As many of you know, we released PS3 firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn’t display after the update was installed. We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly.
We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience. Now we’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone online and racking up those trophies!
For us it was a $5.99 Add on price.

really mine was that too but it updated fine hmm did you change your hard drive? Only difference is mine has a linux partition on it maybe that saved me lol

Boy, I must have been really lucky…downloaded
2.40 about 2 secs after midnight…about 2 mins after…started SSHD and got 4.0.
Then went directly to the Online store in the game and purchased it around 12:05-12:10…whew.
I bet they will put it out Thursday because it will be another weak update with mostly videos and no good demos in the store
If you have SSHD, it’s a really good add on.
I’d recommend the purchase.
yea i have it and the solo addon just no team. I really want PixelJunk Eden to come out and a patch for PixelJunk monsters trophies.
Still gotta try PixelJunk..haven’t really had time.
But Team pack is really nice…I like the ability to customize my ship now…Split screen makes the purchase worth it I think.
Yust do me a favour and TEST TEST TEST something before you publish a new FW.
yea regular co-op is annoying having to keep with in certain distances and how it can mess up your team mate.

IMPORTANT! Hi I been reading the blog for years but today I finally decide to join my PS3 died two weeks ago and by that I mean it has the disc reading error so no matter what format it won’t play anything so today I backed up my info not through the utility and I didn’t backup game utility data but I did a FULL FORMAT and everything worked I was one of the ones to downlaod 2.40 with no problem but I had this problem before I have the 60GB model I’ve called Sony and got a ticket number but thanks forum I get to keep $150 bucks to spend on a game and also everything actually runs better now than before I’ve hadn’t had a connection problem with my PS3 nor any other problems this was the only one and wait I take that back it froze once since I’ve had it but anyway the XMB is smoother and it seems like everything overall is just faster if anyone wants to add me my PSN ID: PYTHON101
Yah, I think before spending the money, I would try the reformat too…replace the HDD and see if it works.
If not, then go the second route.
It’s actually described quite well how to replace the HDD as Sony lets us decide if we want to upgrade to more GB.
Yeah I know I’ve already done this just thought I post it again if someone miss it and your on my friends list GGCAN I wanted to let everybody know that this is a great thing to do an your PS3 will actually work much better overall after you d this is all I meant and I have a 200GB HDD just to lazy to put it in..lol

and the xmb does not work in playstation store and browser…
this firmware is sucks…

Zeo, as far as I know (may be wrong) but SSHD you have to go to the in game menu…Options, Audio. Custom and then pick your custom HDD music.
Pain and High Vel Bowling you just press the Select button on the controller to access in game HDD music.

Just have had SSHD since Jan08 and got all the Add ons.
I love that game and play it a lot compared to most others.
saunderman….ok not sure for Pain as I don’t have that one.
I do have High vel Bowling and that works pressing Select on controller as I’ve tried that and it works.
But you know for SSHD and HVB…they had those features way before 2.40 came out and not a lot of people knew.
Kind of like Easter eggs in the DVDs.

network connections are still very unstable, making online play very problematic. still no word back since my blog post #821.
while i had no problems playing games during 2.4 and now 2.41, this is hardly a flawless firmware.
forget about @1076…saunderman answered the Pain question on in game music.
Apparently all 3 are different.
May be why the guy in the video said a concept for now…they may still be thinking how to do this with all games.

I have 3 different media centers and all ran fine before 2.40, after.
As well, with 2.41 they’re still running fine.

For Network settings, usually go to Settings, Network Settings and select Settings and Connection Status List…
Mine’s currently telling me I’m at 100 % and gives much other detail.
Would be nice to be able to get that with XMB, you can’t apparently now, but who knows with future updates.

Check your port settings on your router also. The PS3 might of changed IPs on a DHCP router and not associating it with the PS3s IP anymore.

Please fix the charge level appearing in the middle of the date/time. It is annoying. And what’s with not having up to date GMT hours??? Caracas has been -4:30 since late LAST YEAR, so I would’ve expected this the first update after this change from -4:00. Not a major problem, since I can change it manually, but it still needs to be fixed!
Also, on the blog, as there have been more and more posts with +1000 comments the layout should be adjusted so the number isn’t overlapping with part of the username.

Just want to say, I love the new update. It’s fantastic.
Although I really believe that adding some more features to the already awesome trophy system would be great, for example, how about add more rewards for leveling up? Maybe like access to more profile customization options as you gain more levels, or maybe titles that can be seen by our friends. Have contests that coincide with the release of new games give out prizes like PSN games or points.
Just a few of my thoughts.
my ps3 was working fine with 2.40 now that i have 2.41 i cant get out of my chat room without having to turn off my ps3 you guy need to fix this!!!
BlackSheepBoy The higher your PSN level the more stuff that will be unlocked to you in HOME when it comes out or thats how they were making it sound like it would work.
Yeah I’m looking forward to more games with trophies in the future. I wish the in-game music was universal, probably make my mgs4 experience better. At least they attempted to get around the patent, effort is always good to see.
The MGS4 score isn’t bad either anyway but yea would be nice if they did it.
Bit off topic…but I want to see and get Motorstorm 2 when it’s out.

No doubt that the music is good but id like to play songs from MGS3 while im playing or something that might fit the CS or a certain boss fight. I still havent found all the iPod songs im sure of it. Im on my 3rd time attempting to beat it on big boss hard.
Wait because trophies aren’t unlocked when they patch the game so the people that got the big boss emblem will have to again to unlock the trophy. I already went through it on hard then stopped replaying until it is patched for trophies.
Great firmware release, i’ve been enjoying 2.40 since last week when it was originally released and have had no problems. 2.41 just seems to make the experience a little smoother. Now get these developers to give us patches for trophies and in game custom soundtracks for all new games and for old games like Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, MGS4. Thank God Warhawk and Uncharted are already confirmed.
