Don’t be alarmed — no, it’s not Monday. Although PlayStation Plus updates typically kick off the week, we’re trying something new by pulling back the curtain on our Instant Game Collection updates a little early.
For September, Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection is leading the charge, so you can break out your PlayStation Move Controllers (yes, regular controllers work too) and start destroying zombies. Later this month you’ll get the HD-remastered version of iconic PS2 classic ICO, one of Rockstar’s awesome portable versions of Grand Theft Auto (in this case, GTA: Liberty City Stories), Ubisoft’s loveable platformer Rayman Origins for PS Vita and the classic arcade shooter Galaga Legions DX.

Btw, those of you who are new to Ico, don’t give up if it doesn’t suit you right away. It’s a different kind of game, a quieter, more personal experience. You may find you love it, like I did.
Terrible Update even worse than August which I didn’t think was Possible atleast we got an ACTUAL PS3 GAME in August which was very good. This Month we get a 12 year old PS2 game and two mediocre Wii Ports and a crap PSN game that hardly anyone liked when it first came and then we look at Europe who continues to get AAA PS3 games every month, if this is the way NA PS Plus is gonna treat it’s customers then atleast lower the price to reflect the sub-par offerings because it’s complete BS that everyone is paying for the same service yet One Region continues to get better content, No wonder Sony lost North America to Xbox this gen clearly SCEA is run by idiots.
You think they would have the common sense to try and build up PS Plus and justify the fact that it will be required for MP on PS4 instead they are giving everyone the finger because they know we don’t have a choice since almost every game is MP focused now, I can’t even being to imagine how awful the PS4 offerings will and I don’t wanna imagine the awful PS3 games we will get once PS4 launches lol.

The RE collection is certainly something new and something I’ll be looking forward to. Perhaps one day we could we the RE1 REmake for free, or Resident Evil 4. But make sure to spread them, I don’t want games each month to be RE. ICO looks cool, but it’s probably something that I won’t download unless I see I really should, like trophies or friends bragging. And I’m not interested in the other game at all. As for Rayman Origins, I don’t know why you put it for free after a sale, it’s like a middle finger to your customers. GTA is cool, but I’d rather see a PS Vita game, as we’ve been getting constant PSP games for months now. Need I say almost everyone was against the constant PSP fighters. Now, the problem with this update was that there’s nothing big. Not a single triple A title. While RE is nice, ICO doesn’t even have SotC with it? Seriously? That’s so cheap of you guys. EU got Stealth Inc, and that’s not even new new. But, whatever. I’ll be trying some out. But it really wasn’t good. I really think the NA team that picks out the IGC, or tries making deals with publishers isn’t doing a good job. At ALL. We need EUs team. Anyways, I’m done here. Bye.

I have no plans to buy a PS4 or the “New Xbox” because I never buy consoles at launch. I’ll just wait 2 years from now. By the time, both companies would be running full steam by then.
And if Sony does have an option to cancel your subscription, they already took your money and they’re not giving it back to you. But we can’t because we already signed their contract, so Sony owns all of us like their puppets.
Meh to 100% of the content. Your “featured” free game is one that presumably was optimized for use with an optional accessory, and had a spotty track record in terms of quality.
A PS 2 game that was fugly during the PS2 era, and a game that was forgettable in every aspect outside of its attempt at cashing in on nostalgia from middle aged gamers are the other two.
I don’t have a Vita, so I don’t feel like commenting on those games, as they don’t affect me in the slightest, but I literally have NOTHING to look forward to this month from you guys.
Thank the gods that GTA V is coming out, because this month is an effing insult to those of us on a console-only end of things.
gotta say, I love the update guys. I’m kinda on the fence about RE Chronicles, but I’ll give it a shot, surely it was better than 5, and I know it will be better than 6. My only real complaints, and they’re not 100% complaints, but, I would’ve rather had the Shadow of the Collossus and ICO collection, myself, but I already own SoTC on PS2, but I’ve never played ICO :D I also would’ve rather us had GTA IV Complete versus Liberty City stories, but hey, it’s GTA, I can’t complain much, it’ll hold me over until I get V hopefully on launch. Also, epic win with Rayman, and surely Galaga will be good (I know the old arcade game was pretty fun)
overall, very strong update, one of the best this year :D
Let me make it clear though that I’m still overall quite happy with my PS+ experience, and I know that not every month is going to be littered with treasures that are right up my alley, in terms of things I like.
I’m not going to be like an earlier poster who’s demanding to be allowed to cancel his subscription and furious that the games aren’t up to his standard.
I’m just a little disappointed, because the quality of what we’re getting this month really does seem to be considerably lower than what the EU is getting this month.

