is that i get more time to spent with my family and with my kids and in the same time i can earn enough to support them…You can do it too. Start here——

  • Where’s the March Plus games reveal? You do know they have to be available this tuesday?

    • Very surprised the announcement did not come out yesterday (as per tradition) or even in the State of Play. The Play At Home initiative does not replace the PS+ line-up.

  • Disappointed 😞

  • March Ps+ games please

  • I was pretty pleased with the show, I’m ready for Returnal Day 1. Oddworld being PS+ is great because I fear I wouldn’t have given it a fair shot otherwise, so for me it will help with the wait for Returnal.

Of course, I’m really excited that we got to see more Kena and a release date. Honestly, Security Breach was the only thing I’ll be hard passing on. My only disappointment is that it seems today is not the day where we get to look forward to PS+ games for March.

    • I also agree state of play isn’t the big Sony announcements so I did not have expectations. So I thought it was pretty good.

  • Snoooore…
You guys are so out of touch with the audience. Only a small selection of playstation gamers are asking for any of these things. Kena was supposed to be in March, so the best thing we got was basically a delay announcement. Sure, people like FF7, but intergrade means we have to wait even longer for part 2 of remake to come out. The Crash info was all given to us before this State of Play. Nothing to see here. Each one of these so called “deep dives” should have just been individual blog posts, instead of getting us hyped for a new State of Play. Get it together.

    • Dude the world is in lockdown due to COVID so Kena needs more time. Get over it. Putting these things in a State of Play gets more eyes on it than just putting up blog posts.

    • I understand the need for delays, but call it what it is. Announcing the release date and pretending like it wasn’t slated for a Q1 release is like pretending that people who do care about this game are either stupid or don’t pay attention to stuff like that.

    • Just stop with the “I speak for everyone nonsense”. You have no idea what other gamers wanna play. You might only be interested in cod gameplay but there are alot of us wanting all type of games. And nothing giant is ever revelead in february, if you were hoping for big reveals its your own fault

    • I certainly don’t claim to speak for everyone. I only feel that most of the games featured in this State of Play appeal to select audiences. IMO this strategy only works so far. I love that there was something small for everyone to appreciate, but I think State of Play showcases should at least have one or two major reveals. The big, marquee titles featured in this one had two major caveats: Kena getting a release date is great, but they should have called it what it is (delayed), and FF7R on PS5 looks great, and we’re getting it on PS Plus next month (but only the PS4 version – with no upgrade path). It just feels clumsy, incomplete, and almost a little sneaky to me. How about an update on Horizon: Forbidden West, GoW 2, TLOU: Factions, or TLOU pt. 2 on PS5 (patch or remaster), or so many others? I hope the next State of Play is more satisfying for me, personally. I’m glad that there is stuff being announced and we are getting a closer look at some games, but I believe the general consensus is that this State of Play didn’t quite live up to expectations.

p.s. I don’t even play CoD, but even a teaser for the next entry would have added something that appeals to a wider audience.

  • Save Japan Studio

    • Knack 3, baybee!!!

    • OH WOW JUST READ THE NEWS. SUCH A TRAVESTY! Japan Studio was one of Sony’s golden developers. It really puts Sony’s image with the future of PS5 in question to me. Getting rid of Japan Studio, while porting exclusives to PC. Must be about the $.

    • Soo, the only Japanese studio left is the one who just makes Gran Turismo over and over and over.

Meanwhile there’s 10 US studios who mostly make sequels.

Seems like a great plan for a
wide variety of exciting and different experiences.

  • This was sorely disappointing…. PS5 upgrades for existing games doesn’t really deserve this hype, they’ve been coming for months already :p

  • I wish you’d stop saying “deep dive” on everything.

It doesn’t seem to actually mean anything, and it’s kind of annoying seeing it used constantly. Come up with some new phrases maybe?

  • I feel as though the majority of this State of Play could have just been featured in a Blog Post.

Not a bad presentation but not worth dedicating an hour of watch time for.

    • You must be on a different planet, because on my watch it clocked in at under thirty minutes…

    • You could say anything could be a blog post. The point of putting them in a State of Play is to get more eyes on the games. There were probably over 1 million live viewers. That many people wouldn’t have gone to a PS Blog post to see what Sifu was. Much better idea to do it the way they are doing it.

