And our question of the week…
The good folks at IGN (Greg Miller in particular) seem to be inordinately preoccupied with the fact that I have exactly zero Platinum Trophies to my name. They’re constantly giving me advice on which games have the most attainable prize: Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, the upcoming Wolverine, and… um… Hannah Montana: The Movie.
Now while I’d love to have a Platinum under my belt, I’m still a respectable Level 8. So my question to you is:

For the record, Yoon also gives me stick about my Platinum goose egg. Last time I checked, I believe he had *11* of them. Crazy!

In most games, if you just want to do everything the game offers (challenges, multiple difficulties, things to upgrades or find, etc.) then you’ll get around 75% of the trophies. You would only be missing trophies such as killing one of each enemies with a melee in KZ2 or things like that. But those trophies are good challenges by themselves sometimes.

i think i have 6 platinum hmmm resident evil, LBP, Uncharted, Sonic collection, Fallout 3 and prince of persia
I was going to get killzone 2 one but you have to play way too much time online to get the 1% trophy
I dont have a platinum either. I love trophies and everything but there’s always a couple trophies in every game that require a boatload of playing.. i just dont have the time and it doesnt even sound fun (referring to killing machine 10k kills on R2)…
if i had a PS Eye id get the Burnout paradise one… that is actually a pretty easy plat
i could get R2 easily but dindt feel like it im trying to get kz2 plat!

Dont play a wuss game to get a platinum, its much cooler to not have a plat than a platinum hannah montana game.

I can’t wait until you guys implement a portable ID that displays our PSN level and/or our trophy distributions. When that day comes I’ll finally through my portable ID up on other forum sites aside from the playstation forums.

I hate the whole idea behind trophies. It’s pointless. it makes me do things that are unnatural to gameplay. Besides most of the games I play (Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4, SC4) for example, luckily don’t have this lame gimmick.

Again the one sided polls. How about, trophies suck.
They ruin gaming. Now thats all people want. To top it off, games on PSN like Noby Boy, should of had up to 20 trophies that weren’t BS, but some real challeges. Everyone just makes them lazy simple stuff, its lame. Now once people have 100% they don’t brother to play some of the games anymore.
Yet again thank you Mircosoft, for crappy trophies and the rip off of DLC. Guess we should all be happy Sony just followed the crowd.
RE5 is mine but it was uber easy. Not a big trophy fiend.
@SpiritThief, kind of agree with you, therefore I request for a not display trophy nontification option on the XMB. Not agree with you about some real challenges. If you’re getting only bronze for the 45 hours you need to spend in a game, its really useless.
Most DLC I don’t download myself unless it brings real value to the game. I’ve quit playing Pain because that game is getting DLC its just ridiculous, especially for the prices they ask. Plus I find it a total waste of money to download costumes for a game which I’ve finished long time ago.
You can really notice I’m Dutch, we’re more careful when it comes to our money :=P
It’s quite hard to achieve that elusive platinum trophy. You just can’t resist starting out a new game.
You think 11 is a lot? I know of someone who has 18 platinums! That’s right, 18 platinums! Here’s proof:

Hey proffessor Playstation I can’t believe I have the same trophy level as you. I’m half way out of my level with 2 platinum trophies. I gotta get that other 50 percent so that I can get to level 9 before you. :P
I do not see the big deal about platinum trophies so what you did the most impossible tasks in the game to get that trophies. I’ll still powne you on kill zone on line.
wow, lvl 8, im lvl 6 with 234 trophies, they are not hard to get:, Burnout, Sonic Ultimate Genesis, Uncharted are easy to get platinums for, but no you should look up Killerxx (this dudes amazing) 2,175 trophies and hes lvl 17. :D wow, thanks for setting up this, im a trophy hunter and hopefully be lvl 7 with 390 trophies by the end of May.

Only game I’m close to Platinuming is Resistance 2, but I still need 7001 kills.
Jeff, level 8 here – 0 platinums (410+ trophies). Haha no platinum in sight either.
Wohoo got my first Platinum today! Prince of Persia =) Did a speed run for the last two trophies (Be gentle with Her and Speed Demon), finished the game in around 6 hours :3
Wow.. im gonna have to check that out after this flick is done. Im gonna go ahead and guess im at 0 though as i will take note of trophies to get but dont place great emphasis on getting ones that dont sound fun pursuing just to get a platinum. Its cool they reward the guys who grind but i dont think it matters too much nobody has ever dissed me for not having a platinum trophy. I have a buttload of trophies for a buttload of games, thats good enough for me. At least for now haha
Why don’t you give me an answer through PSN when I ask about that notificiation option Jeff? Feels like I’m asking something stupid while its just a little, easy thing. Its the same thing with notification with messages… I have on “not display” as well as I find it annoying when 1 person goes on- / off- on- / offline like 10 times in a row, when I’m in the middle of a game and something in the game is shown in the exact same corner as where all the messages appear.

Platinum trophs..HA HA..DO they even exist..? Moreover Im curious what game you got it on…and what you had to do to get it.? Was prob Everyday Shooter (just being adventurous enough to waste money on this title = PLAT TROPHY)or Linger in Shadows (just being adventurous enough to waste money on this title = PLAT TROPHY. BTW I still want my money back from being “lured in” and “fooled” into buying these from the “What is this game” copy.
@ least if they were disc based I could hock them off on Ebay or sell to EB or Gamestop…
