God of War Ragnarök Collector’s Edition unboxing, pre-orders available today

The winds of Fimbulwinter have already begun the blow and Ragnarök is coming.

On November 9, 2022, to be exact!

Pre-orders for God of War Ragnarök are live starting today! We’ll walk you through every edition of the game, as well as the launch edition items.

God of War Ragnarök – Launch Edition Items

When you purchase God of War Ragnarök before launch, you will receive the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and the Atreus Risen Snow Tunic (cosmetic).*

God of War Ragnarök – Standard Edition

The God of War Ragnarök Standard Edition (digital and physical) comes with the full game for either PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.

God of War Ragnarök – Collector’s Edition

As you’ve seen in the above video, the God of War Ragnarök Collector’s Edition comes housed in a beautiful box representing the Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine. This shrine was of the triptychs that Kratos and Atreus came across in God of War (2018), depicting the tale of a powerful seer, the Giant Sorceress called Gróa, who was the first to have a vision of Ragnarök.

Opening the Shrine, you’ll find the following:

A Steelbook Display Case (no game disc included) – The God of War Ragnarök Steelbook Display Case depicts renditions of the Bear and the Wolf.

The fact that they added a Steelbook Game disk is an OBVIOUS pandering tactic. They are assuming that this will appease the hardcore collectors who want EVERY little thing to come with their order. And we SHOULD get EVERY LITTLE THING because I guarantee that when they reveal the price, people are going to blow their tops at not having the disc and it will be even MORE obvious that they are trying to justify that incredibly high price…which I WILL be paying.

Worse thing is AGAIN like they did with last game, they are making digital items exclusive to both digital and physical versions of the game, meaning you have to buy a code from third party sites if you want both.
They did this with GoW 2018 and it was so annoying.
Even more annoying is that they never even allowed us to buy the items on PSN, yet years later when they released the game on PC the game came with all digital items in the base game at no extra cost.
Way to go for screwing up the actual fans who buy the game day one or preorder!.

no sony you don’t realise collector’s edition of any game especially ragnarok & include a steel book with no disc how this make no sense when you sell lot more disc ps5 than digital so I only buying standard version

  Since the release of the PS4 Console ALL GAMES are region free and for Digital you most likely have to buy the item in that region… That is a good question and the codes might only work in your region. Call Sony for the best answer.
  
  I think the way it will work is whatever region you are in the code will unlock it to your PSN account… I would still call SONY if you are planning to import it from another region.

Why do you keep making collectors editions with no disc you’re already putting everything on PC basically saying you don’t give a dam about everybody who bought a PS5 for exclusives. And now you refuse to give discs for the additions that come with steel books for the disc… I will not be buying the collectors edition again just because you want me to buy the game twice. One of the best collector´s editions ever! great work, the only flaw is the obligatory digital game.

It shouldn’t include the game, so that everyone can buy it as they want: on PS4 or PS5, disc or digital.

Can companies please STOP selling PHYSICAL collectors editions with Steelbook & NO DISC!

A PHYSICAL COLLECTORS EDITION SHOULD HAVE THE PHYSICAL DISC with the STEELBOOK!

Total ANTI-CONSUMER tactics and you were horrible doing it with Horizon collectors as well! Please FIRE the minds behind thinking releasing a collectors edition with a paper code inside a DISCED STEELBOOK case is ok!

You are selling the DIGITAL DELUXE version and if some people want digital they will get that and companies can stop being Anti-Consumer because this is why people end up not supporting as well as STEALING when you ignore majority of fans buying collector editions… Most fans getting the physical collectors edition also want the physical disc!

Thats part of the collectible is the DISC AS WELL and now paying to access the digital copy.

WE WANT THE DISC included with collector editions and the pennies on the dollar to produce them is nothing for SONY as well as their should be sole Ps5 disc release for the Higer collector and then make the other onthe combo ps4/ps5 combo…

HOWEVER, it is figured out the Physical game should always get the physical disc and this has been the last straw.. SCALPERS can keep these because i will not support collectors with the digital game…..

SONY stop just caring about Anti-consumer money because you can still
make handsome profits including a disc as most collectors dont want the digital game solely with a collectors edition and if anything fans would want both versions included! (Physical/Digital)

An example, most Bluray/4k movies are released with physical disc and digital. That should be the norm for games as well!

Is that so hard to ask for when the price will be $200-$300 for these editions but, we cant get the physical…. You are punishing PS5 players because you want to sell a ps4/ps5 combo…

The ultimate collector should come with the disc as well as their should be separate ps4 and ps5 versions made so theres no excuse not to include the Disc!

