I hate the fact that when i load a game the brainwashing Playstation3 logo with the “duh nun nun” sound doesnt come on. I WANT IT BACK! NOW!…PLEASE!

Everytime i play CoD4 online it keeps saying ‘connection interuppted” and it started the day after i got 3.00 fw. its been like 5 or 6 days!

I’d just like to add I am having all sorts of issues with Infamous, that are happening in Uncharted.
How do I turn off this stupid ticker in 3.00? I always had the information bar disabled up to this point because I find it an annoyance, and now I’m -forced- the look at it? What the hell, Sony?
Stop keeping your customers in the dark Sony. I’m sure your fanboys are used to this kind of abuse but to new users like me…. Lets just say that my PC and 360 never looked so good.
since its within thirty days of purchase, if this isn’t resolved by Friday I will return the slim ps3. I bought the slim ps3 and also picked up uncharted, because uncharted 2 looked so good…now i cant even play the first one. Very disappointed. whats even worse they wont even comment on what they have found! progress? eta on fix? zero communication.
Is there any updates for a date on when these issues are going to be fixed? It’s unbelievable that they’d release a new console and new firmware at the same time without thoroughly testing it. What makes it even worse is that they’re taking their sweet time in fixing it. They better get their asses in gear because I’m sure alot customers who bought slims are returning them for new ones or just getting their money back. For the inconvenience they should offer everyone that bought a slim Uncharted. I really feel bad for the people that bought the Uncharted bundle.
I miss the PS3 logo before the game… And… i truly find pointless to put more PS store icons… I´m from Mexico and since Mexico´s PSN sucks (and i mean it!!) and you can´t buy videos, why in the world would i want another icon under the video category? update and make Mexico´s store decent! please!… i want the 2.8 FW!!… Sparks can stay, i like ´em!

Here’s a tip for the PS3 team: Test software before releasing it. Even cursory testing would have revealed the blatant problems with this release.
Disks can’t be read on my machine since update to 3.00. Games worked for a while but crashed and now can’t be played at all.
With over 900 comments on this thread, I don’t think the issue is “isolated”. Think about the thousands of people who think their system is broken. This issue should be front and center.
I have a 60GB launch model and haven’t had freezing issues, but I do notice the fan runs constantly at a higher RPM (and therefore louder) since 3.0, with no change in the ambient temperature.
I would also like the ability to turn off the ticker, since it seems like a waste of bandwidth and CPU cycles.
BTW, if you must have all these extra features running and increasing power consumption, how about implementing PS2 backward compatibility in the Slim model, and I can just buy one of those? :-)
This really ticks me off. Bought my firs playstation on Aug 26, the slim and bought Uncharted. Now I can not play it!!! If there is not an update soon looks like Best Buy will have an open box PS3 to sell.

When I insert a DVD / BluRay disc after the PS3 is on shouldn’t it play the disc?
On firmware 2.x this worked, now it doesn’t.
I have to wait for the menus to load and navigate through the menus to find the DVD and pick it and hit play. Much more frustrating than simply inserting the disc.
Normally I eject a disc to turn the PS3 on, and then insert a new disc assuming it will play. This no longer works.
Also like I said before, simply inserting a disc while it’s on doesn’t play the movie.
Before I could defeat auto-play ONLY if i were using the joystick, or moving the cursor around the menu while the disc was being recognized; that seemed to skip the auto-play.
Now it never auto-plays, unless, I think, the system is 100% off and I insert the disc.
Can we have the old behavior back?
My wife and I noticed this, and I have a coworker with a PS3 who’s also noticed this. I did not prompt him even for if he noticed it, he just told me one day, and I said, “Yeah I noticed the same thing.”

There’s a setting for Information Bar. Look for it under Settings, perhaps System Settings, you’ll find it.

i just bought Condemned 2 and when i try to update the verison like you do on most games it chills at the black screen with white text for about 10 secs and then my system restarts is this a problem with the 3.0 firmware or of someone knows how to fix this please let me know

I know it must be annoying to read about all those cosmetic changes you´ve done but why we
no option to change it that way we want it!? It was all fine in 2.80, slick, clean, well designed interface.
We need options to configure things as it was before.
PS3 is a gaming console, right?
But how comes that all the nice games crashes and froze up the whole system only after updating firmware? I want to play games cause thats what I paid for.
What´s with custom theme building, will be there a chance in the future to do our own dynamic themes, not only devs?

Im not sure about anyone else but i live in Australia and ever since i updates to ver 3.00 its nearly impossible to sign in and when i do get to sign in i get booted straight away? Anyone else having this problem?
I could see this being an intentional accident to make people buy another console so they don’t waste all of the money they already spent on games.
I would love to see a new game console from an entirely different company that would make Xbox and PS3 tremble. How about an “Apple iPad”.

I think a great Idea for a future FW update would be allowing Playstation Eye owners to be able to control the XMB with use of the camera like reaching for an icon and tapping it to select it or even voice commands like saying “Music” the XMB would go to the music category, then saying the artist “Metallica” the XMB would open up the Metallica folder then you say the song you want “play Master of Puppets” then the song starts playing and of course other controls while playing music “Pause”, “Next”, “Back”, “Stop”, “Fast Forward”, “Rewind”. Also to turn if the system you could say like ” Turn off System”
But of course every time you say a command maybe a confirmation window could pop up making sure you said the right command. It’s just an Idea I’ve had for a while maybe the FW creators can use it for a future update.
awesome update! can you add more playstation store icons next time! like maybe 10 more in just random places on the screen? and can you add EVEN MORE sparkles please??? and can you make it so that NO games play and the big gray friends list boxes are on screen the whole time?? and maybe add some more scrolling advertisements that show up out of nowhere?? that would be awesome!!!
Since updating to Version 3 i cannot browse my music/photos folders while a song is playing. Will this be fixed in the next update as this make navigation of folders almost impossible
Also i have issues playing games that wont boot after this update. Shame on Sony for not testing its own software. Please fix ASAP

