With the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta launching TODAY, Tuesday, June 28, we want to make everyone has full details! We’ve compiled a handy little UPDATED list of Frequently Asked Questions below. If you’ve got any other questions, let us know in the comments and we’ll answer what we can!
When can I start playing?
Tuesday, June 28, for all inFAMOUS 2 and current PlayStation Plus members, who all get early access to the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta.
If you’re not an owner of inFAMOUS 2 or a current PlayStation Plus member, we’re opening the floodgates to the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta for EVERYONE on Tuesday, July 5.
What time EXACTLY can I start playing?
When the PlayStation Store updates today. While we can’t guarantee an exact time the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta will likely start propagating on the PSN Stores around the world at around 2:00 PM PDT (what time is that in my city?).
It may not be available right at that time, as there are a lot of things involved into making this happen, so please be patient if you don’t spot it immediately. Keep an eye out on the Naughty Dog Twitter and we’ll update as soon as we know it’s gone live.
When does the Beta end?
The UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta will end on Thursday, July 14.
What modes and maps are available?
Throughout the three weeks of the Beta, we’ll be rotating through a variety competitive and co-op gametypes, along with access to three different maps.

Wait, what’s the Hardcore gametype and why haven’t I heard about this yet?
We’re revealing a brand new competitive gametype with today’s update – one that has been specifically requested by many members in our community!
The Hardcore gametype is Team Deathmatch stripped down to the core basics – no Boosters, no Medal Kickbacks, and no Power Plays. Weapon Mods are still available – be sure to head to the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta discussion forum and let us know what you think about how Weapon Mods feel within this gametype, along with anything else that you want to tell us!

Can you tell me about any of the Boosters, Medal Kickbacks, and Weapon I can expect in the Beta?

Will Power Plays be active? What weapons will I have? What characters can I choose to play with? Will I be able to customize them? And Emblems?
Power Plays are active, so if you’re in a match that is decidedly lopsided, you’ll get to experience it. As far as weapons, we’ve got a good range of sidearms and long guns to use and unlock in the beta, such as the AK-47, G-MAL, Para – 9, M9 and more! You’ll only get to choose between a few characters, but you’ll have access to a limited set of customization options to personalize your character on both the Heroes and Villains team. You can also check out our Emblem editor and create your own custom emblems.
Can I play in Stereoscopic 3D and/or use split-screen?
YES! Yes, you can. But not at the same time.
Can I see my Facebook Friends list?
Yes, all of your Facebook Friends that have linked their Facebook account via their PS3 will appear on the Facebook Friends list in our multiplayer menu. Feel free to send them an invite to play the UNCHARTED 3 Beta!
Can I upload videos and photos to Facebook or YouTube?
No, that functionality is not available during the Beta.
Will my Beta progress or unlocks carry over to the final game?
No, what happens in the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta stays in the Beta, however we’ve lined up some killer rewards for the retail version of UNCHARTED 3 if you keep playing in the Beta:
- Download the UNCHARTED 3 Beta and receive the exclusive UNCHARTED 3 PSN Beta Tester Avatar!
- Complete 10 matches in every mode of Competitive Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 1!
- Complete 5 matches in every mode of Co-operative Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 2!
- Complete 4 Treasure Sets and receive the Treasure Hunter’s Starter Pack!
- Rank up to level 25 in the Beta and receive a handsome reward of in-game cash on day one!
Is there a level cap in the Beta?
Yes, it’s currently set to level 25.

We can’t stress this enough – please, please, PLEASE post in the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta forum with your thoughts, complaints and suggestions! Your forum feedback was critical in finalizing the UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer modes between Beta and the final retail version. We absolutely want your feedback this time around as well. You will help us make a better multiplayer game.
UPDATE: We’ve made a temporary change the to the gametypes – we’ve taken out Plunder to investigate an issue and replaced it with Free For All
Played 3 team Deathmatch. The overall controls felt nice, and the movement was smooth, and image quality look sweet. I had trouble in the beginning with 5 kick outs, and freezing.

Cant find a single match fix it!
The amount of depth you guys have added to Uncharted 3’s multiplayer is staggering. I’m 100% confident that I’m gonna be blown away. Finally, someone has stepped up to the plate and said, “Yes, we care just as much about multiplayer as our competitors!”

Looks like a TPS COD game with all these ridiculous powers and perks Way to go Naughty Dog, just overpower everything and take the road the COD games take. I’m sure that’s the way to success *cough*NOT*cough*.

Connected once started to change emblem FROZE. Now I can’t connect at all. Keeps Freezing up and rebooting my PS3 when it is trying to connect. AWESOME :( Looks like it could b fun> Just frustrated now.

It is a BETA people relax and give it some time they will fix the servers that is one of many points of a beta. Also a bit ridicules comparing UC3 to BF3 fanboys flocking to that one which again is no shock any more.
My self i already have money on both games and can’t wait for both, UC2 was my first Platinum can’t wait for UC3.

What’s up with this Game. Logged in and in middle of a game it freezes. I had to reboot 4 times. and now can’t even get back into the game. This sucks. I hope we get a patch and are allowed more time to play it.
You guys NEED to put custom soundtracks in the final game! It’s so quiet and boring, especially in Uncharted 2! Single player can stay without it but MP needs custom soundtracks.

Uhhh… Though it’s a beta, I don’t expect it to be this bad…
Played one co-op match but can’t even finish it. it gets very slow at several certain points… And freezes my PS3 a few times… now errors no more connections!
Getting annoyed, Naughty dog or someone please answer this. I am still stuck at the connecting screen with “error loading config files” you guys said the multiplayer connection was fixed, it is most certainly not, maybe for the other errors but this one is still popping up and iv tried everythings, restarting it, redownloading… it just wont work

It’s a REAL BETA guys and not a DEMO falsely disguised in a BETA like so many other devs do… the goal is to fix the bugs, take the feedback from the players etc.
Don’t forget that the BETA was supposed to be for PS+ members only at first, to stress the servers slowly but now, everyone have PS+ so they probably have like 5 to 50 TIMES more players than expected at first!
So, just be patients, I’m sure ND will improve in the 24 to 48 hours to come!
Spursfann, Battlefield 3 looks good. But it is EA you’re praising for making a great game, which they usually do to a certain extent. Considering what they did with Bad Company 2, I have absolutely no faith in them to make any decent competition for Uncharted 3 in terms of quality or content. Graphics do not make a game.

This need a ton of work, framerate maxing at like 20-25fps and dropping to like 5 randomly during gameplay, hope we see a patch soon.
