Vote to Play Begins Thursday, Help Decide Next PS Plus Lineup

Today, we’re pleased to announce the games that will be part of Vote to Play — our special promotion that enables PlayStation Plus members to vote on one of three PlayStation 4 games for next month’s PS Plus game lineup. All three of these games would be a great addition to our lineup, and we want to put the choice in your hands when voting begins on Thursday, August 13th.

Without further ado, here are the games on the ballot.

Armello

A grim fairy-tale board game come to life, combining deep, tactical card play, rich tabletop strategy, and RPG elements. Set in a vibrant magical world with a tinge of darkness, Armello thrusts players into an epic struggle for power as they quest, scheme, explore, vanquish monsters, perform the mad king’s royal edicts, and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello.

Grow Home

You play BUD (Botanical. Utility. Droid), a robot on a mission to find the Star Plant and save his planet. Discover a strange open-world: a planet of floating islands, with precipitous drops, caves and waterfalls to navigate, all rendered in a minimalist but beautiful art style. Grow the giant Star Plant and use your unique climbing abilities to reach ever higher ground, but be careful as you ascend because one wrong move and it’s a long way down!

Zombie Vikings

From the creators of last year’s indie hit Stick It to The Man! comes a new co-op, four-player stab-you-in-the-gut-a-thon with a dead-funny adventure. Hack through the boiling gingerbread swamps of Molgaga, take a cruise through the intestines of the Midgaard Serpent, fight giant troll poultry, and find out how Söccer was really invented.

Voting starts Thursday, August 13th at 8:30 AM Pacific (update: we are currently tracking for 10am Pacific Time) and ends Monday, August 24th, at 8:30 AM Pacific. The final result will be revealed after voting closes. If you’re a PS Plus member and you want to cast your vote, simply log on to PS4 with your PSN account, and access Vote to Play under “What’s New,” “Notifications,” or visit the PS Plus section of the PlayStation Store, where you’ll find details for Vote to Play.

The game with the most votes will automatically be included in our September free game lineup, and PlayStation Plus members can get the two runners-up at a discount. We can’t wait to see what PlayStation Plus members decide for September in our first Vote to Play event. We’ll have more events in the future, so stay tuned.

    Tough choice for me. I need my strategy Rpg/board fix on the PS4 and i enjoyed Zoink’s stick it to the man! Humor and art style and Zombie vikings 4 player hackn slash couch mp should be cool coming from them.

    Decisions, decisions… I’ll vote for Armello and hope Zombie Vikings second place and buy it at discount ps+ price.

    Win win either way.

      Not knocking the other games, I just wish for more solid strategy/tactic games for the PS4. The replay and art are just a nice bonus. Help spread the word to as many PS Plus subscribers. Hoping to see you online :)

    I’m voting for Zombie Vikings because I was a huge fan of Stick it to the Man. But honestly, all three of these choices look great, and I’m glad the other two games will be discounted, as well!

    I’m Voting for Zombie Vikings.

    Zombie Vikings is actually a new game with hack n slash combat, boss fights, loot ect.

    A full 10hr singleplayer campaign where u can play alone or up to 4 player co op, online or local.

    The other 2 are a table top card game and a game w/no combat. Zombie Vikings is the only game w/real time combat.

    Honestly I don’t comment on here much but this seemed like a “big announcement” that many were waiting for and the deciding factor for me if I was going to finally renew my PS+ Subscription since I don’t play COD anymore and MLB The Show’s Online in horrible. I literally have no intention to do so based on the choices. Not even one. I really hope this isn’t the usual trend. You guys are killing me with the Indy games. I understand that many do like them and there is nothing wrong with that. I also understand that PS4 has only been out for a certain amount of time but come on now. You mean to tell us that there are no other choices (AAA titles) to provide us with? Evan Knack I’d take a stab at since I never had the intention to buy it. Killzone? Ugh…

    I really was under the impression that something was going to make me want to jump at it again but no thanks. I admit I’m a huge Sony fanboy but it’s been about 3 months now that my subscription ran out and looks like it’ll remain this way unfortunately.

