New games announced at PS5 Showcase, including Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, and a new God of War title
This is truly an exciting time for all of us at PlayStation. Over the past few months, we’ve been able to show you a glimpse of the stunning new games being created for PlayStation 5, taking advantage of the console’s unique capabilities to deliver lightning-fast loading, heightened immersion, and a whole new generation of experiences. And we’re excited that the time for you to experience these brave new adventures is almost here.
As we have just announced in our PS5 Showcase, we’re only a couple of months away from launching the next generation of play. Starting on November 12, PS5 will be available in seven key markets: the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The global rollout will continue on November 19 with launches throughout the rest of the world*, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa. PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399.99 USD/$499 CAD/¥39,980/€399.99/£359.99 (MSRP), and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be available for an RRP of $499.99 USD/$629 CAD/¥49,980/€499.99/£449.99 (MSRP). Pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers, so please check with your local retailer.
We’re pleased to provide choice to gamers with two PS5 console options at launch, depending on if you want a digital-only experience or prefer disc-based gaming. Whichever PS5 you choose, you’ll enjoy the same breathtaking, next-gen gaming experiences. Both PS5 models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity visuals, including 4K graphics and ray-tracing support, as well as the same ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for lightning-fast loading. PS5’s 3D audio and the DualSense Wireless Controller will also provide the same heightened sense of immersion on all PS5s.
We are proud of the breadth of games being created for PS5, and it’s our goal to continue filling our portfolio with new, rich experiences from the most talented game creators in the industry. Today we shared a sneak peek at the following new games coming to PS5:
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition (Capcom)
- Final Fantasy XVI (Square Enix)
- Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach (Steel Wool Studios and ScottGames)
- Hogwarts Legacy (Warner Bros. Games)
- New God of War title (Santa Monica Studio)
These newly revealed titles, along with the games we’ve shown previously, represent the best lineup we’ve ever seen in PlayStation history. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and Demon’s Souls will launch alongside the console. Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5.
Additionally, we know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4. While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.
For PlayStation Plus members, we’ll have a special new offering on PS5 – the PlayStation Plus Collection**. PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more. The PS Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus members receive for a single subscription price.

Everyone at PlayStation, along with all of our partners in development, publishing, technology, and retail, have devoted a lot of effort to launch PlayStation 5 in time for the holiday season. We’re all working closely together to achieve our mission of delivering the best that gaming has to offer to our community. I truly want to thank you, the fans, for your tremendous support (and patience!), while we take this journey to PS5. We can’t wait for November to arrive – when you’ll be able to get a PS5 console in your hands to begin exploring new adventures and creating new epic memories for many years to come.

