As soon as I downloaded 2.40 I started SSHD and the patch loaded automatically.
Then inside the game (I think it’s in the option or online section) you can purchase an add on that wasn’t their before.
It gives you Split screen, you can change your ship’s look and a few other things.
Think you’ll appreciate it when it is available.
Can’t spell too well lately.
It was a great week (for me). Though Qore is kind of light on content- making the next edition a bit more ‘full’ would be nice.

Nice copy and paste job from the other thread. I’m pretty sure nobody cares how long it takes for Sony to “slog” though computer code. They had ample time to get this firmware right in the first place and they failed to do so. Most people aren’t asking for a fixed time and date on when it will be back up, they would just like to be updated on the status of what the hell is going on. There were millions of people waiting on this update, Sony has decided to remove it and disappear for the weekend without any notice at all as to what is going on. They have handled this situation very poorly and they deserve the flack they are receiving from the public.
Damn it, I forgot to mention one HUGE ANNOYANCE I have with 2.4 update… guys seriously… Why did you guys make “delete all” function as SHIFT+BACKSPACE!?!?!? WHY!? I gotten like 2 paragraph of text deleted several times because I hold Shift and press Backspace because I was planning of correcting a cap letter.
PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ!! CHANGE IT TO CTRL+BACKSPACE or SHIFT+DEL! PLZ!!!!!

Jeff, what is the current status of PSN cards? An update would be good, in fact some acknowledgement of this issue would be good since Sony seem to ignore it altogether. This is another failure on the part of Sony who really seem to be fumbling the ball this generation. Plenty of people are asking about them. You have a whole bunch of people who want to give Sony money but can’t because they don’t have a credit card or don’t live in a region with a local PS store or bought an imported game whose DLC is region locked. PSN card update please.

It ain’t over yet. PS3 should have at least 5 years to go, by that time WII is long forgotten and collecting dust in every household, including mine. M$ might come up with a new console which is probably somewhat better than the PS3, but by that time the PS3 has managed to drop in price that fast… that M$ could never release a console with a tag matching with the PS3. We know by now that “price”, which has the overhand in like a million discussions, is one of the most essential parts when buying a console. Plus the game library sure will have been a lot more expanded than it shows right now, as devs will gain more faith in the PS3. Nintendo got ass kicked many times and look where it is now…. Sometimes you need to go through hard times, to make things easier in the end. So, have faith.
I have faith, I just don’t want Sony to go through those hard times you mentioned. Although it looks like it happening already!

FIX in 2.40
– PS2 game freeze at [game]boot
– Bluetooth headset output crash
– Game crash when turning off bluetooth headset while in-game
– move battery indicator left or down
DO THIS SOME DAY (During our lifetimes):
– remove “Manage Accounts” from PSN Menu because you can do it from the triangle menu in contact list. Change PSN menu to “Playstation Store” with [subdirectories] (if you will) “Browse Store” and “View Cart”. Also, unpurchased cart item should save upon cart exit. Then on a PS3 with no user accounts (newly purchased system) in the create user “wizard” add the ability to make a PSN accnt. (if no internet connection exists then users can select the option to create PSN accnt. from the triangle menu with active user selected in “Users” menu.)
– make “Shutdown” a button IN the menu rather than the subdirectory OF a menu (if you get what I mean :S)
– change SHIFT+BACKSPACE shortcut to CTRL+DEL or something
– remove chatroom completely, initiate chat inside the “friends” menu, this idea seems more logical when the cross game chat comes out, and since it’s only temporary until the release of home… (right?)
– hide/toggle clock to prevent burn-in (excellent idea)
– video playlists
– XMB during BD playback (this is for versatility, messaging and movies simultaneously is useful, I do it for AVIs and I wanna do it FOR BD disks as well)
– In-Game XMB for PS2/PS1 Titles
– now that system sounds are introduced, a system sounds volume control which could also control the start-up sound
– volume control overlay for games (much like the one accessible during video playback), or a simple volume control menu located within the black/white “Hold PS Button” menu.
– access message list via button under gamercard
– a method for disabling in-game XMB (people prefer the B/W “hold PS Button” menu for it’s simple interface and quickness to load)
– hard disk/usb/media card defragger
– integrate custom avatars (what about gravatar?)
– PS2 Game Backward Compatibility across all PS3 variants

Perhaps an auto-update trophy list function so everybody can view available games currently supporting trophies at the same time. (if not already implemented, tough to tell when one game is listed)..
also there was a comment about SSHD being the only game to support custom soundtracks… PAIN does too
also, I’d like to view my internet (wireless) settings from in-game.
Sony when can we expect some more player avatars? Making ones for playstation favourites like pixel junk monsters, super stardust, grand theft auto and metal gear solid would make a lot of gamers happy. Are we getting more avatars any time soon?

That’s kinda sad.. This whole 2.40 fiasco is looking really bad for Sony. I don’t care if the ETA on 2.40 repairs is another week – JUST TELL US ALREADY.
In Movie XMB for Blu-Ray?! Gimmie a break people, how stupid. How on a minute while I check this message from the President. No message is important enough it couldn’t wait for a movie.
You people act like Sony owes us everything.
By the way, they have a right to celebrate the holiday like the rest of us. If you really want 2.4, go download it from a site.

i took out my dvd and placed another one in finished that and put in the dvd i took out and its at the same spot it was left at. Pretty cool feature.
In Movie XMB is not a stupid idea. I’d like to be able to answer my messages while I watch a movie. Granted if I’m watching a movie and just want to watch a movie then I’ll log out. Not a problem, right? However if I’m watching an episode of say Battlestar Galactica that I’ve seen 1000 times and wouldn’t mind being interrupted for a game of RB6V2 with a few friends then why not? Why isolate me from the network when I clearly don’t want to be.
You people maybe happy with sitting comfortable watching your films without interruption and I can understand this, but I don’t need this to be an absolute. So be a little more sensitive to this necessity please, no one here is exactly like you.
Also Nitrowolf2 is right, PS3 does resume play so you can continue watching where you left off on DVD’s and Blurays. Also IGX does not force me to exit games to answer messages while playing them. I’ve sent messages from SSHD, Tekken DR, and MGS4 not once has it made me leave the game. Movies won’t be any different.
i cant belive sony havent release psn cards yet, it been almost two years and they cant release psn cards to major stores. The wii has them so sony should have them by now too. Sony is losing their touch or their just plain lazy. Sony should be ashmed of themselves

I disagree, price had 0% influence on my ps3 purchase.. and I rented to own and paid almost 650 total for the system. simply because i wanted the system, for reasons beyond price.. that information might be important for a critic to compile however in most cases the PS3 is an enthusiast console
If I’m watching a movie, I would love to be able to pause and go to imdb.com or yahoo to figure out who or what about the movie or what ever (I do that all the time on my puter) or maybe im a friend about the movie or anything….so its not pointless as some people have mentioned, I would probably use it at least once or twice a movie. but I guess if you have people over to watch a movie, you may want to have a block mode (do not bother me) so ims are not getting in the way
