New games announced at PS5 Showcase, including Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, and a new God of War title

This is truly an exciting time for all of us at PlayStation. Over the past few months, we’ve been able to show you a glimpse of the stunning new games being created for PlayStation 5, taking advantage of the console’s unique capabilities to deliver lightning-fast loading, heightened immersion, and a whole new generation of experiences. And we’re excited that the time for you to experience these brave new adventures is almost here.

As we have just announced in our PS5 Showcase, we’re only a couple of months away from launching the next generation of play. Starting on November 12, PS5 will be available in seven key markets: the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The global rollout will continue on November 19 with launches throughout the rest of the world*, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa. PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399.99 USD/$499 CAD/¥39,980/€399.99/£359.99 (MSRP), and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be available for an RRP of $499.99 USD/$629 CAD/¥49,980/€499.99/£449.99 (MSRP). Pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers, so please check with your local retailer.

We’re pleased to provide choice to gamers with two PS5 console options at launch, depending on if you want a digital-only experience or prefer disc-based gaming. Whichever PS5 you choose, you’ll enjoy the same breathtaking, next-gen gaming experiences. Both PS5 models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity visuals, including 4K graphics and ray-tracing support, as well as the same ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for lightning-fast loading. PS5’s 3D audio and the DualSense Wireless Controller will also provide the same heightened sense of immersion on all PS5s. 

We are proud of the breadth of games being created for PS5, and it’s our goal to continue filling our portfolio with new, rich experiences from the most talented game creators in the industry. Today we shared a sneak peek at the following new games coming to PS5:

These newly revealed titles, along with the games we’ve shown previously, represent the best lineup we’ve ever seen in PlayStation history. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and Demon’s Souls will launch alongside the console. Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5. 

Additionally, we know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4. While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

For PlayStation Plus members, we’ll have a special new offering on PS5 – the PlayStation Plus Collection**. PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more. The PS Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus members receive for a single subscription price.

    So, I followed the directions in the PlayStation Direct email at the specified time. It led to a page of PS5 accessories but no consoles. Apparently, even Sony doesn’t have the consoles they are trying to sell.

    Sony you are ridiculous. My town in West Virginia got a total of 17 pre orders for ps5. 9 first time and 8 today. Waited in line both times to not get one. Why not let whoever wants to preorder one do so and u fill orders. Then what’s left u have for launch. Ridiculous. Have a feeling many gonna switch to xbox.

    Let’s start out with this. Those in the community can comment as well. I’ve been a playstation supporter since the first playstation, why is it that every time a new incarnation of the PlayStation comes out i have to go through hoops to get it? I know sony has a way to tell who the new core and hardcore supporters are, It should be automatic to receive an invite to the new generation. This is how you loose loyal supporters. Find a better way!!!!

    To everyone who seems this, it’s nothing to bring down the Sony name. In fact I would have rathered sent it privately. But first and foremost, I love sony! Been a die hard fan since the original playstation released. I remember playing at the store because my family was far to poor to afford it, but I went to that store as often as my mother would take me just so I could at least look upon it. Sadly it wasn’t until about 1999 when I finally got one of my own used. Coming from a poor family I never got luxuries like that. So you could guess that I was overly excited ! My first game was Final fantasy 7 and with that I felt complete. Even into my early adulthood I still couldn’t get a ps2 new, all my worl money went towards taking care of my mother and younger brother, so around 2003 I got my first ps2! I was so happy, but a part of me was upset because I wasn’t financially stable enough to get a console day 1. I watched all the news reports with testimonials about people’s buying experience and how excited they were to finally get the ps2, and I felt that excitement but wish I had it day one as well, but it was ok because there are more newer consoles to come in time :) fast forward to when the ps3 released , I saved up scraps from my checks to cover it but the price was so high…I thought for sure I’d get in on it day one this time but to my dismay , I couldn’t make it happen. My son was born that year and with a newborn it was so hard for me to save even that much. But again , it’s ok . I love sony so much that I’d eventually get it used in order to play my favorite console brand :) flash forward again, ps4 was on the horizon, my son being 7 at this time and was already loving games like his dad :) I found out early on that he has autism but I didn’t let that disable my son and raised him to feel like he’s able to do anything anyone else can. But sadly he can’t , his coordination and motor skills are limited so he can’t play sports or things of that nature in a competitive manner:( so I decided since he likes watching me play my playstation so much that I’d let him play my old catalog of ps1, ps2 and ps3 games and of them all he loves the simple ones like Spiro, Jake and Daxter and especially Ratchet and Clank ( he also loved thale movie lol) so I eventually bought a ps4 new but about 3 months after release ( still in a bad money spot 😣) but I got it. There wasn’t too many games he could handle so he mostly just watched me play dark souls etc , but I promised him Sony will release another and eventually they did, a remake of the first one! Thats his favorite in the series and he cried when I first got it for him “best Christmas ever daddy” I did a good job that year 😊

