New Channels, Additional Lineup Change Coming to PlayStation Vue

We have some new updates about PlayStation Vue to share with you today. First, we’re happy to announce the addition of new channels to PlayStation Vue, including BBC America and NBA TV launching tomorrow, as well as VICE and more local broadcast stations from CBS and Fox coming soon.

Additionally, starting at 12:01am Eastern Time on November 11, all Viacom-owned networks will no longer be available on PlayStation Vue. This includes channels such as Comedy Central, Spike, and MTV. At PlayStation, we always strive to provide the best value and service for our fans. As part of our ongoing evaluation of the PlayStation Vue offering, we have determined that removing the bundle of channels from Viacom is the best way for us to continue to offer the most compelling value to our fans.

It’s been quite a busy year for us since launching ESPN, ABC and other Disney-owned networks; we have expanded the service nationwide, added highly requested channels such as NFL Network and HBO, and introduced new PS Vue enabled devices such as Roku, Android TV and web support for PC and Mac. As demonstrated by the new channels announced today, we will continue to expand the PlayStation Vue service by adding devices and networks that are highly requested by our fans.

PlayStation Vue subscribers will continue to enjoy the popular features that make the service unique, such as simultaneous streaming and cloud-based DVR. We are continuing to add value and flexibility with multiple plan options to choose from, as well as a la carte options such as recent additions of HBO and Cinemax.

Remember that there is no long-term commitment required for any PlayStation Vue plan. You can visit www.psvue.com for more information.

We want to thank all of you for your continued support, and we look forward to all that’s ahead.

  • So how much less do I have to pay a month now? Removing spike and Comedy central means removing a large part of the value of ps vue, I guess it’s time to cancel once football is over.

  • I can’t believe they are removing all these channels in the middle of the month without giving us any notice at all.I payed my monthly service fee under the assumption that these several channels would be included and as of now they are still advertising these channels as part of their lineup on the PS Vue homepage!

  • Sony just went full CABLE company on us to give you better value for you money you shall pay us the same amount but we’re gonna give you 20 channels less and screw your kids channels we only make gaming consoles and crap for kids gtfo sling tv it is till hulu releases there’s someone just gives us,what we want damnit to jerking us around.

  • Love the fact that I now get NBA and BBC America. The Viacom situation I hope get a fixed soon. Sticking with PSVue. Now bring in MLB amd MAVTV AND MAYBE YouToo.

  • THIS IS WHY ILLEGAL SUBS AND IPTV SERVICES ARE KILLING IT THEY GIVE YOU CHANNELS YOU ACTUALLY WATCH. AND CABLE SATELITTE AND PSVUE SERVICES JUST DON’T GET IT.

  • Legally Sony can be sued as they are still offering Viacom via there sign-up page misleading customers to channels at a certain price when 2 days out will not be there. It’s false advertising when they know for a fact in 2 days cganneks, are gone.

  • I guess I’ll have to cancel my ps vue soon then. I watch comedy central and my kids watch nick jr. I’m only in my first month and the main things that attracted me are already going.

  • This is the most BS i have seen .Loseing 22 channels and only putting 3 channels .How about lower the price now because i’m not paying for channels i dont have you bunch of idoits.

  • Terrible. I was loving Vue, but I’m cancelling now. Guess it’s back to Comcast for me :( Vue was nice while it lasted.

  • This a huge blow for me personally as nick, comedy central, and a couple others mentioned were the only ones i watch. Im definitely gonna miss the dvr but i cant justify soending the money anymore, so sling tv here i come i guess =T

  • This just ruined it for me, last month I renew subscription

  • Getting rid of the Viacom channels means you’re getting rid of me. Guess I will be 100% switching to DirecTV now when it launches this month.

  • I just started my psvue and now they are removing all these channels. This was the reason why I was looking forward to having ps vue. My kids were really enjoying watching nick channels. I will cancel my subscription. Sony needs to bring these channels back.

  • Can I expect a drop in price now or do you expect me to pay the same rates for a lessened service?

