Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered detailed

Included with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition coming November 12, 2020.

We were so excited to announce that a voucher code for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will be included* with the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation 5 console. This is a full next-gen remastering of Marvel’s Spider-Man – the team has been carefully crafting the definitive version of the game with new assets, technology, and updates. We’re taking advantage of next-generation technologies that the PlayStation 5 console introduces, as well as bringing some additional features to the game, including three new suits.

Let’s talk about graphical updates. The team has done the painstaking work of updating the city’s environment to take advantage of the new console. Beyond improved models and materials, one of the biggest things we have brought to the game is ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows. We now have true reflections on the windows of buildings, and it looks stunning with our new skies and weather.

But it’s not just the environments; our characters have also gotten a huge upgrade. From higher fidelity skin, eye, and teeth shaders to individually-rendered strands of hair, the new tech and detail brings our characters and their performances to new life.

This does bring us to one of the bigger changes. In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.

Here’s a clip of one of our most powerful scenes from the first game, when Peter arrives to work to find his boss and mentor, Otto Octavius, working on the arms that will come to define him.

Additionally, thanks to the power of the PS5 console, we’re now able to offer a high frame rate through Performance Mode, which targets a 60fps frame rate! This allows you to experience the beginning of the Marvel’s Spider-Man storyline like never before. It feels amazing to play. Here’s a quick clip.

That’s not all! We take full-advantage of other next-generation PlayStation features like near-instant loading (don’t worry, you can turn back on those humorous fast-travel animations if you miss them), Spatial 3D Audio on compatible headphones, and the revolutionary DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.  We’ve also brought new photo mode features to the game that we developed for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: you can now place lights in the environment and change your Spider-Suit after you’ve lined up your shot!

Oh, speaking of Spider Suits… here you go:

That’s right, The Amazing Suit has arrived as one of three new suits in the game. It’s the perfect suit to wear as you attempt to earn the Platinum trophy in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered.

We hope this helps explain why we’re so excited for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered.

  • What was wrong with the facemodel? This new one looks horrible

    • No need to insult a real person. Personally I feel that it is a terrible choice since we already got to know John bubniaks Peter and changing his face feels really bizarre, to the point of reducing my hype for insomniac’s spideman 2 drastically

  • I do believe that John Bubniak did a great job as a Peter Parker. Yeah, reminds me of the Amazing Spiderman with Andrew Garfield of which I am not a huge fan but hey I would’ve never expected such a good performance from Bubniak. I am sure that Ben Jordan will do an amazing job as well, but as a consumer, I don’t see the need for this change.

  • Insomniac, I love the graphical updates to the city and environment, especially to Spider-man. I very much want to experience this game with all of the environmental changes and experience the game in a new light on PS5. Thank you so much for bringing Amazing Spider-man suit to this game as well! I’m not going to speak for the fans but I’ll speak from what I personally like and dislike about the new changes. Please do not take away the unique Peter Parker from the PS4 version of the game. I personally feel the voice no longer fits now that the design has made Peter Parker look younger. I can also perceive the new changes like this.

When you picture Miles Morales, wouldn’t he want to look up to someone older than him for gaining life experience and super hero experience?! No doubt, Miles will have flash backs, potential interactions and possible Spider-man Duo moments together. I also don’t want to think of what this new version of Peter Parker would look like in a relationship with Mary Jane. I love your games and have been playing them for a very long time. But I can’t support the change made to this Peter Parker. The story is so beautifully crafted and artistically presented. Don’t change it now by taking on influences or inspiration by the MCU. I don’t feel like this change had to be done or at least could have been presented or updated in a better way than this. This is your own game, own it, don’t let your unique Peter Parker disappear! I look forward to seeing the direction of the game and playing Miles Morales on PS5 :)

  • The new Peter model does look good, however he also looks like a teenager now. Kind of a strange choice but whatever.

