UNCHARTED: Fight For Fortune Coming to PS Vita in December

Hi everyone! I am excited to announce UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune, an original title coming to the PlayStation Store exclusively for PS Vita this December.

UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune is an action-adventure turn-based card game featuring the heroes and villains from the UNCHARTED universe. Take a look at the new trailer of the game below to give you an idea of how combat works.

UNCHARTED: Fight For Fortune Coming to PS Vita in December

So you’re probably wondering, how exactly does Fight For Fortune work? I’ll explain. The core gameplay in UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune involves creating a team of Faction cards featuring heroes, villains, and mercenaries from the UNCHARTED universe, then using that team to defeat your opponent while defending yourself from their attacks.

Each Faction card can be equipped with powerful Resource and valuable Fortune cards, which enhance their stats and give them special abilities. Once you’ve selected and equipped a card, it’s time to head into battle! During combat, attacks either reduce the health of opposing Faction cards or the health of your opponent. Defeating an opposing Faction card removes it from play, while reducing the health of your opponent to zero wins you the game.

The rich lore that surrounds the UNCHARTED universe gave us the opportunity to create UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss, complete with lush, artifact-filled environments. With over 300 treasures to be found, we wanted to find a way to allow our fans to delve deeper into the artifact collections and mysteries of the UNCHARTED universe.

UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune for PS Vita

Along with the release of UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune, we will also release a new patch for UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss that will power up the artifacts that you’ve collected for immediate use within Fight for Fortune. Using the artifacts found within Golden Abyss, you can go to battle with other players as well as AI opponents. The game can also be played independently of Golden Abyss, so owning the PS Vita title is not required.

Bend Studio Co-Director John Garvin and I have led the charge on UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune since the launch of Golden Abyss to take the mobile UNCHARTED experience even further. In addition to our close collaboration with Naughty Dog, we are also pleased to introduce One Loop Games, a team of talented industry veterans who worked closely with us to chart new ground into the UNCHARTED universe.

UNCHARTED: Fight For Fortune is launching December 4 for $4.99 on PS Vita. There will be much more to talk about as we quickly approach the launch date, including some great additional DLC on launch day, so keep your PS Vita handy and get ready to go fortune hunting!

  • *sigh* “I didn’t ask for this”

Seriously why? Give us U3 MP on the go with Golden Abyss.

Anyway hopefully this patch will fix that stupid bounty thing that is keeping me from my platinum. I can’t seem to complete that list of items and it has been what …. 6 months since I purchased the game….. *shakes fist at Sony*

When can we hear more on the next Bend project?

  • I just registered to post a comment.

All I have to say is, shame on you Sony and whoever is developing this. Who the bloody hell wants to play a card game on the PSVita? This handheld is the most powerful dedicated handheld console to ever release, and we PSVita owners are getting garbage games like this?

What’s worse is that this is an “Uncharted” game. Way to go at making the franchise look stupid. Instead of wasting and burning your resources on crap games like this, go spend that money on real gaming titles, where people will actually spend over 15 minutes playing it.

This card game should’ve been meant for smartphones and iOS users, not for the PSVita. We want games fools, real games.

    • Uncharted: Fight For Fortune is designed for those who want a fun game they can take with them. Turns only take a few seconds to play. You can have many games going on at once, asynchronously, with your friends. It has a ton of replayability as you work through the single player unlocking cards, skins and more. It has something crazy, like 8 hours of gameplay, which isn’t bad for $5.

  • WOW What an awesome game to play on my high end quad core VITA!

    lol epic fail!

  • Frm: fb332

In the famous words from Sully; “Are You Out of Your Mind”

  • FINALLY!!! An Uncharted game I can live WITHOUT!! thank god!!!

  • #4 asks some good questions. I want to know too. :)

  • I’m very disappointed, I was expecting better of you Bend Studio.

You stepped into the abyss making a card game and then calling it “Uncharted.”

    PAAAATHETIC.

  • We knew this was coming. You could see one of the cards in Golden Abyss because of a bug/glitch in the game. It sure took a long time to finish this card game though. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing.

    • It’s a good thing. We’ve spent over a year fine tuning Uncharted: Fight For Fortune, to make it as fun and balanced as we could.

  • Looks like a good relaxing game! =)

Can you give a estimate or exact number of cards that will be in the game? Just curious. =)

  • This looks really interesting and for $5 I’d give it a whirl. Something different, good to see.

