This is truly an exciting time for all of us at PlayStation. Over the past few months, we’ve been able to show you a glimpse of the stunning new games being created for PlayStation 5, taking advantage of the console’s unique capabilities to deliver lightning-fast loading, heightened immersion, and a whole new generation of experiences. And we’re excited that the time for you to experience these brave new adventures is almost here.

As we have just announced in our PS5 Showcase, we’re only a couple of months away from launching the next generation of play. Starting on November 12, PS5 will be available in seven key markets: the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The global rollout will continue on November 19 with launches throughout the rest of the world*, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa. PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399.99 USD/$499 CAD/¥39,980/€399.99/£359.99 (MSRP), and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be available for an RRP of $499.99 USD/$629 CAD/¥49,980/€499.99/£449.99 (MSRP). Pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers, so please check with your local retailer.

We’re pleased to provide choice to gamers with two PS5 console options at launch, depending on if you want a digital-only experience or prefer disc-based gaming. Whichever PS5 you choose, you’ll enjoy the same breathtaking, next-gen gaming experiences. Both PS5 models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity visuals, including 4K graphics and ray-tracing support, as well as the same ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for lightning-fast loading. PS5’s 3D audio and the DualSense Wireless Controller will also provide the same heightened sense of immersion on all PS5s. 

We are proud of the breadth of games being created for PS5, and it’s our goal to continue filling our portfolio with new, rich experiences from the most talented game creators in the industry. Today we shared a sneak peek at the following new games coming to PS5:

These newly revealed titles, along with the games we’ve shown previously, represent the best lineup we’ve ever seen in PlayStation history. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and Demon’s Souls will launch alongside the console. Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5. 

Additionally, we know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4. While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

For PlayStation Plus members, we’ll have a special new offering on PS5 – the PlayStation Plus Collection**. PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more. The PS Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus members receive for a single subscription price.

    I just a ps5 next year plenty of stock next year i get a xbox series x at launch on amazon hopfully i be abled to secure a xbox

    Dear Sony,

    I’ve previously commented on certain aspects of your rollout of the PS5, but I would be remiss if I didn’t express my overall concern with your jumbled messaging. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t present a unified message on what games will be where, where and when to preorder, or how backwards compatibility will work on your new console. Your lack of initial transparency, along with your ad hoc responses (as well as the responses from people who ostensible aren’t even a part of your company), serve only to dissuade me from purchasing the PS5 altogether. I humbly as that you write up a clear FAQ addressing all of this (as of now I can’t seem to find one).

    Hype went from 100 to 0 after seeing the EU prices. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind paying for quality, but the increase is in my opinion not justified for every game. We already know that some games like FIFA or Madden change next to nothing from year to year, yet charge full price. I also believe that companies loose all arguments when paying hundreds of millions in executive bonuses (some of which are signing bonuses, so they haven’t even worked yet). We hear about companies working staff to their bones or even letting them go after record financial years. Sorry, but all things considered, not all games are worth that kind of money. I will gladly pay more for Witcher 3, RDR2 or Spider-Man (just to name a few). I will always pay for quality.

    And since Sony has lots of quality games, I was going to buy the PS5 on day 1. But once I saw the difference between USD and EUR I was out. My PS4, Switch and retro consoles will keep my entertained for years, I can wait. Eventually the PS5 will be cheaper, and there will be some nice game deals along the way as well. Heck, I might even get the XBOX instead, that Game Pass is a sweet deal after. I have been a Playstation fan since the very first console but this ain’t it chief.

    @SONY : WHEN WILL YOU FINALLY DECIDE TO COMMUNICATE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF PSVR ON PS5 ?!?!? Already two PS5 showcases and never a word about VR ! As a PSVR user, I need to know what will be possible to do with the PS5 concerning VR before giving you my 500€ ! Will there be next gen titles in VR ? Hitman 3, Resident Evil 8, GT 7 … what are you waiting for to announce if those games will or will not be compatible with PSVR ?! Is the new PS5 camera usefull to improve PSVR/PS Move motion detection ?! (I cannot imagine a stereoscopic camera that would not be used for motion tracking …) Will there be new motion controllers ?! (PS Moves are 10 years old ! Current VR games, like Half Life Alyx, require more precision … and joysticks !)
    ALL THOSE QUESTIONS NEED ANSWERS ! And please, during your PS5 showcases, stop to do as if PSVR did not exist ! It is very disappointing for the 5 millions of PSVR owners that invested $400 or $500 in this emerging technology and that would be pleased to continue to support it … but you must give them more visibility on what is next, otherwise, they could leave the PSVR ship very soon and succumb to Oculus Quest 2 sirens before you realize your mistake !…

    Anyone know if the ps5 will support true dolby atmos when watching 4k uhds through an avr I know they have there own 3d sound for fanes but if it doesnt support dts x and dolby atmos lossless for dusc pkayback I’ll be getting xbox .

