Later today, the next system software update for PlayStation 4 (version 1.51) will be available. With this minor required update, stability of system software has been improved. In addition, minor refinements to elements of the system UI (such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time) have been introduced.
In the North American region, automatic downloads for system and game updates are enabled by default when PS4 is in stand-by mode. Once system software update 1.51 is available later tonight, your PS4 will automatically download it, enabling you to update quickly and easily.

How about making the ui customizable ? or at least putting themes back in or letting you put a picture as your background…
Was able to resolve my issue by restarting in safe mode.
I’d love to have the ability to pause downloads (something the PS3 does currently). There are times where I’ve got multiple items downloading but would prefer my resources to be allocated to just one item in particular.
I had zero issues runnimg firmware 1.50, but since updating to 1.51 I find that every game I have tried to play crashes at indeterminate times.
I can be simply looking at leaderboards, or in the middle of playing a level and the system will completely freeze.
The only way out of it is to remove the power cord.
Is anyone else seeing this issue? Any news on a workaround?

Got a hard lock on Killzone Shadowfall. This is my first PS4 freeze and I am on 1.51
Just updated, went to play BF4 and nothing, get to the “press the options button to begin” and it just stops. Tried eight times and still nothing, the last time I’ve left it on this screen for 20 mins and still nothing. I guess you fixed the blue screen errors Sony, If we can’t play the games then they can’t crash!
I definitely agree with those who want DLNA support. I would like it to be definite and not a “possibility” and I’d like it to happen soon rather than “in the future”. When I see DLNA support as a “possibility in the future” it means there is a 50/50 chance that if it does happen, it won’t be until months later. I’d prefer a yes answer to a “maybe” one.
I sort of feel that this sorry launch should come with a year of plus, so we can at least get a weeks worth of play at some point.
Can’t wait for 11-22-13, I’ll have my Xbone and get to play BF4 on it for a day maybe, or until it crashes as well. I understand there are problems that happen but this is your forth system (remember you named them 1, 2, 3, and 4 to keep count) so for ALL systems to not work within a week is tragic. I’d say people on the fence are falling into MS backyard with news like this from their friends.

@8 it has minimal support for pulse, but support none the less. Are you a pulse owner? If so try it. Plug your auxiliary cord for PSP into the controllers aux jack and the USB wireless adapter into the PS4 should work does for me….
also @266 &269 must be your internet are you lan or wireless if not lan run a rj 45 to your ethernet port stick it go to settings->network->connect to network and follow directions its 30 min for mine and my connection is running at max 6 mb/s
@explodingbullet I am on lan…I test the internet speed on my desktop and get 22MB/s every time and it still says 5 hours??

It is not just you. I have 12mb internet service and if I try to download the update on my PS4, it stops around 30mb and doesn’t go any further. 12 hours was the last estimation it gave me so I decided to download the update to a usb drive and install it that way. I have been downloading for 30 minutes and it has only downloaded 3.08% and has an estimated time of 17 hours to finish. Something is going on with Sony. This needs to be resolved quickly and with all the comments saying the update is freezing their system, I am not sure I want to download the update.

The feature to save you password, as you described, isn’t on the PS4, yet.

I installed it the morning.
It took about 4-5 mins to install.
Actually was very quick.
I have between 15 and 18 MB d/l speeds.

Where is the link to update by flash drive….I need to download it seeing as I just upgraded my hard drive and in order to reboot the system, I need to load version 1.51 via a usb flash. So where is the link?

I downloaded the update and when I installed it my system restarted with just a black screen.
I called Sony and after being on hold for 1:49 mins some lady have a breakdown answered and yelled about her supervisor. She calmed down and I explained I had tried the manual update via usb already and she said please hold and then proceeded to tell her supervisor she didn’t know **** about the PS4 and she was ready to quit.
Then she got back on with me and they’re sending me a box to ship it back in so I can get shipped a replacement.
Thanks for the update Sony. That was really great of you. Thanks for breaking my system and subjecting me to the kind of customer service I used to think was only possible from cable companies and civil servants. I’m really glad I switched from Xbox now.

Sony says: mail it back. You have to call them on the number on the bottom of the box. I waited almost 2 hours on hold to hear that.
OK, I unplugged, removed HDD, replaced HDD, got the display to show up on Vita via remote play but not TV. From Vita I attempted to re-initialize. PS4 restarted and now I get white bar with black screen on TV.

That sucks… At least I have my Xbox One being delivered on Friday. Hopefully Microsoft gives me a better experience.
One thing I love is the Anynet* support for my Samsung TV. all I have to do is hit bythe PS button on my controller and my TV you will automatically turn on and switch to the correct HDMI port. However I am noticing a certain glitch with the PlayStation app.when I open the app it will automatically switch on my playstation. I’m not sure why but I don’t want to do that because then it turns on my TV. If I’m not home I have a plasma TV sitting on for hours and hours and I can’t turn off.

Why doesn’t the ps4 recognize a usb stick like the ps triple? I cant add media to it. I didn’t just want it for games can anybody tell me if that will be patched because im a loyal ps fan 10+years but I need those old features I made the ps3 a system for all my gaming/media needs im not subscribing to netflix or any of that other stuff when I have a ton of digital downloads I can simply transfer over the files to my ps4. sorry to ramble on but I need a answer. Bluray Movies dont play, kinda,but also just tried it tonight. It played Avatar the first time after a long delay but after I shutdown and tried watching later it no longer started. maybe a storage issue looking for where i last stopped watching ? wont play from beginning either.

Wow…..I am loving the PS4 plus the new UI, but very let down about not having CD/mp3, DLNA media server, Google+, YouTube, PS Home, or away to add/share/slidshow with music, share pictures to and from the hdd, flicker or picasa or even play memories would be nice. Can’t wait for infamous second son, keep up the good work.
Okay so this made no difference to my PS4 at all. I’m sure it helped some but I’ve got a million other, in my opinion, WAY more important issues than download notifications. My console was stable as it was. What about Battlefield 4 crashing all the time, not once recording sound when I upload clips, or just not recording at all even when I double tap share yo make sure it records? I know I know, it’s not a Sony issue. It’s Dice’s problem to fix. Unless you ask them then it’s a problem on Sony’s end. I get these updates but why not be more open about issues. I’ve seen other people complain about the same problems on the official Sony forums with ZERO responses. It doesn’t seem quite fair that some people only have one game and can’t play it.
Next PS4 Update Suggestion:
Have a friends online notification option that way we can see who signs or goes offline instead of browsing the online friends menu to see whos online, just saves time that way
When sending messages to your PS3 Friends from PS4 it should say sent from PlayStation 4 System like how PS Vita had a while ago