  • I can’t believe the level of negativity concerning this game. There are many MANY people out there that love to play this type of game (card games). Given that Uncharted is more of a shooter, I don’t see the majority of the fanbase wanting a card game from it, but I personally think it’s pretty cool! Taking the lore of Uncharted, and making a card based strategy game, that’s awesome. Also the inter-weaving of the Golden Abyss game into this one, that’s the kind of “cross-play” I’m excited to see moving forward.

Don’t listen to the 50 FPS nay-Sayers on here, it’s a fun creative idea on an existing IP. Love the cross functionality, keep up the creative work.

    • @RenderMonk — thanks for the support!
Yes, all the negativity is really a downer. Even if I don’t like a certain type of game, I don’t go out of my way to bash them. As a gamer, I appreciate any developer who is willing to try something new, to give me some new way to enjoy a universe I enjoy spending time in.

  • This is pretty cool. At $5, I’ll definitely buy it on day one.

I’m guessing this isn’t related to Uncharted: The Board Game or anything, right?

    Also… I don’t want to “defeat Elena.” :(

  • I dont know what to say. I am not into card games, but depending on how difficult the trophies are, I will support this.

Please Bend studio make a Syphon Filter reboot for the VITA!!!!! and also make a sequel for Resistance Retribution and U:GA. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • Where’s my Uncharted Racing game?

  • I expected much better frm Sony Bend Studios. The Uncharted brand of games is sacred. This Card Game is an Epic Fail!!! Naughtydog pls step in and stop this foolishness!!!

    • Try the demo before you judge it. We made this game with full approval from the guys at Naughty Dog. Uncharted: Fight For Fortune stays true to the Uncharted universe in ways that will surprise you.

  • These r the type of games that shud be on PS Mobile

  • I’m okay with this. As long as the game is good card game. Hopefully my GA save file was backed up when I copied the thing to my computer. Bring real save file management ffs.

  • @46 Ryumoau I have that submitted as an idea on PS.Blog.Share vote if you would like to see it happen!

  • sounds like an interesting way to explore the story & relationships across the various UCs … I don’t think this will be like playing crazy eights or spider solitaire …. lots of people will be into the collection aspect of the cards & power ups … sounds like an rpg hybrid … $5 ? yup, I’m in ….

  • I see all the negative comments stopped once school started! (rolls eyes) Nobody is forcing anyone to buy this game. and while nobody asked for this type of uncharted game, remember we never asked for the main game to be created either. I for one will stand behind anything that spices up the Vita handheld. at $5 it’s a steal for me. This just goes to show how ungrateful the new gen gamer’s are. If it’s not a FPS then it isn’t worth making/buying/playing. Please go back to bed so others can get their game on in a whole new way. And yes, I am one of the biggest Uncharted fans out there and will be picking this up on day 1!!!

  • Looks like a nice little time-waster. I’ll get it for sure.

Also, I’d love to play Metal Gear AC!D and AC!D 2 on my Vita.

  • Oh but I don’t like launch day DLC. If this game were free, it’d be one thing. As it is it feels like you cut stuff out just to release at a “lower” price to fool the mind into thinking the full game is cheaper than it really is. Which is not cool.

Sidenote, I wonder if the haters of this hated Eye of Indra too. Or the comic books. This is just another way to promote the series.

    • Not the case at all. The initial release has cards from *three* IPs: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted: Eye of Indra, including a full single player campaign where you get to “fight” every character from those games. This is a lot of game play (something like 6-8 hours) for $5.

The two expansion packs contain *additional* single player campaign modes where you get to fight characters from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, as well as adding all those additional artifact, treasure, weapon and action cards into your deck.

  • The idea of this game existing makes me cringe. Never been a fan of Card Game, video games. But for $4.99 I would give this a try since it:

    1) Is connected to and interacts with a game I already own (Uncharted Golden Abyss). Possibly enhancing that experience.

    2) Includes Trophies (gotta love those trophies)!

    3) May lead to even more lnew and interesting casual games on Vita.

  • Now I officially regret buying a Vita. Man, this is a joke. Really. C’mon, this can’t be serious. Sony has pulled the final plug off.

  • I love card games, looks interesting.
    With trophies, oh yes!

  • @74: Well nice knowing ya. If one card game, amidst games like AC3 Liberation, Killzone Mercs, Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice, etc. Is the “final plug” then no one will miss you. Please leave and save the Internet from your drivel.

  • Oddly, this looks kind of fun. $4.99 is a perfectly acceptable price, and I like that it dovetails with your Golden Abyss game save. Count me in.

  • @68 alright i will. thanks. :)

  • Please, make Uncharted: Combat Ops!