  • Just got the Platinum for Spider Man on PS4 yesterday and am currently going through the DLC story. I would of loved to get the remastered version once I get a PS5 but now I’m not so sure. I definitely prefer the previous face model for Peter over this one, not everything Spider Man has to look like the actor in the MCU.

  • Will my saves transfer over or do I need to start over from PS4 to PS5?

  • The game won The Game of The Year award why would you change anything about it specially Peter’s face. I really hope there is an option to switch it back to the original face because he looked better that way and not a 15 year old kid

  • hi , would it be possible to buy spider-man remastered on ps5 in stand-alone without miles morales ? Or maybe an output upgrade on ps5? because otherwise I pay the version only miles morales :( I don’t want to pay another 79.99E just for the remastered … thank you :)

  • Old Peter was better, new seems like forget acting.

  • Well, you guys (Insomniac) have royally ****ed this up – and it was going so well for you too…
Not only have you guys messed up the whole pricing situation and the refusal to sell the remastered version separately from Miles Morales, but you’ve now screwed up with Peter Parker!
Peter is supposed to be much older than Miles, yet this new face looks even younger than Miles, he also doesn’t look as likeable, looks like the face of a villain!
I don’t care whatever dumb stupid reason you have for changing to the new face, just change it back – I couldn’t even watch through the video, the voice just does not match Peter. If this is what Peter will look like in Spider-Man 2, I won’t be playing it.
Even if you can’t get the original face of Peter back, this new face HAS to GO! It doesn’t FIT the character – are you guys just blind, can you not see this??? What the hell is going on at Sony right now??

  • As someone who still hasn’t played Marvel’s Spiderman, I think the new face model looks much better. Much more natural. I always thought the original looked a bit off in the trailers. And if I’m remembering correctly, there were others who felt the same way when he was first shown way back. To those complaining, I think you’re too attached to the original.

Looking forward to playing this on PS5 in about a year from now.

Now I just need to decide what I’m going to do with my sealed PS4 copy of the GOTY edition…

  • ‘The PS4 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales offers a free upgrade path to PS5 Standard Edition’

Does that apply to the PSN Digital version, as the PSN store doesn’t mention anything about the ‘free upgrade path to PS5’

Would suck if it only applies to the physical copies

  • Looking at younger pics of Yuri I must admit this does look more like him.

  • Loved the original, beat all DLCs and original story – less motivated to try the remaster with the change of actor now.

  • “We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console.”

So yeah… I don’t buy that reason for one second.

  • Please add an option to use the original face instead. He looks like a teenager now.

  • Definitely looking forward to playing the remastered version.

  • I like we’re finally getting an Amazing Spider-Man suit, but I’m not a fan of the new face model for Peter. I thought he was a post-grad student or something of the sort? Now he looks like he maybe just graduated high school.

  • So is this true this change to Peter’s face was forced because of a lawsuit by Andrew Garfield’s lawyers who thought PS4 Peter looked too much like Andrew or not?

  • Everything Looks amazing, graphics, visuals and concepts except the new look for Peter Parker I prefer the one I had on Spider Man Ps4 the new look just makes me want to look at a kid 👦

  • If I preorder can I get a ps5 preorder too?

  • Y’all on some nonsense for replacing John Bubniak. #JusticeForJohnBubniak

  • Didn’t we already go over this with Infamous 2. Don’t swap the character model.

  • That’s all fine, and good, but those who have pre-ordered the Digital Edition console can’t actually buy any PS5 titles from the store yet. So when is that going to be available?

  • If Insomniac Game Says it’s Better Choice For Pater’s Face I believe in it. Really Don’t have a problem with this one at all. SO Ecxited to experience it again in PS5.

  • And to those whining about the new character model: get over yourselves. It’s just a character model. Who cares.

    • And it actually looks great. I didn’t like the old Peter and wasn’t planning on buying the remaster until I saw this. Now I’m buying it day 1. The remaster and the new model look awesome.

    • I’m fine with either. New look doesn’t bother me one bit.

