Hi, everyone. As many of you know, we released PS3 firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn’t display after the update was installed. We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly.
We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience. Now we’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone online and racking up those trophies!

I just signed up at that site today and only have 5 trophies so far, but I guess it takes a bit (like maybe overnight processing), before the update at this site has your trophy list ?
I’ll check again tomorrow as I’m sure there’s just a little update time required for all to be ok.

problems anyone??? I have problems with the new patch kicking my mic off during GTA online play. Does anyone else have this problem??? Is there a fix to this???

Just letting everyone know…I had Split screen on SSHD and today went to the Options again and it’s no longer there.
Most likely Sony has to look into a problem, not sure.
The ship customization is still there…

When exactly when we be able to play our own music behind a video game? not even mgs4 is updated enough.
No game i have is able to play the hdd music. its a bit dissapointing…

-3- NEW issues with firmware 2.40/2.41:
1.] When returning to the PS3 XMB from a Linux session via the “BOOT-GAME-OS” command the Bluetooth controller (either SIXAXIS or DS3) will not reconnect without completely powering off/on the console.
This powering cycle is the only way to consistently re-establish the Bluetooth handshake.
2.] When downloading certain .mp4 files from the CriterionGames.com site to the PS3 HDD the saved file icon is represented as the MUSIC note even though after the file download is completed the file is actually placed in the VIDEO section of the XMB.

3.] I do not auto sign-in to my primary PS3 account, but when I do sign-in my Avatar/Icon does not initially load up while the others PS3 users icons do.

A week ago you guys were all posting going “OMG release 2.40 already” “where is 2.40″ “you guys suck give me 2.40″ and now you are sitting here [DELETED] that they released it TOO EARLY!!! shut up!!! sony was being hounded from every corner to release it from you guys CONSTANTLY [DELETED]…I love 2.40 its just odd that certain game features were messed up…i am sure with time they will fix it.

Any hope that games that are not compatible with the in game music feature now (My personal favorite GTA4) will release updates to be compatible with the in game XMB Music feature ?
my ps3 died in oct. 07. less than 2 months after i bought it. i whined called up the 3 year warranty i bought for 50 bucks, they said i’d have to wait for sony’s warranty to die, now that my 60gb came back fine but a little scratched, it has a different serial # and my3 year warranty isn’t registered to it. thanks a [DELETED] lot sony
Not sure if this may solve problems with Bluetooth devices or mics, but I have the Jabra headset for Warhawk (not that I’ve played the game enough to not get killed in 2 seconds).
I found that I had to re-register the headset and after that was done, everything worked great.
I have sound coming in and going out.
Just a suggestion to some who may be having problems.
Can we hope for peoples’ trophies on their profile page–along with the trophies on our own profile page–to load a bit faster with a future update?
Just seems like it takes kinda long to load a maximum of 10 images. Same with the PS Store.
Are there a “Overall-Ranking” of Trophies? Would be cool to mess with others ( I’ve got 12 Trophies right now ^^)

You can register there and see how everyone is doing on their trophies, plus a bunch of news for us.
GGCAN the website you have to sign in and check off the trophies you have it’s kind of on the honor system just why lie when ppl can look at your psn account trophies and see you didn’t earn them.
is anyone having trouble with battlefield: bad company locking up online and/or offline?

Yah, did sign in and checked, but still shows me at 0…so I’m thinking it may take a bit to update that site…but I can’t say for sure.
I know I tried it about 10 mins ago and it wouldn’t let me get the sign in panel.
Then about 5 mins ago it did.
Same on the PS3…was comparing scores and got a Server busy msg…so I’m sure the servers are being hit big time right now as everyone is wanting to try these things out.
I found one time trying to add someone (effeff that was you) that it gave me an error.
So I just shut the system off and on again and all was fine.
I think it’s going to be a bit before everything gets stabalized, but at least it’s all happening.
and before anyone asks, no the disk is not scratched or fingerprinted or damaged in any way. This only started the moment i downloaded FW 2.41

_NightWolf_ there are a few games that support Hard Drive music already they just haven’t been patched so you can goto the XBM and play a file its in the game options under audio. Superstardust HD plays my MP3s on the HD. I think high velocity bowling has it already and so does PAIN. If everyone posting about this stuff used google I wouldn’t have to answer a question again lol
SkullMonkey do you smoke around the PS3 it could just be coincidence that it happened after you patched. Your Blu-Ray drive might just be dirty. I smoke I’m also luckily a electronics tech so I know how to take apart stuff. I had to open mine a few weeks ago and clean the lens with alcohol to get smoke deposits off of it. If you don’t smoke around it or are not in a dusty room I would call sony and turn in my warranty right now.
You bet…I used to smoke 5 years ago for many years until I quit.

Actually you might be the guy to ask being you work for the company that helped make the PS3s CPU there is so much documentation out there where would be the best place to start? I’ve read a lot but I need more of a text book approach instead of data sheet type stuff.

Honestly, I’d only recently discovered the IBM was involved as I read I think the same article about IBM and the PS3.
IBM has so much documentation and so many websites, you could spend most of your life I think just reading it all.

The ingame music is a feature and the firmware WON’T fix that.
Each game developer has to create an update for their game(s) for in game music and trophies apparently…however the one video about in game music stated it was only a concept.
Goto accessory option you can change you mic stuff thats what they were talking about. It’s not a firmware update to get in game music for all games yes all the games have to be patched by the devlopers for it just like trophy support.

It cannot be tricky to play sound while a game is running – do you have a pc?

Not sure this will fix your problem, but maybe try shutting off the PS3 and then restarting and signing in again.
I had a few problems, but when I rebooted…all worked fine after the reboot.

Hate to say this…but only 3 games currently
have in game music.
The others won’t do anything until updated.