    Well the retailers didn’t follow what Jim Ryan @ Playstation said as to having the presales start on Thursday the 17th and sad to say Sony didn’t send out the preorder email so without having to pay the absurd prices from those to got them, we all have to wait.
    I think that Sony should decrease the number of units that get shipped out to the retailers who didn’t follow the preorder dates and Sony should sell those units to those who they were going to email the invites too. That should teach the retailer to not sell prior to the date Sony has published in their official blog.

      That would be a good way they could penalize those who were obviously abusing the pre-order process to order massive amounts and then turn around to try to profit from them at 400% markups. Places like Ebay should de-list and ban accounts trying to do this. They should have jumped on this right away.

    Un petit coup de… Mécontentement. Sony avait annoncé prévenir en amont la date des précommandes. Et que c’est il passe ? Ben rien ! Les précommandes ouvertes au tout derniers moment. Finalité, toute les PS5 pour la France réservés !!!! Du coup nombreux comme moi n’ont pas eu le temps de réserver car pris par le travail. Je trouve ça honteux de votre part, et encore plus que vous aviez dit que nous serions prévenu en avance , et de surcroît vous n’arrêtiez pas de critiquer Microsoft pour sa communication mais au final vous ne valez pas mieux qu’eux!!!!
    Je souhaite bon vent a la PS5. Car cette fois je ne suivrais pas le sens du vent…

    I know we have a lot of Gamers out there in a lot of Pretenders but it sucks that’s Sony couldn’t give people a chance the GameStop to call those people that was on the list for the pre-order for the PS5 now you have people selling their tickets on websites trying to make a bigger profit out of it

    PS Sales support, I was on the email list for pre-order of the PS5. However, I didn’t receive any email. I was also on email notice from Amazon but didn’t get their email either. Apparently after the stream, the systems went on sale immediately via preorder and sold out. I thought they were to go on sale yesterday morning. by the time I got up, they were all sold out… extremely frustrating. I wanted two PS5s in fact! So, is there any way I can get a direct pre-order though Sony now as everyone else is sold out? I’m quite bummed how this pre-order roll-out thing occurred. I thought Sony promised there wouldn’t be a last minute notice this time… thank you for any help you can provide me.

    I am also bummed, I have hope that they would email those that were on the pre-order list at least. I know that they are only allowing 1 system each and was just hoping for one. My family have been a long time PS players.
    Hoping that with their next shipment that they send out emails to those that were on their pre-order list prior to releasing them to the big box stores. Only fair for their long time players that have supported them!!

    Very disappointed with your preorder process. You said we would have time and that it was going to be available on 9/17 for preorder. That didn’t happen. I trusted you and retailers opened preorders immediately. I found out 2 hours later and couldn’t even get a shot at pre ordering. You could have controlled that. Then you went on and said you are no longer truly next gen and are compromising PS5 games by making PS4 versions. You basically lied to us. Now I don’t know if I should even get the PS5 because I can play the games on a PS4. Yes I completely know the advantages of the PS5. I’ve watched Mark Cerny’s presentation 10 times. I’ve spent hours delving into the PS5 specs. In my opinion you made the best console by far. But you’ve completely taken all my enthusiasm out of the PS5 knowing I’m no longer getting true next gen. You spoke over and over how you are leaving last gen behind and now…your not. I was so psyched up for this system. I felt you did everything right up to 9/16. I am so disappointed in Sony.

      I very much agree. I truly hope that they penalize the jackals and vultures who are trying to hawk pre-orders at outrageous markups. I knew this would happen for some reason but not that we would be side-stepped from even getting a chance at pre-ordering it by signing up from Sony.

    ALL I CARE ABOUT IS DOLBY VISION AND FREESYNC. NOT A SINGLE MANUFACTURER HAS VRR WORKING YET. WE NEED FREESYNC. AND IF PS5 DOESNT HAVE DOLBY VISION AND ATMOS FOR APPS AND THE BLURAY, THEN GAMES AT A LATER DATE, ALONG WITH FREESYNC…THEN IT CANNOT CALL ITSELF NEXT GEN.

