PlayStation TV: Nearly 700 Games to Play Starting October 14th

With PlayStation TV’s launch right around the corner on October 14, I’m pleased to confirm that nearly 700 games will be available in the U.S. and Canada to play on PS TV on Day One, including established, popular franchises like Killzone: Mercenary, cult hits like Persona 4 Golden, and classics like Twisted Metal. In addition, I’m pleased to announce that Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom from Little Orbit will also be available in November for PS TV (as well as PS Vita). Our library will continue to expand, with other fan favorites like Minecraft and more. We’re proud to bring such a broad array of content from multiple PlayStation platforms to PS TV, a small console at a great value.

PlayStation TV

On October 14, you can pick up a PS TV starting at $99.99 (MSRP) for the standalone system, or $139.99 (MSRP) for the bundle that includes a Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK 3), 8GB memory card, and The LEGO Movie Videogame. For a limited time, you can find an exclusive PS TV bundle at Walmart, which comes with everything in the PS TV bundle plus Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, also for $139.99 (MSRP).

PS TV has a large and diverse lineup of games for players of all types, including:

  • Rayman Origins
  • Persona 4 Golden
  • God of War Collection
  • Killzone: Mercenary
  • FINAL FANTASY X / X-2 HD Remaster
  • Dragon’s Crown
  • Spelunky
  • FINAL FANTASY TACTICS: WAR OF THE LIONS
  • Patapon
  • Twisted Metal
  • Borderlands 2
  • Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom

PlayStation TV

PS TV plays select content from PlayStation systems past and present, including:

  • PlayStation Vita – PS TV plays select titles from PS Vita, which can either be downloaded to the device or inserted directly into the system using a PS Vita card.
  • PlayStation Classics – Download classic games from PS One and PlayStation Portable, like Wipeout and Twisted Metal.
  • PlayStation 3 – Our game streaming service PS Now is coming to PS TV, which will let you play many PS3 games on the device over the Internet*.
  • PlayStation 4 – If you’re a PS4 owner, use Remote Play to stream a remote play enabled PS4 game from your console to a PS TV over a wired internet connection. If the living room is tied up, just use Remote Play to send your PS4 game up to the bedroom and keep playing on PS TV.
  • *PS Now service may not be available in all areas. For details, see http://us.playstation.com/playstationnow

You can find more information on the games available for PS TV here: The list will continue to grow as our library expands, so stay tuned for more.

PlayStation TV may be a small platform, but it’s got a big PlayStation heart. We hope you get a chance to experience it when it launches in North America on October 14.

    • Sony, here’s a suggestion: Instead of forcing compatibility with the whitelist, why not simply display a warning message before a user attempts to play a game with limited support?

For example, the reason why Wipeout 2048 is “incompatible” with the Vita TV (PS TV) is because the menus are all navigated using the touchscreen. However, I’m willing to take that risk of having an “impaired play experience”, I just want to play the game fullstop. I own a DualShock 4 controller, why not make all limited support touch-reliant games use the DS4 touchpad, just like with the case of Hatsune Miku Project Diva f?

I am an owner of the original PS Vita TV (purchased in Japan early this year), and really would have liked it a bit more if games such as Wipeout 2048 were playable. That would have been one of the games which would look decent on a large screen, much more impressive to show off to friends. I doubt Wipeout 2048 will actually be patched so that it will support the Vita TV, because the studio responsible for it has closed down. If the whitelist isn’t removed, that means that game is gone forever for anyone who wants to play it on TV, unless they mod their portable Vita or somehow find a Vita devkit with HDMI-out.

    • Went on Walmart’s website and the bundle does not say anything about Sly Cooper. When will this be available?

    • Will there be a patch or update so that a PS Vita System can be used as the controller so all vita games can be played on a HDTV?
It’d be nice for those of use who own both a Vita system and a PSTV to be able to play every game possible.

    • When I looked at the compatibility list for the PSP games, I noticed Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake, Gran Turismo, Motorstorm: Artic Edge, and Twisted Metal: Head On were on it. Does this mean that those games will soon be compatible to the PS Vita too? Please tell me it’s true because I really want to play Twisted Metal: Head On on my Vita.

@D-Squad3 I think you FAIL to notice that Gravity Rush requires touch screen controls in order to play the game. That’s why it’s not on the list. No offense, but get your facts straight.

