UPDATE: All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with 700+ games and more value than ever

PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now come together; players can choose from three flexible options.

Update: We’re making fantastic progress with our launch efforts and I wanted to update you on the latest. We’re rolling out our new offering for PlayStation Plus a little earlier in select markets in Asia, followed by Japan. Here is a look at our updated regional rollout schedule.

  • Asia markets (excluding Japan) – targeting May 23, 2022 (May 24, 2022 in local time zone)
  • Japan – targeting June 1, 2022 (June 2, 2022 in local time zone)
  • Americas – targeting June 13, 2022
  • Europe, Australia, New Zealand – targeting June 22, 2022 (June 23, 2022 in local time zone)

Additionally, we’re also expanding our cloud streaming access to the following locations for a total of 30 markets with cloud streaming access**. The following markets will also offer the Premium tier from PlayStation Plus at launch: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

We’ve been working on this massive global effort to provide flexible options, quality games and greater value for our members for quite some time now – and we’re just a few weeks away from our first regional rollout. We want to thank our PlayStation community for the ongoing support, and we’ll have more to share as we get closer to launch. For more information, including pricing for your local market, please visit our website at https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-plus/

Since launching PlayStation Plus in 2010, SIE has been at the forefront of innovation with game subscription services. We were thrilled to be the first console membership service that included a refreshed library of games through PlayStation Plus, and also launched the first console game streaming service with PlayStation Now.

Today, we are pleased to share with you official news about changes coming to our subscription services. This June, we’re bringing together PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in an all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service that provides more choice to customers across three membership tiers globally.

Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.

The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus. With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart. At launch, we plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal. We’re working closely with our imaginative developers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to include some of the best gaming experiences available with a library that will be regularly refreshed. More details to come on the games we’ll have on our new PlayStation Plus service.

When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch.

As this is a massive launch effort, we’re rolling out the new PlayStation Plus offering in a phased regional approach. In the June timeframe, we’ll begin with an initial launch in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered. We aim to have most PlayStation Network territories live with our new PlayStation Plus game subscription service by the end of the first half of 2022. We also plan to expand our cloud streaming benefit to additional markets, and will provide more details at a later date.

Building upon more than 25 years of expertise in gaming innovation, this change to our subscription services highlights our continued efforts to evolve our network services business to match our customer’s preferences. With the all-new PlayStation Plus, we’re focused on delivering a compelling game subscription service with curated content from our exclusive PlayStation Studios team and our third-party partners. The newly enhanced PlayStation Plus will enable our fans to discover and engage with more content than ever before, and deepen their connection with the PlayStation community through shared experiences.

We’re providing an early look at our new PlayStation Plus subscription service today, and we’ll plan to share more information with you as we get closer to launch. Stay tuned.

*Local pricing may vary by market. PlayStation Plus catalog titles may also vary by market and tier, and may change over time. • soon as this comes out im getting the £100 version SO I CAN HAVE EVERYTHING – and now i know why the uk aint 1st to get this so that the rest of the world gets it 1st so they are all beta testers for it LOL then when it comes to the uk it will be working 100%

    • You’re just a kid with parents paying for your gaming. When you grow up and learn the value of the money, you’ll understand how Sony is milking you with those “new” plans.

  • I really appreciate you taking this step towards a better player experience. However, I need to tell you that it’s still not there yet, and I will tell you why.

I’ve been a PS Plus subscriber since 2010 and I love and probably will always play PS exclusive games. They are the best. Period!

Now, in terms of focus on players, Microsoft wins big time with Xbox game pass ultimate. I’ve bought PS5 and Xbox Series X and I can tell you that Microsoft wins because Sony is missing too big points:

    1. Old games from past generations are available on Xbox Series X. Now with Sony, I feel terrible that I need to turn my old PS3 on to play my hundreds of games that are there. As I already paid for them, I don’t think it is fair to ask me to pay a subscription on PS5 to play the very same game that I have, just because Sony wants more money.