    Fast forward again, things are looking better for us, we have a house, a dog financially great! So I told him, “this time we are getting a console DAY 1″ I had a huge grin on my face because the time had come, I finally get a day one console! And my sons favorite series and one of mine will be launch titles! ” this is perfect!” My son said to me now being 13. So we watched the sony press event and we were so excited nothing else in the world mattered to us in this moment. I told him that we are going to go online the minute preorders are open. He couldn’t stop jumping in excitement! :) I wait till midnight of the 17th to start my preorder, I was quick to get on I felt like I was the first in the world to be on that fast. But it was odd, everything was sold out, so I tried another site and another but no luck . I was so confused, maybe a glitch? So I looked online to see if anyone had this issue….I was blue in the face, I looked at my son and began to tear up….the preorders started a day early 😟 I felt my stomach drop , because more then myself, I just wanted to give my son what I never had , to experience this moment with me for the first time together. I had to tell him the bad news, he just stopped jumping his arms fell and he went to his room, I feel like I wrecked his world. I know now that it wasn’t all your fault, I heard rumors that stores dropped the ball on the preorders. Again to anyone who reads this, I’m not mad at Sony, they have alot on their plate and they want to give us what they always have, great entertainment! This doesn’t change anything , I’m still the biggest playstation fan hands down! I only write this to make you aware of how this effects people , to most people its just a entertainment device used to distract us from our worries etc , but to those like my son, it’s his way of expressing himself in a way he can’t do in real life :( Love you guys! Keep up the good work and keep making Greatness!!

    I already gave up on Sony due to the failed pre order promise, I was ready to go they promised an announcement with plenty of time and screwed me. I bought a RTX 3080 card instead and will likely move all gaming to the pc for the next year at least maybe for good. Shameful time to have been a ps fan, they will gladly sell to scalpers to try to drive up interest and ignore actual users. Shame on you Sony.

    This release of the system has by far over the past 25 years been the worst. Not just by the early releases, but the bots capitalizing on the release, and limited prerelease in store… I hope Sony will be able to meet the demand so that we don’t have tons of broken hearted kids this season. India may not be a huge market for you but for us PlayStation will always be special. Please don’t treat as as a second world country. We are no less than anyone in US or UK. Do not keep us in the dark. It’s about time you give us the same treaty as other countries. I leave it to your fair judgement.

    I love how they underestimated the number of individuals that would want a PS5. Every time they announce a location that will have additional pre-orders available, I see people camping out the night before. The local GameStop had one individual there at 8pm the night prior waiting for the doors to open at Noon the next day. That is crazy.

    PS5 has actual launch exclusives. Actual monster exclusives in year one. Why tf would u get an SX or weak SS day one when u have to wait 3+ years for actual exclusives?

    Series S is weaker than PS4 Pro and will play XB1 S versions of XB1 games because it’s too weak to run 1X versions. Expect a ton of 900p for XB1 games on Series S. How tf do u consider that next gen?

    1X already plays games in 4k and SX has no exclusives the first 2 years, so why buy it at launch?

    PS5 has actual next gen exclusives at launch. Demon’s Souls Remake and Godfall can’t be played on last gen systems. It also has the advantage of enhancing VR. A plethora of giant exclusives launch year one also.
