UNCHARTED: Fight For Fortune Coming to PS Vita in December

Hi everyone! I am excited to announce UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune, an original title coming to the PlayStation Store exclusively for PS Vita this December.

UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune is an action-adventure turn-based card game featuring the heroes and villains from the UNCHARTED universe. Take a look at the new trailer of the game below to give you an idea of how combat works.

UNCHARTED: Fight For Fortune Coming to PS Vita in December

So you’re probably wondering, how exactly does Fight For Fortune work? I’ll explain. The core gameplay in UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune involves creating a team of Faction cards featuring heroes, villains, and mercenaries from the UNCHARTED universe, then using that team to defeat your opponent while defending yourself from their attacks.

Each Faction card can be equipped with powerful Resource and valuable Fortune cards, which enhance their stats and give them special abilities. Once you’ve selected and equipped a card, it’s time to head into battle! During combat, attacks either reduce the health of opposing Faction cards or the health of your opponent. Defeating an opposing Faction card removes it from play, while reducing the health of your opponent to zero wins you the game.

The rich lore that surrounds the UNCHARTED universe gave us the opportunity to create UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss, complete with lush, artifact-filled environments. With over 300 treasures to be found, we wanted to find a way to allow our fans to delve deeper into the artifact collections and mysteries of the UNCHARTED universe.

UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune for PS Vita

Along with the release of UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune, we will also release a new patch for UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss that will power up the artifacts that you’ve collected for immediate use within Fight for Fortune. Using the artifacts found within Golden Abyss, you can go to battle with other players as well as AI opponents. The game can also be played independently of Golden Abyss, so owning the PS Vita title is not required.

Bend Studio Co-Director John Garvin and I have led the charge on UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune since the launch of Golden Abyss to take the mobile UNCHARTED experience even further. In addition to our close collaboration with Naughty Dog, we are also pleased to introduce One Loop Games, a team of talented industry veterans who worked closely with us to chart new ground into the UNCHARTED universe.

UNCHARTED: Fight For Fortune is launching December 4 for $4.99 on PS Vita. There will be much more to talk about as we quickly approach the launch date, including some great additional DLC on launch day, so keep your PS Vita handy and get ready to go fortune hunting!

  • BTW, Golden Abyss is my favorite Unch alongside U3 – thanks to interesting treasures, awesome story without magic, cool characters, and ability to tune your shots with gyros – something that should be a must for every action game on Vita by law – so… THANKS, guys! It was awesome that you made your own version of the game about Drake, instead of trying to copy style of Naughty Dog. I hope your next game will have as much exploration – or even more!

  • To all those being negative about having a CCG on the Vita, nobody is forcing you to buy it. Assassin’s Creed Recollection for iOS took an existing franchise and transformed it into a CCG and it’s actually surprisingly good. I don’t know if FFF will be just as good, but I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it without trying it.

  • Soooooo disappointed, I was expecting better of you Bend Studio.

  • Will there be characters and artifacts from The Fourth Labyrinth?

  • Personally, I think this looks awesome. Always nice to have different kinds of experiences in a universe I love. And at 5 bucks, it’s a steal.

  • $4.99 to expand upon one of the best series of the current generation? Not sure there’s any room to complain. Not to mention, card-based gameplay requires a level of skill that typical gameplay does not.

Looking forward to seeing what doors this opens in the future.

  • I’ve never witnessed such a display of self-righteous,rude whining,as if Bend studio should cowtow only to the wishes of shooter fans.
I think a card game will enrich and diversify the Uncharted universe, and I know I’m not alone in that conviction.
Don’t let the complainers set the tone.

  • What are the specifics on multiplayer gameplay? You’ll be able to have multiple matches going on at once, but will the cards you use be tied up to that one match, or is each match going to be a single entity that doesn’t take up any of your resources for a different one?

  • What in the hell man…just smh.

  • Haters, crybabies, and nerds. Who cares if you like it or don’t. You humans all think your opinion matters more than anyone. This is a creative endeavor. If you like it, buy it. If you don’t then don’t. 12-21-12. Wipe these unbearable disgraces from existence.

  • I love the Uncharted franchise and I’m sure a simple card game won’t ruin it’s legacy. If you guys say that you are true Uncharted fans than give Bend and Mr.Garvin’s work show for your support. I am looking forward to the card game and I want to see how many friends I can beat at it. :)

  • Wow, why is everybody so upset that this game is coming out:? I think it looks neat, gives me a reason to go back and collect more swag from UGA, and is priced right.

