PlayStation 5: Launch Day Ordering Update

Launch-day sales will be online-only this year, so please plan ahead.

Hi all – the launch of the PlayStation 5 console on November 12 (or November 19, depending on your region) is almost upon us! In the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst COVID-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.

No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.

Gamers who have pre-ordered for pick-up at their local retailer should still be able to do so at their designated appointment time, under the retailer’s safety protocols. Please confirm the details with your local retailer.

    Hello question if I buy Cold War in disc for the ps4 can I also play it on the ps5 or will I have to get the digital version for to play on both systems?

    PS5 has been a joke from pre-order to launch. Impossible to pre order and now it won’t be possible to buy one on launch. Brilliant 👏 👏 👏

    This is unacceptable i live in UK and not one shop or online retailer has had or EVER HAD A PERODER THE WEBSITE SAY COMING SOON SIGN UP DID THIS WITH EVER RETAILER NOT ONE EMAILED ME TO SAY PERORDERS ARE LIVE OR YOU CAN ORDER NOW NOT A SINGLE ONE IT F$@% DISGUSTING THE WAY YOU HANDLED IT SO XBOX ALL THE WAY

      That’s strange because a shed load of other people managed to get one in the uk. Dont blame Sony because you were lazy in your search to buy one everyone complaint how they COULDNT get a pre order well I really wanted one so made sure I got one. Early bird catches the worm my friend and all you got was the cigarette end

    This is such crap!!! I have been registered since I saw that was possible for the ps5 and now I can’t even do what I’ve always been forced to do and wait outside a damn store for God knows how long and still won’t get my system till when??? 2022? Never in my life have j waited so long not to be able to give away $500+.

    Hi , I live in Australia and have not got a Launch day PS5 but been advised I will receive a 2nd delivery PS5 but my retailer has no clue as to when they will have stock that always point the finger a Sony for the fact they don’t know as excited PS fan it would really be great if you could share more about what wil happen after launch seeing we all are well versed on launch now those of us that missed out really only want to know what happens next . Please Sony don’t leave us in the dark

    Im just curious what’s to prevent people from using online bots and buying them all. Then selling them all on eBay at double the price. All yall going to prevent this.

    That’s good to hear. Pls people stay safe! Respect all the instructions and directive for you and your beloved one. Soon or later everyone will have a ps5. I know that we’re all excited as we have never been, but it’s just a matter of time till we all get one console.

    I think it’s fair/right thing to do with online stock only due to covid etc…

    I know there will be scalpers trying to buy as many ps5 as possible to sell on for more money on Ebay, But that’s down to the retailers to sort out and try stop them not Sony

    Each retailer will have all their pre order stock in warehouses ready to ship with allocated launch day Stock (12th AU/NZ/USA) (19th UK/EU) for sale online only with some retailers having limited stock few days before for launch day delivery.

    I am still hoping to secure a console, I have pre ordered Planet Coaster Dirt 5 Call Of Duty Black ops cold war PS5 Controller from Shopto.net

    Next gen is finally here guys

    I am not a bot and i managed to get a preorder on the first wave even though i found out hours later that preorders went live. everyone that is worried about not getting a ps5 should relax a little bit because getting a ps5 this time will
    Be easier than the first wave of preorders, and no i will not sell my ps5 on ebay for any price.

    Thank you sony for thinking about our health, it makes me feel a lot safer knowing that i will not have to wait on the line exposed and close to other people just to get my preorder. Stay safe everyone.

    I only have 1 question.

    If I manage to find one that day, on-line and it’s in stock at the store. Will I be able to pick it up that day? I requested that day off to go hunting for one. I know this isn’t anyone’s problem but my own for taking the day off. I will be a little embarrassed for doing so if I am not able to aquire a PlayStation 5 on November 12. I am 42 years of age and frankly, after all the unfortunate events of 2020 this was going to be the one thing I was looking forward to. I know , I sound like I’m whining. But a little more information will be greatly appreciated. I do not live in a major city so my choices are very limited. Will the online stores open right at midnight on November 12? There’s allot of unnecessary anxiety that can be put to rest with a little more information. Please be kind to one another. I’m just a middle aged man that doesn’t have much to look forward to and this was the one thing I was. Stay safe my fellow gamers.

    It’s not impossible to get one online because of bots! If you actually tried early enough it was easy to pre order one and at no cost until the 31st of october. Dont say things are lame because you couldn’t be bothered to act fast enough to get one. Its redundant

    You guys do know….that target, walmart etc will have them in store but you’ll have to order online to pick up. Scalpers cant just buy everywhere and go to every location. Thats not how it works.

    What about the quantity of pre order units. In Chile, no retail distributor have had any units available, not even listing PS5 on their pages even if those retailers are liked to Sony Chile PS5 website. How would we be able to get a unit, if none of the assigned retailer have them?

    Can you please also allow for one device per person? Bots will be all over this, buying up all the systems. I know it’s mainly going to be the retailers that sell it, but it’s going to be like it was when pre-orders went live.

    Now. I play both platforms but I have brothers in the house who play PS5. My brother was doordashing and grinding to save up money so we can wait outside walmart to get a PS5 (He had inside reports from a walmart employee that they had PS5’S) until we heard this news. All I gotta say is.
    1. It sucks but hey it could be worse
    2. It could be worse.
    I hope sony makes it to where we can order more PS5’s when the time comes. As for me I’m 16 and I respect Sony and Xbox players. I hate console wars. It’s pointless.
    Anyway that’s just me.

    Bots and more Bots. I personally know people who used bots to get orders just to resell. It’s ridiculous. Some working people can’t spend hours waiting for the next time limited supplies are available. For them to be gone. Also sites crashing while ordering to not having enough stock to meet demand. The finally I got a preorder…. lucky me😎 Till I got an email letting me know my order was canceled. Now I’m stuck looking around AGAIN.