    2. The quest system on Xbox is a must and Sony has nothing like it. Just playing games regularly on Xbox provides enough game scores to receive back US$10 to US$15 per month, that you can use the way you want. Moreover, if you want you can just use your GS to buy a 3 months game pass ultimate. In other words, play games for free just because you play games.

2.5 Hundreds of EA and all PC games for free on Game Pass Ultimate.

To finish, I play games every day for hours, and every time I have both controllers waiting for me, the PS5 and the XBOX are there, but mostly, I’m playing Xbox and only once in a while, some exclusives on PS5.

  • When is it gonna happen?

  • So people who already own both PSNow and PS+ and have zero interest in playing 20 year old titles, get nothing. I don’t see anything about First Party Discounts, Game Trails aren’t new, nothing about an attempt to make a more robust collection of games. Those games are good but OLD. Spiderman and GoW are 5 years old, Miles is 2 years old, Mortal Kombat and Death Stranding are 3 years and Returnal is almost a year old. I understand Day On Releases are out of the question but for someone who has platinum’d 4 of the 6 games mentioned, there’s little incentives

  • It just couldn’t be worse than this, could it?
Basically you’re taking away one game a month from current PS Plus subscribers (2 games in the new plan vs 3 games currently), not adding anything that is already available. And also say f*** off to your current customer base by not offering even a trial of Premium tier to your subscribers.
But hey, then it gets even worse! PS3 games are still only selected ones, streaming only, and no new countries added to the list of countries that currently have access to PSNow. And anyone who used PSNow in the past knows, that the PS3 selection is very lacking. There should be AT LEAST all Sony’s first party titles there, but no. Because f*** you. And since you’re so worried that people could use their own games on the discs, or even worse play games they have in their libraries from PS3 times, you don’t even bother with emulator for those games. Because then you would not earn those moneys you’re after. So if anyone wants to play PS3 games, you allow them, but only if they pay you for privilege AND only games you decide are ok to play. For anyone else it’s middle finger.
So basically anyone who wants to play Metal Gear Solid 2/3 won’t be able to, because of this system – those games are not available as digital downloads for PS2, so we won’t be able to download them in this version. HD collection was removed from PS Now because the copyrights expired. So that’s a no as well, because the disc or digital version from PS3 won’t run. Middle finger again in customers direction.
All you had to do was to announce that anyone with PS Plus and/or PS Now subscription bought up to today is getting top tier for the remaining of his current subscription, and make PS3 emulator happen on PS5. If PS3 can be emulated on a PC using home-made emulator, then there is no reason for PS5 not being able to emulate PS3. Except for your greed for money, but I guess with everything that happened with Gran Turismo 7 post launch, we all know now, that Sony cares only about money. Time to abandon this ship after playing on PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5.

  • WILL PEOPLE JUST CALM DOWN – NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR ACTIVE PS PLUS YOU GOT FOR THE YEAR OR HOW EVER MANY YEARS IT WILL STILL BE ACTIVE WHEN NEW VERSION IS OUT IN JUNE SO DONT GO PANIC BUYING – all that will happen is it will be the basic ps plus you got now £49.99 for the year – so when the new one comes out you can upgrade to the £99 version if you want – simple as that – nuff said case closed im right and will be ignoring replys

  • Still waiting to be able to play my digital PS3 games on my PS5… meanwhile, i think i’ll stick to essential. But glad to hear sony are providing more options.

  • Glad you’re leaving PS plus the same but what is up with adding game trials to the highest tier sub for something that you originally introduced to be free. The old bait and switch. “For the gamers” not anymore more like “For the Shareholders”. Bravo Sony may you feast off the whales.

  • “PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch.”

Does this mean my subscription fee will stay at 60 euros, or will I be forced to pay double as soon as my current subscription ends? Not very clear to me

    • Nada cambiará si no subes de categoría. No te cobrarán más. Está muy claro en el texto.