  • can you just make this remastered version purchase a bit more confusing? 🤔

  • I want “old” Peter back. This one looks younger than Miles, it does not make sense.

  • After a whole game of getting to know this new Peter, do you realize how bad of a decision this is? If the recast was for marvels avengers I would be OK, that’s a different peter. Now it feels really bizarre, and honestly it kinda killed my hype for insomniac’s spideman 2. I hope that the face model will be changed back to the original.

  • This is a huge disappointment. The new face is something completely opposed to what fans if this game desired. It seems very disingenuous and worries me greatly about the future of Spider-Man in Sony’s hands. I was a massive fan of the first game but seeing this bizarre decision has me very upset. I was going to buy this too along with a ps5. Im not interested anymore.

  • Sony’s spider-synergy-mania strikes again. Justice for John Bubniak!

  • I did not like the new actor as a model for the spider man, the truth is that I feel that it is a tremendous mistake on his part, the previous one is better given that if it suited him as a character that many people love, changing him is ruining the game and above all the franchise, I ask that you please take into consideration returning to the previous model

  • This kind of makes me want to replay it even more come PS5

  • First he looks very young and second if you’re going to change Peter Parker’s face can we please change Mary Jane’s as the face model did not fit the bill

  • Will not be buying this!!! You made him look like a discount Peter Parker! Who thought that was a good idea?

  • seeing the new face recasting surprised me as i got used to john bubniak’s face. Could you add (as an option) the old version of the face in the remaster of the game? Not as a remastered higher quality face but the same face model from ps4.

  • Oh wow, I am not happy with the face change in the remastered version. I forgot but isn’t Peter suppose to be like 22 or 23 or something in this game? But you recast him to look 16/17? No thank you, guess I’ll be skipping several cutscenes because he NEEDS a mask on at all times. #NotMyPeter

  • Why Insomiac?! Why did you change the model of Peter?! Is there any way of returning the old model back?!

  • It´s your game and you can do whatever you want but I think that is not a great idea to only sell the Remastered with a Miles Morales copy. It should be a standalone game.
Also, I´m not a fan of the new face for Peter, looks great but I will miss the other.

  • No upgrade path for the fans that brought and support the PS4 version is just lame and greedy! No way I’m supporting your greedy Sony and Insomniac!

  • Insomniac please change the face back. The old character model was perfect for an older more experienced Peter. This dude looks 12.

  • There was absolutely no need to replace the previous face model. This is a very odd and unwelcomed choice.

  • Game looks good but I’m already put off and confused by the number of different editions.

  • wow what a convoluted mess, the new face is horrible, just that killed all my interest in the upgrade and the new games. just awful. super pass.

  • Peter Parker looks awful. I just can’t support this. Miles Morales and all future Spider-Man Games from Insomniac Games will now be purchased used instead of “Day One”. Disappointing.

  • Do not change Peter’s facial model. Honestly, what is the new model???? Super weird and unnatural. HATE IT!!!!!! Change the old model back!!!

  • Does anyone think it’s stupid how they’re not offering a separate digital & physical release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered?
I mean it seems like one of those obvious releases to do, unless PlayStation and Insomniac doesn’t like making money.
To be honest, I think initially they’ll have it so the only way you can get Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is through the ‘Ultimate Edition’ of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Mile’s Morales.
I’m thinking like what Activision did with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Remember how it was only available through Infinite Warfare, then later they released it separately on disc?

In addition, does anything think it’s dumb how during the course of the PS4 gen, some games were digital only? I hate when that happens; especially if another region gets a physical & digital PS4 release. Some examples would be the US version of Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays, and Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost ON.
Hopefully on the PS5, we have all games getting a physical and digital release…even if it’s not released physically during the initial launch of the game.

  • Change Peter Parker’s image back to how it was on the PS4. This new look is garbage.

  • Does anyone know if the Amazing Spider-Man suits will be available on ps4?

  • Not feeling Peter’s new face, I’m sorry but that’s not an upgrade.
