State of Play returns this Thursday, August 6

Updates on upcoming PS4 and PS VR titles take the spotlight.

It’s been a while… but State of Play returns this Thursday with a focus on third-party-published games coming to PS4 and PS VR. We’ll have a few PS5 game updates on third-party and indie titles you last saw in June’s PS5 showcase. 

The episode is weighing in at 40+ minutes(!). We’ve got a great lineup in store featuring plenty of new gameplay footage and other game updates. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

And just to be super clear — there will be no PlayStation Studios updates in Thursday’s episode. There won’t be any updates around hardware, business, preorders, or dates either. On Thursday, our focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem. Should be fun!

The new State of Play episode airs Thursday, August 6 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 4:00pm Eastern Time / 9:00pm BST, and you can watch it live on Twitch and YouTube.

      We might not get PS5 pre-irder info, but those PS4 games are still relevant for PS5, as they have to be cross-gen and could get some good PS5 upgrades like 4k/60fps. (Just like Avengers and Kena being PS4 games that also run on PS5.)

    At this point in time i m just waiting for sony to say and the price is 450/400$ each, and say Fairly Price Equation, also mention you would never regret buying a PS5, Just Hope it’s affordable!!!
    Note: I m getting pissed off my YouTubers clickbaiting, glad sony said no major ps5 announcements

    Let me be clear.. I am not interested. I am working through my backlog and putting money aside for next gen. I have zero interest in upcoming PS4 or VR games.

    We need to know the important details about the PS5, launch is in three months and we know practically nothing, not even the launch line up. Give us the info we need to know ASAP

    1. Launch date
    2. Price
    3. Launch line up

    Well done Microsoft. You put on such am abysmal next gen showcase 10days ago that Sony doesn’t even have to do anything. I kid, I kid, Sony were never going to do anything to have to react to Microsoft lol. Its funny though how all the “why is Sony so quiet?” remarks stopped over a week ago from the moron Xbots and gaming “journalists”. If anything they WANT Sony to stay quiet.

    Hopefully we get a quick look at the PS5 UI which was teased in the June Showcase. If not, no biggie. ^_^

    Yea sorry, but I could not care less about this. The new generation is almost upon us and we’ve seen practically nothing of the PS5. You showed like 7 minutes of gameplay last show including indie titles which almost no one cares about.
    It’s just bad timing, when, having seen practically nothing of the PS5, you schedule an event focused on this ending generation.

    WTH? Why are you having a state of play for the ps4 at the end of its life cycle only a few months before the next gen comes out? It’s pointless and aggravating!

    WHAT’S TAKING SO LONG FOR A PRICE AND DATE OF THE PS5!!! It’s supposed to come out in only 2 months. You know people NEED TO TAKE PRE-ORDERS to start paying it off especially if it will cost $500 PLUS taxes, PLUS 2nd controller, PLUS games, PLUS extra warranty.

    Very strange move by SONY!
    i believe it was a perfect opportunity for Sony to seal the deal by showing off some gameplay footage from the likes of Horizon and Miles Morales. Ofcourse we will get gameplay footage before launch but why are they delaying and killing the momentum? Whats the rationale behind this slow drip-feed approach by Sony? By this time, most of us expect Sony’s marketing to floor the pedal. But its still not happening with launch so near. I was also expecting a full UI deep dive in August. Seems like we’ll have to wait more.

    I have always been a playstation guy, but between not giving a price and now announcing another event without the price reveal and xbox pushing their game pass so hard that supposedly let’s you download games instead of trying to play games by streaming them with a lag like when I tried psnow ,if they drop a good price first I might pre-order and make the jump. Give us the price already!

    I dont care about PlayStation 5 News anyway im not hurry to brought it this Year…..
    Im gonna wait to get it at normal price instead to brought it at overpriced retail price at release because when you see that if you brought youre new games on PS4 or on PS5 it will be the same games anyway except if you brought it on PS4 you will pay 60$US/80$CAD and if brought it on PS5 you will pay 70$US/90$CAD you will need to spend 10 or 20 bucks more depending on which country you live when i saw that i was “WTF is this man! then when i see that news “The newly upcoming PS4 games or actual PS4 Games who have been release in 2020 and 2019 would be upgradable on PS5 and all other PS4 titles gonna be retrocompatible on PS5” i was so happy^^ and then when i saw that the actual PS4 games or upcoming PS4 would be upgradable on PS5 for 0$ Cost i was more happy^^ because i dont have to wait to brought my games on PS5 or to scraped an entire library of PS4 games

    But ive got an unplanned purchase of 2 new pair of eyeglasses then i prefer to change my 7yrs old eyeglasse instead of purchase my new PS5 this year but im not hurry to wait 6 or 8months much longer to play on PS5
    And also BATTLEFIELD 6 Resident Evil 8 Horizon 2 Gran Turismo 7 and the Remake of Demon’s Soul would not be release on PS5 until Autumn 2021 then what was hurry lol
    That why i will brought my PS5 on March of April 2021 on the 2nd wave of PS5 Retail…..

    But i will watch this Thursday Stream for sure^^

    completely deflated all hype from me. they’ve shown nothing interesting at all really and now more nothing. they’re biggest announcement so far was that they’re making a ps5 pro ALREADY. i might aswel just wait for that, buy that in 2-4 years whenever its out, and just get a pc instead for now.

    Kinda have zero fate on Sony and Microsoft on releasing there console this year. No price and no release date yet on either side. Yup I still don’t believe on either side until I see it to believe it. Time is running out on both show. Would be better on Sony part to at least addressed something about delayed until next year so they don’t hype up and then disappointed. But hey to each is own I guess.

    Theres only one reason why they are not giving us more info on the ps5 at this stage, they will be delaying it until 2021 its obvious they are not waiting for Microsoft to price the series x, even if sony were to price ps5 first, and Microsoft under cut them sony would just re price ps5 to under cut Microsoft accordingly, sony are back tracking on there release schedule for whatever reason.

    I am really excited for Sony regardless of PS4 or PS5. As long as you continue to give us some Exclusive AAA titles. I am very pleased with you guys. Well done so far on your new mile stone with giving us the Next-gen Console. I am super excited for all the official announcements that have made by you guys so far.
