  • @patrick

    1. More PSP colors for the US than what’s been showed?
    2. Early next week means Monday or Tuesday right?
    3. Firmware that we’ll be excited about or stuff that Sony thinks would be cool?
    4. Demos can we get status on the delay with Demos? Heavenly Sword and Lair and Stranglehold sound like they are ready, what reason could you have to not release it?

  • Any confirmed demo for the next week?

  • any news about custom soundtracks in the
    upcoming firmware update ?

    thanks

  • This week will be sooo awesome if we get in-game XMB and maybe a demo :P

  • @Patrick Seybold

Can someone please tell someone to fix the following bug in the XMB:

Everytime I transfer music to my PSP from my PS3, the album artwork on the MP3 on my PS3 HDD is wiped!

It’s so annoying – especially when you’ve got 30Gb of music on there, nearly all with album artwork!

    :)

  • @aaquib

don’t get to worked up bro. Don’t want to get let down if it doesn’t happen.

  • @aaquib

i thing in-game XMB will be in firmware 2.00

    not 1.9

    but i hope im wrong

  • Patrick I want to know something thats been bothering me since E3.
Reeves talks about something big for PS3 and PSP at Leipzig.
I’m worried that there may be great features for the PSP that will only be compatible with the new PSP and not the current one.
One Sony announced the new slimmer PSP, I was dissapointed that the TV output would only be for this new model. And now at Sony’s Premiere in Japan, they announce the TV tuner but this is for the new PSP model.
Sony said the PSP will keep envolving, so why is Sony leaving us current PSP owners out of this evolution?
I think its wrong for Sony to bring out features thats not for all models, this isn’t a PSP 2, a next-gen PSP but just a slimmer model of the same hardware. Surely the PSP could receive a firmware update to allow these features to be compatible with the current model?

I would appreciate if you gave a honest stratght foward answer and not a BS one like what I read or watch from inteviews where the interviewer asked a question and they never get the question answered. If you don’t really know then please just say so, no Bull.

Thankyou very much Patrick and I and many others will appreciate your time ti answer these questions that I’m sure many will like to know the answers to as well.

  • * FULL In-Game XMB SONY *!!!

If you need help with this I can help you, Im a computer engineer.

  • P.S.

Why isn’t everything announced for playstation platforms a world-wide thing? Why is some features and models colours only in set regions. I understand if a new feature would only work in some regions but announcing colours should be for every region, not just Japan. Where’s the camera and GPS? Reeves said something about the PSP seeing a new exclusive service in Europe. It shouldn’t be like that, everyone around the world should be able to have the same services and features.

Thats enough complaining for one day. I still have more on the PSN.

  • Kratos_ate_Snake

Well I can understand the colors. The US market is very different than japan. Japan likes pretty shiny colors so they give it to them. Here in America, we will probably pick black over anything anyways. You say you want different colors because you don’t have them, but if day one we had all those colors to choose from, then we will probably pick black. Just look at the ipod and the DS lite, black sells like hot cakes.

    Thats just my opinion.

  • My wife and some of my co-workers really want a pink PSP but they refuse to import one. What reason could SCEA have to not announce all the same colors as the other countries, there is a female game audience that would probably jump in if given some femine colors.

Sony release pink, so that my wife can get one!

  • What’s wrong with eBay Kenji ??! :)

  • @Patrick

will it be an big update with lots of features?

  • update 1.9 :

    – you can listen to your own music while playing

    – in-game XMB

    – RSS

    i wish

  • The Xbox 360 is a multimedia device with UNIVERSAL controls. The great thing about UNIVERSAL controls is always having them at your fingertips, not hoping that a game in the future will have them. Instead of the lame garbage that we have been getting, with only certain games supporting In-Game XMB, make it universal, so that every single game/media we use, we can also use the in-game XMB. And don’t seperate it either, keep it all together. Have an XMB “Slide” come out of the left side of the screen (similar to the Xbox guide, who cares if you copied, you’ve already copied many things) that only shows one category of the XMB (aka Music is the only one displayed, then press right and now Video is the only one displayed), have everything in that XMB slide, custom soundtrack, in-game chat (with multiple channels, a la Xbox 360…), messaging, even video, say you want to store a video walkthrough for a game, keep video on there too. Make it a “Picture-in-Picture” type thing, that would be a great innovation. Make listening to voices universal, select if you want it just for your mic, both mic and speakers, or just off. That pretty much wraps it up. Add in the wallpapers, and integrate the PS Store into the XMB, the poor PS Store is just an HTML page, integrate it a la Xbox Live Marketplace. Add the damn demos (make the developers port over the demos that the 360 gets!) and all the other stuff we have been wanting since launch, and you are set my friend.