    • It’s clear: you will be upgraded to Plus Extra until your Now subscription expires. After that, you will be renewing Extra at full price on the original schedule (monthly, quarterly, or annually)

  • Curious about this;

Provides the same benefits that PlayStation Plus members are getting today, such as:
    Two monthly downloadable games

Last I checked, there were 3 downloadable games? Are we looking at a downgrade, or are you only counting PS4 games? Clarity would be useful?

  • I stacked my PSN yearly subscriptions for 3 years and I’m good until like 2023. What does this mean for me?

    • all that will happen is a name change PlayStation Plus Essential – £49.99 thats it same as it is now but ul have option to upgrade to the £99 that im gonna do

    • It means that nothing will change, you will not pay more or enjoy anything extra.

    • Well you didn’t own PS Now before and all this is, is PS Now included into PS+. So if you don’t way PS Now, don’t upgrade from your current plan.

If you want to stream old games with lag to your TV, then spend extra money.

  • PlayStation Plus Essential (£6.99 monthly / £19.99 quarterly / £49.99 yearly) offers the same benefits as PlayStation Plus now, namely two monthly downloadable games, online multiplayer access, cloud storage for saved games, and extra discounts. <<< THIS IS THE ONE YOU ALL GOT NOW AND YOU WILL STILL KEEP IT WHEN NEW PS PLUS OUT JUNE

PlayStation Plus Extra (£10.99 monthly / £31.99 quarterly / £83.99 yearly) adds to the above a catalogue of 400 PS4 and PS5 games to download "including blockbuster hits from our PlayStation Studios catalogue and third-party partners".

PlayStation Plus Premium (£13.49 monthly / £39.99 quarterly / £99.99 yearly) goes further, with 340 additional games. PS3 games will be available to stream, while classic PS1, PS2 and PSP games will be available to stream or download. Time-limited game trials will also be included for players to try before they buy. <<< YOU CAN UPGRADE TO BETTER ONE THAT WILL STACK ON THE ONE YOU GOT ALREADY

  • Will you be able to download PS3 games or just stream them?

    • Stream only. limited to countries that have PSNow. any countries that don’t will get a cheaper PSPlus Deluxe that has all of the Premium options besides PS3 games and Streaming the other titles, however those titles can all be downloaded anyway. so Only lose PS3 titles.

  • Nice .😍💥⚡
Is all Tiers also available on PS4?

  • I’ll stick to the original tier (cheapest)

  • if you got a £49.99 for the year 4 years 6 years etc – nothing will change but it will be called PlayStation Plus Essential – and you have option to go all in and upgrade to £99 that im gonna do for 10 years

  • Is there any chance we can please get “Mega Man Powered Up”?

  • SO, with Australia having the Deluxe and not premium… how the hell does one of the bigger Countries get no PSNow… are all the PS1, PS2 and PSP games that will be available on the “Premium” Tier be downloadable for us Aussies? or will only be a select few? i know we can’t play PS3 games because of Streaming, but the 2nd dot point says they are “Available in both Streaming and Downloadable options” meaning all these will be playable in the Deluxe?

Please give Australia PS Plus Premium, we don’t have that Crap internet anymore. Though would be nice to have 2 servers in Australia to counter the long distance between East and West. had enough of being forced to play with crap Ping being in Perth.

  • I hope Silent hill 2, Restless dreams, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4 from the PS2 will be at the launch catalog.!!
also it would be nice if at least 1 or 2 throphies are added to the PS1 and PS2 games…

  • So are we getting it in South Africa seeing we never ever got ps now. And dont youse internet speed as a excuse again. We mostly all sitting with 1000mb/s lines.

  • This is literally just taking PS Now and putting it under the PS Plus banner. That’s LITERALLY all they’re doing here.

Sony isn’t offering anything new, giving extra incentive, they’re not even offering a discount for getting both under the “Premium” tier or anything.

