Pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS3
It’s T-minus six days from the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS3 November 5th, and we wanted to share a few cool things we’ve been working on as we’re gearing up for the big launch.
Pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts on PlayStation Store and you’ll be able to start downloading the game any time after 3:00 PM PT on Sunday, November 3rd so you can begin playing as soon as 12:01 AM PST on November 5th. This feature will be available for both the standard game and the Digital Hardened Edition.
Then, after you’ve picked up your game, take advantage of the Double XP event during launch weekend from Friday, November 8th (10:00 AM PT) to Monday, November 11th (10:00 AM PT). You’ll earn twice as much XP on all of your multiplayer accomplishments.
Also, for those of you planning on picking up a PS4, don’t forget you’ll be able to upgrade your PS3 version to the PS4 version for $9.99 — get the full details on that program here.

@396 – I’d reset your router. That seems way too slow for a 60 mbps. Unless you’re sharing it with a family member whom’s torrenting.

This pisses me off cuz I downloaded gta v in two hours and that was the highest selling game on psn and I got it as soon as it went live

you think if we download it then disconnect or internet and set our internal clock on the ps3 to november 5th we could play it offline on the campaign

@bloodfang probably not. It would still be encrypted. But let us know if it works. That would be awesome!
@ 417 – Preloads get unlocked on server end. It’s not based on your clock. They have to open access on their side.
I would try it myself but im using my neighbors internet and we dont have the wep key no more so if i disconnect to try it i wont be able to get back online was hoping someone else would. unless theres a way to disconnect from the internet without having to reapply the wep key on reconnection
Can’t you just ask them for the key again?
I’ll be buying it on disc, but it’s cool that PSN is doing this. I might get Destiny digitally at launch so being able to pre-load it would be convenient.

So you realize people it is 12:01am PST. So if you live on the East Coast. You wont be able to play it until 3:01am. Still buying my copy at the store since I live on the east coast.
I have a family. There would be no midnight launch for me. So this is easiest regardless.
@425 I play alot of different games and don’t like having to change the disk all the time. Plus the new slim’s disk drive is as loud as Peter Griffin. Digital’s just easier and more convenient.
It would be nice if they released it by time zone instead of waiting for it to hit 12:01 PST. That is the catch they didn’t explain.
That would be fantastic. Maybe they will. Maybe with enough backlash against not doing it that way they will change it.
@ 428 – Digital releases have ALWAYS been this way. It’s illegal for a retailer to sell a game prior to the actual release date. Now while EST being 3 hours ahead can go buy a disk at midnight, which is only 9pm for PST, if they bought it digital, they can just buy it, then their friend in cali can log into their account and play it, which would break their release date. Yea it sucks for us east coasters, and yea it’s a silly concept since it’s only 3 hours, but whatever. It could be worse, some games I’ve preordered on Steam I didn’t get to play till after their servers updated at 2pm est.

Downloading now more than half way done in 15 mins, in T-dot here wow. Good luck to you all and many sleepless nights for the next little while. Wonder what is the measurable on loss of work productivity? Loss of social life? Loss of girlfriends? each time COD is launched annually ? Enjoy guys an gals, for the first time I don’t have to wait in line for 3 hours in the cold trying get a copy of this game. That means I will get fatter sitting on the coach snacking on chips and waiting for the clock to tick midnight.
@412: It needs to have twice the file size worth of free space, for some reason. Just erase a bunch of smaller files and then re-install or re-download whatever you need back.
Its probably in installation package that is compressed. Then it would expand it when you press install. I could see it easily needing more than twice its size to work then delete the original package when its finished
Almost finished downloading! I’m in Cincy, so I can’t play till 3am tomorrow? They need to figure that out, or there is basically no incentive to buying digital. There’s no technology to locate your system, therefore allowing you to play at midnight!?!?!?! C’MON MANN!

Nice to be able to pre-download, VERY nice. Appreciate it, Sony! And I agree with other posters who suggest all digitally delivered games should be able to downloaded prior to actual release date/time.
I love this idea. Always been a fan of digital but in the past I could be online that much quicker by pre-ordering from a store, grabbing a midnight, and racing home.
Having to wait the extra hour (Mountain time zone) is a bummer, but its freezing cold here so I will take it over waiting in line.
Here’s to hoping this is an option for all PS4 games after launch.
I don’t think we will have to wait till the pst time. I talked to Sony support and was told you can play the game at midnight any time zone. When I go to info on the installed ghosts it says 5/11/13 00:00 so here’s hoping. My friend could play BF4 at midnight GMT.
So I already pre-ordered COD Ghosts through their website and today found out about this so I am wondering is this for people that haven’t pre-ordered it yet? Do they still get the Free Fall bonus map? I think if you pre-order something you should get it before anyone that didn’t pre-order it. Like for BO2 they didn’t start the shipping process of the game until the day it was released and I didn’t get it until about a week later. Just a few questions and thoughts I wanted to share…

Hello. I am still confused about the time you can play in EST. I am happy they let us preload it ( mine is going now) but what is the point if they don’t let you play? I wish I would have known about the 3 am thing. I would have certainly gone to the store. Something is just fun about playing at release. All the people in CA will be kicking our butts for awhile.
Although I figured I wouldn’t be able to play until 1 downloading anyway which would have been the same as buying in store.