  • Why on earth are people complaining about this? It sounds fun!
People are making it as if this game is ruining their lives! How silly, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it!
    I think it looks great!
Now if someone will bring the card games from FFVIII and IX over to Vita as stand alone experiences.

  • Uncharted is not being milked.

  • make the Vita update live already pleaseeeeeee

  • this is a joke, right? RIGHT!!!????

People! This is just a little $5 downloadable game. It will in no way hamper a sequel to Golden Abyss or make Uncharted any less viable as a series. This obviously didn’t take a year to produce, probably only a month or two. Quit your complaining.

that wont stop them from complaining or whining about it, this is what the comments section has devolved too:

1.legitimate complaints: store not working, games purchased etc
2.Whining… i brought a game on psn 3 months ago and now it’s 50% off waah waah waah

  • @ Elvick_

Pretty much every card game ever made has booster packs. I’m pretty sure that’s all the DLC is.

    @saintaqua

Triple Triad is my favourite card game ever. That would rock to have it on the Vita (with full online multiplayer).

    @everyone else

“What?! I never told the devs to make this for me!! The Vita is too powerful for cards!!! I despise rectangular shaped objects!!” Who cares? If you don’t want to play this it won’t affect you in any way. The level of outrage is absurd.

  • i for one love card games

here’s hoping duel of the planeswalkers 2013 is on vita as well as a new yu-gi-oh game

  • No one beats me when it comes to Uncharted lore…but this games isn’t for me unless its Free…$5.00 is cheap but for a card game is expensive.lol

  • It seems like DLC for The Golden Abyss. I was wondering if they could use any of the black market trade functions in future. Because it didn’t extend anything beyond completion of one Trophy. I hope this game add another reason to explore GA’s treasure hunting game.

  • i don’t know why so many are complaining about this… i think it looks great and actually breathes fresh air into a series that was beginning to feel stale… and this type of game is the perfect fit for the portable vita… ppl just want AAA games on the vita, but we need games like this to add to the already diverse library…

  • Not sure who the target audience is, I’m a huge Uncharted fan, but I’m not a fan of card games.

  • Do you half to have Uncharted:Golden Abyss to play this game ?

  • I have to say I have never had much interest in the uncharted series. I am however mildly interested in this.

  • With all the negativity being thrown around in the comments, I just wanted to say this looks really cool! I’ve never really been interested in digital card games, but with a universe like Uncharted and members from Sony Bend being involved, I’m definitely going to check this out.

  • Very cool. This looks like a lot of fun. Some turn based Uncharted with its great characters and locations sounds really interesting. Thanks for the great surprise, Sony Bend.

  • I would have rather Bend work on giving us a proper Uncharted MP experience. I’ll try this out since it’s cheap and I love Uncharted, but classic Uncharted MP should have been included in the Golden Abyss title from day 1 especially with a 49.99 price tag you guys gave it. I’m surprised they haven’t even tried to capitalize on the lack of online shooter MP.

  • Way to much negativity about this title. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone. Not interested it this game then move on to a game you do enjoy. Board and Card games have gained huge popularity over the last couple years and a card game makes perfect sense on the Vita. Obviously the market for this game won’t be the majority of the Uncharted fanbase, but their is a large fan base that loves card games.

  • Bragging about day-1 dlc is NOT good.

    • See my comment to 72 above. In this case it is a good thing because we’re adding additional single player campaign gameplay, not just more cards.

  • So we have an uncharted licence what do we do with it?sequel?no that’s too good for Vita buyers,oh I know a fail-card game that only desperate uncharted fans would buy, because its no like we need to sale some games or have reasons for people to buy our console. What genius came up with this?

  • I’m very disappointed, I was expecting better of you Bend Studio.

  • You know, I really like the idea of FFF, and I’ll be happy to play it as soon as I can, but the way you guys handled the announcement sucked. Seriously. You made people think that this mini-game was something, Bend Studio concentrated all it’s power on since Golden Abyss, instead of making a proper follow up to a great game.

You should have made it clear from the start, that it’s a small cool bonus of a game, that is made by another team from your design. And also, you chose an awful timing for anouncement. Now, when it turned out that there is no proper multiplayer in AC3: Liberation, and COD Declassified turned out to be a poor game with only 6 maps (that are cut down version of originals) – people are starting to fear if Vita can’t handle a proper multiplayer at all. And announcing this does not help at all. Now people will think that it’s impossible to make a proper multiplayer like in Uncharted 3, and so this is what they have to live with instead.

So yeah. Awesome idea, and I really hope that it will turn out to be a good card game. But the way you announced it… should have been much better.