    Have fun this month peeps. I’ll just lay low and continue to play the GTAV and Batman campaign for now.

      The winner will be 1 of 6 games we get, we are getting 5 other games. Zombie Vikings is a legit game.

      We just got God of War Ascension, Lara Croft Temple of Osiris, Rocket League ect. Pretty good games u missed out on, Rocket League is phenomenal.

      U don’t even have plus. U think gtaV and batman are the only good games out now? U may not know but Galak-Z released last week & it’s awesome. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture released today & it’s a beautiful game. Volume is next week & then AAA exclusive Until Dawn August 25th.

      Surely there will be 1-2 AAA games on plus next month, of course they would have us vote on smaller games, they have to work out deals for these games & AAA are not easy to get. We will get big games but likely we will not be voting on the big AAA games. Vote Zombie Vikings

      And a “None of the above” for some people, just to get a more accurate feel of the player base.

      I personally voted for Armello and the other two look decent, but I do understand how some players might not like the choice. If they offered tree sport games (Football, hockey…etc) I would have not interest in these and would like my vote to be counted as well for none of the above. Make sense?

    Just for clarify, We will able to choose one game by voting the other two that lost the vote contest will have discont for plus members. And sony will choose another game or in september Plus members will only have one game ?

    No AAA titles, PS Plus keeps failing. Until they only do good titles that have any value (AAA titles) ps+ is worthless.

      Sucks to be you, all these games have value, and I can pesonally speak for Armello being an amazing game as I have been alpha and beta testing it since early this year on PC.

    I thought Grow Home would be my obvious choice, but when I read ‘from the team behind Stick It to the Man,’ well, Zombie Vikings is the only choice. SIttM was a thoroughly enjoyable funny and quirky little game.

    I’m getting all 3, but i guess my vote is going for grow home…seems very captivating! armello and zombie vikings look great, too…omg, tough choice. How can anyone dislike this new wave of indies? It reminds me of the PS1 era, when i could find any sort of games to play, not only AAA shooters! :)

    Not that I dislike shooters, but it’s so awesome to have some other choices once again!

      it might remind you of the ps1 era, but it reminds me of the web based flash game era and the touch screen based cellphone game era (and i don’t mean that as a compliment).

      if sony put ps1 classics on ps4 and made those igc games, it would be a lot better received. i’d take breath of fire 3, suikoden, megaman x4, vandal hearts, mortal kombat mythologies:sub zero, gex, blast chamber, crash bandicoot, bloody roar, parapa the rapper, spyro, or many other ps1 titles over these any day of the week.

    Huge fan of Armello on PC already. I have a question about these games. If Armello, for instance, is voted in will LoG get money for everyone who downloads it, or any compensation at all? I am asking because I love LoG and want them to have all the money!!! haha… I plan to buy several copies of Armello on PS4 for my friends as I already have done on PC.

      The only answer to that will be look what it did for Rocket League. I am sure there is a set amount agreed upon by both parties but allowing people to sample your game for free and liking it enough to purchase future updates and DLCs.

    The only and I say ONLY indie game I want and will fully support is No Mans Sky but even if its a small i die type studio that game is more than a triple A title. Its beyond that in what they made. So I can’t really consider it a samll indie title. Its more than triple A and will be huge in support when its ready. It has next gen graphics so its not no little atari 2 but ugly looking nintendo game. Other than that I hate indies. Games are short, small, terrible graphics and just flat out s u c k! Being honest and my opinion. If you don’t like it bite me. Go cry to ya fan boy butt buddies!

    I really liked watching all the videos. It’s fun to see, even in just a short clip, how much each of these developers care about their games. I thank all of them for participating in this. I really wish all 3 could win the vote based on how much I liked each teams different approach to presenting their game. I want to play them all but unfortunately I will be able to only vote for one. So I just want them to know that I did like all 3 presentations. Too bad Plus members couldn’t just get all 3 but it’s neat that we do get a voice in helping decide which one we do receive.

    I also like that this is free publicity for all the games. This way more people know about these titles before they are released. Plus if they wanted a game that didn’t win the vote, you still can pick it up at a reduced price.

