Hi, everyone. As many of you know, we released PS3 firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn’t display after the update was installed. We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly.
We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience. Now we’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone online and racking up those trophies!
o ya about the trophie none of the multiple games i have beaten show up for any tropies including MGS4 y not im definitly not going to replay them

for the next update can you add a ps3 calculator and my 2.40 update worked fine.
if they added a calculator, given the latest updates… i bet it would perform math wrong, and they’d have to release another firmware to fix that lol

the update is great but it would be better if we could play background music on all of our games and trophies for all of them as well. I know this update was so playstation could catch up with the 360s achievements but why only these new features for games that arent even out yet? release a new update so we can customize are our soundtracks to any ps3 game rack up mad trophies , putting the xbox 360 down for the count
I wish there were some trophies to “rack up.” Uncharted and Warhawk can’t come soon enough. I really wish Ratchet & Clank was getting patched too.
The bacwards comapbiltiy needs to be improved so that the PS3 can paly Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3.
I was looking forward to playing through R&C again with trophies. Too bad.

Why cant i turn off the damn clock, or at least move it? Its ugly, annoying, and in a stupid spot. It ruins all my backgrounds/themes. and WHERE IS IN-GAME MUSIC?DO YOU THINK ITS FUNNY?HA HA THEY CAN SEE IT NOW BUT NOT PLAY IT.VERY COLD.and the ingame XMB runs like crap. 2.4/2.41=FAIL

Anyone over at Sony considering the option of allowing more than one PSN ID to be logged on one machine. I know Online multiplayer is the thing this generation but some of us do share 1 console with other people. PS3 allows multiple accounts to be created on the console so we should be able to log in if we are a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th player joining a multiplayer game and not just share the same PSN ID or be called player 2, 3, 4. Same thing if a friend comes over and does not want to unhook and drag thier console over. Should be allowed to recover thier PSN ID on my console and play together locally with each of our ID’s This will allow each player to build thier rank and achieve thier own trohies in game at the same time. The other box allows this and PS3 is far superior to it so we should have this feature for the PSN. This would be great in a future firmware. Thanks.

Man, alot of people complain over the update. I think it’s a good start for Sony. The whole in-game music thing… eh, not really working good with people. The in-game messenger is nice to have and the trophy system seems good in a couple months. I got my ps3 with the MGS4 bundle and so far i love my system. Xbox is a nice system but Ps3 got me with mgs4 which is my favorite game series. Like i said before, the fw 2.4 is a good start but things like in-game voice messaging and cross game invites probably would please alot of people.

Konami stuff is wack other than kojima’s MGS4. I first played mgs2 when I was 10. Now i love the series. MGO is nice (only online game i have lol) They surprised me with the new aiming system. Made mgo good and if you’ve played the first mgo, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
so how do get specifics on the trophies i’ve earned? like how do i look at the trophies in detail? (as in the name of the trophy or what i did to earn the trophy)
all i can do is look at how many trophies i have and which type of trophies they are but i dont know how i earned them. (obviously stardust but i want the name of the trophies)
who here has ingame music that works?

Please Pull the update again (v2.41) I Want to get back online but I REFUSE to download the update. There’s no way I’ll do it until I see more positive results, or someone can pinpoint which systems will react badly… (model numbers perhaps?)

No one has the actual in-game music from the xmb but as far as i know, SSHD has in-game music through its options menu. Developers have to put it in the game or release a patch for it to go on. Basically, it’s Sony’s way of getting around Microsoft’s patent they have for Xbox 360’s music sync for games.

Konami is wack, other than Metal Gear? Castlevania? Silent Hill? Ninja Turtles? Countless huge arcade games? Yea you are young, and MGS2 definitely not a bad game, but was easily the worst in the series.

I didn’t have problems with 2.40 but it’s nice to hear that you guys patched it for the ones that did.
My bad i left out castlevania ive beaten SotN and all the handheld versions.Silent hill really isnt me nor was ninja turtles. Konami actually isnt too bad. I remember playing anamaniacs when i was very young on sega. Btw im 16. Also ive never really looked at konami cause they didnt really release anything that had ads. People didnt like MGS2 probably because of raiden. But son of liberty was nice but to me the best was 3, The beginning of big boss, snake eater. So other than castlevania and Mgs i dont see alot that appeals to me.