    • RIP Vita…..

    • First, is Sony ever getting the Time Warner App? 2nd seriously, so for $40 more, you get more stuffs than the PSTV itself. Sorry I think that the basic SKU should be lowered, kind of ripping consumers off with that SKU.

    • Will this be Region-Locked like the Japanese model is?

    • Will I be able to output via HDMI to an external capture card (i.e.: Elgato Game Capture) towards twitch broadcasting?

    • I have two Vita’s.

Will this system count as it’s own system or will I have to deactivate a Vita?

You guys have not been clear about system activation.

    • Ok I’m sold on the idea. My question is are these games preloaded, or do I have to purchase them individually?

    • I may pick this up if Sony can get its act together and get more games for the PSOne/PS2/PSP library. Specifically PSOne/PS2 rpg’s. I don’t even remember the last time we got a good classic rpg besides the usual Atlus stuff.

    • Also, nice to see Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate on that list too. Gives me more of a reason to play it on that instead of getting it for PS3.

@Ghostwize So the PS Vita is dead means the original 3DS is dead too because of New 3DS? Of course not dumb a**. The
PS TV is another option for players to play Vita games and remote play on PS4 on the big screen. Get your facts straight.

    • I am very much looking forward to playing Persona 4 Golden on a big screen.

    • Not for me… The games I want to play will be all physical copies that I own and without the hassle of poor quality & streaming services! I don’t need another space waster box added next to my PS3 & 4.

    • I cannot believe Uncharted: Golden Abyss is not on the supported list. That’s probably the best Vita game I ever played.

    • Alright here is a good question. What is the internet speed requirements I need to stream on PSTV if you have the info. Plus distance as well for example my ps4 is in California and I’m in New York.

    • I am really excited for Playstation TV’s release. Any chance you will be also releasing the 64GB memory card here in the US at the same time ? A price reduction for all the memory cards at the time of this release would also be a good move to get people to purchase before the holiday. I already have a 32 GB card for my Vita but would love a 64 GB for the Playstation TV to allow me to have more of my game available without always having to delete old games to make room for new ones. I have many PSone, PSP and Vita games that I look forward to playing on the big screen with a DS4, not to mention all the PS4 remote play I plan on doing.

    • Wow. Stay classy Gamerzlimited. Keep the posts clean buddy. :P
What I stated in no way, shape or form was a fact. More of an opinion. The Vita is clearly rocking it in Japan. Not so much in the US. It’s an awesome handheld but I think this little gizmo will inadvertently kill it off in the US all together. The dang memory cards though. UGH! The prices are crazy stupid on those things.

    • well now I want a Z3 Compact and a PS TV… SONY just take all my money!!! :P

    • @Ghostwize I apologize about the insult, it’s just that I’m tired of hearing that quote you said over and over again when it’s not entirely true. I’ll see it when I believe it, until then I won’t. But yeah, I get your point. Those memory cards prices are outrageous and they haven’t even released the 64 GB here yet. I wonder why? It’s a great system, but I wouldn’t recommend one if the memory card are still going to cost this much. Maybe if people stopped playing with their smartphones, then the Vita would have gotten more sales. Handheld consoles are almost dead because of that.

Plus, the New 3DS was just an example. Nintendo isn’t dumb enough to not support the original 3DS after the new one comes out in the west, so I don’t think Sony would with the Vita after the TV comes out either.

    • I see at least two trolls saying something bad about the PS TV… I do hope you guys know what you are talking about because Sony stated that the PS TV will be a whole new different market for the vita and unless you ARE NOT Sony, you just log on here to make those trolling statements…

You know who you are, stay classy. ;)

    • Are all PSP games not on the list not launchable on the PS TV? That’s disappointing if true, there shouldn’t be a hardware limitation for running those. I want to play Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker’s local multiplayer, for example.

    • QUESTION! so my younger brother is getting a ps vita but just to play one game. So I’m planning on getting a memory card for it to do my biz. But I wanna know. Is there any drawback to switching out memory card repeatedly to play games? We’ll be using the same psn account.

    • Does the PlaystationTV’s WiFi support 5GHz access points? I have trouble with remote play in certain rooms because of the range limitations of the 2.4GHz band.

    • Will Adventure Time get a physical release? Very interested if so.

