Sony Pictures Core, formerly Bravia Core, launches on PS5 and PS4 consoles; exclusive benefits including early access to select Sony Pictures films

Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story is currently in theaters and also available to buy now in select markets; available soon in additional regions with exclusive early access window on Sony Pictures Core.

Our friends at Sony Pictures Entertainment produce a lot of fantastic films, and today, I’m pleased to tell you about our new collaboration to provide the PlayStation community with access to some of these memorable movies on PS5 and PS4 consoles.

You may be familiar with the Bravia Core app, which is a great way to access a wide range of recent and classic films from Sony Pictures on Bravia TVs and select Xperia devices. Bravia Core will be rebranded to Sony Pictures Core on these devices next year, and starting today, we’re launching the Sony Pictures Core app on PS5 and PS4 consoles.

Once you sign up* for Sony Pictures Core on your PS4 or PS5, you will be able to buy or rent up to 2,000 movies** straight from your console. At launch, this will include blockbuster hits** such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, among others.

With Sony Pictures Core on PS5 and PS4, you’ll be able to purchase select Sony Pictures films during an exclusive, early access window – straight from your console. In select markets such as the U.K., France, Germany, and Japan, the first film with early access will be Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story, which is based on the unbelievable true story of a team of unlikely underdogs – a struggling working-class gamer, a failed former racecar driver, and an idealistic motorsport executive. Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the world.

Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story is currently available through Sony Pictures Core in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and will premiere soon in additional markets. With the purchase of this movie through Sony Pictures Core, you’ll receive credit*** towards an in-game purchase in GT7, including cars featured in the movie. The film is also IMAX Enhanced, delivering an elevated viewing experience with signature picture quality on PS5 and PS4 right in your living room*** *

If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe member, you’ll get access to a curated catalog of up to 100 movies*****  through the Sony Pictures Core app to stream on demand from the Sony Pictures library as part of your membership. The catalog, which will be ad-free and updated periodically, features movies such as Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation.** There will also be additional benefits for all PlayStation Plus members, so stay tuned for more details.

Sony Pictures Core is available starting today for PlayStation players in 23 markets globally. You can find the Sony Pictures Core app in the Media section on PS5 and on the PS Store for PS4.  For more information, please visit our webpage.

  • What would be nice is if we can get credit when we purchase games to go towards renting or even buying a movie. The problem is that I wouldn’t be able to watch movies I purchase from PS5 anywhere I want, so I would purchase them elsewhere for streaming on PC or phone.

  • I hope they get an update for the PS5. I’m still unable to play things the true IMAX enhanced way. Because true imax enhanced has dts:X audio. Everything on the app say Dolby Atmos. If they can fix that it will be a win.

  • Merci

  • So is this Sony bringing back the movies that we bought off the PS4? The movie section they removed??

  • I hope this is not the reason for the price increase. This is not available in Puerto Rico even though we’re a US territory…

  • Porque en mi play 5 no aparece esta aplicación???

  • En ecuador no aparece esta opción, cuando saldrá?????

  • So this is where the ridiculous increase in ps plus has gone. It’s definitely not in great Ps plus free monthly games. Unless I get a great discount by my December due date to renew I am close to letting it cancel my ps plus essential. It’s already highway robbery charging all these years to pay for online when Sony can’t make MP games.

    • The internet wonder why so many are glad that that Man is leaving. He had to back track on free upgrade of ps4 to ps5 games. He spent more time making HBO shows than games. PC gamers now get cheaper Sony exclusives. Sony couldn’t even keep mlb exclusive, where is Socom remake to have sure fire great MP or resistance? Bungie not even a real Sony studio etc. He leaves increasing price of ps plus by massive percent not worth premium not even essential.

  • Why does every Sony exclusives which that term is loosely labeled, now that we have PC, have a character that is only extremely low percent in the population? It seem like a mandate in every loose term Sony exclusive. Horizon FW DLC couldn’t give choice of natural relationship only the false rainbow coalition? No one begs for these characters in first nor 3rd party games 99% of the times.

  • This application is brand new, and it does not work on the PS5 🤔

  • Hello everyone. When Sony Pictures Core app will be available in Ukraine?

  • Please, bring Sony Pictures Core to Brazil. 🙏

  • Brasil?

  • Cade o Brasil PlayStation?! O aumento que vocês fizeram foi desumano!

  • Please make it compatible with PSVR2 in Cinematic Mode with Dolby Atmos!

  • I have tried to play imax movies but they are all in widescreen, idk what’s not registering to make it full screen. I really want to watch spider verse in imax 😔

  • Still not available in Africa. Seriously, how do Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV do it? Anyway, this is yet another reason not to re-subscribe to PSPlus premium.

  • Does this TV support USB. Because my Sony Bravia no longer plays them which I’m not happy about.

  • So this is absolutely RUBBISH. SONY RIPPING OFF PREMIUM PLAYSTATION PLUS ACCOUNT HOLDERS. SONY ARE PUTTING UP PRICES WITHOUT EVEN NOTIFICATION OF INCREASE TO ACCOUNT HOLDERS. 100 RUBBISH FILMS A MONTH. THERE ARE NO BENEFITS OF HAVING A PREMIUM PLAYSTATION PLUS ACCOUNT BECAUSE THE BENEFITS ARE RUBBISH. DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY PREMIUM PLAYSTATION PLUS ACCOUNT TO BE RIPPED OFF. THE BASIC PACKAGE IS CHEAPER AND YOU STILL GET ACCESS TO PRETTY MUCH THE SAME GAMES MINUS ALL THE EXTRA RUBBISH GAMES PREMIUM PLAYSTATION PLUS ACCOUNT GET ACCESS TO.

  • Will Sony Pictures Core include support for redeeming digital copies of movies purchased at my local retailer?

Will Sony Pictures Core connect with other apps like Movies Anywhere, Vudu, YouTube, etc.?

  • The Gran Turismo movie appears to become available in the UK today on the Sony Pictures Core app. I’ve purchased this, but it doesn’t look like we get the offer voucher that entitles us to get in-game credit for GT7. I’m guessing this should be in the form of a PS store redeem code? Anyway, not received anything (yet) so I guess the offer doesn’t apply in UK?

  • Is not working in my ps5

The massage is not available in your region
Are you joke Sony with me I pay for premium subscription and is not working

  • Unfortunately It doesn’t like my Sony/Playstation email. Tells me it’s invalid when trying to log into Core.

  • I just bought the grand turismo game and says I should get the 750k voucher, how do I find that and where

  • hello
    i am using vpn
but some how playstation core refuse to start …did playstation block vpn connection on play station core app ???and why ???

  • How come Gran Turismo movie on PS5 Sony Pictures Core does not show the Dolby Atmos icon? Does it support Atmos or not on PS5? It does for example on Apple TV 4K. Even on PS4 the Dolby Atmos icon is displayed. Pls fix this bug asap so that I can test Sony Pictures Core. Thank you!

  • I’m not bothered by the idea of an app where you can buy and rent films. I would like to see ads for users who want to watch these films but don’t have PS Plus. This way, you can reach out to a wider audience and still retain the ability to sell and rent films.