    Attempted to purchase a ps5 today through Sony’s “exclsuive” offer. And just like many other Sony users I was unable to order one despite several attempts with both my credit and debit cards. I then was unable to speak to a live representative over the phone and when I attempted to use the live chat received very poor service. I am sti without a ps5 and in a few days will seriously consider buying the new Xbox instead. Sony found a way to mess up a guarantee.

    To Sony and its PR, you guys owe me a PS5 pre-order. How can you showcase the entire video of the PS5 without mentioning THE PRE-ORDER DATES? AND THEN SURPRISES EVERYONE, we heard the preorder date from Geoff Keighley I didn’t know he works for Sony?. I was at best buy website from 7pm until 4am trying to score my pre-order. Best buy was messed up I had the whole bundle in my cart of the ps5 standard edition with all the accessories but I couldn’t check out or submit my payment. I HIGHLY BLAME SONY FOR THIS!!

    I did my pre-order at 1PM today and it said that my order was a success but nothing has been taken off my card yet. Should I redo it or just wait?

    Sony! are you going to apologize to your amazing fans after Eric Lempel lied to everyone saying not to worry we won’t drop a pre order at a minutes notice ? That’s exactly what happened and it was a disaster ! At least own up to your mistake and take responsibility . You have incredible fans but you’ve been treating us poorly during this entire launch with very vague information.

      SONY didn’t do that. Amazon and Best Buy and Gamestop did that. Sony’s preorder sale actually worked well – and if you’ve got an invite, they still appear to have both consoles for sale right now (well, last I looked, about an hour ago).

    With 918 comments already, it’s unlikely anyone from Sony would actually read – much less respond to – mine. But here goes.

    1. When will PS5 digital releases of games for release day go on sale in the Playstation Store?
    2. When will you release details about the adapter for the PS4 camera to allow it to work with the PS5?
    3. You’ve promoted the Playstation Visa – when will PS5 games and peripherals be available on its reward site?
    4. Will PS4 games with upscaling for the PS4 Pro have at least the same upscaling when played on the PS5?
    5. Will any PS4 games have performance improvements when played on the PS5 beyond what’s on the PS4 Pro?
    6. It’s been said that 99% of PS4 games will be playable on the PS5. Are there specific titles you know will not be playable, at least not immediately? Can you provide details?
    7. Please provide some clarity about the original Spider-Man game and the version enchanced for PS5. Will it be available separately from the Miles Morales release? Will it cost extra for owners of the PS4 version – disc-based or digital, original or GOTY edition?
    8. Will Playstation Now continue? Will it be on the PS5? Will the option to download games be retained and/or expanded?
    9. Will Playstation Plus release any PS5 titles as free games each month? Is there a plan to start that some time in 2021?
    10. Are there planned PS5 versions of PS4 titles that have not yet been announced (the Spider-Man version was kind of a backwards announcement, as part of the more-expensive version of the Miles Morales game), even if you can’t provide confirmation for specific titles or pricing?

    Okay…the last two are the type of rumor-mongering I don’t really expect an answer to – but what about the rest? Sony, anybody willing to tackle some of these?

    Single issue. I was not expecting the retailers to simply unleash pre-orders the way that they did without any sort of policing of that. I am a long time Playstation gamer who has actually a PSN ID without a number, and Have owned consoles since the PS1 yet found it impossible to get a pre-order. I heard reports that many pre-orders were sold out in seconds only to see them pop up all over ebay at absorbent prices by these sleezy people (likely the same people who bought up all of the hand sanitizers and facemasks back in February only to do the same markup practices). I truly think it is horrible that after signing up ON the Playstation website for a pre-order that I never even got an email from Playstation themselves offering a pre-order. I truly am disappointed. I hope that either I eventually get an email invite or am somehow able to get a preorder at a retailer. I never saw this with the Ps4 (in fact it was quite the opposite) I was able to get at least two pre-orders of the PS4 and actually cancelled one because I was only buying myself one. One was from an invite from Playstation and the second was in person at walmart. People just sit around and have special programs set up just to bypass regular means and try to profit off demand and that is truly wrong and detestable not at all what gaming is about nor just being a good person. I hope someone cancels all of the accounts of those whom are upselling those preorders especially since they are likely in violation of both selling prices AND of upselling it so far in advance. And I hope mostly to at least be able to preorder a console. Disappointed indeed.
