PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now come together; players can choose from three flexible options.

Additionally, we’re also expanding our cloud streaming access to the following locations for a total of 30 markets with cloud streaming access**. The following markets will also offer the Premium tier from PlayStation Plus at launch: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

We’ve been working on this massive global effort to provide flexible options, quality games and greater value for our members for quite some time now – and we’re just a few weeks away from our first regional rollout. We want to thank our PlayStation community for the ongoing support, and we’ll have more to share as we get closer to launch. Since launching PlayStation Plus in 2010, SIE has been at the forefront of innovation with game subscription services. We were thrilled to be the first console membership service that included a refreshed library of games through PlayStation Plus, and also launched the first console game streaming service with PlayStation Now.

Today, we are pleased to share with you official news about changes coming to our subscription services. This June, we’re bringing together PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in an all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service that provides more choice to customers across three membership tiers globally.

Our focus is on providing high-quality, curated content with a diverse portfolio of games*. Below is an overview of the three membership tiers:

Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.

The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus. With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart. At launch, we plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal. We’re working closely with our imaginative developers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to include some of the best gaming experiences available with a library that will be regularly refreshed. More details to come on the games we’ll have on our new PlayStation Plus service.

When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch.

As this is a massive launch effort, we’re rolling out the new PlayStation Plus offering in a phased regional approach. In the June timeframe, we’ll begin with an initial launch in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered. We aim to have most PlayStation Network territories live with our new PlayStation Plus game subscription service by the end of the first half of 2022. We also plan to expand our cloud streaming benefit to additional markets, and will provide more details at a later date.

Building upon more than 25 years of expertise in gaming innovation, this change to our subscription services highlights our continued efforts to evolve our network services business to match our customer’s preferences. With the all-new PlayStation Plus, we’re focused on delivering a compelling game subscription service with curated content from our exclusive PlayStation Studios team and our third-party partners. The newly enhanced PlayStation Plus will enable our fans to discover and engage with more content than ever before, and deepen their connection with the PlayStation community through shared experiences.

We’re providing an early look at our new PlayStation Plus subscription service today, and we’ll plan to share more information with you as we get closer to launch. Stay tuned.

*Local pricing may vary by market. PlayStation Plus catalog titles may also vary by market and tier, and may change over time. PlayStation Plus is an ongoing subscription subject to a recurring subscription fee taken automatically until cancellation. Age restrictions apply.  Terms apply: play.st/psplus-usageterms

  • I feel this really henders the devoted members with another bigger bill with the cost of everything else going up now our membership is going up too kinda bogus I feel the long term members should get the best pack for what we always have payed since we’re automatically charged every year for our membership

  • Jim Ryan needs to be removed as Ceo everything hes done since becoming Ceo has been Anti Consumer dude is literally taking more money out of the paying customer with nothing to show for it. Every playstation user wants backwards compadibility so when you close down the PS3 store to save a nicklel we dont lose thousands of games that should be downloadble on the Ps4/PS5. Your most expensive tier is more expensive than game pass and doesnt offer your exclusives day 1 like game pass so clearly ya’ll dont have faith in your subscription services and i dont blame u PS Now was a failure and your charging former ps plus members who only had ps now more money so you can make a quick buck off those 3 million users

  • I paid for a year of both. Does that mean when it’s rolled over, I’m going to have a two year subscription?

  • I am glad to see legacy systems’ catalogs accessible on modern systems, but seeing as PS1, PS2, and PSP games are downloadable via this service, will Sony enable customers who bought such games digitally in the past (preferably not by scrolling my four-digit Download List) to download those without this subscription? Further, would we be able to import our PS1, PS2 Classics, PSP, and maybe PS minis local saves to PS4/PS5/PC to continue play there? Will the PS3 games finally be compatible with PS+ Cloud Backup saves, and will these streamed releases include all their add-ons?

I still have a PSP, two Vitas, and two PS3s, one with a 1TB SSD. I would love to see these games and their original systems’ features given their proper due, and to have your audience’s decades-long legacies carried into Sony’s modern ecosystem, rather than restarted from a blank slate.

    • Oh shoot, I even still have a PSTV! That half-baked set-box Vita! All good tech, but left to the wayside… I just want to see the company who holds the copyrights to make good on the potentials of their past.