I love my PS3, but it isn’t living to it’s fullest. That reminds me, this isn’t how the UK ads are portraying as “This is Living”. Get those updates in, and get some more software exclusivity! Can’t wait for the MGS4, GT5, R&CF, Uncharted, HS, Lair (btw, where are those two demos? just freaking add them to the store, and get the darkness in there too!).

  • @AL2X

    WOW

if we see all this in the upcoming updates

i’ll be haaaaaaaappy and never regret buing a ps3

  • EDIT: BUYING A PS3

    SORRY ABOUT THAT

  • EDIT: IF WE SEE ALL OF THESE IN THE UPCOMING UPDATES

    SORRY AGAIN

    LOL

  • Kratos_ate_Snake

I agree with you AI2x, all those little things matter so mush to us gamers, and is hard knowing that we do not have them, and the 360 does.

Like you were saying, they do need to adopt some standards. voice chat should be standard in all games like in Live. I was so pissed knowing that FEAR had no voice chat on the PS3…WTF… so many bad ports.

Oh well… only time will tell if they will get their stuff together. I believe in you sony, just don’t make us wait a year for features that should of been there from day one.

  • When can i get into the HOME BETA trial? And what will be in the “firmware announcement” next week?

  • Anyone want to give us a step by step way of getting our gravatar working I would really be thankful might even send ya 5 bucks on pay pal or something lol

  • i cant wait for the knew firmware update info

  • i would really want to see a new feature, its about loading your ps3 controller. instead of seeing a battery with bars i would like to see some % instead, and i want a message like the one when a friend comes online that tells you that the battery in the controller is full loaded. i really hate the bars. its so hard to know how much its left in the controller.

  • What are the chances of the playstation 3 be able to support AVI and/or Divx Files?

  • @77

PS3 supports some types of AVI, but the supported formats can and should be extended over time.

  • PS3 firmware update early next week « Warcadia

[…] PlayStation.Blog confirmed that PS3 firmware will be getting the 1.90 revision in a few days. PS3Fanboy speculates for Tuesday, and i’d say that’s Tuesday tops since Wednesday resides in a rundown trailer just outside of early-part-of-the-week territory. […]

  • will resistance and other online games get the function of having a guest play with you(like on xbox)online?

  • Hopefull it’s a good firmware update.

  • @aaquib

Which kind of AVIs are you talking about? Uncompressed avis?

  • FULL IN-GAME XMB ACCESS!!

  • Kratos_ate_Snake

    Cool, the complaints stopped…

Now to wait till next week… Can they deliver?

  • any chance of an Video RSS feature? Id would love to be able to download video podcasts on my ps3

  • in game xmb would be a dream come true but i doubt it will be this update if ever :(

  • ya that would be cool to have video RSS . i found this cool new site its called amiestreet.com and i think sony should do something like this for the PSN or sing star. its a site were you download music from a lot of underground bands , but the songs start free and over time as the number of people who download a song goes up in price.

  • the price goes up as well**

  • Playstatic » PS3 firmware 1.90 coming soon?

[…] 2007 at 23:26 Patrick Seybold Senior PR Manager for SCEE commented on the official Playstation blog about the upcoming 1.90 firmware. His exact words were “Early next week, we’ll have […]

  • I wish sony would make several different types of controllers and let the gamers decide. since everyone who plays games has different ergonmics. I was one of the few excited about the boomarang controller it looked nice and big so i could wrap my mits around it. Also it would have doubled well as a steerling wheel for driving or flying.

example…I love the playstation controller but I have large hands and if the controller was longer and larger It would be so much better. I need a larger controller.

  • cool i want xmb access

  • The thing that I´m most expecting is the anti aliasing for the PS2 games, I have seen Final Fantasy XII on the PC with antialiasing 16x and it looks just like a PS3 game.
And if I´m not mistaken its a feature that they said it would be avalable coming the summer.
This info used to be on wikipedia but its not there anymore…

  • If I was the president of SCEA I would ban all games that run at less than 60fps or less than 1080p. I would not cheat my consumers. I don’t want a kia’s engine on my bentley. EA you suck. We should all migrate to 2K games.

  • Does Sony still make F1 games?

The lack of answers about this makes me think no.

I emailed SCEE local about my PS3 problem (see 3) and thanks for your help Blizzard182!