Keep up the good work guys!

  • Love a good CCG…. Love the Uncharted series…. Can’t wait to play this.

After the “card glitch” pics that went around when Golden Abyss came out, most people thought they were a fake. I’d always hoped there was some truth to them, though. Happy, happy.

  • the gameplay should have been Metal Gear AC!D

now that’s how you play a card game :P

  • This looks very interesting, ps3 version in the future?

  • Remember the good ol’ days when all the brats were only on XBL, and the PS3 was the console for the more “mature” gamers? What happened? Where’d all these whiny brats come from? Their dirty diapers are stinking up this place.

  • DLC huh? I fully expect the DLC to be priced fairly, that means if it should and can be free, than it’s released free, if it’s so much content that it can’t be free than you charge for it at a fair price for the content you’re getting

I’m so sick of everything being overpriced, greedy and anti-consumer in video games, I’m done purchasing content that has any of those type of practices.

  • @116 wow you still babbling? I get a kick reading every idiotic thing that you feel compelled to type on this blog site. :)

  • @Ryumoau

    You can’t be serious…

  • @sh1nato:

    I’m with you there.

If only that 12-21-12 stuff were true…

  • Not sure I understand all the complaints.

Looking forward to trying this offering. If you (Sony Bend) put half the effort in FFF as you’ve put in other games you’ve brought to market I believe I’ll continually be happy. Can’t remember the last time you guys made a bad game.
$4.99 and with a demo to try before I buy? See you on 12/04/12 !!!

  • Well, I’m not going to say this is the worst thing ever. I’m not going to say this is a disgrace to the Uncharted community, or blah blah blah like the rest of the people in here, because I have judged like that and turned out to be very wrong in the past. So, while I was a little turned off to see a card game, of all things, I will definitely try the demo before I pass judgment on the game itself.

However, I hate your idea of Day 1 DLC. Yes, hate. Three single-player campaigns in the game and two as DLC? (60% vanilla 40% DLC for fans of percentages) That’s terribly unbalanced. I’ll play the demo, sure, but I probably won’t pay for the game. I don’t want to support a studio who keeps it so unbalanced with the single-player.

tl;dr Give it a chance with the demo before you pass judgment, but if you want the full experience of the game, you’ll apparently be paying more than $5.

    tl;dr;tl;dr Try demo. Unbalanced DLC.

  • Thanks Bend,

I love card games like this. I loved MGS ACid 1 and 2 (bring them to vita sony/ Konami) and Magic the gatherning back in my high school days in the mid 90’s.

To all the whiners and complainers… if you don’t want it don’t buy it. How old are you people…you all act like ADHD kids enitiled speaches on how this should be canceled… really. It’s a $5. game and some of us here like stuff like this. It makes the treasures you get in golden abyss worth something too. Why does everything have to be “Action” with you young kids all the time….i just don’t get it. I love my strategy games…

I guess the attituede from the entitled COD junkies is why turn based rpgs and strategy games don’t come out on console anymore… such a shame.

    /rant

Again thanks bend for this. I am looking forward to it!

  • @116 – the ps3 price went down and now we are influx with whinny entiled cod junkies who couldn’t play a strategy thinking mans game to save their life. This is why turn based strategy is gone. This is why dragon age 2 got rid of tactics. These fools just want all twitch all the time. I am glad bend is releasing this. ANd for one I know its a side thing and its not there major project…. only someone without a brain would think otherwise.

  • @115 Im interested in a ps3 version too. Any vision on that? A standalone even perhaps?

  • “Yes, you can expect much BIGGER titles from Bend, but I’m not going to comment on that yet. :)”
Ah haaa~~~ Thanks for the clue :D.

Anyway, let’s give FFF a chance. Let it release and see how fun is it. PSV library still need to grow n some variation would be nice, different genre for different player and let everyone have PSV. Nice move, Sony.

  • This seems really interesting. I’m excited to try the demo but for $5, I’m sure I’ll buy it. I’m glad stuff like this can happen while they’re working on larger projects. A cool game that is small is still a cool game.

  • Well because I do love a good card game, I’ll give the demo a shot. Don’t now what the big stink is all about. If card games aren’t your thing you can simply just not buy it. If I do not like it I’ll say I do not like it and I will not purchase it.