    • There’s something wrong with the box art. It has a big bubble showing “OVER $54 IN VALUE”. If I see this box selling at retail at $139.99, of cos it’s “over $54 in value”. You don’t think I will pay $139.99 for something worth under $54 in value, do you?

Perhaps it should say “FREE Gifts – Over $54 in Value”, but that’s not true either, cos the additional items are not free. They are costing me $40.

    • Why are Soul Sacrifice Delta and YS not on the list? The ASIA version is compatible as far as I recall. These are the games I purchased Vita for and probably PSTV when they are supported. And no Gravity Rush makes me sad. I want to re-play that game with PS4 Controller :(
      Does Freedom War also compatible?

    • No Uncharted for Vita… no sale

    • I assume you’ll have to buy games to play and download to the device? Just want to make sure.

    • Any word on an update for anyone who imported a Vita TV beforehand ?

    • When will I be able to buy games off of ps now I don’t rent so this is a waste for me and I want the pstv but don’t know if I can’t own the games no buy for me

    • If I sign into my ps account on ps tv will all my downloaded games be playable?

    • Is there a fee to play? After you buy the system do you have to subscribe to something to play the games?

    • Wait I thought ps one classics were coming to ps4? Is that accurate or not?

    • Vita is dead because Sony doesn’t make games worth caring about on it.
Vita is dead because Sony has moved Gravity Rush’s followup to PS4.
Vita is dead because SCEA hasn’t run a single TV commercial since 2012.
Vita is dead because of limited third party support.
Vita is dead because of Sony.

Vita is not dead because of a revision without a screen that will sell worse than the real deal.

    • The biggest question I have is when doing remote play with the PS4 can you use a different user account?? So if I’m on my account and my daughter uses her’s with the PS TV and im on the PS4 will that work? So we can play multiplayer with one PS4. If already asked earlier sorry guys and gals

    • Will the 700+ games be on Playstation Now? Or will they be available to buy?

    • Is SOCOM going to be on there if not I won’t be wasting my money…..

    • I really, really wish SCEA didn’t block Capcom from releasing Breath of Fire III PSP back in 2006. We would’ve been able to play the game on the Vita TV that way. :/

At least European and Japanese PSN users get to do it on their PlayStation TVs…

    • Does it come with internal storage? Or do I have to use a memory card to get started?

    • So, might be a dumb question, but I can connect this to a monitor through an HDMI port, right?

    • What about all the free digital PS3 games I have for being a Plus member. Actually what about all the Plus content (PS3, PSN games, Vita, PS1, PS2, PS4?????)

    • Not only are you dropping first party support for Vita, you are dropping “Vita” from Vita TV?

    • This is what I like to say about the whole situation I am very tired I’m havin to buy a new PlayStation just so I can have games to play I just think that they should keep makin games for the people who have PlayStation 3 platforms an continue to make game’s for people who have newer platform’s such as ps4 an 5 an so on because not everybody is able to keep buying a new system just cause there’s no games for the old systems so please Sony can you still make games for the ps3 owners

    • It doesn’t play Birth By Sleep :( It’s perfect except for that.

    • So do you need the PS4 and other Playstation systems to play the games on this or No? I’m confused on that part.

    • Well some games I wouldn’t mind playing on the TV are on the list, but not all. Oh well, it will happen eventually.

Also big question, will the Playstation TV have the option to disable HDCP during gameplay? As a YouTube LPer in the works, I’d love expanding my videos into the Vita library. Being able to record gameplay can be the deal breaker for me, as well as a lot of other people I imagine.

    • Where do we buy all these games? from the PS store? and for games that arent on the list yet does the tv just not play the the game even if its a physical copy?

    • I already pre-orders for PlayStation TV – But I really like to see PlayStation Now put DEAD for good because this is completely DUMB to have “rental” com’on!

I brought digital from PSN store it should included in PlayStation Now. but no wonder why that you are hungry more money rental concept. I told to my friend/family that don’t use it PlayStationNow because it’s completely SCAM. So they agree also.

So.. fact is you need bring brighter future for gaming community, but not for GREED like you have on PlayStation Now.

Time for you to FIX for PlayStation Now or pull the plug,

    • If the PS TV could play Gravity Rush 2 without streaming it from PS4 would be nice. hurr hurr :B