This is the equivalent of what Subway does when they offer “new” sandwiches – they just take existing stuff, give it a different name, and go “tah dah, new sub!”

Leave it to Sony to try and create PR hype for offering what already freaking exists and changing nothing but some names.

    SMDH.

    • This is why it is a blog post. AKA we know this is lazy so we are putting it in a place that casual gamers won’t see it without looking and we don’t have to have a real conversation or see the harsh social backlash of still not fixing our problems.

    • Hater detected. Typical people who only complain and complain believing that they deserve everything. If you are grateful you will do better in life.

    • Preach???

  • So same pricing for PS+ and PSNOW, but you get ps2, ps1, psp games, and trials. Unless they add trophies to these games or make ps3 games downloadable, i will probably downgrade from having both services to just the middle tier, as thats essentially what i use now. Glad PS5 games are eventually being added to the service.

  • Can we PLEASE get a family-plan for multiple users in a household?!?

  • we’re in 2022, new gen consoles, but still paid online access? come on Sony, you know damn well the people are gonna storm onto PlayStation if you remove that constraint.
also I’ve been a loyal customer to Sony and gamepass is still better than what you’ve done

  • Please don’t waste my time with the PS3 streaming. What a useless addition.
I’d be happier if you rolled this service in to the PS3 console itself and let me download them natively.

  • What do you mean by cloud gaming?

    • It means Sony is too lazy to allow you to play their games directly on your console so instead they are a warehouse full of PS3s that will play the game for you and stream it to your TV with lag. So you press UP and it has to send that to a warehouse then the PS3 has to receive that input, press UP and then stream the video of the game back to you.

The most overly complicated solve for something that should be as simple as PS3 emulation on PS5.

  • No emulation of PS1-PS3 is just unacceptable at this point. Sony stop sticking bandaids on everything and making it a mess that requires a map to navigate how and where to play specific titles and just emulate on PS5. Make it a perk that comes free with PS5 ownership in the same way PS+ Collection is. Seriously stop pretending like its not possible. A couple kids with some free time and little to no access to important code are able to figure it out.

    • PS3 emulation*. I realize the older ones do. What I mean is PS1-PS3 should ALL be emulated, not just some.

      Worded poorly.

  • Estará disponible en LATAM?

  • So no backward compatibility but a big a** paywall to play old games wow thanks for nothing Sony! Who is stupid enought to pay 119$ a year for old games

  • Much better than expected! I congratulate you, this service really looks better than Game Pass. Congratulations PlayStation!

    • How is this better? Its PS+ and PSNow combined for € 120 per year.

You could have gotten before if you subscribed to both services.

      Again, how is this better?

  • Dont buy into this ****, especially if you are ps+ and have been claiming the monthly games already. Its just another recycle by Sony who are just trying to grab more of your cash. They haven’t innovated anything for years. You can see how greedy they have become.

  • what about current ps plus members who have just paid for a full year

    • You get nothing extra. You just get the basic PS+, but with 1 game less a month.

It’s 3 games per month now, and gets nerfed down to 2 games each month as I read it.

  • Game Pass didn’t get hugely successful by putting backwards compatibility behind a paywall.

  • It is a such a shame that I cannot buy 1 more year or 3 moree months of PlayStation Now from the PS Store. I can only buy 1 month of PS Now from the PS Store.

Hopefully people can get a discount on PS+ Essential/Premium if they are subscribed to PS Plus Essential.

  • How about region change for accounts? There are a few users (myself included) asking for this for years now.

I no longer live in the US and I do not want to create a new account and lose all of my content bought and trophies. With PS+ and PSNow merged and a US account in a contry that does not have PSNow, even with the PS+ Deluxe, I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to do anything with it.

  • This comes across as an underwhelming and desperate attempt to compete with Microsoft Xbox’s Game Pass. And perhaps because it is. I would rather Sony Interactive Entertainment stop fleecing and lying to its customers, with the most recent examples being multiple issues of concern regarding the Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West launches, amongst others. Many thanks.