I purchased my Vita mainly for the larger scale gaming experiences on a portable just like many of you folks who are crying about this game. Difference is that I also like having the option to grab small, cheap, and fun games as well. It’s all about having that variety for gamers of all kinds.

  • Oh, another question. If you guys are still updating Golden Abyss, maybe you’ll think about adding an ability to replay any chapter with any weapons, like in Uncharted 1-3? Without it 200 kills from GAU (and a couple of other achievements) turns into an insanely boring chore of replaying the same spot for dozens of times – something, that has no place in such an awesome game.

…Or wix that thing in any other way – just fix it if you’ll have a time, please!

  • John, this is an interesting project that caught my attention and I will definitely check out the demo. Keep up the great work on the current projects, looking forward to enjoying them in the near future. Cheers to the team.

  • Well never played a card game, but with that price point it makes it interesting indeed.

  • Sounds awesome! Love to see new things with Uncharted. Damn, if only I had PS Vita…

  • Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of support on here and say that this looks great!

Those of you acting as though this is the harbinger of the end times would have a point if they were releasing Uncharted: Drake’s Pretty Princess Dress-Up Adventure for $29.99 or something equally ridiculous…

But a 6-8 hour campaign that respects the series’ lore *and* interacts with U:GA *and* costs a very reasonable five dollars? Count me in! :D

  • @John: You can’t say sequels to Uncharted are “three IPs”. :/ It’s all one IP, from three different things involved with one singular IP. (two games, and one short animation)

And you can call it “additional” all you want. Doesn’t change the fact that Uncharted is currently at 4 games. So releasing Uncharted 2 and 3 as DLC, instead of with the game doesn’t feel as “additional”. Because those games aren’t “additional” to the series. They’re part of it. Have been.

It would have made more sense to include Uncharted 1, 2, 3 and Golden Abyss. Then have Eye of Indra, and maybe some comic related stuff be DLC. Since those things are additional to the series of Uncharted. Not the main titles in the series.

You can PR spin it all you want. Logic says otherwise.

  • yo dawg, resistance retribution 2. ’nuff said.

  • @ 133 (Sophrosync)

    I’ve already pre-ordered Uncharted: Drake’s Pretty Princess Dress-Up Adventure : Sparkles Edition,lol.

  • My first thought when I heard about Fight For Fortune was “WHAT? Metal Gear AC!D but in the Uncharted universe? Yes please!” Judging from the trailer, it’s not that at all. Luckily I am a big Magic the Gathering player so what FFF is something that will be installed on my Vita.

  • I tihnk this looks like a fantastic idea. I’m a very avid card gamer, and the fact that Golden Abyss is going to be interwoven into this sounds amazing. I hope in the future we can get more virtual card games, and I think AR card games for the Vita would be awesome. I really love the idea of playing my favorite card games with my friends over sees and states away. I certainly have problems of a bunch of my friends from far away playing MTG, but we can’t actually play together.
Chaotic Trading Card game was really cool, and I want something like that to work better and gain more support. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game, and we’ll certainly be covering it on Gamersyndrome.

  • I just love the “If it’s not for me it shouldn’t exist!” Mindset. This is an added game to an already great game library on the Vita. If you aren’t interested move on till you find something that you like. They’ve already said this was from a small team and didn’t keep another game from being made.

It’s like all the Wonderbook complaints. Grow up and realize that you aren’t the beginning and ending of everything. Even you spoiled brats had to start out as little kids at some point. I would have loved a setup like Wonderbook as a kid.

This game looks interesting to me. I used to play the DBZ card game with my kids, (got forced into it to keep all the rules straight) and had a lot of fun with them but they’ve gotten older now and moved on.
This will be a fun way to play a card game from a universe I know, and I won’t have to worry about my Great Dane bounding into the room and scattering the cards everywhere.
You have my $5 when it releases.

  • Like the looks of this title. Finally, the excuse I was looking for to go back and play through U:GA again and find all the collectibles. At $5 this is mine as soon as it hits (and I DL my PS+ U:GA digital copy). Maybe you guys can find a way to let us link U:FFF to our PS3 save files of U1-3 to power up our cards even more, just think of all that treasure. Hope there is a “Strange Relic” in this one too… love those Precursor Orbs

A side note to all the haters recently, look over to the right side of the site where it says “Comments Open to Everyone, But Don’t be a Jerk”. If you don’t like the looks of a title fine say that and be done with it, some of the language recently has just been very rude and mean. These people put a lot of time, work, and heart into their games and we’re all gamers here so shouldn’t we all be cordial and friendly to everyone.