Digital edition for me
Enjoy paying $80-90 per digital game
Wait what?? how much are digital games gonna cost.
Digital games cost exactly the same as physical games.
The whole reason why the digital-only console costs $100 less is because they already make larger margins from digital copies.
@nonstop-madness I disagree. They’re saving some money by not including certain hardware in the digital version.
@Nippy_Kangaroo stop spreading lies. The games aren’t going to cost $80-90.
The Disc version is also the Digital version.
The Digital Only is all about control.
WOW. Sony just killed Xbox.
PS5 (digital) for $399
Launch exclusives:
Spiderman MM
Demon’s Souls
Sackboy
Godfall
Destruction All-Stars
Oddworld
Jett
Final Fantasy XVI is a PS5 console exclusive.
Spiderman looked absolutely incredible and the bosses in Demon’s Souls were absurd. Who would buy a Series S if a PS5 is merely $100 more? At the same time a diskless PS5 is $100 less than Series X and it has actual launch exclusives like Demon’s Souls.
The first year of PS5 is ridiculous with Horizon, God of War, Final Fantasy XVI, GT7, R&C, Returnal, Deathloop, Ghostwire, Miles M, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy, Godfall, ect. PS5 is the console u want.
Digital as well you all know that when Playstation do sales they do sales lol they have a sale for about anithing the spring sale the golden week sale the chritsmas sale the blah blah blah sale last one real (not) but point and case you will get really cheap games on their sales.So please for everybody out here misinforming people please stop.
80euro’s is 95dollars,, 70pound is 90dollars,
ask the canadians and aussies how much they have to pay, south america ive seen crazy prices. Stop defending sony..
@ninja_bear01 Sony makes a killing off of digital games. I never understood the whole paying full price to rent something you’ll never own.
Physical for me only after I get the Xbox first. Ps has nothing to offer for next gen at all except more screwing it’s crowd base over. They proved that with this reveal.
@DirtyD0814 alright, back to the carnival with you, you clown.
@Nonstop_Madness
A blu-ray drive isn’t a $100 even on the consumer market, it’s not going to be $100 on manufacturing level for the company owning the patent.
$100 difference is purely to incentivize digital console purchase.
Next-gen titles will cost 10 more of whatever your local currency is. If you’re in USA, it’s gonna cost 10 bucks more, if you’re in UK it’s gonna cost 10 pounds more, if you’re in EU it’s gonna cost 10 euros more, etc…
Digital games and physical games cost the same, however physical copies vary in price from store to store and you have a lot more options with sales and bargains, not to mention access to used games market.
If you buy the digital edition, you lock yourself out of a lot of discounts and sales by being able to shop around. The extra 100 on the physical edition is a quick and easy offset when you consider how much less money you spend in the long run buying physical games over digital only.
@sephiroth1161
It’s true Sony runs sales all the time.
No man’s Sky is $50 on PSN, always has been.
It’s been $5 for years now in physical copies if you go to gamestop.
Now, No Man’s Sky may not be a great game, but it’s a perfect example. Sony runs sales all the times, but it’s always sony running sales. Why would you lock yourself to one place’s prices when you can get a wider selection?
@Anedime
You can buy digital from other retailers as well.
And I am 99.999% positive No Man’s Sky has been on sale on PSN.
So not only is PS5 the biggest console in history in size, its also a Power Hog 😵 at 350 Watt.
@PrettyBad
Didn’t they discontinue buying digital codes in brick and mortar stores?
Please share india price and tip low the price in india
@PrettyBad
You can buy digital from amazon as well, you can’t buy it in most stores any more and they’re not subject to discounts and sales. Physical discs go on sale to make room for new inventory all the time, what little digital offerings these stores have are in card form and are never discounded.
No Man’s sky was on several sales, down to $30, all these sales were while it was already $5 at gamestop so I don’t see why pointing out technicalities does anything when I’m still in the right.
I’m not telling you what to do, what to buy, whatever you pick I wish you the best, but all digital console will be more expensive in the long run, this is not up to debate, you only need to go to a Gamestop or any walmart’s bargain bin to be proven as much.
Nippy_Kangaroo why do you people think that sales don’t exist on the playstation store? And why do you people think that you’re not paying just as much as us when new video games come out?
So when is PlayStation gonna put up the pre-orders on their website
It would be nice if they fix the damn servers so we can actually purchase the new console for pre order
Reasons for physical disc PS5
1. You can sell your games on the market place,offerup,letgo etc
2. You can trade games with friend and others.
3. You can borrow and let others borrow games.
4. You can compare prices between all stores to find the lowest price.
5. You can buy digitally from psn as well.
Playstation, You guys should make a physical copy of Ghost of Tsushima for the PS5 with the multi-player included, enhanced and remaster for the PS5. Ray-Tracing, Sound Echo Tracing, better Frame Rate and Resolution.
That would add another game to the list of PS5 games as physical releases people could buy if they haven’t already.
When can we expect to be able to pre-order digital versions of the game’s for the PlayStation 5 on the PlayStation Store?
I’m buying the disc drive version of PlayStation 5 to have the peace of mind to be able to barrow game’s from friends or rent a game I’m not 100% sure I’ll like.
For me if I really like the game I’m buying a digital version of the game. I’m not one to ever sell my game collection. Plus they are preserved for life without the worry of scratches, being damaged, lost, or worse stolen.
I wanted a disc version but I never got a notification about pre-order upset about this cause sign up for multiple pre-orders
from different places and I didn’t get one notification from any so I missed out 🤬 🤦♂️I’m literally checking everyday now
Cgg
Microsoft made some big moves with Bethesda. They won’t stop there, they aren’t done just yet.
The next target for Microsoft is most likely Sega.
You cannot let that happen.
You need to sign contracts with all developers that all their existing IPs on Playstation will forever be released on Playstation, day and date, same price as competition for all developers.
Sony, you got to do everything in your power to make sure that all games are released day and date on Playstation, including day and date on Game Pass will also release on Playstation Collection at the same time. Secure a forever contract without an expiration date with all developers.
I’d also consider purchasing CD Project Red into Playstation first party studios after you’ve secured all the games from all developers, but CD Project Red games could be on multiple console, unless Microsoft doesn’t allow Bethesda to be publish games on your console.
These monopolies are not good for consumers and I don’t like them one bit.
It’s nothing new from Microsoft.
They’ve never built anything, they just buy everything.
My Thoughts Exactly. Makes Sense & There’s More Options From That Choice. Say The Network Goes Down Again & You 4Got 2Download Something. Let A Mate Borrow it.
Not Having 2Download 80Garey Buseys of Space Lol.Say if The Game Or Saves Magically Become Corrupted. Or That Update You Didn’t Want 2Download Yet Secretly Downloads WithOut You Knowledge Or Confirmation(When Automatic Downloads Are Set 2Off Ect.

i Have Way More Questions, But i’ll Start With These 1st.
@Anedime
I wish a UHD Bluray drive was less than $100. Otherwise I would own one. But nope. A decent one is $150+ and they all seem to have their issues. Oh well a PC one is $100, but lets not get into the PROBLEMS there.. I swear Movie industry wanted UHD to fail when they made the decision to force Intel’s Proprietary SGX extensions to allow for UHD bluray playback. (That must be supported on the GPU.. oh wait)
At least for me the extra $100 to add UHD Bluray playback on my console is worth it. Not saying the drive is worth that much. But UHD Bluray is not your typical Bluray. Otherwise I am in agreement with the rest of what you said.
It is hard to get any of the ps5 consoles due to people not wearing masks and social distancing I can’t preorder the console anywhere and I don’t know if the console is going be in retailers at all.
I didn’t pre-order a PS5, now they are all sold out. When will PS5 be available again?
LOL, luddites sure do say some funny, nonsensical things. 9 games out of ten I bought digital, and the reason why I did is because they were, in fact, on sale for cheaper than what you could get a used physical copy for. Quit pretending that your baseless argument about digital being more expensive has any validity. Also you need to quit pretending that buying a game digitally is a type of rental. You are morons.
Oh man ,I fell bad for 3rd world countries like Iran ,cz they have to pay too much for a 60 dollar game ,1 usd in iran right now is 310000 irr and a 60 dollar game is like 18600000 irr. that big a WOW.
I make $82h while I’m traveling the world. Last week I worked by my laptop in Rome, Monti Carlo and finally Paris…This week I’m back in the USA. All I do are easy tasks from this one cool site.
