Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is coming to PC on May 16

Nixxes and Sucker Punch reveal PC features and pre-purchase details.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is coming to PC! We at Nixxes are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Sucker Punch Productions who created this critically acclaimed open-world action adventure. We are excited to bring Jin’s story to a new audience and to bring a Sucker Punch title to PC for the first time.

The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut includes the full game, the Iki Island expansion, and the cooperative online multiplayer Legends mode. For the past year, the team at Nixxes has been working hard to bring the Sucker Punch in-house engine technology to PC and implement PC features such as unlocked frame rates, a variety of graphics settings and presets, and customizable mouse and keyboard controls.

With ultrawide monitor support, you can take in the expansive terrain and ancient landmarks with a cinematic field of view. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC is fully optimized for 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions and even supports 48:9 resolutions for triple monitor setups.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC features the latest performance-enhancing technologies. NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3 are available with both upscaling and frame generation options. Intel XeSS upscaling is also supported and if your hardware has headroom to spare, you can use NVIDIA DLAA or FSR 3 Native AA to further boost image quality.

The game on PC also offers extensive controller support. Use Steam Input to remap and customize the peripheral of your choice to your preference. For a more immersive experience, use a PlayStation DualSense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, so you can feel the tension of drawing a bow and the strikes of your sword.

You can wishlist and pre-purchase Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut now on Steam and the Epic Games Store. If you pre-purchase the game, you’ll get access to the following early in-game unlocks when the game releases on 16 May:

  • New Game+ Horse
  • Traveler’s Attire
  • Broken Armor dyes from Baku’s shop

We asked Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming for his thoughts on the upcoming PC version, here is what he had to say:

“We’re proud to announce that our friends and partners over at Nixxes are bringing Ghost of Tsushima to PC! This is a first for Sucker Punch – all our previous work is console-exclusive, so we are excited about all this and Nixxes was the right team to do this project. With them on board, we knew the results would be nothing short of amazing! Now excuse me as I go order a Super Ultra Wide monitor!”

– Brian Fleming, Co-Founder, Sucker Punch

For PC players who are new to the game, here’s an overview of everything that is included:

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is an action-adventure game set in feudal Japan. Protagonist Jin Sakai was raised and trained in the ways of the samurai. His world is shattered when a Mongol invasion defeats the samurai army of his home on Tsushima island, and he is faced with a difficult decision: honor the tradition and customs of his upbringing and maintain a fight he cannot win, or deviate from his samurai path to protect the island and its people by any means necessary.

In his quest to reclaim Tsushima, Jin seeks the guidance and support of old friends and new unlikely allies. He must break away from tradition, become a new kind of warrior, and protect what’s left of his home at all costs.

Iki Island Expansion In this story expansion, Jin discovers new locations, characters, and enemies on a mysterious island. The island of Iki is a wild, lawless land of raiders and criminals. Jin will have to bring all his skills to defeat the enemy and save Iki.

Legends – Inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology, this cooperative multiplayer experience consists of two-player story missions and four-player wave-based survival missions, as well as the competitive two-versus-two Rivals mode. Choose one of four classes: Samurai, Ronin, Hunter or Assassin and play with friends or via online matchmaking.

Kurosawa Mode – Experience the game in black and white with film grain effects, as well as Japanese dialogue and English subtitles. This mode is inspired by the movies of legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa.

On behalf of everyone at Nixxes Software and Sucker Punch Productions, we can’t wait to bring Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut to PC. We will have more information to share, such as system requirements, as we get closer to launch on May 16.

  • I see no reason to own PS5 Console if all their first party games are eventually coming to PC! in the future it first party games come in day and date on PC, i’ll sell my console for PC! shame on PS for caring more on PC than the console themselves

    • “i’ll sell my console for PC!”

Now you’re getting it! Now you realize there’s a better option for playing the games you love!

  • Hopefully whoever replaces Jim Ryan will change the PC releases. Won’t hold my breath though…

  • For the price of a PS5 y’all could’ve bought a Steam deck.

  • sony why the hate for bloodborne a game that more people want on pc than until dawn? please dont make us wait till a 2nd after launch console to get a new version whether an actual ps5 would b (ps6) upgrade (update/remaster/remake) or pc port like u did demon’s souls. it cant be due to sale since returnal is lower than both of those games and all 3 are difficult

  • I am literally very upset with this news
I can’t believe Sony has done this I mean ghost of Tsushima is one of the finest PlayStation exclusives and now it’s also coming to pc I mean wtf are you doing Sony , you are destroying our trust in you . 💔 god of war , Spider-Man, the last of us, until dawn , horizon series and now our beloved ghost of Tsushima, Sony as a fanboy today you have totally broke my trust and believe in you .

    • Would you say Sony….shot themselves in the foot ?
I don’t know how much you know about Japanese culture (I’m an expert).

  • Good job Sony! Helldivers 2 is a prime example of what happens when the games are day and date on other platforms. The PC platform is literally carrying the game because the PS players are not buying the games but yet complain when they come to PC. Gaming now is going to be across all platforms…..the big problem is that Sony waited too late to push their games to PC.

