This is truly an exciting time for all of us at PlayStation. Over the past few months, we’ve been able to show you a glimpse of the stunning new games being created for PlayStation 5, taking advantage of the console’s unique capabilities to deliver lightning-fast loading, heightened immersion, and a whole new generation of experiences. And we’re excited that the time for you to experience these brave new adventures is almost here.

As we have just announced in our PS5 Showcase, we’re only a couple of months away from launching the next generation of play. Starting on November 12, PS5 will be available in seven key markets: the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The global rollout will continue on November 19 with launches throughout the rest of the world*, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa. PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399.99 USD/$499 CAD/¥39,980/€399.99/£359.99 (MSRP), and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be available for an RRP of $499.99 USD/$629 CAD/¥49,980/€499.99/£449.99 (MSRP). Pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers, so please check with your local retailer.

We’re pleased to provide choice to gamers with two PS5 console options at launch, depending on if you want a digital-only experience or prefer disc-based gaming. Whichever PS5 you choose, you’ll enjoy the same breathtaking, next-gen gaming experiences. Both PS5 models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity visuals, including 4K graphics and ray-tracing support, as well as the same ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for lightning-fast loading. PS5’s 3D audio and the DualSense Wireless Controller will also provide the same heightened sense of immersion on all PS5s. 

We are proud of the breadth of games being created for PS5, and it’s our goal to continue filling our portfolio with new, rich experiences from the most talented game creators in the industry. Today we shared a sneak peek at the following new games coming to PS5:

These newly revealed titles, along with the games we’ve shown previously, represent the best lineup we’ve ever seen in PlayStation history. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and Demon’s Souls will launch alongside the console. Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5. 

Additionally, we know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4. While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

For PlayStation Plus members, we’ll have a special new offering on PS5 – the PlayStation Plus Collection**. PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more. The PS Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus members receive for a single subscription price.

    Question about the PS5 – my son has a PS4 and I ‘think’ that most of his games are now downloaded instead of discs. Can he transfer all of those games to the PS5?

    Hi there, before any of the PS5pre-orders started, on the playstation website it was stated that “existing playstation customers” would be given an offer to pre order first. Seeing as I have been with PS4 way back since December, 2013 I signed up for this feature with my online ID. I never got any news from any of the platforms that I requested PS5 updates from when they were available such as Bestbuy and Playstation so I missed the train on those pre orders which was very disappointing. My question is: Do you plan on honouring what you said on your website? because frankly I don’t think you think you get more “existing” than I do with the PS4.

    I wish that in the sometime in the future PlayStation can make it when you want to remove multiple friends there’s an option that you can click on to selecta the mount of friends you have stoped playing with so that you can have room to add more friends like if you wanted to remove multiple Friends because you have over 1’234 players in the friend list and a lot of them you don’t play or talk to anymore so that you can add ones that you do talk too and I wish the following list too

    Mr. Ryan, I am looking forward to the upcoming release of PS5, the specs have wetted the appetite of many Loyal Sony PlayStation customers. I must admit, however, when I had received my pre-order email I was beyond elated; but when I added the product to my cart and went to purchase my pre-order, I was utterly disappointed by the system failing continually to process my order. I attempted this pre-order a few times until the “Pre-Order” icon changed to “Coming Soon”. I had registered to receive updates and the pre-order opportunity a while ago and had looked forward to the day it would be available. I hope that the misery I have experienced as well as that of fellow gamers will be alleviated and not Placated with some sort of apology. Please be a man of action and give the gamers who registered what they were looking for in the first place, the ability to spend a lot of money on the latest PlayStation product so that we can enjoy, somewhat at least, the isolated time spent during the miserable pandemic that is affecting us all.

    How do we get the attention of playstation to add the option for 1440p. It’s a massive gap to go from 1080p to 4K with no in between option. I’m sure there’s a sizable population with monitors, and pc gamers looking to get a ps5. What would make this transition easier is an 1440p option, from what I’ve heard Xbox already has this option. Please Sony add this option, anyone else agree?

    Hello, could someone answer the simple question : will it be able to output or decode (or whatever the heck it has to do) dolby atoms sound ? At least for movies ?

    I am about to switch to Xbox for this simple reason…

    I have two speakers in my ceiling (that were not easy to install) in order to create the atmos effect for a total 7 speaker system and I can’t be paying thousands of $ for a “new” system that can’t handle that

    So Atmos for movies , yes or no ? how about games ?

