Welcome to the new and improved PlayStation.Blog

Get all the latest PlayStation announcements, game developer insights, previews on upcoming games and more

Depending on where in the world you’re joining us from, you may notice a few changes here at PS Blog. Readers of the US, Latin American, and Japanese PlayStation.Blog have probably noticed some long-overdue site upgrades over the past year or so, including a shiny new UX, improved page loads, and myriad other improvements.

But starting this week, those benefits will begin rolling out to our friends in France, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Spain. So here’s a quick (re)introduction!

If you’re a longtime Blog reader, you know it serves as a news platform for major gaming announcements and provides a direct gateway into the minds behind your favorite PlayStation titles. It’s a place to find out more about upcoming games via hands-on previews and developer interviews. Or catch up on what’s coming to PlayStation Store… or even be dazzled by the creativity of PlayStation fans in the ever-popular Share of the Week

Bilingual or multilingual? Get an extra dose of PS Blog goodness with our Latin American, Brazilian, Japanese, French, Russian, Italian, German and Spanish versions of the site. There’s no need to leave the site: simply click on the country drop-down menu at the top of the page to switch over to your language of choice. Of course, your old regional URLs will still work as well, if you prefer.

One other adjustment — we’ve officially merged with the PlayStation.Blog EU to form one globally integrated English PlayStation.Blog. It just makes sense for us, and probably for you. Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll work to reflect regional info for North America and the UK in one place whenever possible.

On that note, if you encounter any bugs or issues with the newly integrated PlayStation.Blog sites, please do leave them in the comments below. Regional representatives will be reviewing them and we’ll address where possible.

Whether you’ve been with us since the very beginning (almost 13 years now!), or you’re just joining us now… thanks!

And of course, you shouldn’t miss out on the wider conversation: follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok (sorry).

    Well this is trash.

  • Are you going to spell and date everything in the British format or will we be subjected to American spellings and dates?

Also, are you going to reinstate the react emojis?

  • Cool story Sony, but not be given any new PS5 reveal news is driving me nuts…

  • No more store update blogs? 🤔

    • -Time zones are in US (typical) at least provide a location based time zone
-We usually get a weekly store update blog
      -No flags beside our name

      Step backwards

    • Agreed add to that
      – inability to edit comments
      – can’t vote comments
      – can’t sort by best comments

    • And I really miss the FLAGS! Whodathunkit!

  • I like it, now I hope you can unify the PS Store as well.

  • Please add video links to what I’ll assume is a new and improved The Drop

  • eltiquillopilio9

Yeah that’s pretty cool, but I really like the part of “and tiktok (sorry)” it cracks me up

  • So when do we actually get a list of this weeks’ releases? It’s already Wednesday here in the UK, and still no sign. I have looked on the main Blog and in, ‘The Drop’, but to no avail…

  • I don’t mind the blogs being merged. If anything, it gives me hope that maybe now someone will listen to some requests. Like this one: give us a proper sale for older PlayStation platforms! For instance, the recent Big In Japan was a joke missing out on lots of PSP, PS Vita and PS3 gems.

  • There is no Brazilian language. There is Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese. But it’s still Portuguese

  • Just hope the content doesn’t suffer because of this blend.Been coming to the Blog for ma gaming news since 2011,used to look other places too over the years but the only one that stuck with me since I got ma PS3 and became devoted to gaming was the Blog.Cheers y’all hope this blend works.

  • thx for the new look but where is the Arabic language

  • Nice to see this

  • I don’t see an improvement tho. I see downgrades. EU blog had Like and Edit buttons. I don’t see it here. It also had the country flag on everyone’s comments to show where they’re coming from. Not important, but I thought it was cool. The main page looks like its not sorted by latest post on top, which I prefer. I come to the blog to see what’s new, but I’m seeing posts from last week at top. The eu blog did look much nicer.

  • Huh, that probably explains why the RSS feed for this stopped working the other day. I’ve re-subscribed again and it’s all good now.

  • Definitely liked the look of the EU blog better. Going to miss that place. No edit button is a major fail too.

  • Awesome to see the merge with the EU blog. They seemed to have different content from time to time, nice to see it all together now! :D

  • Chiming in with the other comments begging you to reconsider the wisdom of ‘merging’ (in reality, assuming the US = the world). Release dates, sales, pricing can differ wildly. The fact that you only seem to give US timezones for stuff – at least throw in a UTC or GMT or CET in there. If there’s going to be some sort of coordinated effort to streamline all this stuff & make things more unified going forward (eg. trying to keep sales consistent, mentioning prices in a few different currencies, mentioning approximate EU release dates, etc) then fair enough, but I’m not sure how well it would work. The timing of this makes me wonder if the plan for PS5 is going to involve more unification (at least as much as localisation will allow) & this is maybe the first step. If that’s the case then you’re stumbling right now.

There’s also the lack of features. Little things like the flags were a nice touch that gave a spot of context to a comment (if someone mentioned having issues getting their hands on a peripheral or game, for instance, being able to see they were in your country meant you could reply with a helpful tip about where to get it, or what local laws were preventing release). That’s even more important if you’re trying to squish everyone together. Being able to give a thumbs up to a comment meant you could support a well-made point (& it was reassuring to see a particularly toxic comment getting few likes).