  • This may not be my type of game, but these negative comments are way out of line. I know how it is to be unappreciated for the work you do. Most of the time it’s simple enough to shrug it off, but sometimes it does get frustrating, especially when you are trying to do good things.
You are in the greatest industry there is and I know the team that was involved with this project worked very hard on it and you all deserve to be respected for that.
So I just wanted to say good luck, congratulations on the new game and I’m sure the positive feedback will far exceed the negative once this game releases.

  • This looks really cool. I am a fan of card games though I no longer have excess money or time to play them. This is a day one buy for me. Thank you all for caring so much for this franchise that mean a lot to me. Keep up the good work.

  • Wow, first time posting here, but I’m seeing a LOT of negative reaction from various communities.
I don’t understand, guys! When you go to a mall and pass by some store with stuff you don’t like on the showcase, do you go in and complain to the clerk how much you don’t like the product?

    What you can do are;
    1. silently ponder why anyone would buy the thing
    2. simply ignore and walk away – life is short
    3. go crazy, and give it a try – maybe you’re missing out.

I know what I’m gonna do when this comes out. #3

besides, $4.99 is reasonable, and since my copy of U:GA was collecting dust anyway, I might just give it a second run, collecting and boosting my cards and stuff.

I support this, no matter how ridiculous some people may find. RESPECT

  • Okay, I like Uncharted, and I like card games, and at $5 I am quite willing to give this a try.

And to all those who don’t fit in the middle of this Venn diagram, then why do you even care? It’s not like development on this pushed back development on another, more standard Uncharted title. The smell of self-entitlement in the Uncharted community is starting to burn my nostrils.

In other news, Bend, I heartily recommend thinking about maybe putting out a stealth-based Uncharted game for Vita in which you play Young Drake.

  • what has made people so mean? i don’t care for rpg games but i don’t go making nasty comments on pages about them. i respect that there are different type of games to appeal to different people and what i don’t like is irrelevant to what makes lots of other people happy.
here is a little card game that adds to the uncharted experience. it appeals to me and many others. if it doesn’t appeal to you, simply don’t play it. easy as that.

  • Hi John, This is my first time to actually logging in and commenting on PS Blog because I’m just sick of people’s negativity towards this game.

First off, I understand what you’re trying to do for this beloved franchise. I’m not really a fan of card games, but this is certainly not a bad idea to expand the uncharted universe, since uncharted is filled by lots of interesting characters, treasures, and unique lores.

As a game artist myself, I was hoping for a more fleshed out digital card games experience. I wish I could see more interesting effects or animation rather than just watching 2 cards humping each other. Also, I’m hoping for an interesting card artwork so it doesn’t really looked like it’s straight cropped screenshot from all the previous titles. Just my 2 cents though.

But considering this is all for 5 bucks, I can’t expect anything that much and everything is remain to be seen. Good luck for Bend Studio for what you guys are doing right now, can’t wait to see what you guys will bring to us in the future.

To John Garvin, Hats off for responding to all the hates. For all haters? I guess you guys skipped this. http://imgur.com/yVXS5

  • Okay so make it work with Golden Abyss but no multiplayer DLC or anything…….great

  • I’m disappointed that with the extra $10 most people paid for GA,that this isn’t a free add-on. But $5 isn’t bad.Still sucks though.

  • I recently had uncharted for the vita but I had platnium the game and I got rid off the game and the little save bubble was just lying there not doin anything so I deleted it would i have lost all my save on uncharted and if I have would there be anyway to recover it

  • Yes it’s a card game but the game only came out at the starting of 2012 maybe earlier in some other countries and to be expecting a game like uncharted golden abyss this soon would be madness maybe we could expect some new levels or multiplayer but instead bend has thought about what people would want to do on the go at the end of the day we all have to thank bend for actually thinking of the vita and providing it with dlc titles sure it only a card game but it something and it has trophies so at least they have actually thought about the game, and if you heard what John Garvin he said that only a small part of the team was working on this title so we could expect a new uncharted title for next year, I played assassins creed liberation multiplayer and it sucked it was rushed and terrible which I hope hasn’t made the people’s opinion of this game rubbish , so thanks a lot assassins creed liberation
