Everyone at Insomniac Games is thrilled to announce that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch on Friday, October 20th, 2023, only on PlayStation 5. After the amazing fan reception for Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018 and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, the team has worked tirelessly over the past few years to make this third installment in the franchise the sequel you have been waiting for. Built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 console, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will unlock the power of the console with better visuals, faster web swinging (and web wings!), 3D Audio*, and near-instant character switching. We speak for all our collaborators and friends at PlayStation and Marvel Games, when we say that we cannot wait for you to get your hands on this incredible single-player open-world experience.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players will get to experience Marvel’s New York as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. As you saw in the PlayStation Showcase last month – the main storyline of the game will have you take control of both Spider-Men at different points of the campaign. In the open world, you will be able to switch nearly instantly between them as you explore Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Both Spider-Men have stories and missions in the world exclusive to each of them.

As you can see from our box art, Peter and Miles are both key protagonists in our story. The iconic red background returns, but darkness surrounds as fan-favorite villains like Venom, Lizard, and Kraven threaten them and Marvel’s New York. You will also notice that each character’s arm represents their new abilities: Peter with the symbiote, Miles with his evolved bioelectric Venom powers.

In addition to our launch date, we are excited to walk you through your options for experiencing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Pre-orders will open on June 16th, 2023 at all participating retailers, PlayStation Store, and direct.playstation.com. Pre-Orders will go live at 10:00 AM local time on June 16, 2023 (10am EDT/ 7am PDT in U.S.). Fans who pre-order any version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive an early unlock Arachknight Suit for Peter with 3 additional color variants, an early unlock Shadow Spider Suit for Miles with 3 additional color variants, an early unlock Web Grabber gadget, and 3 skill points to get you started!

You will see the beautiful box art adorning the standard edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for $69.99 / £69.99/ €79.99/ ¥8,980 MSRP. But that is not all! There will be a Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Edition of the game!

The Digital Deluxe edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ($79.99 / £79.99/ €89.99/ ¥9,980 MSRP) will include the game, all the pre-order incentives, as well as 10 unique suits (5 for Peter, 5 for Miles), additional Photo Mode frames and stickers, and 2 additional skill points.

    What is this stupid trend of not putting a physical copy of the game in the collectors edition? What is the point of the steelbook if there is no game disc included

      Because they want collectors to double dip. That Empty Steelbook will include a Disc Holder. But that jigsaw piece is inside the Standard Version.

      Because Sony want collectors to double dip. Steelbooks are normally collected by collectors.By not placing the actual missing piece, meaning the Disc, the OCD in collectors will rush out and snap up a Srandard Version.

    How does local time work for the US. Is it 10am eastern time for all states, or does it go by time zone?

    Because I could see the CE selling out before central/mountain/pacific even had the chance to order if it’s by time zone.

      Hey, So the customer service told me that 10:00am local time is for California

      I live in state Massachusetts’s, and since California is 3 hours behind with time for us. For me, the thing goes on sale at 1:00pm

      I don’t understand why they couldn’t say that the 10:00am is California time

      It’s most likely made of resin so $200.00 is reasonable.Its certainly not a premium statue that are normally made from polystone and cost five times more .

      It is most likely not RESIN and a high quality PVC like First 4 Figures PVC line.

      Not many collector editions statues are made with resin and most are PVC! The last spider-man CE statue was very nice and that was PVC as well with similar price pint….

      Most Resins of even that size can be $200-$500 just for the statue.

      Designers are lazy these days! Sone designers when creating a steelbook design they just use a monotonous boring wallpaper design, (Red Dead, God of War etc.) slap a logo on it and call it a day…

      Most Packages and steelbook designers of today really suck! I was actually surprised this steelbook looks actually good. Especially, like I said the last Spiderman CE literally had an all Solid Red Steel with the Spiderman logo on it and thats it…

      I bet SONY doesnt realize some even display a sealed copy when the ART BOX HAS GOOD ART! They know nothing about collectors and they sell collector editions…Mind Boggling… SMH…

      So uncreative and LAME! I seriously would FIRE and chew out this WACK SIMPLISTIC DESIGNERS.

      They know we want the disc in Collector Editions and they still SPITE FANS by offering a digital code instead. Most collectors that collect want physical items and this is going backwards for Sony .

      If a collector wants a digital copy they will but it on top but all Collector editions should no matter what come with the PHYSICAL DISC… SONY NEED TO WAKE UP!

    This is an absolute win for me as a digital only person these days. When I got the PS5 when it first came out I was thinking about Miles and Spider Man 2 wondering if there was a collector’s edition, if I would get stuck with a physical copy that I had to sell. Luckily for me, Sony has being doing these digital only bundles and I could not be more happy! My only question is if this is going to be completely exclusive to PlayStation direct, or if it will come to other retailers for pre order later.

    Anyone who’s a fan of buying physical should think carefully before buying this. Personally, I won’t be spending a penny on a box that just contains a download voucher and no actual disc. I’ll wait for a version with a disc, and if one never arrives, I guess I won’t be playing this.

    I somewhat understood it for the other two games because they came out for PS4 and PS5 but Spider-Man 2 is PS5 only!
    Give us Collectors the freaking Disc in the Collector’s Edition or make at least a Special Edition with the Steelbook (with Disc!!!) and an Artbook and the Deluxe Edition Extras or something, why are you treating your Fans like this PlayStation?

    I’m really late to comment but still making one. Digital deluxe I am most likely getting. Collector’s doesn’t have a physical disc but gets a steelbook anyway. Not much physical stuff in a collector’s edition for a price over $200. I just got paid $200 in the bank right now and going back to work tonight. But that collector’s is disappointing, like who came up with it.

    Standard Edition it is, then, as that seems to be the only physical option.
    And no need to pre-order, early unlocks always feel like cheating too much, I don’t use them.
    Especially with collectibles like suits, I want to find them the proper way.

    No physical disc in the collectors edition? The whole point is to own the game, and a digital copy doesn’t count, so that’s a hard no. I would have bought this too, I bought the first one. Get it together Sony, collectors want to collect the game first and foremost, not a stupid display box.

    The only way to stop this bad practice by not including the disc in collector editions is for everyone not to buy it. Unfortunately people will buy it and it will sell out immediately, so that trend is becoming the norm now Unfortunately.

    I do not buy collector editions myself, not video games anyway. But I feel sorry for physical collectors who want the disc based game with this set.

    That’s the second game I’ve had to settle for the standard edition because Sony thinks shipping a collectors edition with no disc is a good idea.
    And where’s the Deluxe Edition with Steelbook (with a Disc)