Firstly, kudos to you guys for putting this up on the blog earlier, even though we all know it’s due to IGN and what not releasing it first, hopefully you’ll continue this in the future like EU does.
Secondly…..while this isn’t a bad month, EU, by comparison, is INFINITELY better yet again.
What is this? Not one, but TWO full retail games, one of which contains THREE HD remastered games?
And we get….half an HD collection? When EU got it, they had BOTH together? What is that?
Why is there such a huge discrepancy, every single month? Especially considering PS has sold MORE in EU, so it can’t be some ridiculous thing about sales, as you lose more in EU by giving them 2/3 retail titles each month.

I bought Rayman Origins at launch but that is a fantastic addition to the IGC. The rest of the month looks pretty good too and if Plus insists on giving us a PSP game every month I would rather see GTA than another sub par fighting game, though I would still rather see smaller Vita titles in the $3 – $5 price range than any PSP title period. Or skip the PSP title and give us something more current as the retail title every month, you know kinda like the way EU Plus does it(the right way). Anyways this month is pretty good compared to the last few and Rayman Origins is dope even though I’ll be playing Legends myself in September. Looking forward to trying Ico out finally.

I was just reading through some of the comments after posting my thoughts on the update…and…my head hurts from the level of stupidity in majority of the complainers.
I’ll break it down nice and easy for those who don’t have a big enough brain to figure it out:
SONY doesn’t control what comes into the IGC fully, the owners of the games do, so EU gets Assassin’s Creed III, i Personally pre-ordered it in March of 2012, and picked it up on launch, if you want a game like that so bad, go BUY IT! and don’t whine that EU gets it free and we don’t. EU got it because Ubisoft agreed to let it be put as free in Europe, the NA plus guys most likely asked about getting it over here (and maybe not, idk), but Ubisoft said no, or something like that. Chances are, it sold better in NA than in EU, I do not know and cannot find anything to back it up, but my point is, it isn’t always SONY’s fault, so stop blaming them you idiots!

Sweet updated; ICO alone is more than worth it! I still own the ps2 disc but it will be nice to play it in proper HD. Galaga is the icing on the cake. Haven’t tried either of the Resident Evil titles but they may be a welcome addition during downtime :D

Is it possible to be able to take your pick of Rayman Origins on Vita OR PS3? I have it on Vita, but would love it free on PS3 to play with my girlfriend. Just a thought maybe for future reference: a “take your pick” between either console if not both?

@ wycliff_12 I agree sony NA should allow us to cancel subscription and refund at least 50% of it is better than getting a game that just got on sale 2 weeks ago for 7.50$ rayman vita and a very old psp game. Heck vita indie is better than a psp game. I bought vita and subscribe here because of vita service not for psp. I’m done with psp that’s why it’s obvious I bought vita.
P.S. SCEA is fooling its customer by putting a sale on a game then later after JUST A WEEK they will put on IGC. That doesn’t make sense why put a IGC service to a game just got sale last 2 weeks?
@thelookey6, hi. I think the bt…..guy is mostly right. I sometimes read the EU blog, which is also full of complainers, and people from one country will complain that they don’t get something either the same time or at all as say, Great Britain. They also read our blog and complain that games cost them more than us.
It’s not so simple that international companies are just 1 brand. They have to incorporate separately in each country to comply with the local laws. Also, publishers are different in each country. So, Demon’s Souls was published by Atlus here, but another company in Japan. Was it Namco? And then the sorta sequel was published by Namco. I think it’s a lot more complicated than we all want to know and that affects which region gets which Plus deals.
I bought a EU Plus membership in case I wanted to get their offerings and have access to their PSN, which has some different games available than us.

i complain about psp games because ps+ is for vita and ps3 and if they give away psp games each month. i have ps+ for the discount but i have no problem speaking up for people who do not want to speak up because they think it is rude. i buy all my games and anyone who wants a message from my ps+ account/360/steam/ then just speak up.
there is no reason for eu to get 2 full vita games since last oct. and us gets psp games each month or a indie game lol you do the math if you can count