  • Is Cloud streaming available in India ?

  • If PS1, PS2 and PSP games are downloadable, that means there is an official way to emulate those consoles on PS4 and PS5.

Please make it possible to just buy these games without the need for a subscription. Let me use my PS One Classics again I bought for PSP, PS Vita and PS3 years ago, or even let me insert my old PS1/PS2 discs and play them. I have a lot of very niche old PS2 games I would love to play again on new hardware that I bet will never make it to the SEN even if you allow people to buy the titles, like the Xenosaga trilogy.

  • Oh Boy Canada looking to be on the short side again when it come to pricing…So Premium at $17.99 US$, what will the Cdn Price be $23.99 per month, which is over twice the amount I pay Xbox for PC Game Pass……hopefully this is not messed up and i am not paying more for the same thing……lets see come June….

  • Hi Friends and PS family!

For me, the questions that need to be asked and answered are:

    1. If I have Essential, can I upgrade to the next tier?

    2. With all the terms and conditions proposed. If I’m “subscribed to Essentials” until December and PS Now until August (so to speak). How would my membership work?

The new PlayStation Plus is excellent for me, i’m really glad

I think all games (PS 1, 2, 3) should be downloadable

  • Looking forward to seeing the list of games. Especially the PS3 games.

  • What about Vita games?

  • If Remember Me will be added to the list of PS3 games for the new ps+ and I’m paying, no questions asked.

  • Any changes coming to the “cloud storage for saved games” feature? Or are we still capped at the number of saves we can save in the cloud and only use less than 2% of the amount of cloud storage we’re supposedly allowed to have? Since you’re revamping the service, should be a good time to revamp the language used around the cloud storage features and emphasize the cap on the number of files allowed, which is going to be hit long, long before the amount of storage we are supposedly allowed to have

  • Man, it’s like NSO Expansion Pack 2 in here. Nooooo thanks.

Also, still unable to play PS3 on-system when playing them on PC has been feasible for years on even PS4 Pro equivalent hardware is… disappointing,. It’s never a good look when you have a subscription service look like it’s going into $100+ a year, especially with no upgrade path in sight for some pre-existing subscribers.

  • Why it is not available in Asian countries like India ?
You all are just robbing our countries by selling your expensive consoles
    Make it available in India

  • I don’t get the negativity. This is far better value than Game Pass for a similar price. Game Pass has what, 70 titles at a time? This is up to 700 titles for a similar monthly fee, even cheaper with a yearly sub. So, we don’t get day 1 releases? How many of you subbed to Gamepass just to play the day 1 release to then cancel and wait for the next one that tickles your fancy? It’s not sustainable. The only gripes I have with this is still no native support for Backwards Compat without a pay wall, the lack of Vita titles, and the lack of PS3 native support. Otherwise, it’s a great value.

    • You could have “PS+ Premium” before by just buying both PS+ and PSNow together and pay € 120 per year.

Don’t you do see nothing has really changed right? Except PSNow players that don’t want/need PS+ are now forced to play double the yearly fee.

  • I have 4 more years on my PS Plus account. What will the option for upgrade be?

  • What do you mean Sony by saying ps+ essential will remain the same as it is right now??? What you mentioned is not the same.

    2 games monthly?

We get 3 each month. Another stealth nerf to your users??

First you brought it down from 4 to 3 couple of years ago then raised the price and now you are making it 2 per month.

Sony has become a joke. Continuously testing the water and our patience.

    • Seriously, just like they did with the $10 price increase. And people will silence anyone who speaks up about it for “being a broken record” (A.K.A. shooting the messenger) or excuse it with “we’re paying for GOOD quality! 😌”
I keep seeing the latter with Twitter console warriors, & the former happened to me PERSONALLY when I detailed my experience with PlayStation’s Refund Policy being dishonest.

I miss the age of when people actually held Sony accountable, in the PS3 & Vita days with Class Actions.