    I was sorely disappointed in the RESERVATION email I received. At first was beyond excited then quickly soured. Waited my turn then as it his ITS YOUR TURN. The screen sent me right back in the waiting room for another 45min!!! When my original wait time was only 15min since I was logged in early to secure an early purchase time. Finally when I got in no ps5 consoles were showing up for preorder only the accessories. Will there be a second round to be sent out?? Very disappointed in the way preorders went. What was the point in registering for a “selection” and getting the email with big “CONGRATULATIONS ” when you knew there would not be as many consoles available as there were emails sent out.

    The pre order for the PS5 was a ridiculous mess on behalf of my kids and all the people that were not able to get a pre order. I have purchased every console playstation has offered for pre order and picked up on launch for years with no issues always got notification from websites and was ready early to get order put in as soon as it became available. To say that myself and kids like many other dedicated playstation followers are extremely dissapointed would just not seem like enough. I not only didn’t get a pre order secured but I had to tell my children it is not ordered when I was asked by my 11 year old child with a huge smile on his face. Deep breath

    If the purpose of Digital edition is to get rid of retailers then all games for digital should be at least $10-$15 cheaper than disc based. Why would I buy a digital version of a PS5? Need better marketing on that.

    My decision to go PC or PS5 this time around will be determined by 2 must have things. 1. Discord- if discord or a similar sony developed app is not available I can no longer support play station. With every game going forward essentially being crossplay I need a more stable way to communicate with my friends and teammates. Is Discord going to be compatible with the PS5? 2. Field of View (FOV), will I be able to change my FOV on games like COD Cold War? Again, with crossplay on my favorite games, going against PC players with a 100-120 FOV really puts console at a disadvantage in game, A disadvantage I am no longer willing to just deal with.     With annoying limited pre-orders what is sony doing to stop people from buying consoles simply to resell for a stupid steap price. Target specifically had someone bragging they were able to secure 89 concoles.

    “My boys were able to grab 89 PS5.. making mad loot and now i plan to scalp and resell this. Dont bother pre-ordering. Just get from me”

    Hey Sony, 25 year, 11 consoles purchased over the course of the first 4 versions of PlayStations not including PSPs and PSVR, maybe a 1000 games purchased over that time.

    2 paid PSN accounts in 1 house.
    Clangman has been a paid PSN subscriber from the beginning, 2006.
    Aggiepooh a paid PSN subscriber since 2012.

    Both of us signed up for direct PS5 purchase through Sony, neither of us got the invite. We couldn’t afford to get 2 PS5’s at launch, but 1 that we could share would have been nice. I’ve gotten all versions of the PlayStation on launch day, including the PS4 Pro & PSVR

    Anyway, managed to get an xBox series X preordered today. I would love to get a PS5 invite from Sony and I’ll cancel my xBox immediately.

    Please send out more invites. I know you announced sending more consoles to retailers but those retailers completely screwed up the preorders, why are you rewarding them??? You said preorders start tomorrow and they went ahead and started preorders 3 1/2 hours after your announcement.

    Reward the loyal, valued, PSN customers that signed up to preorder directly from Sony.

    This preorder launch was horrible, if you were a Japanese company you would have no honor right now… oh wait. You must be Sony America because Sony Japan would never allow such an embarrassing mistake to happen without making it right to their loyal customers.

    I am under the impression that the new PS5 camera will not work with our PSVR. I pre-ordered the camera with the assumption that it would work. But then, after the fact, I read that you could only use the old PS4 camera and had to get an adapter for it to work? I’m hoping this is not the case, but if in-fact it is, then where and would one get the adapter?

    Just wanna say how disappointed I am with the preordering. I’ve been a loyal customer since day 1 and the fact that people & bots are getting preorders just to resell them on eBay for double the price is ridiculous when people like me actually want the console for our own use. Smh. Just…smh.

      totally agree. This was beyond frustrating. And i reiterate what is the criteria to get an email if that even helped at all. Sony can really differentiate themselves by letting loyal fans get a slot to preorder but i doubt it. It is corporate business and all about the benjamins, as long as it sells that is what matters. Prove me wrong Sony.

    I’m eagerly (I’d be lying if I say “patiently” because I’m not patient at all xD) awaiting the next batch of console pre-orders! I missed the first lot because I was at work and wasn’t prepared so everything was sold out! WELL NOT THIS TIME! I’M READY FOR THE NEXT WAVE OF PRE-ORDERS! SHOW ME THE MONEYYYYY!!!
