Another look at the latest entry in Polyphony Digital’s acclaimed racing series

GT Fans! With E3 2016 just around the corner, we thought we’d give the community a first look at some of the new features in Gran Turismo Sport, including Livery Editor, Social Features, LIVE Broadcast and Photo Scapes modes.

Gran Turismo’s legacy of innovation is rekindled once again with the next iteration of Polyphony Digital‘s eSports-focused racing simulator. More than 15 years ago Kazunori Yamauchi and his team introduced console gamers to real-world physics, and more recently, Gran Turismo has trailblazed new paths across the gaming and automotive industries with programs such as Vision Gran Turismo and GT Academy. Building on GT Academy’s success, GT Sport empowers gamers of all skill levels to compete in high-stakes racing with FIA-certified championships.

If you haven’t had a chance to see what the future of motorsport holds, check out the first Gran Turismo FIA Championship Pre-Season Test that was held in London last month.

32 of the world’s fastest GT players competed head-to-head in two championships – Nations Cup and Manufacturers Fan Cup. After a series of intense battles across the newly introduced Tokyo Expressway and the ever-popular Nürburgring Nordschleife, Takuya Takahashi of Japan walked away with top honors in the Nations Cup, while Carlos Martinez (Spain) and Yusuke Tomibayashi (Japan) was crowned victor of the Manufacturers Fan Cup.

The game’s newest trailer shows off GT Sport’s most compelling features and provides an exhilarating look at the future of motorsport – enjoy!

  • That reminds me, still gotta pre order this baby. Not a big race gamer but it really has been too long for me. Motorstorm Apocalypse and GT5 are the only ones that really enticed me the last generations. Never got around to playing GT6 much with the generation switches although I always meant to.. I really loved 5, its technical quality amazed me. I could just play casual races, getting to know cars, until I fell asleep and then continue on for ages.
The series gets critiqued sometimes but I can personally appreciate that stubbornness in this case (developers have the right to do their own thing and don’t need to comply with a demanding audience for everything, they do know better sometimes :p). Take the damage model, for instance. Sure, it would be a nice extra, a gimmick really. But not really necessary, not for this type of clean racing game. It’s not Burnout afterall, I don’t want to spend more than a second out of the race anyway. And those are resources and manpower than can be spent on more meaningful things. They can even leave out all the cheaper cars and put in more crazy ones for my part.
I just appreciate the technical quality of the series, love the handling and general feel of it, the beautiful environments and graphics, stylish menus and cool jazz music. Yea, it’s time to get my GT on!
Keep doing what you do, Polyphony!

  • Last time I checked, GT was the ‘Real Driving Simulator’.

It’s more focused on real world events than the actual game now. Old hat.

  • So it’s an E Eports game.
    Evolve anyone? Lol

  • They should have used the drive club engine… This looks very last gen.

    • I can’t get over the fact that this LOOKS incredibly bad compared to most racers or simulators these days. Considering GT has always set the standard in racing game visuals in almost every Playstation system so far, this feels like it’s just using GT6’s graphical engine, and they went on and on saying they were making a new engine and whatever, and it sure does not show.

This might be the first ever GT I have to pass up on. Because seriously, I want them to step their game up.

  • Kind of surprised you are showing this. You made respectable sources like GTPlanet make the official trailer from 3 weeks ago Private on their Youtube Channel. Other good game news sources that follow the rules COULD put the trailer up in high bit-rate quality but you won’t allow them either.

Its sort of like you are giving into the “this looks like last gen” baloney, like the typical comment above, that the media has decided to jump on. Of course it isn’t as highlighted by Dualshockers yet again just like they did with Driveclub’s AI.
Shame on you, let people who want to do nothing but promote your game do so. You are acting like Nintendo right now, yeah I went there, that’s how backward and awkward this is.

  • OMG they used THE music score!

  • I wonder if they will get the sound of the cars right this time…. Not holding my breath though.

  • I’ve played Gran Turismo for over 16 years, since it launched on PS1 thru to PS3 GT6, and now PS4 GT Sport. I like the e-sports and FIA ideas and indorsement, and have preordered, but please please please, bring back track builder. We the true players make great tracks, after youve raced for all the tracks and got all the cars and won the trophies, you need to the callenge of new circuits, thats where track builder was awesome.

And please dont [DELETED] up car settings with updates I have 690 cars on GT6 it takes months to fix your fixes !

Looking forward to November can’t wait to use VR headset too. Please let us know as soon as possible the steering wheels that are compatible, and lets go racing and in the words of Murray Walker “Go Go Go !!!” .

    Forza GTSport !
