New games announced at PS5 Showcase, including Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy, and a new God of War title

This is truly an exciting time for all of us at PlayStation. Over the past few months, we’ve been able to show you a glimpse of the stunning new games being created for PlayStation 5, taking advantage of the console’s unique capabilities to deliver lightning-fast loading, heightened immersion, and a whole new generation of experiences. And we’re excited that the time for you to experience these brave new adventures is almost here.

As we have just announced in our PS5 Showcase, we’re only a couple of months away from launching the next generation of play. Starting on November 12, PS5 will be available in seven key markets: the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The global rollout will continue on November 19 with launches throughout the rest of the world*, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa. PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $399.99 USD/$499 CAD/¥39,980/€399.99/£359.99 (MSRP), and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be available for an RRP of $499.99 USD/$629 CAD/¥49,980/€499.99/£449.99 (MSRP). Pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers, so please check with your local retailer.

We’re pleased to provide choice to gamers with two PS5 console options at launch, depending on if you want a digital-only experience or prefer disc-based gaming. Whichever PS5 you choose, you’ll enjoy the same breathtaking, next-gen gaming experiences. Both PS5 models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity visuals, including 4K graphics and ray-tracing support, as well as the same ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for lightning-fast loading. PS5’s 3D audio and the DualSense Wireless Controller will also provide the same heightened sense of immersion on all PS5s. 

We are proud of the breadth of games being created for PS5, and it’s our goal to continue filling our portfolio with new, rich experiences from the most talented game creators in the industry. Today we shared a sneak peek at the following new games coming to PS5:

These newly revealed titles, along with the games we’ve shown previously, represent the best lineup we’ve ever seen in PlayStation history. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, and Demon’s Souls will launch alongside the console. Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5. 

Additionally, we know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4. While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

For PlayStation Plus members, we’ll have a special new offering on PS5 – the PlayStation Plus Collection**. PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more. The PS Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus members receive for a single subscription price.

    So I have most of my games digitally on my external sea gate ps4 hard drive. If I were to plug this into the ps5 would it format it thus erasing my games or accept it and start downloading whatever I have in the hard drive

    This is ridiculous! Sony, you announce a preorder date 2 days in advance? Then, stores sell them a day before they were supposed to? This is very bad customer service!!! I have been a ps plus member since it was developed!! I have owned every PlayStation console, but because stores sold them a day early, I can’t preorder one? This was horrible on your part! You know you will need millions of consoles!!! Yet, you only put out a few preorders??? I’m sorry, but if you don’t offer a special price or include a free game as an apology, I will switch to Xbox. I’ve always had both consoles, but if you don’t fix this, you will lose a life long customer!

    This is such BS, I been waiting for PS5 for a long time. Back in April I purchased a 65 inch LG C9 TV because of the new HDMI 2.1 so I can get the full 4k 120HZ and 120 FPS experience. I have had a PS4 since launch and played it daily and have spent well over $2500+ on digital purchases. I prefer having a digital library now despite being old school. I signed up for the pre-order the moment they opened it up and I have never received an email. I watched the showcase and got excited and then Sony said that Pre-orders would be live the following morning. I took their word on that only to found out later that walmart went live an hour after the show case so I was unable to order one because of the scalper bots. I seen one guy on eBay that somehow got 30 systems preordered. I managed to add one to cart for best buy but wasn’t able to check out. I am very disappointed in Sony right now. I have been loyal to them since PlayStation 1. I have had a PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 since launch and this is how they treat me. I still have all my systems. Maybe we all should start a class action against Sony and the retailers.

    As an OG gamer, I really thought I would get an invite to a PS Direct preorder. I was saddened when not only did I get an invite, but I believed their official announcement that preorders would begin the next day. I went to bed early, waking up ready to fight for a preorder only to find out everywhere was sold out already. All of the gamers who believed the hype got pushed out and all the resellers are owners of PS5 preorders now.