  • This sucks make a deal with Viacom Sony. Otherwise I’m going to DirecTV

    • So you pay at most the$60 dollar Vue fee. Looking at current DTV offers, the 175 channel $60 lineup is most comperable to vue., initially as a new customer, for 12 months. Sure you get all those religious and shopping channels too, such a bargain. Oh but wait, they include the HD $10 a month, $5.99 per device charge and $7.99 DVR charge too for the first 12 months. Ulp, but you have to sign a 24 month contract. So after 12 months it goes up to $111 a month AND they hit you with all the fees for the HD, DVR etc. So your $60 a month balloons to(if you only have one other receiver) about $135 a month. And you are locked in for another 12 months. This is how they get you. I had DTV for 15 years and I will never go back to them over a a measely 5 channels that I watch. But it’s your money, spend it how you want.

    • ACTUALLY Akiraclass, if you look at the CURRENT DEALS DTV is offering RIGHT NOW, the HD and RECEIVER fees for up to 4 TV’s are included in the price, NOT added on like it used to be.

  • Wow, thanks so much Sony. I just switched to PSVue and now your taking away channels that I love and what do I get in return the NBA. This is BS; I urge you to rethink your good news. I guess I may have to look somewhere else if this keeps up.

  • After loosing about twenty channels, I deserve a 10 dollar discount from my plan. Or I will be forced to cancel…..

  • Apparently, some people don’t know what a contract dispute is. Viacom is notorious for demanding more money, and currently Sony does not want to spend that much. These disputes happen all the time, like the News Corporation vs Cablevision dispute, the Disney Networks vs Cablevision dispute, and most famously, the AMC Networks vs Disk Network dispute.

Hell, back in April of 2016, Viacom and Dish entered into a dispute because Viacom wanted more money. Most of these disputes happen because of greedy companies asking for more money, and should Sony have accepted this deal, this would mean your Vue bill will go significantly up in price.

Currently, there should be contract negotiations between Sony and Viacom right now, for now it is recommended that you wait.

Lastly, please do not blame Sony for Viacom’s greedy actions. This is a lot better than having to spend a lot more money on your bill.

    • Don’t blame Sony for Viacom’s greedy actions? How do we know that’s what this is? I would agree that it seems that way, but Sony isn’t saying this is a contract issue, just that all Viacom channels are leaving. I was a Dish sub for many years, and was used to their disagreements with programmers. But, just yanking the channels with no real reason, no explanation, isn’t good customer service.

If we knew it was a contract dispute, many would probably stick it out and cheer for Sony to hammer Viacom into a more favorable deal. We don’t know. Since Sony provides the pipe into my home, as far as I’m concerned, this is a Sony issue. If they provide us more information, that may change.

    • the Viacom/Dish negotiations started back In AUGUST of last year, April was simply the deadline, they knew for 6 MONTHS that those channels might go away on Dish, not 3 freaking days.

  • We are loosing Comedy Central, Nickelodeon (and Nick Jr., NickMusic, NickToons, TeenNick), MTV (and MTV Classic, MTV Live, MTV2, mtvU), BET (and BET Gospel, BET Jams, BET Soul), CMT (and CMT Music), Spike, TV Land, VH1, Showtime, Centric, Logo and expect us to pay the same? GTFO!
Canceling before my billing cycle is up!
No Comedy central = No Tosh.0
No MTV = No catfish, wild n out, music videos
No Spike = No bar rescue, gangland, lip sync battle
    No showtime = no showtime!

    • You’re not losing showtime, that’s owned by CBS Networks. Lastly, would you rather have Sony accept Viacom’s deal and have to spend more money than you are already spending?

  • No biggie for me. TOO much other great content at an awesome price. NO box rental fees. I use kodi for the stuff I can’t watch on ps vue. LOVE the service, thank you for keeping the price down

  • I’ve been loving Playstation Vue since it was available in my area but this is a deal breaker. Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. are two of our most watched channels. It’s an amazing service but, regretfully, you’ve lost a customer because of this change.

  • The only way you are going to stay relevant as an “Entertainment” supplier is to match what cable has which is…

    – Live versions of the Broadcast Channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and yes, even the CW) and not the same content people can get by going to their site the next day. Otherwise, there’s no value.

    – BBC America is a step in the right direction considering you already have their other “family” of channels available like AMC.

    – You need the Viacom networks, sorry.

Otherwise, there’s no real benefit of PS Vue over standard cable other than the DVR feature. But, who needs the DVR feature if there’s no content to actually record?