  • How about a family plan, for those of us who have kids and multiple PlayStations?!?!

  • Ooo that extra tier is really enticing. $40 extra per year? As long as you play 1 of those 400 games each year, it basically pays for itself. That sounds worth it to me.

    • or you could get an xbox and pay less per month but get brand new indies and AAA $60 games the day they come out, for free.

sony thinks the brand itself ensures even when they offer you a demonstrably worse deal, if they word it deceptively their users will just blindly funnel more money.

    • @Alternian Microsoft doesn’t even want you to get an Xbox. Everything they’ve said and done for the last two console generations is obviously trying to get people to transition to computers. Game Pass isn’t a Sony competitor, it’s a Steam competitor.

PlayStation truly doesn’t have any competition. Nintendo is an isolated bubble, with everyone seeming to love the portability of Switch. The other people are Steam/Game Pass. Sony is the only one still focused on a traditional console for a house. I couldn’t care less if new games are free from the start. I play so few games that I don’t mind paying $60 or even $100 for a new one, because I expect to get at least that much out of it.

  • While I do appreciate these changes, especially as someone who probably should be doing more with Now than they currently are, I feel an opportunity was missed here to provide a “PS Plus Access” tier that allows for online play and the occasional deal, but *without* the two free games each month and without the constant heavy discounts. As it stands, there’s no natural way for online games to go through discount cycles because *all* online players are by definition part of the PS Plus program. The price gets priced into the price, as it were.

Providing a cheap “access-only” tier would provide an easy onramp for folks into online gaming and lets games where full PS Plus was previously a requirement decide to actually reward its players from time to time with specials. It also, obviously, would appeal to those who don’t find the free games each month to be a compelling value.

  • This looks good so far. We’ll see how it actually plays out soon though.

  • This is the worst possible deal for people that are game collectors as I am.
I have more then 600 PS titles and if I pay for the premium tier I get probably 70% of the games that I already have.
Price is too expensive and I am wondering why they wrote that there will be only 2 monthly games for free?!?

We had (couple of years back) six (yeah, SIX) of them, now we get 3 for the same price – will we see only 2 games in the future?!? Will those games be more quality or just the opposite of that?!?

  • Instead of having a free service PlayStation sticks the boot in again. Do you not think its expensive enough the price of games nowadays. Obviously just looking after your own pockets and not thinking about the fans that have been there from the start.

  • I think the packages are great options but I would like to see is some kind of Family option. Having to buy a package for both my husband and myself can really hit the wallet if they just came up with an option that allowed you to share with 1 other adult I would be okay with that, Stream, Nintendo, and others can why not Playstation?

  • I just want to be able to play the lord of the rings games 😢

  • Will you offer a PS Plus app so that gamers can stream games to their device of choice or allow game streaming via a browser? I know there is remote play but I’m looking for something where you can quickly jump into a game.

  • I am die hard PlayStation but Microsoft Gamepass is still better/cheaper and a BIG reason why I can’t get my son to jump the devilbox ship smh

    • Playstation has been losing this battle and still will as this is nothing but a rebranding of the same subs but just adding a middle tier and forcing everyone to have a ps plus membership on top of it all while giving old games still.

    • They seemingly lost all initiative and are just reacting to Microsoft again. Honestly the competition has never looked as appealing to me as now. Gamepass is obviously better with day one exclusives, they got backwards compatibility and smart delivery, more of a connection to PC than PS will ever have (despite taking their exclusives there -_-), and are only beginning to double down on their own exclusives and studio acquisitions. Playstation definitely feeling the heat, and rightly so.

  • You should make PS3 games available for download as well! Come on! I know that you guys can! All respect to the developers in charge of that. Cloud gaming isn’t the best at all.

  • Just want to play ESPN NFL 2K5 because Madden is Garbage and has been for YEARS many YEARS

  • I like it.

But what about PS1 / PS2 / PSP digital games I already own? I bought a bunch for PS3 / Vita – are there plans for these to be downloadable on PS5 regardless of whether they are part of the new Plus collections? And will titles from these systems be showing back up on the PS Store through the online and PS4 / PS5 storefronts?

  • This isn’t bad. The price for premium is cool if I get all the old games and cloud saves… no need for more console storage! Let’s see the games!

