Since the launch of PS4, we have been thrilled with the amount of gamers jumping into the world of PlayStation for the first time. If you haven’t made the jump yet, and you’re starting early on your holiday wish list, I have good news – we’re dropping the price of the PlayStation 4 system in the U.S. and Canada. Starting tomorrow, October 9, you’ll be able to pick up PS4 starting at the new price of $349.99 USD / $429.99 CAD (MSRP). Our goal at PlayStation has always been to provide the best gameplay experiences at the best value, and we feel this new compelling price will open the doors to even more gamers that have yet to purchase a system.

Over the past few months, we’ve introduced a number of bundles that feature some of the biggest games coming to PS4 this holiday season. Here’s a snapshot of the new prices for the current PS4 hardware lineup:

    This is a great $50 dollar drop in price, but for how long this price will be before it jumps back to $399.99 or will it remain $50 dollars cheaper. Oh wait the PSVR will be expensive so making sure we all get an PS4 for cheaper cause when PSVR releases it will cost as much as an new next gen console. Would like to see the PS4 bundle with PSVR now that would be intresting in retail price and price drops. It’s going to happen.It’s just going to get more expensive so save your money cause a big price jump will be here soon..:( But I love my PS4

      It’s a permanent price drop. Sony doesn’t lower prices then jack them up like microsoft did for a month when they found out how big the sales drop off was after the announcement.

      Over the decades sony does 50-100 dollar reductions on their console consecutively. 349.99 will be the new price and come next year the 500gb will be 299.99, and 1 tb 349.99. Or they may faze the 500gb out all together.

      The longest we will have to wait to see 299.99 PS4 will be 2017. But I think because of how short they want the cycle to be I for see them dropping it again next year, if they have too that it.

      No, but they launched the PS4 at $400, then raised it to $450, then “lowered” it to $430. So it’s still more than it was when it released. Xbox is still $80 cheaper, this tiny price drop isn’t going to move units.

    Hello everyone!

    I want to pick up a PS4 bundle. However, I have a few requirements:

    At least 1TB HDD (or good deal on a 500GB and upgrade)
    Must come with a physical copy of a game
    Must be the new console model (I believe CUH-1200 is the newer model, but if I am wrong, please correct me)

    Will the 1TB Black Ops bundle be the new hardware model CUH-1200 for North America regions? I have not been able to find that information anywhere else. Or do any of the bundles currently released in NA include the CUH-1200 model?

      Basically every company on earth has a pre-order guarantee for prices. If you pre-ordered from Amazon, EB Games/Gamestop or any of those places, you’re safe.

    Cool. That is some weird Canada prices. $20 CAD on some model where others are $80 CAD off.

    I don’t need a PS4, but if I did, not a terrible deal. 1 GB for the price of the old 500gb model.

      Agree with darkside there. GameStop indeed abuses, realized it when tried to sell them my used game and seeing how much that used game actually is in GameStop shelf. Then I found other ways to sell my used games to not use GameStop.

    Why is the Black Ops bundle only dropping $20 instead of $50? It’s the only reasonably good looking custom console that’s being released for the holiday. I was planning on maybe getting one, but not for a $30 premium over the other “limited” edition consoles.

      That’s life, but it does suck. Maybe you should start buying consoles AFTER they announce price drops, instead of before? The prices will only ever keep going down, not up. Everyone who buys one of these cheaper consoles is going to pay more than the next wave of price drops, probably next year’s holiday season.
      Did you at least get a limited edition console that’s no longer available?

    @EthanBenard. I would think so. From where did you preorder it? If it is a site like Amazon I would check your order or contact them after tomorrow (Oct 9th) when the price drop goes live. The price will still be listed at $499.99 through today I think.

      I think you should look at the chart a little closer! The price drop for the Black Ops bundle doesn’t drop till November 6th. If you look at the chart properly the date at the end of the bundle name is when that particular one will have a price drop. They are not all dropping at the same time.

    Due to our lower currency, a $50 discount in Canada still would’ve been a smaller discount than $50 US. But they couldn’t even do that. $20?? (which is $15USD??) WOW.

    In the US that $50 can go to a new $50 game. $20 CAN doesn’t go very far towards a new game here which is $80.

    Just Googled it and $50 USD = $65 CDN, why isn’t the drop proportional? Where does the $20 figure come from? I feel so bad for Canada, first the price is raised and the argument is that the price must reflect the US value, but now the US price drop gets the opposite treatment in Canada and is valued at about $15 USD. The whole proportional thing only applies when it’s convenient for Sony’s wallets I guess?

      Overall $430 CAD = $330 USD because the CAD is very weak at the moment, thats why the reduction is so little for Canada.

      @girflet – Currency is all relative – whether you like it or not, $430 Canadian IS THE SAME PRICE AS 330 US. You think everything should be priced according to what people earn? By your logic they should sell it for $50 in Greece, now the economy there has sunk. I suggest you read some material on Economics…

    Will there be a cheaper non-bundle version?

    Say maybe $20 cheaper instead of outright $50 cheaper for the “value” of the bundled game. That way from a marketing standpoint people looking to buy their first one can justify spending the extra money on the bundle, but people who already have one (and it breaks) can just go the slightly cheaper route. Or people who just plain don’t want whatever games are currently bundled can save a little money and go buy the game they really want.

      Why shoyld you expect compensation ?. You should have waited, everyone knows a price would come. You didn’t want to wait so live with your purchase. I brought mines last year because I wanted to but I’m not looking to get over. It’s nothing like the Kinect fiasco, Microsoft lied about the Kinect. Being apart of the system tnat wasn’t an accessory and couldn’t be unbundled. Now thoes consumers that only wanted the XBox One and not the kinect, should be compensated.

    Do you really have to take shots at the competition to prove a point? Touchscreens aren’t weird at all; DS has one, 3DS has one, Vita has one, phones and tablets use them. The Wii U controller is certainly more normal than the Wii Remote. It has all the same buttons as every other controller, with the only addition being a touchscreen. The PS4 controller has a touchpad but no one complains about that.

    I guess the DS and 3DS alienated developers also because they were too different from normal handhelds. Oh wait they didn’t.

    Thank you, Sony. I have been with you since the beginning and the “You are not red-E” commercial days. I’ve owned every system and am buying the Uncharted bundle tomorrow. I was at GameStop to buy the Last of Us bundle today and the lady told me about the sale. Well, now I can get Uncharted 1-3, Mast of Us, and Tomb Raider. That will keep me busy for weeks to come.     I’m seriously disgusted with Sony and how it’s rolled out the Canadian releases. We’ve been over a 100 dollars more since the launch and that was when our dollar was at or just below par the US.They gave some stupid excuse back then as well and have never really had a good sale.
