I can’t believe that they aren’t offering a rollback and just making people wait without saying a word as to when these issues are going to be fixed. What a [DELETED] company Sony is running when they can’t even issue a temporary fix to make the PS3 playable. Think I’ll stick with my 360 and put $300 back in my pocket.
A great Idea for a future FW update would be allowing Playstation Eye owners to be able to control the XMB with use of the camera like reaching for an icon and tapping it to select it or even voice commands like saying “Music” the XMB would go to the music category, then saying the artist “Metallica” the XMB would open up the Metallica folder then you say the song you want “play Master of Puppets” then the song starts playing and of course other controls while playing music “Pause”, “Next”, “Back”, “Stop”, “Fast Forward”, “Rewind”. Also to turn if the system you could say like ” Turn off System”
But of course every time you say a command maybe a confirmation window could pop up making sure you said the right command. It’s just an Idea I’ve had for a while maybe the FW creators can use it for a future update.
Please take away the grey background boxes on the user list, or at least make the colour configurable.
Please stop up-sampling music to the highest PCM output supported on the system, and play it as it is — up-converting my MP3s to 176kHz is insane and also happens to disable Prologic processing on my receiver so I’ve had to tell the PS3 my receiver doesn’t support that output mode to get my music back to normal.
Make the ticker optional!
Take away the store under Video for users who can’t access it — I’m tired of it not being available in Canada and I don’t need buttons that don’t work.

I have to return my Uncharted rental which the firmware update broke this weekend. Let’s call it an even $9. Should I expect my refund to come from Sony or Naughty Dog? When can I expect to see the funds in my account?
So uhhhh Sony, hey over here, it’s your customers remember? The people who give you your jobs because we buy your products. How about a little update on when to expect something? How about a little update on the progress of things that broke many of your customers systems? Here’s my story. Downloaded and installed 3.0 to the fullest. Played COD4. It froze while playing online. Loss of sound, then a few minutes later black screen. Tried playing MLB 2009 The Show. It froze at the loading screen. Tried again the next day and it froze during RTTS. Each time a game froze I had to turn the PS3 off and back on with the switch on the back. Holding the reset button would not work. It is not just Uncharted that is effected, like many articles and sites are claiming. This was happening with every game I own. (LBP, MLB 09, COD4, COD WAW, etc.)Took a couple of days off. Tried playing COD4 again. Guess what? 80010514 dic read error. Now my PS will not play any disc based games or movies. All of my downloaded games and movies work just fine, disc based games…nope. So right now I have a PS3 that can’t do “everything” like the marketing campaign states. Only a couple of things. I can see the pretty sparkles. And I can play demos. Wow I’m bored.
Not impressed Sony. Give us an update. Your taking so long with this and have known about it for several days now. At least give us a date for when you will update the firmware to sort this damn problem.

Well that right there is a load of bull. Does Sony even listen or much less care what their consumers have to say or how they feel about updates to the system they paid hard earned cash for? 963 comments and not even one damn reply from an admin. That right there tells you Sony does not give two sh**s about you all they care about is your money. A week later people are still complaining about the update, how about some kind of response other than your BS here Sony!!!!
Once I saw that there was a problem with the update, I decided not to update. It’s been 10 days since the launch of 3.0 and still no fix. I wonder whats going on there. Maybe everyone is playing their 360’s or something?

Obviously they’re having trouble fixing the freezing issues and probably are no closer to fixing them then when they started. Whatever they have done with this firmware it’s serious because it shouldn’t have taken anywhere near this long to fix. How many more days or weeks is anybodys guess.

I’m Disappointed with this update. Those grey boxes seems very anoying and big. And i have a HDTV .. when i start the game it does’t show the ” playstation 3 ” thing. And we’re all waiting for new avatars. And still yet we can’t listen music during gameplay !!.They should make another update fixing all people’s problems, and edite the friends names.. eliminate those boxes and replace it for something more original.
Sony should definitely test out new updates before forcing us to do it.

Resistance 2 seems to have been affected by the update. I played the game before the 3.00 update and it worked fine. Now, after the update, it won’t load the level Chicago.
So far Resistance 1, MLB 09, Little Big Planet play fine on the slim. Haven’t had any problems with any demos or downloadble games. Just like everyone else Uncharted is freezing up. On the level where your in the Uboat, after you find the dead captain when I go through the port hole with the torpedo the screen goes black and just stays there. Have tried turning the power on/off 10 times and every time it does the exact same thing.

I have also updated to version 3.00. I can’t play rockband 2 because it tries to update to version 1.1 of rockband 2 and then my ps3 freezes, and reboots. Playing DVDs blurays or games all freeze. I can play network games but when i access the XMB my ps3 freezes again. I have a 60gb model and it worked great 3 or 4 days ago prior to the firmware update. MY PS3 was PERFECT. Now i can only access movies from my thumbdrive or my Computer via media server. Also the only game that works is UFC which i can play and have no problems with until i access the XMB. FIX THIS I have a $600 piece of black crap on my desk that I have over 20 games for and want to play! not to mention Bluray movies i’d like to watch. You would think your programmer’s would be working OVERTIME to fix this problem that hundreds if not thousands of PS3 owners are experiencing.

I’m very disappointed with Sony.
I used to buy a lot of Sony products, but no so much anymore. I don’t like their TV’s, stereos, car audio, or computers.
The one product I thought was safe was “Playstation”.
I loved my original Playstation, was overjoyed by my PS2, and was starting to really enjoy my PS3. I guess I still can enjoy my PS3 – I didn’t install the update.
But how long can I go without updating? I’m sure games will be released requiring newer versions of the firmware. I’ll hold out as long as I can, so long as the firmware is vile and poisons the Playstation experience.
Too bad the Playstation firmware isn’t open-source. I don’t think Sony has what it takes to take it to the next level.
Please, Sony, I just want to be able to play my new games (or, for that matter, my old one). Can’t we have the option to rollback while we wait for a fix? Please?

Since the update to 3.0 I have not been able to play either Modern Warfare, or World at War online in multiplayer format. The last proper firmware update was the last one that allowed ‘real’ in-game xmb. I do not want videos on my hard drive and my games to pause when i access the so called ‘in game xmb’. Bring back the feature that allows video to continue playing when i use the so called ‘in game xmb’.

The Uncharted situation is outrageous; they are continuing to sell software to the public that does not work on the advertised platform, and are not providing consumers with a reasonable explanation or solution. If this continues, I will be complaining to under the UK Sale Of Goods Act; The console, nor the Uncharted software, is neither a)fit for purpose, b)of satisfactory quailty, nor c)match the description. How long is too long? 2 weeks to update a broken firmware is absolutly ridiculous. People are right when they say that they’re continuing to sell a product that doesn’t work. What’s really sad is that I know if I take my slim back and get a new one it’s going to ask me to update to 3.0. They’re still trying to say this is an isolated issue which is complete [DELETED].

Bought a PS3 for the very first time last week, and the only game I bought (Uncharted) ALWAYS freezes up during a chapter 6 cutscene. Youve had more than a week to fix this…..COME ON.