    • You know they aren’t going to share before we pay because then we wouldn’t pay

    • It’s the same services you already get just bundled. They still are not offering newer games. The article even states what they consider newer is PS4 titles that were out before PS5 even released. Playstation is still behind the times.

  • Why is there only 2 games per month in Essential tier PS+? Currently, we get 3 games per month and sometimes even 4.

  • Thanks Microsoft for bringing some competition

  • Are we ever going to be able to get a PS5 for less than an arm or leg

  • Seems to me like the forgot to plan PS Plus titles for April… 😅

  • So you changed nothing but how you purchase these two subs and added a middle tier for PS Now and still do not offer newer games. You also prevent people from just having PS Now and force them to buy into the crap PS Plus sub when they don’t want to.
Seems like a step backwards to me, nothing mew added and still no upgrade to the service. This is just a name change for the services that were already failing.

    • Yeah, I realized the exact same thing. There is no value here. In fact it is worse in many ways. Then add in that demos are now paywalled and Sony still has the worst refund policy in gaming and I’m not sure why Sony thought this announcement was a good idea.

  • All regions will be able to use this blockbuster feature? And streaming old games? Because right now, Brasil and I think other South America players don’t have access or can’t use PS Now streaming features or don’t have access at all.

  • Very interesting news, that also raises a lot of questions like what happens to those with both PS Plus and Now subs? And will the streaming service see any other upgrades? I can see that there’s no mention of PS5 games streamed, so I guess we’ll have to wait even further for that. But will their be a mobile client? A macOS client?

As for the offer, adding something like a permanent discount (even as small as 5-10%) to first party (or even all games) at top tier would have been a great way to add a little bit more value to it, and also drive more sales to digital (which we all know Sony would love).

    • You get upgraded to PS Plus and PS Now together… It’s the same thing the prices are just together later in June

  • Will I still be able to play the games I downloaded off of PS Now?

  • who made those yearly prices up, £99.99 what a joke these guys are

  • Wow so greedy… Couldn’t keep the highest price at 100 bucks? Geezus …. Should’ve been 60 80 and 100 and even then the 100 is too much… You could’ve been like we’re lowering the normal price back to 50 and make the highest price 90 maybe but yeah… Good luck with this… It’s just the same as it is now xD PS Plus and the PS Now instead of separate it’s together WOW GROUNDBREAKING…. Fail

  • I currently have both subcriptions active and I’d like to understand better how it will work in this case. Maybe I got it wrong but since Plus and Now have the same yearly cost, why Now members will get the Premium tier while Plus ones will stay in the Essential? Not very balanced imho. Moreover, talking about the Plus games leaked for April, Slay the Spire is already included in PS Now catalogue, so if the rumor is true this is not fair at all for people paying both subscriptions like me, we would get from PS Plus a game we already got from PS Now.

  • I like it but I’m not a big fan or supporter of PS Now because I believe in natural Hardware backward compatibility to play all my PSone games, PS2 games, and PS3 games on a newer console using the disc I have on them. I don’t plan on wasting more money to re-buy the same game I own already unless you offer a trade-in for my game disc for the download version I’m not sold. PC has the natural Hardware backward compatibility to play all my PSone games, PS2 games, and PS3 games because a strong team has worked on emulation since you neglect to offer it on consoles going forward and do it yourself. You should have had enlisted the help of the emulation community to bring it on PS4 and PS5 but sadly went on a different path I had hope in the PlayStation brand I love and support for these many years and still do because I am faithful and loyal to the best platform because It is my childhood as a gamer for these many years. Also Please sell more PS5 hardware and stop people from hoarding so many consoles and reselling them on ebay or amazon for crazy prices. I said my piece and hope to see more from PlayStation Brand I love.

  • Show us a list of ps1 and ps2 games then we’ll see.

  • I remember getting PS3 in 2007, playing with my dad’s online account, skip to 2014 switch to my own account after high school Graduation…
this was a dream playing old games. but sadly still steaming games.
    And another failure
PS hasn’t done one thing… making trophies more valuable like xbox points….

  • How is “Two monthly downloadable games” the same as what we get now with three?

  • For players that only want PS Now and not PS+ this is strictly worse. For current PS+ subscribers there is no added value. And for those that want some streaming games there is some value but compared to Game Pass Ultimate you are getting so much less for the same price.