Also this comment box is too wide for the screen – who designed this?!

  • “(sorry).”

    Just perfect.

  • don’t let them fool you. this is nothing more but a cost saving measure.

  • Can we get a Playstation Blog app please?

  • The only thing I come here for regularly is The Drop on Saturdays to see what’s coming out so I can write it down on my wishlist.

Eventually I’ll scratch 2/3 of them off after I check out gameplay videos and reviews, but I have only so much time for gaming.

  • Honestly I hate the „new“ design. I frequently checked eu and us blog and when I saw the introduction on the US Blog, I was so happy that we were spared from this. I don’t get why we need to see trending articles first and have to scroll further to get the newest articles. The overall layout is a mess and not logic at all.
And no I don’t get why you Have to merge 2 continents with a whole bunch of differences. In prices, release dates, ratings etc. it doesn’t make sense at all…

In my opinion Improvements look different…

  • If you’re going to merge blogs, at least use the far superior version as the basis of the platform….i.e the EU Blog. The US blog is antiquated by comparison and Sony have removed most forms of interaction between themselves and the end user here.

How are you supposed to guage at-a-glance feedback from the consumer without the upvotes or the emoji system employed in the EU blog? All you have here is a simple ‘did you like this’ heart at the top of the page which is relatively pointless as, comparitively, it serves no purpose.

If Sony wanted to further alienate a huge sector of their loyal fan-base then they’ve succeeded. What a shame. This isn’t progression….it’s deterioration.

    This isn’t progression, it’s regression.

  • Hopefully this merge will be successful considering so much news is localised. e.g. Will EU prices still appear? What about links to ps stores? Will dates for all territories be given equal weight? or will all news be US centric?… I sincerely hope not.

Lastly the EU blog had a couple of really useful comments features that this ‘upgrade’ has done away with.
    1) ability to like a post
    2) ability to sort posts by likes so we can see the most well though through comments without having to dig through all the dross!

Regardless of these concerns I hope it’s a success and there are some upsides – often I would check the US blog as news there appeared first.

  • Wow it’s strange this wasn’t done before makes sense, hopefully my comment appears straight away. Back on the eu blog I must of said something bad because sometimes it take a few days for my comment to appear.

  • New and improved lol. Its terrible but hey, at least us EU folks can maybe even get a reply once every 2 months now. We might even get the same discounts as the US now, if not, those comment sections are going to be entertaining.

  • I’m not a fan of this idea at all, but let’s see how it goes. I don’t want to hear about dollar prices, or games that are not going to be released in my region.
The comment system is bad, you can’t even edit a comment, and as you also can’t properly reply to a reply you can’t even correct mistakes well.
I see there is a podcast that has been running for years… As a long-time user of the EU blog, I have never even heard of this. Why? Get Playstation Access linked on here to, they’re supposed to be official, but you’d never guess. Is there something like that in the US too?

    • Don’t worry bro. Time stamps are now US PDT what ever the **** that means and games and Pegi was replaced with ‘Rated M for mature’ 🥴
Honestly EU blog was much better than this mess.

  • Thanks, I hate it. Can we go back to how things were before?

  • Where are the Flags, Up voting, Down voting and the report function? ;)

  • You all claim to be listening but still there games that I like to preordered yet you never updated the list. Also you advertised Grainda 3 on ps4 and put it on ps3 instead. You said you be adding games to the ps2 storewhich you all stopped almost 2 years ago. And how can you claim to be adding games on ps now when you removed them.

  • wow.. it is so bad I don’t want to know more about the PS5 anymore.

  • cutting down on costs again? How are regional sales and regional plus announcements going to work? If You thought comments sections weren’t flooded before… Personally I miss the original top down order.

  • This is the second week now with no “drop”. Where did it go?

  • Man we’ll see how it is once it comes out, either way I’m sold on it and we need to know the prices. Any guesses ppl, I’m going $599

  • well since its been said the comments are being read, like many request on sales pages to please include vita in sales. or have a major final one as soon as possible. or like when a ps4 version of a game like god wars future past, or the utawarerumono bundle is on sale, would you please consider putting the vita version on sale as well? thank you if you have read and if you would consider it.

  • I can’t find a link to an RSS feed. How am I supposed to keep up-to-date?

    • Ah, found it – it’s at /feed. Really need to have a LINK for it somewhere, though. You can’t expect users to try random URLs.

  • Dear All

Sony Have millions of fans in Egypt and until now they are struggling to get your products easily and safely for the below reasons:
    1. There’s no Egyptian store, hence they have to go for other stores which they can’t use their credit cards for purchases and they can’t get the top up cards either. So they have to get it through dealers who could be getting those products illegally and many of them got banned just because of those dealers.

    2. In such a huge and promising market like Egypt, we can’t find any certified stores were people can trust and many of them still being cheated by many dealers.

Our humble request is to make an Egyptian store that supports different types of payments including mobile phone payments (similar to the UK one). And to have enough certified stores in Egypt to cover all the land.

We hope this message gets to the decent makers as soon as possible.

    Warm regards,

    Sony fans in Egypt
