ModNation Monday: PS Vita, DLC Update and More

ModNation Mondays

SO MUCH DLC, SO LITTLE TIME?

We will offer you a few solutions.

…but first!

ModNation Racers PS Vita: Modding with your Fingertips

As most of you heard at the Sony Press Conference kicking off E3, we are proudly bringing the ModNation franchise to the much anticipated PlayStation Vita. It was a great opportunity to share with you all some of the things our team has in store. Take a look at this…

and secondly…

Progressive ModNation Racers Gran Prix Results

ModNation Monday: Pro

In early March we announced a contest to create the best ModNation Racers track using a free parts pack sponsored by Progressive Insurance. This parts pack followed on the heels of the free Flo mod and Progressive vehicle downloads.

Well, the entries are all in, and our judges have been playing the top levels…as chosen by the community… to determine our finalists. They’ve made a final decision based upon originality, quality/polish, brand awareness and creative use of the items. Our official Progressive ModNation Racers Gran Prix winners are:

Grand Prize: Progressive_Mega_Plex (its2l84that)
Runners-up: Pro_Flo_Ivory Park Plaza
New Name: Ivory Park Plaza Station
(IndustrialSavior)
Pro_Flo_FLOS_VTWIN (CIV_BOSS)
Pro_Flo_Skyline Scramble (ArgorokX)
Pro_Flo_Silver Ocean Park
New Name: Sliver Oceanside Heights
(IndustrialSavior)

“There were several tracks which used the Progressive items in clever ways, but most of them weren’t fun from a racing perspective,” said Mark Androvich, Manager of PlayStation Network Advertising and one of our judges. “And, on the other side, there were several tracks which were fun to drive, but made little use of the Progressive items. Mega Plex was a great mix of both—representing the best features of ModNation Racers as well as positively representing the Progressive brand.”

If you haven’t checked out these tracks for yourself, sign into ModNation Racers and search for the track name or author. We think you’ll be just as impressed as we were.

Congratulations to our winners, and thanks to everyone who entered!

and now…

NEW ModNation DLC: “Where Will I Find The Time?”

In light of the recent bevy of new MNR DLC we brought in an expert in time management to offer you some help. Here are a few of their suggestions to get your DLC on.

  1. You could call in sick to work (we don’t recommended)
  2. A weekend of soda and energy drinks?
  3. Take advantage of a 3 day weekend celebrating a holiday (July 4th in U.S.)
  4. Pray for a freak snowstorm ONLY in your neighborhood
  5. Ditch jury duty (not recommended)
  6. Graduate a semester late (it’s probably going to happen anyway)

Hmmmmmm…that’s the best they could give us? Consultants, go figure.

  • All cool!

No there are no plans to bundle. It’s a good idea though and I pass on ideas like this to the team. As far as what that team is… UFG and San Diego Studio work hand in hand on the PS3 ModNation Racers. Kind of how a movie studio works. The PSP and Vita versions are developed “in-house” at San Diego Studio.

  • I would totally buy DLC for this game (because there are some aweome things here), but I most definately will not do so because the PRICES!
A mini pack consisting of a few neat items for 7 DOLLARS?
And a regular pack is TEN DOLLARS? dang!

I would pay $5 for a regular pack and $3 for a mini pack.
    That sounds reasonable, right?

(and I thought RockBand songs were expensive)

  • Due to unexpected events i’ll be getting a free PS3 replacement this Thursday, hopefully i’ll have to buy a PSN card too….. ;)

  • hi mark i was wondering i if there is a chance that the ps vita new weapons come to the ps3 version even as a dlc i think that would be great.

    ps:
i love the freaking game so much, greetings from mexico wy not a mexican burrito mod?

    • Thats a good question. I haven’t started working on the ModNation Vita team yet so I don’t have any answers for questions. Check back in the blog regularly as more info rolls out.

A burrito Kart would be better! The Kart engine could make a fart noise!!! lol

      Mark

  • there are a couple of things i wanna say and i hope the comment thing is long enough..

first, are you guys working on fixing the track water level bug? where no matter how many times you try, the track saves with the water level lower than what you had it at, this ruined a bunch of my tracks and am holding off on publishing them.

second, will there EVER be a patch to allow us to overwrite (like LBP) published creations? is it even possible to patch or will it take a whole new game?

third, are you guys gonna patch old props that karts would normally get stuck on like getting stuck on the concrete blocks and patch it so bombs can be dropped on them too?

fourth, will you guys add a in-game “update” feature where the game could look through all your downloaded stuff and automatically delete and download the latest mod or track, etc. for use?

  • lastly.. will you guys let us back up creations on a SD card or something.. like LBP. i run the risk of my PS3 exploding and overheating cuz of all the DLC we got flooded with and also dont have anymore creation slots so i wanna move stuff over and be able to back them all up too.

i find it annoying that a game built around LBP’s create play and share mechanic didnt have most of this stuff since day 1. anyway.. if you can answers all of these questions that would be awesooOOoOome. long live the Mod Nation!

  • WoOW……Very Good. =D
    I love Mod Nation.

  • i’m nationality brazilian …
    I love is PSN.
    =D

  • lol

I am shocked that my question wasn’t answered.

Anyways… I love MNR, and I’d love to support the developers, my fellow Canadians… but $30 for the 3 maps is $15 too much.

Eventually it will be discounted. Hopefully that comes before the eventual MNR 2 release lol

  • Surprised this game is still running, I’m also surprised to see the blog back. I didn’t think you cared anymore about this game, despite still releasing DLC. I’ve moved on from this game though, but I always check to see what you guys have to say in the blog posts, and what DLC you release. Sadly nothing you release could bring me back to this game, I played it for way too long and it reminds me of high school all over again, with the modspot being the cafeteria. I would like to suggest two things for this game though. FIX THE PROBLEM WITH BOOSTERS figure out a way to stop it already, and when we block someone, have them disappear forever. In other games when you block someone you will never ever see them again. Which would be helpful for this game. Too many brats and jerks all around.

  • Awesome, I did i did

  • Just seen the European store update for this week…no need to buy a PSN card. :(

  • Nevermind, looks like i will be getting a PSN card tomorrow. Big City is on the store, its just not mentioned on the store update post on the E.U blog.

  • personally i dont think the prices are to bad atlall… about the same price as a large mcdonalds meal…

  • Finally modnation mondays is back!

Lots of new stuff is out! can believe it, i want almost everything lol

By the way, Mark, are there any videos about this new DLC?, I remember the snow theme and when the knight and dragon kart, and firefighter video, but anything about big city theme and pirates and old west.. you should make one if there isn’t one about those things

  • jjayman_is_cool1

I haved the demo and i like it this game is on my get list but now all i got to do is get the game and get the money

  • @7 It already has the traditional “x” controls, you just need to go to options and set the controls to 2.