  • I guess i was overhyped for this “State of Play”. I expected more. Outside of Returnal, which has a lot of potential but already had a launch date, I was underwhelmed. PS5 updates and niche games like Oddworld, Solar Ash and Dodgeball, arent why i look forward to “State of Play”.

Its better to save games like Sifu for surprise releases, its too one note to have justice done for it in a trailer months out.

Ive heard enough about Deathloop at his point and the FFVIIR announcement was a cruel tease.

That really just leaves Kena. Which was worthy of its spot. Im not sure if im interested in it, but it was the kind of trailer i like seeing during “State of Play”

The show could have gone out on a high by including the PS Plus announcements, but we didnt get that, either.

Come on Playstation. You can do better.

“State of Play” either needs to be on regular intervals….then it can be more uneventful, like this one….or saved for sets of bigger announcements.

Think about it — Youll thank me later.

    Still love you Playstation!!

  • Wow, poor showing. Returnal still looks cool. Oddworld will be free on PS+ for PS5. No footage of Ratchet and Clank (can’t remember if they already did a “deep dive” before) or Horizon Forbidden West. Meanwhile, on the PS Blog they merely mention PSVR 2, and elsewhere on the Internet confirm Days Gone is going to PC. And they STILL HAVEN’T announced the PS+ line-up for March 2021, what’s going on here?! The Play At Home initiative doesn’t replace the PS+ line-up.

  • Great presentation, interesting games, not dwelling too long on each. Really have been liking State of Play. Been wanting to see some more of Oddworld’s “2.9D”, looks sweet. Getting it with PS+ just made my day! Sifu was a nice surprise, combat looks awesome. Solar Ash looks like a cool combo of Journey and Gravity Rush. Kena looks gorgeous too, getting some Zelda vibes off that one. One thing’s for sure, indies never looked this good and appealing to me before. Looks like I’ll be trying more indies this generation.
Crash 4 still on my list. Returnal combat looks nice and responsive but the environments are a turn off for me. Deathloop I’ll pick up eventually, cool song in this presentation. Wasn’t really planning on playing FF7R again soon but looks like I’ll have to for the new content, don’t want to miss anything of this gem.
I would advice to promote and show (and play) the game in Japanese though, dubs are ridiculous :)

  • When are there going to be more PlayStation 5 consoles being restocked?

  • Jim Ryan needs to resign, immediately! The closing of Japan Studio is a huge mistake. More missteps are inevitable with him at the helm. Keep investing all your money on timed third-party exclusives, Jim. People will catch on soon and realize they don’t need a PS5 to play your so called “exclusives”.

Thankfully, I’ve already started to migrate to PC with a new build and I think it’s time to move on from the PlayStation ecosystem completely. Wish I hadn’t dropped money on a PS5 already.

    • He’s destroying it, indeed.

    • I feel you complete lack of respect to us fans who built this brand up they want that crowd they can go ahead because they just lost a customer who buys all their hardware, games full price day one,a tons off smaller less known titles and accessories hope it’s worth it Sony

    • Totally agree, that’s why people are calling him Bad News Jim Ryan.

Porting Sony games to PC, giving the middle-finger to your entire fanbase, now Japan Studio losing many talents, a talented studio that released so many classics. Wasting money with timed exclusives just to keep another platform without the game for some months.

The best thing to do is moving to PC indeed. Bad News Jim is ruining the brand.

    • Absolutely agree with this comment

  • Kena looks great. Returnal looks promising. Can’t wait to play Crash with Dualsense support, 3D Auido and 4K 60 on PS5. İt’s great to see games are getting PS5 update more and more.

  • I was expecting during State of play that they were going to announce PS Plus for March lineup but noooooo!!!!! All we got was absolute nothing.

  • I’m extremely annoyed that they didn’t reveal the PS Plus games for March. That’s the only reason I watched the state of play. Complete waste of my time.

  • I just wish I had something good to say cause I don’t want to “be a jerk” but man I am highly disappointed that the state of play or at least some other blog post didn’t address what I believe 90% of us were expecting…….march ps plus……

I mean cmon how out of touch are you sony? Who works here????