    • Sooo, you would rather that Sony bow to Viacom? They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If Sony would bow to Viacom, you’d whine that you bill went up because of it. 2 shows on Spike were all I watched and I can get them on KODi, adding BBC makes up for the channels loss because when I had DircTV I watched this all the time. So this is net gain in entertainment. And since they are adding AE, History probably isn’t to far behind. With the NFL package I was paying DTV $200 a month. Now with Vue and Netflix I pay less than $50, and even if I moved to the Elite package it would only be $60 a month. But as I told another person. It’s your dime.

  • This is a blow, sort of. Per previous comments, this is Viacom’s doing, not Sony’s. The whole idea of Vue and streaming TV services is to keep the prices affordable for us the consumers. I like Comedy Central, and I also understand that this removes a lot of programming for the folks with kids out there. But I also like saving money. I was paying $208 a month for internet and nearly 300 channels. My wife and I watched maybe 30 of those channels regularly. Now, between Vue and internet service I pay $105. That’s a little over $1200 a year in savings. $1200. What would you do with your $1200?

I’m not going back to cable just to have Viacom networks. I’ll find another way to watch their programming or…live without it.

  • Hold firm Sony- I’ve seen viacon pull this ransom nonsense with directv twice, dish and cox. It’s just not worth it to get caught up in their extortion game. Keep bringing good value, more platforms and additional channels and I’ll be happy. Good work guys!

  • Please don’t do this Sony! We need Nick and MTV! You are going to make your customers want to leave because of this. I for one would like a better explanation for why this is happening. And if you guys are negotiating to make a deal to bring these channels back? Please add channels like Nick, MTV, Lifetime, A&E, CBS, ABC live nation wide, and FOX live nation wide! I love Vue, but I’m considering this an outrage! Thank you.

  • DirecTV Now, here I come.

  • replacing 15 channels with 3 is hardly EXPANDING, in fact by definition it;s the TOTAL OPPOSITE.

  • Bad move. Comedy Central is one of the main channels we watch. Better work this out before you lose half of your viewers.

  • Cancel the service if you feel like its not the best option for you. Have fun going to DirectTV and their insane prices and additional costs for extra boxes, dvr service and sports packages. I was paying $150 a month for DirectTV and with nfl season $200 then add in nba i was at $245 so between Vue($35) nba league pass($44) Hulu, Netflix and Amazon im still saving $50 a month for a TON more content. Dont blame PS for not wanting to increase prices just to keep some channels most adults could care less about(including me) and now they are going to add Fox and CBS live which will spur ABC and NBC to get on board. Be patient and quit crying like toddlers having a temper tantrum

  • Three days notice! Seriously, I would much rather pay the price increase to keep those channels! They don’t even give us a choice? How about make it a package you can add on for extra rather than just cut it out completely! I hope play station is reading these comments and realizes how many angry customers there are!!! Well looks like I’m not renewing!

  • This is really disappointing. I just switched to Vue and one of the big factors was the channel line up. I watch a lot on CMT and my son watches Nick Jr everday. I’m very disappointed that there was no way to come to an agreement to keep these channels. Is there any chance of them returning? If not, I will most likely just go right back to Directv.

  • So are we going to get a small refund or give us a free upgrade for 30 days something that’s a lot of channels to lose when I have paid for a full months 4 days ago

  • I’m not happy at all about this at and will bail out if this is final. However, be patient for a couple of weeks afterwards. I went through this on both Dish Network and Directv in the past. Once with Viacom and with AMC. I’m sure Sony isn’t dumping Viacom because they feel it’s actually better, they are letting Viacom know that if they want to jack prices, we’ll bail on you. It’s part of negotiating process. I’m not saying that it will come back, I’m just saying give it a few weeks and see if there is more to the story. In both of the other cases I was referring to, they negotiated and it came back. Our monthly went up a dollar or so, but it came back.

  • At first when I read this I was mad. I watch one show on MTV sometimes. Then I remembered that summer three years ago when Viacom tried putting the screws to DIRECTV by pulling the channels at the end of their contract. I worked tech support for DTV at the time. I got to listen to parents scream at me over Nickelodeon for two weeks, 8-12 hours a day due to mandatory overtime. After all what are kids going to do on summer break? Viacom backed down and came to an agreement. Screw Viacom and these BS tactics. DIRECTV had the subscriber base to fight back. PS Vue doesn’t. I’m staying with it. I like it and it’s saving me money. I know this may not work for everyone. To each his own.

