Introducing PlayStation Stars – An all new loyalty program

Join for free, complete campaigns, and earn rewards.

Throughout our company’s 27-year history, we have been continually moved by how meaningful gaming experiences can create fond, lifelong memories for players. All of us at PlayStation take special joy in creating unique products and experiences that delight our fans. This includes everything from our consoles and critically acclaimed games, to community challenges such as Seize the Throne and Treat Codes, to digital and live events including State of Play.

Today, I’m pleased to reveal PlayStation Stars, a brand new loyalty program that celebrates you, the player, for being on this ever growing gaming journey with us. PlayStation Stars will be free to join when it launches later this year. Once you become a member, you’ll earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities. Our “Monthly Check-In” campaign simply requires you to play any game to receive a reward, while other campaigns require you to win tournaments, earn specific trophies, or even be the first player to platinum a blockbuster title in your local time zone.

All PlayStation Stars members will have opportunities to earn loyalty points. Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds and select PlayStation Store products. As an additional benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in PlayStation Stars automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store

Also, as part of PlayStation Stars, we are unveiling a new type of reward called “digital collectibles.” Collectibles are as diverse as our portfolio of products and franchises. They are digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. There will always be a new collectible to earn, an ultra rare collectible to strive for, or something surprising to collect just for fun.

We hope this new program brings to mind past gaming memories while making you excited for the future with PlayStation: commemorating the gaming eras we created together, charting new paths to explore, and bringing players together for global celebrations. This is just the beginning for PlayStation Stars, and the program will continue to evolve over time. We’re currently doing some early tests on this program before launching it later this year in phased regional rollouts.

We hope you’ll enjoy the program once it launches. We’ll be back with more updates in the future. Thanks for reading!

  • Now create Playstation Home and connect it with it :D

  • When it comes to granting loyalty points you should finally consider addressing the loyal customers who already purchase games that inevitably become free to them with their PlayStation Plus membership. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been left frustrated to learn that a game I recently purchased then went on to become available to me for free with my PS+ subscription. To date the value proposition has suffered with your services simply because you have failed to address this specific piece for years.

Imagine, anytime a game becomes available that a PS+ / PS Stars member already owns, a minimum amount of loyalty points will automatically be granted to the customs account. Just think about how positive a policy like this would be received by everyone in your fanbase. Goodwill for PlayStation. Goodwill for your loyal customers.

If PlayStation is serious about cultivating more loyalty, this PlayStation Stars program will inevitably remain inadequate if it doesn’t address this previous purchases pothole that has existed since PlayStation Plus launched years ago. Only by finally addressing this piece will this new program truly succeed in cultivating substantive loyalty with your customers.

It’s low hanging fruit guys. The logistics are not remotely insurmountable. Get it done and reap the rewards.

    • Yeah would much rather get loyalty points for every PS+ game I don’t download, 99 percent of the time. Or better yet, the simple choice not to have to get involved with PS+ just to pay for online. -_-

  • Playstations lack of good customer service for the playstation digital store front has me refusing to purchase digital games . I was over charged and their service refused to work with me when I was not available during their limited call hours. They are making it harder to get help with refunds and issues pertaining to their digital store which is open 24/7 but you can only revive support for most issues during limited call hours . I say this is only another recipe for disaster in customer care.

  • “Throughout our company’s 27-year history, we have been continually moved by how meaningful gaming experiences can create fond, lifelong memories for players.”

Which is why we don’t have backward compatibility on the PS5 to be able to enjoy the games and experiences we’ve collected over the last 27 years.

  • They used to have a program called PlayStation MVP and it was a program that rewarded PlayStation fans and players. . They discontinued it for some reason.. but we used to get in free to PlayStation events and could also be invited to playtest on site in San Mateo, Santa Monica and/or San Diego. and be involved in the actual game development. Was actually a very fun and cool program. I was apart of it. It’s how I got my PRO playstation avatar. 😎 This new STARS program seems nice as well hopefully they support it and keep it going… 💯 Peace, Love and Game On always

  • It’s not a new service

  • Sounds amazing! Thank you. I like that you’re thinking of the players. I wish you would allow us to delete trophies for games with Unobtainable Trophies however.

    • They’re thinking of the players in the sense of, how can I get them to invest more. This is marketing, not some altruism :)

And yeah, we finally need an option to delete trophies.