  • I’m embarrassed to tell people I own a PS5 after this State of Play, why “force” us to watch 30 minutes of complete boredom if you could just announce stuff and be done with it? Apart from Kena and FF updates, everything else was utterly irrelevant. Just upload the damn trailers to YT separately.

What the hell is going on? Where are updates on games we actually care about? Where’s the TLOU2 update? Pathetic.

  • It was a meh…
Lets move on: march plus games?

  • Ya know, Im really starting to think I (we) dont need a PS5. Sony just announced Kena for PS4…. So, now I have less of a reason to want to buy one. Additionally, PS5 was dead on arrival, just as the PS4 was and we know PS5 Pro is about a year or two out. Sony also had a major problem theyre not paying any attention to or doing anything about. Scalpers. Sony, if youre selling every PS5 console at a loss, which is the rumor, and scalpers are buying your consoles and sitting on them in hopes to make a $200+ profit on, youre losing money, youre losing customers, and youre not selling software because nobody has a console to play it on, and Jim Ryan doesnt care. Hes said nothing of it, he doesnt have any kind of a plan to deal with it, so much so, that Sony just robotically go about their business plan and announced PSVR2. So, howre ya gonna sell that and then sell software for that when scalpers have your consoles held hostage?

Also, since when did Sony give up on innovation and start following the competition instead of leading the competition? When you fired Ken Kutaragi, was he the last great mind of innovation? Because youre just pulling a Microsoft and seeing what the competition are doing and just following them. Microsoft began having no faith in the Xbox One and determined they werent gonna be able to sell consoles because theyre poor businessmen and couldnt compete with Sony and the PS4 so they tried to broaden their market to make up for it so they started releasing Games for Windows 10, yeah, they couldnt fool the console gamer anymore so they turned to the PC gamer. Then, their own online service couldnt hack it so they turned to Gabe Newell (that has zero respect for you by thr way). Now, youre just following Microsoft to see what happens. Youve given up on your ability to innovate, huh? So much so that youre copying exactly what Microsoft is doing releasing your games on Steam, when Microsoft was really stumbling to keep up with you. Its getting sad and embarrassing. Youve gotta get rid of General Cornwallis and find someone else to run PlayStation, Britts are lousy businessmen. Get rid of Jim Ryan, hes too afraid to gamble and take risks. Now Jack Tretton, that was a guy that knew how to get things done, he was to PlayStation what Tom Kalinski was to SEGA in a time they needed to crush Nintendo. Phil Spencer was once seen in a (really awkward) dual interview with Jack Tretton where Phil Spencer communicated to Jack in front of Geoff Keighley saying how relieved he was he could keep up with Jack for once and that Jack wasnt kicking him in the heels. Phil Spencer felt they put on an E3 presentation that could challenge Sonys at the time that had a reputation for being grand and incomparable, but Sonys losing all of that and Jim “Cornwallis” Ryan is failing horribly.

    • It’s a bit silly that essentially 6 months after launch there isn’t a single big Sony made game for the PS5.

I mean the closest they’ve gotten is Demon Soul’s, which is third party, and a remake of an old PS3 title.

Even the PS4 had 2 full Sony titles at launch.

You have to remember though whoever is the “big name” guy in charge probably isn’t as in charge as you think. Most the decisions are going to be made by boards of people, not by one guy in his bedroom shouting orders.

But still, if you want some US guy to run things you should look at an Xbox. Things aren’t exactly wonderful there. Also every time they copy an Xbox move (not sure why they copy the consistent last place, lowest selling console, but still) things get worse (e.g. Online becoming a plus “feature”).

Moving SIE to the US has been pretty much the worse thing Sony has done for the Playstation.

    • I agree with the sentiment and given that so many games are cross-generational (so they can maximize revenue) I am beginning to feel that my PS5 purchase is nothing more than an enhanced PS4 Pro. I remember Jim Ryan clearly stating that Sony believes in the generations and yet what I am seeing is the same strategy of Microsoft with multiple games being cross-generational. With some Playstation games also moving to PC you can see the Execs are going for profit. Nothing wrong with it but I just feel that there should be a balance between revenue, profit, and keeping the customer base happy. I appreciate the install base of PS5 is not huge but this is nothing new as it happens with every new generation but Sony still has the responsibility to push out games that are mainly for PS5 so people like me, who purchased one on day 1, do not feel like we have just bought a PS4 Pro version 2.