      I’m trying to gather more Armello votes and would love to see you make that choice. But that said I’m sure all these games will be available for purchase once the votes are tallied. It just means one will be free (still hoping for Armello “http://armello.com/”) and the others should be available for a decent price.

    I thought this was going to be much easier, but it’s not. I think I’m leaning towards Zombie Vikings because it has humor and the characters look wacky. I’m not much of a card player so I’m not sure of the Armello (even though the animated trailer looks awesome) and Grow home looks pretty interesting though.

      Armello is much more than just cards, its also very much a board game with dice rolls for combat. It’s quite fun and strategic. You can tell the Devs put their heart into this game, and having been playing it in Alpha since early this year I can tell you now that its really fun if you like the type of game.

      Take a look at their site FreonTheFrozen “http://armello.com/” a decent amount of depth and tonnes of replay. I think whatever you vote for is fine, but I would love to get Armello for free and build up a large player base on the PS4 for this great looking game.

    I absolutely loved “Stick It to The Man!” and while they all look like great games, something about the Boardgame/RPG nature of “Armello” has me wanting it badly. Granted, I will still definitely get “Zombie Vikings” regardless.

The only way to find out is to give us that “none of the above” option so Sony can see whether most PS + members actually like these cheesy games.

      That’s super unfortunate, I guess I see the charm in Indie games. Sure I love a AAA every once in a while, but my bet is that most AAA Devs don’t want to hand out their games for free or at a high discount. I figured we should just feel lucky we get any free games at all. Kinda expect free stuff to be smaller in scale to be honest.

      “None of the above” is a perfectly viable voting option that should be available. I personally like the choices this month, but some months I don’t care for the genera and think it would be great at least be able to let them know in a constructive way.

      Take a look at Armello “http://armello.com/” to give it a chance. I don’t mean to be pushy but I think it is a very good looking game that deserve to be seen.

    Vote for Armello! I have beta tested it. It’s pretty fun, and is beautiful down to every detail, especially the cards which all have animated artwork on them. The music is great, too.

    What good is free stuff if it is useless? I’m not saying we should get six AAAs every month, but the PS4 is now two years old. There are plenty of old release AAA games lying around now to give us one a month. I probably have most of them already, but it would be nice to be given a chance to get something that I would actually play instead of rolling my eyes and wondering why I’m paying for PS + for the umpteenth time.

They don’t even have to give us free games if they really didn’t want to, lol.     I wish there were more games for adults and those, who are not as easily entertained, by games that are reboots of old tech games, like side-scrollers, for example. I can’t vote for any of these games, because none of them look interesting, from the perspective of a veteran or adult gamer. I have both the ps3 and ps4, and in the last 5 months of mandatory, ps plus subscription, there has been a total of 2 free games, that were interesting enough to play! Where’s the good games, Sony? Why are you holding back the good stuff?

      As a “veteran adult gamer” I can tell you now that Armello is the most adult game on the list. It’s not meant to be ‘silly’ or childish by any means despite the animal theme. As an example some of their cards have characters in fatal situations… as in.. being executed, murdered, etc… it really is like some of the reviews say “Game of Thrones”. Take a look at some of the card art on the Armello wiki, and read some reviews. I know the animal theme might seem childish, but in this case, it really isn’t. Plus it does involve some strategic thinking that makes this game not for a younger/simpler audience. I hope that helps =)

    I will always have fun laughing at the people who bought a PS4 and thought they wouldn’t have to buy any games because they spend $4 a month on Plus. All the “AAA” games you want so bad are right there in the store. Whining like a toddler because no one will give them to you for free is pretty sad. If you can’t afford to buy the games you want, perhaps you might look into a different hobby. Video games cost money. Especially the big ones. And if Plus is such a bad value, then let it expire and tell me how many amazing AAA games you’re buying with that immense amount of cash you’re saving.

    In the meantime, I hope Sony keeps giving me new, small, under-the-radar games that I can play in between the big releases, rather than average big-budget games that I already played two or three years ago when they came out.
