We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

i know we cant rush sony because i know how long it takes to fix a minor problem on one pc think about them fixing major problems on a worldwide network of ps3’s and psp’s but i really want to get back to playing killzone 3 online im so sick and tired of playing gran turismo 5 its not even cool

PSN cannot simply be turned back on by flipping a switch. It would probably take a day or two just to boot up the mainframes to operational tolerances. Then, they would have to reactivate all the links to the external internet. That also will take time. Just be patient. If they add new features, then aswome. If they do not, then they do not. Just be patient.

@ s1mpl3______j4ck now that’s a good idea, but it wouldn’t move fast enough. I think we’re looking at the middle of the week before it comes back online. Even then it’s not going to be flip the switch and everyone plays it’s going to be turned on in waves to not overload the new servers. JP might come on first followed by EU then US or whatever order they decide to go.

@jayson-b1 Steam is a program that lets you play/buy games on cpu. Owned by Valve. Use google. You obviously have a computer. Not being an ass but it’s easier to find out yourself without waiting for someone to tell you what it is.

Ok i supported Sony the first couple days. Im like ok they have problems let them fix it. But now they are just keeping quiet and not telling us anything new. I’m going to do the exact same thing as I’m doing now. In no particular order: Watching this blog (heh), playoff hockey, local co-op with my son, single player games (plenty I’ve not even been close to finishing due to the 32 games from PSN this year), go to the store, BBQ, enjoy the sunshine, took the bird outside for the first time this year, cleaned the house, …… I think you get the point.
I hardly ever played multiplayer anything on my PS3. I normally did that on the PC, but since this PC is a bit screwy, I don’t anymore. I enjoy the PS3 for the 2 other features I really bought it for. Blu-ray movies ($1 movie night on mondays) and single player disc based games (only have 1 platinum (dirt 2), yet at least 10 more disc to finish up….Fallout 3, Bioshock 1&2, Mini Ninjas, IL-Birds of Prey, Black Ops, LBP, Darksiders, Bayonetta, Borderlands….
Would I have got it without multiplayer access. No, free access was heavy in my decision. I can live for awhile without online access, but I fully expect FULL DISCLOSURE on just what is going on (a realistic ETA especially)
Will I get an XBox if PS3 losing online capability or has frequently, long-term issues. Yes.
Pretty sure they’ll have the psn back up sometime this week. Bought a 360 first but eventually got tired with BS that came with the console (RROD, monthly fees). Ever since I gotten my PS3 it felt like I was at peace (gaming wise). My only complaint i have about the ps3 is the lack of ps3 backwards compatibility. Anyway back to waiting.

Wow, some people…. Do you REALLY think Sony would just take down the PSN for the hell of it? Obviously they didn’t think it was secure enough to leave up.
I don’t think they really need to give us anything, maybe refund or extend some paid services like MMO games requiring subscriptions (DC Universe Online, FreeRealms). As for PS+ they could always add a month or just give out a bit more content on the next update, that’s really not a huge deal. And I do believe there are some other services that require PSN that people pay subscriptions for. But honestly, other than maybe extended subscriptions on those things for the duration the PSN was down, I don’t think they OWE us anything.
Hopefully, they manage to fix it and the hackers that are pissed off about the Geohot thing just get the [DELETED] over it and move on and let the PlayStation gamers play their games. Most games have online features which have been unusable due to this. I don’t blame Sony, I blame the people who screwed with PSN.
Hopefully we get this fixed as quickly as possible, I’m dying to update my trophy list with that Sonic 4 Gold that I worked a week to get, and not to mention, playing some LBP2 with my bestie!

Personally, I don’t think we need any compensation whatsoever, but I think it would be a good gesture for Sony to give us a really good sale….perhaps a STOREWIDE SAVINGS EVENT LIKE NO OTHER! :) Just my 2cents.

Yes, they were attacked, but this is not the first time. They should have already “decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security” then. I would love to hear why it wasn’t done before and only now we’re getting the additional security we should of had from the beginning.