Who at Sony thought that offering the same services at the same prices was going to compete with Game Pass? Worse yet, you locked demos behind a pay wall and still have the worst refund policy in gaming. Sorry Sony, I’d rather use Game Pass on my tablet instead of upgrading my PS+ subscription.

  • So essentially, you took the two tiers, PsPlus and PsNow and turned it into 3 tiers (and added PSP). All this really is, is a rebranding. PsNow was not doing well, as it holds nowhere near the value of GamePass. So instead of bolstering the value, you rebranded it and added PSP.. I am sorry, but Sony has made many terrible moves this generation (Bend Studios, Clap Handz, First Party game price increase) and this just seems like another one. I have been a long time PS gamer, but the way this ship is headed, pales in comparison to the direction Microsoft is heading.

  • hope you guys make it better because ps now is bad

  • I can see all my digital PS3 purchases on my PS5 but, to play them I need to pay 13.49 monthly?
    Cheers for that.

    • For real? I think I cannot see the PS3 titles I bought on PS4… 🤔 I mean… I can see them if I open the transaction history.

  • No day one first-party releases AND still more expensive than Game Pass?

No thanks. This is not a competitive offering and we should be pushing Sony for better.

    • Check your match. Game Pass Ultimate is $15 a month with NO option for an annual subscription. That $180 a year.

PS Plus Premium is $120 annually, which breaks down to $10 a month.

Tell me again which one is the better value?

  • Why is it so with us Russian-speaking SONY players? What have we violated? What kind of stigma have you attached to us, what have we done wrong? From your EULA policy – PSN is for all users over the age of 7, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, nationality, color, immigration status, social and economic class, education level, size, marital status, political preferences , religion, mental and physical development, or any other characteristics that are used to designate or divide the community …. What did the Russian-speaking players violate? …. You will keep silent?!

    • Russians are supporting a totalitarian regime that is starting wars, blocking free speech and mistreating minority groups.
Don’t expect companies to be a part of your economy until that changes.

    • They’d probably like to be more fair, but blocking the US players every month their country either invaded/bombed some random country, mistreated a minority group or violated free speech might cause US based SIE some issues. 😂

  • Will there be an option to purchase the PS3, PS2 and PSP games outright? I appreciate you guys curating an experience, but what if I want to make my own with individual purchases that I will own indefinitely.

    • I agree. I already own several PSOne and PS2 “Classics” that I purchased on the PS3. I hope I can play those on the PS5 and buy others individually.

  • Wondering how the pricing is going to look like if you have a couple years stacked up and wanted to upgrade to Extra/Premium. Hopefully it’ll be a “pay by difference” kind of like how the Switch upgrade was for the new NSO

  • Dear PlayStation,

What will happen if I have both subscriptions at the moment? Will I get Premium?

And what happens when my current subscriptions run out on different dates, oktober for PSNow and march next year for PS+. Will I get the highest tier until oktober or march? And if it’s till oktober, will I get Essential till march or pay again starting oktober?

    I’d like to know please!

  • Please add an option to get any language pack for games.
For example I’m from Israel so I get all games only with English sound, but my first language is Russian and I prefer to play with Russian sound

  • It’s like they don’t give a damn about thier history…Everyone and thier mother’s knows that if Sony actually put effort into a decent backwards compatibility system for thier old consoles it would be the best that none could match.

Streaming should be optional not required.

They should have Been got the PS3 bc issue figured out instead of telling us “That’s not what yall want!!”

PS2 fully scaled and 60fps alone would put em at the top of the industry as far as BC.

Stop telling us what we want and listen to your playerbase Jim!!

This isn’t enough to compete with Gamepass.

  • I feel that the premium and extra perks should be swapped you’d think 400 PS4 and 5 games would cost more

  • Wow that Really amazing ^-^

  • I’ll either be sticking with tier 1, or I’ll get tier 3 depending on the selection of PS1/PS2/PSP games and if they have trophy support.

  • Please please please please add Vita games tooooo!!!

  • What if you already have ps+ and psnow? Both different dates. I just recently subscribed to psnow and December 2021 to ps+. Also will I be able to combine them?

  • Prices are a little steep, but i love the 2 games per month for free.