  • When and where do I sign up?

  • The_0neAbove_AIl

This is very interesting concept. Looking forward for this 😁

  • Taking another Xbox thing and making it there own. This breeds competition and Innovation.

  • This is awesome things like this give that extra incentive to players ! I can’t wait sign me up now.

  • This is great! I only hope it is available outside of USA.

    • Check the international PS Blog pages: the same blog post appears in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, LatAm, and Japan.

Korea, China, and Russia don’t have this news, so I assume they won’t be part of this program, at least for now.

  • Does ur earlier trophies/activities will count?

  • Nice <3

  • thoughtful_rebel

This idea has potential and I’m holding out hope that it rises to it. Hopefully the rewards are something we want and overly burdensome to earn.

  • If I have to be the first one to platinum something I’m not getting any points ever 😂 I like the idea though, let’s see how it turns out in practice.

  • I wonder if we’ll be able to link our Sony rewards account with this one so we can take advantage of both.

  • Good iniciative!!!

  • Nice. Working on platinum # 2000 Elden Ring atm.

    Regard,
    John Earwig

  • This is pretty cool 👍!!

  • This is awesome. I have been wishing for some sort of rewards program for digital purchases for years! I have literally been with Sony since I was 2 years old and haven’t changed since!

  • bad idea because people will just cheat the system to get free games

  • you can count me out because i wont be signing up for this rubbish besides real gamers buy games

  • and i oop

  • Hi Playstation people! This sounds great to have something that rewards players all around the world and not just a few areas. It would be great if you give small wallet funds for physical games too, there are still many of us that still like that format better. Also please reconsider the “first to platinum” think. It incentivate bad habits like playing without rest, no sleeping, no eating and increase anxiety. I love to platinum my games bit it can get a bit crazy sometimes without having the urge to be the first.

Anyways thank you for this initative!

  • Sounds awesome. I’ll help you test it.

  • If there are points based on purchases, will you retroactively give us points based on purchases?

Even if I only count stuff purchased direct from Sony, or stuff that can be registered, I have purchased a sizable fortunes of PlayStation consoles (including more than one PS5, and more than one Vita, and countless older PS systems), and tons of digital game sales for them, plus PlayStation Plus subscriptions since the program started.

Nintendo retroactively gave us Golden Coins for past registered/digital purchases when they launched their current loyalty program. Just sayin’.

  • Glad to join when it happens but you gotta love how they are jumping on the horrible nft bandwagon without saying they are.

  • Nice.

    Regard,
    John Earwig

  • darth-vader-1386

    Nice 👏👏👍👍

  • This sounds cool. Hopefully yall have a cabinet or something for us to display them similar to our trophies.

  • xvoidofdarknessx

    This is super exciting!!!

  • Implement the digital collectibles/trophies into the revamped PSHome and let ppl show that s**t off in their mansions/houses/lofts.

  • Good initiative

  • This is a step in the right direction. As I also have MS Rewards, the benefits I have seen and collected there are great. I hope this program is as rewarding! I look forward to seeing how this pans out. It is a shame that Sony Rewards made the benefits only for card members, because before then, I was able to get enough points to get great things from the catalog. I have cautious optimism.

  • This sounds really exciting! Can’t wait.

  • I remember being part of “Playstation Underground” and the “Gamer Advisory Panel”. Anyone remember those? They would occasionally send me demo discs and I received a couple of T shirts. It was a nice program. This was back in the PS2 days, I think. I still have my card for the Gamer Advisory Panel. On the back it reads :”This card denotes official membership into the Gamer Advisory Panel-an elite group of passionate gamers who are dedicated to shaping the future of the game industry.” Lol back in the good old days.

  • Y’all forgot the word “All” in the headline and “2”

  • This is actually really good And it will To complete more games to 100Percent and get Rewards My one problem with this is If you already have trophies What will happen Will you be giving rewards For the trophies that you already have?

  • When does it come out?

  • Wasn’t this already active, it was called sony rewards or playstation rewards, I really forgot the name, but you could collect points for registering Sony products, buying on the playstation store and getting platinums, I had points to get a 10$psn card but could never redeem it.

  • Idk What this is

  • Now we just need a home, maybe a PlayStation Home if you will to put up these awards to show off 🙃

  • What does it do?

  • that sounds awesome asf

  • Great idea! Will definitely be signing up!

  • Will it be in India
