PS Plus: Free Games for April 2015

Brace yourselves, people! We have another great lineup of games coming to PlayStation Plus this month. With shooters, puzzle games, platformers, and more, we have a little something for everyone this April.

To start things off, allow us to present Tower of Guns on PS4 and PS3. It’s about a tower filled with guns. And so much more! Shooter fans, prepare for an adrenaline-pounding challenge through a randomized tower with enemies, bosses, power-ups, and little robots that just want to hug you. Also on PS4, explore the Alaskan wilderness with Never Alone, a beautiful puzzle game with an adorable pet fox. Guide a native Alaskan girl through harsh environments in a touching effort to save her village.

For Plus members gaming on PS3, look out for Dishonored, the critically acclaimed stealth game that celebrates player choice above all else. Also in the mix is Aaru’s Awakening, a stunning platformer that’s also available on PS4. And for PS Vita, both Killzone Mercenary and MonsterBag are joining the Plus lineup this month.

These games will be free for PlayStation Plus members next week Tuesday when the PlayStation Store updates. Enjoy!

  • Hentay, you aren’t even a PS+ subscriber, so why complain? Try some new games once in a while instead of all the big ones. You might find some that are fun to play.

  • While I understand the lack of AAA titles for PS4 that you guys can afford to give out for free, which results in indies, most of us don’t want them. Not to sound ungrateful, but these aren’t actually “free” games, we pay to rent them. Which means we’re unconsciously paying for the indies you guys release. I haven’t played one indie so far on the PS4 (except Transistor, if thats an indie) because they just look uninteresting after reading about them. I bought a PS4 for the big stuff. So maybe you guys should just substitute PS4 games for PS1 Classics for the Vita/PS3 or something until you can afford to give out games that people will feel justify their PS4. It will keep down the arguments. No disrespect.

  • Great line-up.

  • Why no more AAA Vita games like Killzone Mercenary, why? Why… ;(

  • BEYOND!

  • The gameplay with Never Alone isn’t revolutionary, and the jumping / landing dynamics mean that you’ll suffer some cheap deaths. But I really enjoyed watching the videos that you unlock along the way, and discovering there that the game has actually done an amazing job of bringing of all of the real-world stories and art to life. And the guy who finds himself on an iceburg that breaks off from the land … yikes.

  • SORRY BUT

When are you going to stop treating PS4 users with contempt? You should be encouraging PS3 users to upgrade. Oh wait, you don’t have to give us decent games because we have to subscribe to play online. 1.5 retail games in 18 months is a JOKE.

Never Alone is worth a play for anyone that hasn’t played it but there are enough worthless PS4 games now to be giving us.
Please give us retail games for PS4, you treating PS4 users like second-class citizen.
Bring on Knack or Wolfenstein, its enough with those indiegames.

  • Dishonored is a GREAT addition to the lineup! Glad to see this!

  • I like the line-up for PS Plus 3 PS4 games AY caramba!!!!!!

  • Yay more indie games. :/

Dishonered is the only thing i’m even rometely interested in and i’ve already beaten that.

  • Stoked for this lineup. Something great on every platform!

Never Alone, Dishonored, and Killzone Mercs!

Not heard of the other 3, but I’ll probably check them out too.

  • Dangit. Update Vita for Killzone or keep Youtube app….. choices.

  • I promised myself I wouldn’t renew my sub, but I really wanted to co-op in Bloodborne. Isn’t there any way to make a different sub system that costs less for those who only want to play online? I couldn’t care less about these PS+ games and I don’t want to pay 50 bucks a year just use my PS4 online (which doesn’t make much sense) :(

  • Great lineup! Tower of Guns is really good. And I’ve been wanting to try Aaru’s Awakening and Never Alone, so now I’ll have an excuse to. MonsterBag looks interesting as well.

My advice to those who have never played Dishonored is to buy the DLC. It’s like a whole other game, and tells as good of a (if not better) story from a different character’s point of view.

Killzone: Mercenary is also solid – easily the best FPS on the Vita. Maybe this will get the multiplayer servers populated again?

Thanks, Ryan, for getting the update out on time this month!

  • While I don’t mind the smaller games on ps4, I think it would be nice to get some of the older AAA games from the first year of ps4. Some of these games are pretty cheap now in stores or online so they should be considered for plus. I would love a Lego Marvel, Ac Black Flag, Killzone or other launch titles for plus. The two most interesting games (dishonored and Killzone Mercenary) I already own. Thanks.

  • Weak Month

  • Two reasons i never buy indy games:
    1. Inflated prices. 15-20 for most of them is dumb.
    2. They’re all we get on plus.

  • Another month, another round of lame free games.

  • When are we gonna get a KZM2?

  • Does March 31 count? or we have to wait on April 7?

  • #whinybabies

  • Wow. Pretty sure this is the first month where I’ll download ALL of them. Good work, Sony people.