  They might sell it on this site but retailers in your country will have it… Like in the US it will be Gamestop and Best Buy…. places like the UK have stores like GAME ETC. find what special game stores are in your area and that is most likely the place they will be to order.

It is an absolute shame that the Jötnar edition is unavailable over here in New Zealand.
Didn’t even get the chance to order it from overseas, feels like I got ripped off after seeing this awesome unboxing and not being given the chance to get the best version.

Jötnar Edition literally sold out on the PS store within 10 minutes so I don’t think Sony is too worried about all those who said they wouldn’t buy it because there was no physical disk.

The bigger problem is that they are already showing up on ebay for double the retail price. Scalpers are the worst.

  The point is even if it would sell out for SONY putting a turd on the box they know it will sell, but a great company STILL LISTENS to the Majority of fans to give them what they want especially a .13cent disc inside a physical collectors edition.
  
  Even though it will sell out from loyal fans and scalpers they should still listen…. When people get fed up with tactics like this they will just STEAL from SONY if they dont want to listen.
  
  SONY does many Anti-Consumer moves with much of their products. So, if they want to ignore fans in the end people will SPITE THEM BACK!
  
  PS: Microsoft Did the same thing with Halo 5 collectors edition giving a digital and when fans did the same complaints like we are on this blog; Microsoft made a public announcement that anyone unhappy with the included Digital copy could call them Tell them your digital code so they can “VOID” it.

  I even took advantage at the time, called them and they mailed me a physical…. Thats why i like MICROSOFT cos they actually listen to fans and guess what all the Digital Halo 5 collectors sold out fast as well.. Difference is Microsoft CARES for their fans more!
  
  I have all Consoles and can say Microsoft will do more for their fans and SONY will do the opposite of what the fans want.
  
  I called Sony and asked if I could forfeit my digital code to them and get a disc like Microsoft did with Halo 5 but the outscored call center had no clue.. lol
  
  SONY, Shame… Both franchise’s are huge for both companies but SONY will just give fans the middle finger. They should allpw us to trade in code for a disc….
  
  Did you know when you mass produce these discs it cost them PENNIES on the dollar to make a disc…. PENNIES. THEY WERE LAZY cos they wanted to keep doing COMBO ps4/5 when they should be separate due to these reasons
  
  The tranfer with xbox is much easier then PlayStation and I do love them both for different reasons.

They dont put the cd’s no more because now days you can sell anything to this kids they just pay, battlepasses, access, skins weapon colors and fairy dust plus NFT from blonde man youtubers. I’ve been in this gaming industry for 28 years ,i know anything this guys are doing. I can’t wait to watch my kids come home with a play station 6 box that costed them 1000$ of real money just to have pices of paper in it with a woaping 10$ manufacturing cost ,that tells you how to download play station console on your TV. But what will I know then I will be to old and don’t know anything about the new thing.

  I’m a HUGE advocate for physical gaming, but it’s not like the game won’t be physically available separately. You can just buy the physical game separately on top of the CE. As long as the price of the game isn’t included in the CE, I don’t see the problem? To me, this just feels like you have more options (particularly as a digital user, I don’t get why they should be forced to buy the disc to get the CE).
  I wish they gave me the option to buy online access without having to pay for PS+…

So I was in GAME at 10:00am as agreed added to basket checked out oh no it didn’t 10:02! Sold out turns out GAME started selling from 09:50ish. Not remotely fair why do they keep getting exclusivity rights yet they can’t even stick to basic rules.

You guys also have them available on the official PlayStation (direct) store yet they all just say coming soon. Will these actually be available for pre order. I only want one for my collection. Any (official confirmed)info greatly appreciated. GAME should be stripped of all exclusive rights

  The reason websites will start it 19 min early is to offset the websites traffic! If you know anything about an in-demand website item all customers are going to ONE link to order it making the sites at most times CRASH! Theres no way for GAME nor GAMESTOP to handle all the traffic at 10am sharp…. By releasing it close to then will free up traffic to the site of many users hitting refresh. (F5)
  
  Its always best to Pre order in person with high demand items due to the fact that their are many brick shops around the country but ONLY one site they have.
  
  When the stock is disbursed to many stores over one site this is the case always!
  Also, Not sure if this blog has DM but if u want i cam give u tips on how to order online but best bet is always going in person!
  
  This is where they messed up with Halo Infinite Xbxox Series X console and the Halo elite 2 controller they did only online and never even offered in store at all which was dumb… Anytime you have a chance to order these in store that is what I recommend cos you are not on one site with 100k people scalpers/customers mixed..
  
  When i went to My Gamestop They still had them available at 11:40am and only one other customer in the store. Why do you fans resort to websites when you should demand in store Pre orders!