Wait, I just found something that is ridiculous. I am using 2.36, and don’t really want to update my firmware until they have a stable version, but now, it won’t let me sign in to PLAYSTATION network unless I go update. Does anyone have this problem? This is really not cool, I should not have to update to bad firmware in order to continue regular operation…

fw 2.41 should be safe and the online traffic on downloading the software should’ve died down. You should be cool.

– Move the battery Icon NEXT TO, or UNDERNEATH the clock when you press the PS button (most annoying thing ever)
– Improve Media Server connectivity
– Improve Internet Browser
– Allow Full (or as close to as possible) XMB features during In-Game XMB Access
– Make Custom Soundtrack Patch MANDATORY (for upcoming titles)
– Make Trophies MANDATORY (For upcoming titles)
– Pay off exclusivity for big-name games.
– Release EVEN MORE developer kits that are easier to work with
– add an Instant Messenger
– Improve the look of the “Profile Card” ***and speed up the time it takes to view trophies/level, it takes years to load***
– Improve backwards compatibility
– Continue to release consistent updates, and please make sure to CHECK 4 BUGS
– Add Movie/TV service to the PS Store
– Improve overall messaging system
– Add In-Game Voice Chat
– Allow controller to charge when system is turned off
– Improve online capabilities (DL speeds, etc.)
– Load XMB Icons faster
– Power Save mode for downloading (updates, PS Store)
– Online Version/Direct connection to PS3 “Profile Card” (much like 360’s)
– Allow users to change PSN name (not too frequently)
– Improve “Now Playing” System, example; when watching a movie “Now Watching Donnie Darko”
– More space for message attachments.
ok this is crap, my fw 2.40 worked great and i just downloaded 2.41 cause u have to, and now i cant sign in to the PS network. this is just bull! hurry up and fix this.
ok disregard the last msg cause i can now sign in to the network as long as i put in a game first and go to play online, for some reason its the only way i can sign in.
So as of 10 minutes ago. Something is wrong i cant sign in to the PSN on my ps3.
Sony, please add into the firmware so it will automatically shut down the controller after a few minutes of not being used. Please. Also please let us turn off the clock if we want as now there’s no option to do that. We also want to backup over the lan via the built in backup utility, so please add that into the firmware too. Please also add way more audio and video codecs as hardly anything is compatible.
Please have updated www browser with java and flash support and make the www browser way more compatible with the web as it hardly is ocmpatible with anytyhing but the most basic now.
Also please have updated help file for the current firmware online available when you release a new firmware. Now it’s 2.30 which is older of course. Please include a what’s new in firmware info.
I have downloaded the2.41 update but how come when I want to put some music it says ” music content cannot be played during the use of this game” And I have like 20 games . It doesn’t work on any game.I need a solution quickly or I’ll hang myself when I listen to motorstorm’s music again.
Ok 2.40 had no problems for me but now with 2.41 I cannot stream anything from the i-Mac using a legit version of EyeConnect to the ps3 whether it be music or movies. Even stuff I was streaming does not work anymore. Any ideas anyone? I get a following error:

Anyone found after upgrading from 2.4 to 2.41 their BD Remote has stopped working? It was working 5mins ago and after the upgrade it’s stopped. I’ve done the obvious and changed the batteries, tried to re-register it but nothing…
Oh good update other than that, its laid the ground work for some excellent updates in the future… let the trophy addiction begin!
I love Sony! I have everything Sony! My pc is sony Vaio, my hdtv 1080p is sony bravia 40in, my camcorder, my dvd player, my laptop, my surround sound and my PS3. But why is my ps3 [DELETED]? cause sony has become one of those companies that make good products but have bad continued support. Meaning, they make a product and then they are pretty much finished with it. Sony should be called phony! This is B.S.! Give us what we want! Basically, all the features that are on the 360. Hate to say it but, playing online and just basically playing on the 360 kills the ps3 by leaps and bounds! Like i said, I love sony but, this is ridiculous! I want my in-game/x-game invites, in-game/x-game voice chat, video chat and instant messaging and everything else that is missing from this possibly great system…

I sent sony an email yesterday asking about the ingame music, so far no reply but hopefully we will get an answer.

ARRRRRGH! IN-GAME MUSIC IS NEAR TO IMPOSSIBLE THE WAY YOU HAVE IT SET UP HARDWARE-WISE!!! You need to make it so I can plug in an MP3 Player and mix volumes!! ALSO, Add a screen capture feature! If you use this Idea without my permission, I will SUE YOU! People could share screen captures and make them WALLPAPER! ALSO, put in some simple voice recognition. I’m trying to remain calm. PEACE!