  • First time in ages that there is nothing of interest for me. Ah well, don’t sweat the small stuff!

  • i Know

  • Another PS4 dissapointment. At least I have both vita and PS3

  • great month! I already have KZ Mercenaries but I’m really happy about MonsterBag and Never Alone

  • Looks like we actually got a decent line-up for a change. There’s a few of these I’ve been wanting to try, but haven’t got around to yet.

  • Excellent month for which we have PS3 and Vita, but I estimate that for users who only have PS4 mmmmm

  • I already own Dishonored. Killzone doesn’t look bad.

The rest, as usual, is indie garbage.

Now that I own a PS4, I don’t really have a choice but to keep my PS+ subscription. But, for the past MANY MOONS, I have been watching each month’s now IGC offerings with increasing levels of sardonic amusement. You want so badly to capture the indie game fanbase, thinking that that’s the direction that gaming is going in, but no one buys a $399.99 console to play ports of Android/iOS games that came out years ago.

  • Really great set of games. Definitely most excited about the indie titles this month!

  • Good month for PS3 and Vita. Terrible for PS4 -__-

  • @Dragonchasers That’s because its the survey for last months games.

I thought everyone who owns a Vita owned KZ Mercs, seems like some folks haven’t played it though. Great addition for those who don’t have it. I also am getting tired of Indies on PS4, that’s just my opinion.

  • PS4 last few months has been more rather boring selection. With the exception of a couple of games. For me anyway. Glad I still have my ps3. Poor birthday on ps4 for me it looks. Was hoping to see a retail game, or free roam action. Willing to give those games a try at least. But it looks like ill be getting on my ps3 more this month

  • Careful, Sony! PS+ is giving me the idea I won’t ever need to buy a game again!

  • I am really happy for the Vita owners that don’t have Killzone. It’s been a long time since a game this good (Soul Sacrifice) was on the igc. I bought it day one and platted it, it’s that good! I don’t even think I will bother with the PS4 games. I have been hoping we would see Splinter Cell Blacklist for the PS3 but I’ll probably buy a retail version soon since its pretty cheap these days. This will be another month for me to work on my backlog. Not sure if PS+ is right for me anymore.

  • Yeah indie title after indie title for ps4. What gives? Are they more willing to make a deal for plus? Given they are indie.

  • Dishonored is the ish, and Never Alone is the ish… Unfortunately I already beat them both xD You all will enjoy them though. Not too optimistic about the other two games though =/

  • holy hell. Killzone for free!?

  • Nothing interesting for PS4, as always. I didn’t buy a PS4 to play games like these. That’s why I didn’t renew my Plus subscription.

  • Another insulting line-up for PS4. Absolute SHOVELWARE that belongs in a trashcan and not taking space up on anyone’s HDD…. #PS+SUCKS. Worst mistake I ever made in gaming was buying a PS4, never thought I’d say that…… Other than Bloodborne, ZERO Reason to own a PS4 ZERO.

Now that I threw this Junk mail out, let me go check my Mail box in front of my house and my Spam in my Email, so I can toss them out too…..

  • Overall an ok month, I think imo 360 was the best of the four consoles this month. I want to try Never Alone so def a good PS4 game, already have the Dishonored GOY edition. Little disappointed that no other retail game for PS3, just cross buys. Even though I want more retail PS4 games like Knack or Bound by Flame, the PS4 has had some better quality indie games in the recent months. At least I have my backlog of all the free games and .99 games I got a couple of weeks ago. Would say this is the worst month of the year so far, hopefully this isnt a trend.

  • Never alone looks like a great game I wanted to pick it up before but the price to me felt to high to purchase. Killzone is also a nice game but I dont have a vita. I will probably through Dishonored in my DL list and maybe even asuras wrath.

  • I’m strangely interested in Tower of Guns.

  • Not interested.

  • Great lineup, ill play all of them. thanks Ryan

  • I think people forget too that Xbox One has only had 1 retail game too, I am not sure why both systems are shafting people on the retail ones especially since both consoles have been out over a year. Heck look at One this month compared to 360, Child of Light saves it b/c if not they would be getting a free pool game.

  • @93 why would you be you dont have Plus

  • I always feel that much more stupid every time I read the comments on the PS Blog.

  • @84 how many of those backlog game did you get free, if a lot of them are than Plus is worth it, if not maybe it isnt for you.

  • Dishonored!!!! Tower of guns!!!! Monster Bag!!!!

Already have Killzone, but I am so stoked for Monster Bag!

We get 72 games for $50. That means that we are getting each of these games for $1.44…

Plus, there are the discounts, free season of Powers, etc…

Without a doubt, PS Plus is the best money I spend on my games!!!

Thanks again for another great month!

    • OH!!! We’re very glad you’re that excited about MonsterBag!!!
We hope you’ll have a great time playing it!!!
      =D
