BUGS in 3.0 — please fix in 3.02 next week:
1) In XMB, when browsing submenus, everything but the active file fades out after a while, which makes it impossible to get an overview because the view disappears! Currently I can keep moving up and down over the same file to prevent the view from fading, but what kind of UI is that? What’s the fade-out good for anyway?? Please realise this is a big issue!
2) After watching DVD and returning to the XMB, the status bar with the clock contains garbage icons for a split second. It looks like a speack bubble icon and something else I can’t remember right now.
3) Even though I’ve selected “Classic” theme (meaning the original .. not the new original of course, but the old one .. you know what I mean) I see that star dust glittering now and then. It would be nice if you could take care of that no happening.
4) That status bar is HUGE. Please remove the border from the status bar to make it look lighter. Also, please consider showing the active state icons close next to each other instead of reserving the space for icons that are not there.
Ohh and SONY before I forget, as soon as you all can get to it, can you increase the amount of friends I can have say to at least 250, I’ve been maxed out since you increased it to 100. I’m in no rush i still have a paper and pencil that works fine, and unlike most people I read my instruction manuals for everything I buy. If I can that before MAG is released I would greatly appreciate it, if not, A.S.A.P will do for me. Thank You for all you do for me SONY EMPLOYEES

Since the firmware 3.00 came out, my ps3 (80 GB) can´t read any blu-ray discs and I´m not able to play any demo because then the screen always goes dark and the ps3 freezes. The firmware 3.01 did not change anything. I hope there will be a 3.02 soon!!

I’m pleased with the 3.00 and 3.01 updates overall. One thing that I would like to see addressed in a future update is the fact that when viewing the list of music, videos or games you have on your system, the other items in the list completely disappear from view. If the non selected items could simply gray out like on older firmware (or how the items in under the “Settings” part of the menu go), then this would make browsing files much easier. Thanks!
Will there be ANY updates where I can play my PS2 games on the new console? I have a boatload of PS2 games, but they are collecting dust now :(
I clicked the “whats new” off. And its still there? AND I hate large font size. I have an hdtv and it really doesnt make it shine like it used to look. I really dont like getting on here and complaining but I feel like thats kind of what these blogs are for. lol I like what you are doing, just hate the large font! Thanks Sony! i think that many xsuck fanboys complaining like they have problem with ps3
since i updated ps3 80 gigs/upgraded 500gigs to 3.00 no problems works fine . even the last firmware :)
could be the problem only for 60 gigs ps3’s
Good question about the Model being the problem. I have the Launch PS3 60gig/upgraded 500gig internal+180gig external and have had no problems with any update as to date.

To all the xbots on here if your console is so great why are you on ps blogs because i have no desire to go on xboxs website……..shouldnt you be on your xbox blogs finding out whats new for your system or playing xbox games……..oh i forgot your system hasnt progressed since its release and keeps failing with the red ring of death.

Weird. My PS3 is perfectly fine, but last night my friend called me complaining about getting the YLOD – i laughed at him and how unlucky he was.
Well now, about 5 minutes ago my other friend just called me and said the exact same thing.
the first guy (on firmware 3.00) was watching a DVD when his system shut itself off and locked up. When you try to boot it up again, you get a yellow light flash, and then a simple flashing red light that continuously flashes until you flick the power switch.
The second guy (on firmware 3.01) was playing RE5 when it just automatically happened – same thing happened to him. Quick yellow light flash, and then a nonstop flashing red light.
Both their PS3s cant even boot into the recovery menu. Sony, Seriously, you need to fix this. You better not still charge 150 dollars to replace the PS3 fat either or im pretty sure both of them will be VERY pissed.

How big is this update??? I’ve been downloading now for 1hr and I’m only 20% completed. It only took me 30mins to download and install the 3.0 update. It must be lagged or something.
Anyways things I’d like to see in the near future would be cross game chat(I know your servers can handle it), and please update the web browser on the ps3, its just so out of date and can no longer load sites I used to go to anymore do to their requirements.

Guys can you shut up already about 3.00. Yes they know, I know, everyone knows the complaints about some users, and they’re doing their best with the updates. This update is FOR UNCHARTED and possible other games that was glitching.
Repeating everything over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over…….etc again is extremely annoying. I feel bad for sony for putting up with your whiny mouths for something that was a kickass update.

well on the positive side i just beat drakes fortune . i found 52 treasures. i thought that end was cool and i cant wait to experience part 2 . thanks for the 3.01 update sony. otherwise i wouldnt have been able to play drakes fortune lol. the ps3 xmb has alot more work needed to catch up to the 360
Folklore still freezes on me i even tried the demo from the store same issue . I just get to see the start and freezes on the character select how lame
great for fixing what you broke… now keep on FIXING and actually give us more for our buck. At least for your long-time customers… we paid the price you know…

you guys would be great beta testers.. some of these “bugs” you guys are finding are purely subjective and based on personal taste… “can you change the color of this and that”
Gee it fixes Uncharted, that’s good they fixed it quickly but come on. What about addressing the HUGE number of complaints from your customers with the 3.0 update??? The terrible new friends list would be a solid start.
As far as people asking for changelogs. It’s always detailed here, although I don’t know where they get all the information…

good job. now they just need to add in new features like cross game chat, custom music, and PSN parties (psn parties and cross game chat are definitely on the top of my list, but custom music is cool.) you guys don’t have to add in these features all at once, just little by little. you already have the game launching, just on playstation home. people don’t want to fire up home just to get into a game with a friend. and it would be nice if more 3rd party games would use the game launch feature. the only games i know that it works with are resistance 2, warhawk, crash commando, and little big planet.

I’m having problems with the browser freezing constantly with the new 3.01! Any ideas?
I updated the 3.01 today, still does not fix my problem with all of my games not working (freezes after 10 minutes of play). I tried Madden, Batman, etc, and nothing works. I reformatted the HD over the weekend (hoping that would fix it) and I cannot even load the games back on the HD since it freezes on loading that too. Not that it matters since I cannot play anything.
The customer service person who was super nice told me I had to either wait it out or pay $150 to get service. My problem with this is that my PS3 worked perfect before 3.0, and now it is useless after the update. And now I have to pay $150 to get it fixed? Doesn’t make sense. I have the 80gig BC system. I saw others who had the same one have problems too. Very frustrated…

Know matter what I still feel ripped off by sony. I paid 500 buck for a forty gig machine and all i want from it is a working web browser, and the ability to organized and manage the file i have on it. 3.0 hasnt broke my ps3 but im sure somethings gonna screw up with it. Been my luck with sony since they first made a game system. I have owned 7 ps2’s. I hope my ps3 never breaks cause i wont replace it.

Hey thanks for the update and I hope other users have working Uncharted games. But my copy of Warhawk that I just bought recently freezes my ps3 at start. I don’t know if has anything to do with the 3.0 update (which I find pretty cool except the big fonts, sorry)but if you know anything about it could you help me and anyone else who have the same problem? Please!