    • You guys got it.

  • I wanted to by hyped for this but the news of you guys closing Japan Studio killed my excitement. Bummer.

  • This was a total disappointment, though enjoyed seeing more of Kena.

  • I was not expecting much as I considered this a low-key event but all things considered, I found it pretty boring.

I am interested in Returnal, Deathloop, and Kena but I was already interested when the games were first shown and this event has not added anything new to me.
I know the first year of a new console launch is never going to set things on fire but I think COVID is slowing things down even more so if GT got delayed expect God Of War to be delayed as well and let’s hope Horizon stick to the release date/
I am surprised they still have not announced the new game from the San Diego studio (allegedly a new Uncharted) or come clean about a possible Silent Hill or MGS remake (assuming rumors are true, of course).

I am glad some games are still getting a free PS5 upgrade (FF7) and I am intrigued by Sifu because I love Kung Fu. Let’s hope it can deliver a fun experience.

  • Honestly thought you did a great job of setting expectations beforehand and then hitting them. One bigger “one more thing” would have been nice but it’s important that these State of Play’s don’t just become about that and it is fine to “only” show non-first party titles.

Really excited by Kena, Deathloop, Oddworld, Sifu & Solar Ash.

Returnal looks interesting, and Housemarque are great, but it needs to do more to convince me of £70 day one.

FF7R Interlude (or whatever Nomura named this one) free PS5 upgrade is nice and DLC welcomed. But I don’t think it was quite the home run as a final announcement you hoped, but still nice to see.

Crash 4 PS5 update honestly should have been a Blog/Twitter post. It’s not new content, just a next-gen glow up, poor opening. Would have rather seen another new title.

Five nights at Freddy’s and Knockout Smash not my cup of tea, but that’s OK.

All in good job. Especially setting appropriate expectations beforehand. Thanks.

  • It would be cool if sony implemented a manual trophy list sorting. I hope sony listen, it would make trophy hunter life easier!

  • Could have been an email.

  • What the hell is going on with Playstation! Japan Studios dismembered, spending resources and time in ports for toxic pcbeggars, without announcements of new ips for several years, while the competition is allowed to build a monopoly, sony commits suicide with Jim Ryan

  • I am not happy with the recent decisions that are being made I have heard that Days Gone is going to PC with better graphics and detail then PlayStation I bought this game the day of release and the box stated only on PlayStation, I noticed this also has been the case with Horizon Zero Dawn and I hear you can play all Xbox games on PC as well as not pay for online so really not happy you lied about this and are treating us your customers second class with worse versions of games WE supported day 1.Making the decision was tough because I love PlayStation but I’m not going to be lied to and treated second best by a company I’ve spent thousands supporting over the years so I am going to leave you as my platform of choice after 20 years

  • Well said.

  • Jim Ryan is dishonoring everything PlayStation stands for along with killing off Japan Studio even after twenty five years of giving the console brand its unique identity among the entire gaming industry is simply disgraceful.PlayStation should have never been globalized if development teams are not giving the freedom to create a product meant for their region. Whomever approved of relocating SIE headquarters along with shutting down Japan Studio deserves to resign from their position this instant.

I am formally requesting Kenichiro Yoshida to remove Jim Ryan from his position of President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment along with Hermen Hulst from being the head of World Wide Studios.

  • Can you make the ps5 have native 2k resolution 120hz for gaming monitors. I know this is a big deal in the community

  • servers offline, avatars disappearing, trophies out of sync, prices skyrocketing…. need I say more?

  • For the last two days every time I tried to plan the league on hustle Kings it says network error cuz anybody know what that is

  • It is virtually impossible to get a PS5. You guys gave all the power to the BOTS. So I’ll be taking my money to XBox…

  • I agree 100 percent it’s crazy all the money I’ve spent with Sony to be having a hard time purchasing a PS5. I’ll just get the XBox seems to be easier to get… Microsoft can have all the money I spend… See ya PS Network….
