PS Blog Game of the Year Awards 2022: voting is now open 

Some rather strange entries and categories here I must say!

Firstly I voted for Gran Turismo 7 in several categories, but it felt wrong to vote for or even include it as a “sports” game, when it’s not one and is so much more, so “by default” I voted for FIFA there!

It’s strange that Battlefield 2042 isn’t included in any of the categories, I put it down for best multiplayer and best “ongoing” game, though probably should have put it down for best sound design as well…

It was strange to see The Last of Us Part 1 include in certain categories, while not in others, in particular it should be in the best re-release, as I voted for it, as it’s clearly “only” a re-remaster, rather than a remake – it has the exact same cutscenes as the other two versions!!

It’s strange to ask people’s opinions on Dualsense usage in various games when MAYBE a fifth of players even have a PS5!

I also learnt that Return to Monkey Island thankfully came out on Playstation (and Xbox) recently after initially only coming out on PC and Switch, however it only came out on “next gen” Playstations and Xboxes, not for PS4 and Xbox One – if it runs on the Switch, surely it’ll run on PS4 and Xbox One!

Also on the category of most anticipated game, none of the available categories really interest me, while thinking of the game I want to play on Playstation in the near future, it’s not currently one that’s in development, but IF enough of us ask for it here, MAYBE just maybe we can help make it happen!…

And what is that I here you ask, a complete “next gen” version of Elite Dangerous on PS5, so to be brief I entered, Elite Dangerous Odyssey, which we should all demand and ask for!

For those of you out of the loop, you may think, “Isn’t Elite Dangerous already on Playstation?!”, Indeed it is, but it’s only playable on PS4 and Xbox One in “legacy” mode now which is the same a PC version 3.8, which too is only running “legacy” mode!

About a week ago, the game’s developer, Frontier Development further split the game more than it already was, “allowing” those of us on PS4, Xbox One and PC 3.8 to keep playing the game in “legacy” mode, while those with a powerful enough PC only can choose to play on the new codebase version 4.0, which gets exclusive access to all the game’s new content, in particular its’ fairly new expansion, Odyssey…

Seemingly Frontier tested Odyssey running on “last gen” consoles, but never made any attempt to release a native “next gen” version of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X, which would surely have no trouble running Odyssey…

Odyssey has been shown to run perfectly well on the unsupported Steam Deck which is said to be “only” about as powerful as a PS4, so as said, the PS5 should run it just fine!

So join me I pleading to the hearts and wallets of Frontier in any way we can to release a “next gen” version of Elite by filling in Elite Dangerous Odyssey as your most anticipated new game!