Skipping. Went through this with horizon, let it go because hopefully sony would listen. Not even a year later nothing has changed. This time I can’t even just get the steel book like with horizon.

No Disc, no buy. Hope this is fixed by time sony does its next big release. I don’t like missing out on CE’s.

I understand why there is no disc since the Digital PS5 is a thing but an empty Steelbook does seem pointless. I think in the future Sony should not include the Steelbook itself in the CE versions since that seems to be a sticking point for many. In addition also put out a Steelbook version, which includes some digital trinkets, for $10 more or something.

  Isn’t that the whole reason they do this, to make it as appealing to digital users? Why would a digital user need a physical copy? I don’t really get the commotion around this, but I rarely get these more expensive editions. As a physical gamer it’s more of a hassle to get the game separately but other than that I don’t really see the issue. Maybe it’s simply not included to cut the costs of these already expensive editions.

Best Buy for pretty much every major tittle and even some non popular games will release a Bonus “Steelbook” with purchase. Even if it is a standard copy!

Now we look at God of War Ragnarok and Best Buy is not offering any Bonus Steelbook with the standard…

There are many times i collect the collector editions with steelbook but, also would like to buy the stand alone standard copy from Best Buy with the bonus steelbook.

SONY what are you thinking. Now, I will not buy an extra standard due to no bonus incentive from Best Buy!!

What are these companies doing for SONY’s most likely the highest popular game for them and no one thinks to have nice art work steelbook with Kratos and son in a dynamic scene! All the planning for this is horrible because they could offer so much more! FIRE THE MARKETING TEAM! They have no clue what the fans want.

Can you care about the collector fanbase when many of us support many versions and spend more then the average consumer. Why not listen what the MAJORITY Of fans want! Why go against the fans for us to hate on you. Makes no sense.

SONY always keeps quiet too as they could hire someone for this blog to interact with customers here. Thats what great companies on social media do is reply to the angry fans with an explanation about their concerns. Does SONY care???

Isn’t that the whole reason they do this, to make it as appealing to digital users? Why would a digital user need a physical copy? I don’t really get the commotion around this, but I rarely get these more expensive editions. As a physical gamer it’s more of a hassle to get the game separately but other than that I don’t really see the issue. Maybe it’s simply not included to cut the costs of these already expensive editions.

  You are completely Wrong! They do NOT make them appealing to digital users and the reason they put digital codes instead of physical is due to the PS4/PS5 cross Gen issue of not separating the versions.
  
  They were lazy and of course you dont see it because you are looking at it this the wrong way Collectors editions are meant for physical copies and since they want take the easy way out by having one code for the combo cross gen.
  
  If fans want digital they sell The Digital Deluxe….
  
  Collectors editions should never get a digital gam plain and simple! Their are digital versions to buy on the console itself.
  They should have the Jotnar Edition with physical Disc and the Collectors edition with Digital code..
  
  That would be a resolution and more fair to the fans to split it since theirs 2 collector editions.
  
  They can pull off discs and instead since they are not over PS4 era, Ps5 players and collectors have to be punished having items taken away.
  
  Collectors that buy these releases collect the physical Disc!
  
  SONY sold way more Disc Consoles as well and PS4 could have a digital but give PS 5. An actual Physical Collectors edition….
  
  The bug deal is many people that but this do not want the digital code more then the disc.

  That was my comment, don’t know what this Vodka guy is doing :) I figured the CE came with no game at all (so you can choose yourself what version you want and the price of the game isn’t included in the CE), didn’t realize it came with a code for a digital version. Now I understand the commotion :)

The reason websites will start it 19 min early is to offset the websites traffic! If you know anything about an in-demand website item all customers are going to ONE link to order it making the sites at most times CRASH! Theres no way for GAME nor GAMESTOP to handle all the traffic at 10am sharp…. By releasing it close to then will free up traffic to the site of many users hitting refresh. (F5)

Its always best to Pre order in person with high demand items due to the fact that their are many brick shops around the country but ONLY one site they have.

When the stock is disbursed to many stores over one site this is the case always!
Also, Not sure if this blog has DM but if u want i cam give u tips on how to order online but best bet is always going in person!

This is where they messed up with Halo Infinite Xbxox Series X console and the Halo elite 2 controller they did only online and never even offered in store at all which was dumb… Anytime you have a chance to order these in store that is what I recommend cos you are not on one site with 100k people scalpers/customers mixed..

When i went to My Gamestop They still had them available at 11:40am and only one other customer in the store. Why do you fans resort to websites when you should demand in store Pre orders!

All the Lazies in the world decide to always shop online and this is the results you will get when people do not support Brick stores for high demand items.