    You guys should get a team together and bring back a new and improved version of “Initial D” I think that would be a great add for the racing genre for the Playstation 5 and it would bring fans together all over the world with a match making system that let’s you tackle activities and different adventures including story mod withs friends and diffrent players around tge world while showing off the vast and specific modifications systems rims wide body kits basically 360 uniqe visual customization including deep Initial Tuning that let’s you modify forced induction systems maf system for air intake fuel regulation tire chamber sway bar adjustments brakes suspension and the list goes on! And the online competitive system is limitless from created factions to team battles that put your team against another in a round type system of best 2 out of 3 ect. on top of style points you’ll collect for taking short cuts passing your opponents whlie drifting stylishly to the finish and let’s not forget the Video/Photo system so that you can document and edit your encounters in Toyota thank you to all the guys at Playstation for keeping the dream alive I’ve been a huge fan and it all started at a young age so thank you for making my childhood and Adulthood Memorable in the Revolution of Sony Playstation Gaming!

    I don’t really understand the complaints for digital games. You do own them. Once you buy them, they’re yours lol. No ones gonna take them away. And you can re download them anytime. Sure, in the rare instance, a game can be pulled down for whatever reason. But your digital copy is still yours. It can’t be removed from your console.

    I have hundreds of physical and digital. Only one digital game I’ve had a problem with. Duke 3d megaton edition. It was pulled from the PS store. But I still have the game on my system and can still play it. Not a big deal. It’s mine. I own it. No one can tell me I can’t play it, or take it from me. Come on people. Lol.

    Here’s my comment. I have a PS2 and a PS3, as games become more “realistic” they become less realistic to me. But I digress, my real gripe here is with my sign up for Pre-Order with Gamestop and the horrendous dealing with me. They basically sent me an email that said watch this, and that day I was busy. But the next day I looked at that mail, I go to pre-order and my Pre-order sign up means NOTHING. I do not appreciate the fact that they screwed me, and for whatever reason, perhaps the idiots in Ebay marking them up before they were ever sold made them make this decision. I am a gamer, I game because it distracts me from the great pain I have daily as a handicapped person.. And for the decided this and basically took some of our dream away and left me with more pain for awhile, you all can kiss the dark spot on my lily white behind. Gamestop I would have bought the whole 599 system and every peripheral for CASH. Cash I have been saving for this opportunity. Now I bought every peripheral for pre-order at Best Buy but I have no console. May you all have the pain I have for one day in your life, curse you!

    I am frustrated with the way preorders were handled. I filled up on the playstation website to get a preorder but got no email. I keep logging in Amazon etc to try get a preorder but to no avail. Will I ever get this Console this holiday I am beginning to wonder or should I just default to the Series x preorders on Tuesday

    I think it’s deplorable how these pre-orders were handled. I think that Sony’s first priority should have been to its registered users, I signed on to playstation .com with the hope of being one of the lucky ones to get an invite (I’ve been a loyal playstation customer since PS1, had playstation plus, bought 2 VR headsets and numerous consoles). But who made out? the scalpers who I’ve heard were able to pre order multiple ps5s and are selling them on eBay as high as $50,000. I’m still getting a PS5 disc edition (I hope) cause I love and believe in the product.

    Also pretty miffed I wasn’t selected for the preorder email. As fast as I replied, and as long as I’ve been putting most of my free time and money into their products I feel I should have, but that’s just life. I’m tempted to cancel the full line of accessories I ordered on their website in anticipation of being selected, but I’ll still end up with one somehow.
    That being said, for telling us ‘as soon as tomorrow’… well, screw you too, Sony.

    My crappy 2020 so far; February on furlough. Late May PS4 HDMI output goes bad moving it to higher shelf away from kids, had to go out and buy a new one. Early June TV died, takes best buy two and a half months to replace my TV. Now still on furlough won’t be able to get the PS5.

    First gen I won’t buy into at launch. The increase in game prices this gen is outrageous. I’m not paying 95 dollars in the EU for a game. With season passes and mictrotransactions you’ll be expected to sink in 500+ euro’s in a single release. No thanks.

    I’d rather pay 600$ or even 700$ for ps5 with ps3 backward compatibility than this… Or at least possibility to buy new ps3. Not solving this issue is quite unfriendly customer policy. Cause… I have more than 200 games for ps3. My ps3 is quite old. And when it breaks (nothing lasts forever), I will lose access to my games. Same happened with my ps2, I had about 150 games there. So, I would be fool to trust this won’t happen with my ps4 games or ps5 games in the future. So why I should pay for something, which will be “stolen” from me in the future? It is quite unfair to ppl who support you with their money. Unfortunetly, with experience from ps2 and ps3, I can’t invest in ps5. And I believe there are more people with similar concerns. It is not meant as hate, more like… something to think about.