    • DirecTV did say that Viacom is going off the air, and it did for a week or two. But they negotiated and it came back. Sony may be playing the same game. I hope so because my wife watches a few shows on MTV and of course my kids watch Nick all the time.

  • All I watch is comedy central :( was great while it lasted leave it to play station to have something good and screw it all up

  • Yeah, I will be dropping PSVue next month. cutting the Viacom channels is a big problem. Directv’s streaming package starts in a month so I will likely move there for my streaming.

  • Just canceled cable this weekend and switched to Vue. Now I am gonna have the whole family mad if we lose Nickelodeon. This feels like a bait and switch. I feel like an idiot for recommending it to people all week.

    • Same here man I recently raved about this to co-workers about what a great line-up for the price and now they cut 10 or more channels… thanks Sony.

  • Bring back Viacom. That’s half the shows we watch. This is bull

  • NBA TV!! This is better than Christmas! Thank You Playstation Vue! That was the one lone channel is missed the most.

  • This is rediculous just charge five bucks more a month like sling tv does. Well good thing there are no contracts and direct tv now comes out next month….

  • NBA TV!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!! <3 you.

  • I will keep Vue but drop my plan to the lowest. I’m pissed that we are losing all those channels especially Nick jr which my kids watch all the time. There is no point of paying a higher plan if we are losing those great channels and replaced with bs channels.Vue is great and yes better than sling which I had. I won’t go back to sling because the service sucks. What a shame, PS Vue does not look as appealing anymore.might have to jump to direct TVs streaming service when it comes out. One again the consumer loses while the big guys argue over bs.

  • My wife and both of my kids primarly used most of the Viacom channels that are being removed. This is horrible for us and now we are forced to go to our standard cable company and pay higher fees. Looks like we will no longer be subscribing to Vue until this is fixed.

  • Well I’ll be unsubscribing. Comedy Central was one of the channels that I watched the most. Losing it is a deal deal breaker. If you had to, you should have made another tier that cost $5 more per month so that people who wanted Viacom channels could keep them. I knew this service was too good to be true.

  • Are you kidding me I just dumped my cable and signed up for ps vue not only are you taking away the channels my kid watches oh and paid for nfl red zone I’m quite certain I’m going to here all kinds of crap from my wife thanks for nothing

  • Well I’ve not had the Vue that long, but I am likely going to cancel as well. 22 channels and we get 3. The same crap happened on Suddenlink awhile back. I get it that Viacom want to charge more and maybe their channels to the provider isn’t worth paying more. Nonetheless, if we keep allowing this crap to happen and just continue to deal with it, this is going to continue to happen. I blame both companies because you should be able to sit down and hammer out a deal that is good for both sides.

I am looking forward to seeing what the DirecTV Now service is going to offer. I’ve read it’s a 100 channels for $35. I think there will be a lot of folks switching before it’s over. By the way for those of you that don’t have a clue. This isn’t Satellite DirecTV, this is DirecTV Now streaming services like the Vue and Sling. So there is no equipment or contracts of ETF. I’ve seen several folks say this now when folks are clearly saying DirecTV Now.

My sub renewed on Nov 1. So, I’ll give them the next 3 weeks if they haven’t reversed course, hopefully DirecTV now will launch before my sub is up and I can just switch. That the game plan anyway…

  • I just signed up for psvue now this is happening!!!! Can’t watch COPS now that SPIKE is being taken away. BRING IN A&E AND HISTORY CHANNEL OR AT LEAST MAKE THE LOCAL CHANNELS LIVE.
SO WHATS GONNA HAPPEN WHEN ALL THESE NETWORKS WANT MORE $ YOUR GONNA DROP THEM TOO OR RAISE THE PRICE AND BE AS MUCH AS REGULAR CABLE ?

  • i currently have the elite package and I shouldn’t be charged full price if your taking away allot of good networks

  • This is some stupid as* **** I’m cancelling my subscription ASAP!!!!! Why in the hell would you do this your going to lose so many customers this service was only missing 2 channels from being perfect A&E , CW50… now you take these channels out I’m DONE…… CANCELLATION PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish it said they were working on an agreement. However, VIACOM has played tough with DirectTV, and I think they even lost channels for a while (or some big satellite company did)