Ever since the 3.0 update I haven’t been able to login to the PSN. It says “An error has occured. You have been signed out of PSN. (80031606). I have looked on other forums and have tried everything the articles talked about. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Here we are spoon feeding you EXACTLY what you need to do to make your system competitive… yes you dropped your prices, yes you have exclusives (so do the other guys) and yes you have a BR player in your gaming console… lets forget the pros and cons of those because truth be told I still use the 360 more for gaming (Hint buy one and see what the competition does better)
Now here is a COMPREHENSIVE list of items to be reverted/updated
1. Friends list: take off the gray boxes

1-1. On that same page you will notice that the prototype designer took off the annoying scrolling “News” (which is honestly only news thursday) which is incredibly distracting because while I’m doing something else and something pops in the top right corner I’m expecting a friend logging in or an incoming message (take that scrolling message off PLEASE just do it permanently NOBODY wants that)
3. Intro Screen: Black and glossy is slick and sexy while purple and sparkly is more childish and girly.
4. The chime: the little game jingle was a very nice touch signature of PS3, now, well you just get into the game (i liked it and already miss it) the 1/2 second lost actually builds on the suspense, trust me it really does! It’s much like the wife’s honey I’m home if you know what I mean. It’s the moment you tell yourself FINALLY IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN
2. Store icons: Take the new ones off they just make you look desperate for traffic. Give the classic shop location the functionality of the new ones in the way of the What’s New icon
*I will now refer to that guy’s prototype once more to point out the second page where he makes note on how to make the shop more appealing. Really since you update only on Thursdays most of this is basically useless anyways. The regulars make their rounds on Thursday in both Home and the store and that’s it until next week! We don’t want to hear more about it so just take it off the game and movie section
2-1. What’s NEW: You can keep that in the network section it’s OK it’s actually pretty neat and adds an extra little bit of functionality
5- Take example from the Xbox’s chat features and “party system” and in-game personal music and try to implement those in your system they will give you one less reason for me to prefer playing my games on the 360
DESIGN TIP: regarding the new style I’d have to say that roughly everything about the PS3 Slim wreaks CHEAPNESS. The old glossy finish of the hardware was sexy VS the NEW unpolished gray look. The slimmer look doesn’t give it any advantage really as long as it has the oval shape (the ps3 will still have to be on top of the pile or stand apart but now it looks like a toy unlike the FAT which looked like an artistic item amidst all the other machinery.
I hope others will stop whining and b’chin about it and simply support my advice to you and those of the creator of the website aforementioned…

Ever since the update my system has been freezing. Most recently last night while playing Uncharted. Nothing responds and I just have to pull the power…not exactly a good thing to do.
I just want to be able to use my native 80GB for more than an MP3 player again. Downloaded FW3.0, then it instantly stopped reading ANY disc that I try. I know bugs happen, and tweaks and patches are often needed for “Major” updates, but for the REAL functionality of a system “To play PS3 games” to be taken completely away from us, then tell us to send it in and PAY $150 to fix it? Come on guys, get it together. I have SOME patience, and although im not happy with the cosmetics from what little I have seen, this is getting a little out of hand and is honestly unacceptable. I can deal with looks being childish and girlish, and just downright cheesy, and the extra store icons, and everything else I will miss about the old interface, but I cant deal with you making my system unusable and then not wanting to fix it, or even acknowlege that it was the update so you can charge me $150. This isn’t isolated, and damage control means not lying or keeping all your users in the dark, and most importantly, fixing the mistakes in a timely manner. I bought my PS3 to play games, and thats the only thing it DOESN”T do. Sorry, just unhappy, and not seeing anything being done.
I just have one complaint and this dates back since the system became available. Why can’t you (Sony) disable the 5.1 LPCM flag when playing 2.0 music cd’s? I want to able to use my own Sound Fields on my stereo, but since the 5.1 flag is enabled I’m limited to 2speakers even though it say’s 5.1 is playing back. This same thing happens to games as well. It’ll say it’s playing back at 7.1 when more than 80% of the time it’s only 5.1 or even less. The only way to fix this problem is for me to go into Audio Settings and disable all audio channels above 2.0 It would be a lot easier if you just stopped enabling the 5.1 flag for everything that isn’t playing back at 5.1 Maybe you (Sony) was never aware of this problem.

Here’s another thought: Maybe to even be able to access the audio settings without having to quit the game or music cd. That would help out a bit. It doesn’t solve the problem, but it helps when I don’t know if the game is really a 7.1 game or not. That way while in game play or listening to a cd I can go into the audio settings and uncheck everything except for 2.0 LPCM Or a last idea maybe to even allow an option: Just like Audio Settings – Automatic (Selects All Compatible), Manual (I select compatible) which will allow me to check/uncheck instead of one at a time, but all of the 2.0, 5.1, 7.1 LPCM formats. I really hope you do read this. I know I’m just one person, but sometimes 1 can change the world.

I am one of the unlucky ones that bought Uncharted with my new PS3 slim (first time owner) and had no option but to rent/buy other games. I feel like I have been force fed food I don’t want to eat. Very expensive food that left a horrible taste in my mouth.

i play fifa 09 online updated and for the first 10 to 15 matches online play was excellent very fast . went to bed switched on ps3 next day .played online and it was like playing italia 90 on the megadrive/genesis very very bad sony please fix this or even revert back to v2.8
