Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. I would be reporting that several people who die in Latin America are having problems making the change of password through the console and through the Computer Pages are giving problems and not being sent any email to persons who carried out the Registration Hotmail.com using the system from Microsoft.
I want a response from a representative of the Company on the solution of this problem believe that this is occurring because of new security policies of the Company. Oh also people complaining that the First Attempt Console is marking the error 80023156 and quickly as possible.
Will they bring back the backwards compatibility to the slim models of the ps3 in later times?

Is there any estimated time-length for the PlayStation Store restoration? Not necessarily a specific date, but are we looking at another week, maybe 2 weeks? I know it’s not better business practice to say something that you can’t guarantee, but maybe some estimate as to what we are looking at.

I never had any doubt that Sony wouldn’t be able to live up to everything it’s been posting. Though PSN was down for almost a month, I can understand how much trouble it has been for all the employees working around the clock to get it restored, and I am very grateful that you managed to do it so well. This is why all Sony products are much better than Microsoft.

How come Europe gets a Ratchet And Clank game and we don’t? Don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT complaining. What you guys are offering for compensation is beyond EPIC! In fact, I’ve kinda forgotten about….what was it we were upset about….something….I forget…
Anyhoo,I’m just curious. Well… I am KINDA upset in the line-up change. I just want to clarify though, that I’m NOT trying to be ungrateful here…it’s just…I own ALL of the Ratchet And Clank games. ALL of them…BUT All 4 One (obviously) AND Quest For Booty. It’s the ONLY Ratchet And Clank game released that I’m missing. I saw that Quest For Booty was amongst the games to be offered and I almost shot out of my wheelchair with excitement…only to be slammed back down when I read it was only in Europe. So, hopefully you can understand why I’m a little disappointed.
So, my other question is this; is there anyway, anyway AT ALL to exchange BOTH of the PS3 games being offered for ONE Quest For Booty?

I have noticed that purchased content from before the shut down does not appear in my game play. eg, I purchased a kit upgrade for BFBC2 and the kit does not show up on my online multiplayer game play. Is there or there needs to be a better way to preserve earned or bought items for games instead of relying on the PSN store to constantly update your game play. I contacted EA and they said it was up to SONY, once their store was restored the items would return. I don’t think this an acceptable way of storing online game play, players should have ALL their bought items stored on their HD to restore issues like this. If I’m wrong please correct me, is there something I’m missing. When I contacted EA I included my online bill of sale from PSN, it seems they were able to see that I had purchased the items from PSN from their end.

Eh, OK Belay that Last Question, It’s on the DCUO Website, Anyway these have been my Firsts Posts EVER to the community, But this Question it for PSN, Will you Ever update The Browser? I cannot view many sites because it tells me my Browser is out of date. I cannot even POST comments on these blogs on the PS3 browser, (I am currently at PC) And DCUO.com, I can’t even view it from the PS3 browser. Anyway, I’ve done researched and asked questions about How we can update our PS3 web browser, and learned, we CAN’T. So are there any plans to make this better? I enjoy having ALL my Features all in one spot, My PS3 games, My Movies (Netflix) and BluRay. If only the Web browser was more sufficient without having to get up and go to the PC for certain (especially Game-related) Sites. Anyway Always been A PS3 and happy with All the other services, and have been waiting patiently through the shutdown. And DEFINITELY Happy PSN is back Online. Thanks

I haven’t been able to use my netflix account on my ps3 since the outage but now i can. Also i only have a three month subscription. So can Playstation please offer one free month of Netflix so people who were not able to watch Netflix and have three month subscriptions can get those 8$ worth that they lost.

The multiplayer for Patapon 3 requires a downloaded server usage license, which you get by entering a code into the store. I tried it on my PSP, and I was able to enter the code in and it showed up, but it then told me that the service was under maintenance when I tried to download it. Will code redemption services be up before or after the store, and would there be any way to allow things like this to be downloaded early?

Out of curiosity, does the RockBand network *require* the PS store? Because even though I have the update, I cannot connect to get stuff like leaderboards, etc.
I am ashamed to say I bought 3 months of xbox live because I got frustrated with not being able to play online but I wish I waited because PSN is now back so I wasted $25 on something I won’t play. But with that out the door, I would like you say thank you to Patrick, Jeff, and all of SCEI and SNEI you guys did a rocking job. Can’t wait for ps store to come back I have $20 burning a hole in my pocket. Also that “welcome back” program is way to much all of the loyal ps fans would agree you guys don’t need to give us anything, PSN is F-R-E-E.