  • Fantastic news !
One of those games I really wanted to play but could not because I had zero interest in the console.
Sony’s beyond-the-console approach is a very healthy thing.

Plus, it should really well on the Steam Deck like pretty much all SIE PC ports.

Hopefully The Last of Us Part II on Steam is not that far behind.

  • Please make the legends mode crossplay. We need more player on the servers

  • Ok I’ve had enough of this now I flat out won’t be buying any new games from you from now on and no it’s not because “more people get to play the game” it’s because this generation has been a complete joke in regards to support for the console PS5 has had nothing announced from Sony since god knows when and I am fed up waiting for them to pull their finger out for someone who has been a customer for 20+ years I am so done

  • Oh shoot, i thought i clicked on PlayStation.Blog , but i somehow ended up on PC.Blog . My bad.

  • Gonna be great playing this on my Deck, thanks sony

  • It’s funny seeing people come inches away from realizing they have like, consumer rights and have been getting screwed by console makers for decades.

“This box has no value to me without exclusives! At this point I should just move to PC, since they have all the games, for cheaper, with free online, better graphics, and tons of customization! It’s way better value!”

They’ll list every reason why PC is a more consumer friendly, options filled platform that far outdoes what a console ever will, and then just, won’t move to it, cause loyalty to a company they keep saying is mistreating them? Like what? If you honestly believe Sony is mistreating you with these ports (they’re not) why do you stay? Why wouldn’t you leave? I genuinely don’t understand.

  • Good thing for pc gamer, make it possible for them to discover the game ❤️

  • Hello,
I recentely completed watching trailer of Ghost Of Tsushima Directors Cut PC, During that I found a huge texture render glitch, there is one clip at starting timing 0:02, where grasses are not rendered, I know there is still time to launch the game, but for my personal satisfaction I decided to inform, so that these issues will be fixed before launching game and we can seamlessly play this amazing game without any bugs and glitches, I hope you guys will address this grass render issue.
    Thank You.

  • Why don’t you guys remake Resistance with it’s original Multiplayer mode and release it for PS5 and PC?

  • You do know that Sony is a corporation, right?

They make a lot more money releasing games day and date. That’s why Helldivers 2 is so successful on Steam.

  • Sony will soon become the new SEGA.

I will not buy PS5 Pro. I will not buy PS6. I will not buy Playstation accesories. I will not buy PS Plus. I will not buy Playstation games. Zero hype for this stuff anymore.

I will buy new graphic card. I will buy PC accesories. I will buy Xbox Game Pass. I will buy games on Steam. To be honest, I already did and I will continue investing in PC platform, because Sony showed me it is totally not worth to invest in Playstation platform.

Every Playstation game will be on PC. There is no point to own a Playstation console anymore. “Only on Playstation” is a total lie. You dont need that if you have PC. And on PC everything is better and cheaper anyway. Also, PC and Nintendo Switch are currently the only platforms having real exclusive games.

  • Exactly. I am now focused on PC platform and when I will finish games that I already own on PS5 I will sell it and buy Steam Deck. My Steam library grows every month and games are a lot cheaper than in Playstation Store.

  • Fantastic game that deserves to be played by more people. W Sony.

Will there be crossplay for Legends mode?

  • Way to squander your relevance and legacy, not to mention the loyalty of your consumer base. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, Sony…

  • The amount of crying in these comments lol the game came out 4 years ago. Touch grass.

  • Dear Sony, Sucker Punch & Nixxes …..many many many Thanks for bringing Ghost of Tsushima onboard to PC (myself PC player), I cant express how I loved this master piece when first came to console. This type of action adventure RPG are gems for me. From last few years you brought many excellent console game to PC & each of every games are truly fantastic experience for me. I highly appreciated your humble decision to bring those console exclusive games to PC user like us. keep up your great work continue as we are always looking forward to you.
Love you SONY. many thanks, your games are always very special for me.
Now Its time to —-pay a visit feudal Japan on may 16, A tale of legends waiting.

  • I’m really happy for this, as I will be able to play this on my Steam Deck on the go, as far as specs go this should work. But I kinda wish Sony would make cross-platform saves so I pick up on the Steam Deck where I left on my Playstation

  • Man, there are a lot of people who are very upset about this. Why?

  • Been waiting for Ghost 2 announcement for the past two years. Of course Sony announces the PC port before the sequel. Its not even laughable at this point. Ghost is the last game that they released that I really enjoyed. As everything afterwards was a disappointment. Even GOW, which used to be my favorite franchise. I will be playing Ghost 2 on PC when it comes out as I will no longer be a PS gamer/customer. Just put the games on PC the same day so I will not have to wait on PC.

  • @morbidanjel and other people. What have PS5 owners got from all this PC stuff? Sony has not been releasing any games for PS5. So why do I own one? I am sick of people ignoring that fact. The PS5 is trash and they refuse to support it. Yet the games are $70, PS+ price increased again, there are a lack of features and now no more exclusives. They keep catering to these people who do not even buy their games on PC as Steam data shows how low the player count is for their games.

  • PS+ Trophy Support?
    Cross Play?
    Cross Save?
