PlayStation Plus: Free Games for June 2016

Another clown who feels entitled to have *at least* the majority of all free PS+ releases tailored specifically to his/her tastes. When people complain about getting free stuff, they *embarrass* themselves by exposing their entitlement. Congrats, I guess.

P.S. NBA 2K16 and Gone Home are both masterpieces within their respective genres. If you weren’t this entitled, you’d be thanking them for the generous offering. On its face, this is the first truly compelling PS+ free game drop from Sony since Rocket League in my opinion, but other months that didn’t bring titles which excited me? I downloaded them anyway and am now a fan of a few genres I never thought I’d enjoy. Glean the free advice I’m offering out of that. You’re welcome.

Sure you can complain, and you could even if there weren’t money involved. Regardless, when you complain about the FREE offerings that are supplementary to PS+ (which, btw, Sony is under NO OBLIGATION to offer), your complaints are still going to be laughable. Your $49 a month PS+ subscription (which gives you the ability to game online) comes with just under $2,000/yr worth of free titles as a supplement to that privilege. Comparing digital entertainment to a meal plan (food is needed to live. video games ≠ food) is laughable.

Either way, whether we’re talking about a meal plan or PS+, nobody made you sign up for anything. You knew when you signed up for PS+ specifically so you could game online, Sony would be curating the list of *supplementary, FREE* offerings you would receive as a bonus. If you genuinely believe you’re entitled to have Sony cater their $2,000 list of free titles to your tastes when you’re paying $49? I don’t know what to tell you, man. Nobody owes you anything. Get over yourself.

…yep, because your $50 a year isn’t worth the two free games every single month (24 games in total), plus the discounts it offers, plus the multiplayer connectivity it offers. The total retail value of the last year of free releases on PS+ for PS4 alone is just under $1,000. Totally not worth it…

Please, cancel your subscription if you’re truly that entitled. It’ll be one less killjoy to contend with.

Tropico has more mass appeal than NBA2K16? Source?

Tropico ($59.99 at release) has sold 270,000 copies since its release in April ’15
NBA 2K16 (also $59.99 at release) has sold 3.6 MILLION copies since its release in September ’15.

NBA 2K16 has sold roughly 14 times as many copies as Tropico at the same price point. Meanwhile, Tropico was released 5 months prior to 2K16.

Yeah, Tropico 5 has greater mass appeal than this sports game. (No, it doesn’t.)

No matter how many times you *say* that game ‘x’ has more mass appeal than game ‘y’, if the *FACTS* dictate otherwise, all your talk means *nothing.* I just provided you with a fact-based example of how you’re flat-out *wrong* about the mass appeal of NBA 2K16 vs. Tropico 5. NBA 2K16 has sold FOURTEEN TIMES the copies of Tropico 5 at the *same price-point* despite being on the market for five less months.

Just because you don’t enjoy something doesn’t mean you should say patently false things in an effort to sway future offerings. Nobody is going to take you seriously if you try to present your opinion as fact, especially when (ya know) ACTUAL FACTS discredit the things you’re saying.

You say things like “we pay for this service and expect quality.” If you pay for something, of course you should expect quality, but you’re paying $50, and getting $2,000 worth of FREE SOFTWARE (which Sony is under no obligation to offer you in the first place) as a supplement to your PS+ subscription. Sony needs to cater to millions of users who have widely varying tastes. You’re not expecting “quality,” you’re expecting Sony to cater the list of FREE offerings (which again, Sony doesn’t HAVE to give you with your PS+ subscription AT ALL) specifically to your tastes, which is foolish. You knew when you paid your $49 that you weren’t going to be the one curating the list of PS+ FREE offerings. You still bought in. Either you’re so entitled that you don’t even realize that you don’t *deserve* $2,000 worth of stuff for $50, and can’t feel grateful for the extra value you’re getting out of your membership, or you’re *foolish* enough to believe that every offering would (or SHOULD) appeal to you.

Here’s some FREE advice (which I’m sure you’ll complain about later): Try some of the games. Even the ones you don’t think you’ll like. You might be pleasantly surprised.
