Minecraft Bedrock Version Coming to PS4

The newest version of Minecraft comes to PS4 tomorrow.

Bedrock is coming to PlayStation 4 tomorrow! “Kelsey,” you gasp in horror, “you’ve given away the whole article in the first sentence.” Don’t worry, beloved reader of PlayStation Blog, there is always more!

“So how is this different from the version of Minecraft I can already play on my PS4?” The difference is that the Bedrock version of Minecraft is the unified version of the game that offers the same experience across all consoles. All that glorious, unified code means that you’ll be playing the same game as your pals on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10, and mobile!* So, yes – that means you get cross-play between those different consoles. Not just that, PS4 players now also have access to the Minecraft Marketplace — a source for worlds, skins, mini-games, and mash up packs! So you’re going to have not just a better Minecraft experience than ever before, but more Minecraft than ever.

“What if I already own Minecraft on PS4, do I need to buy the game again to get the Bedrock version?” Short answer: No! The next time you start Minecraft, the new update will install automatically and free of charge. This update will never expire, and all game purchases after today for PS4 will always be for this new version.

We call this update ‘Buzzy Bees’ (or 1.14) and it’ll be arriving on PS4 tomorrow at 8am PST. Hope to see you in the Overworld soon!

*Cross-Play requires other platforms of Minecraft to be running update 1.14, including PS4 systems.

    Not Loving it. Now my sight line keeps moving up when standing still. Can I change back to old? Also I opted for PS4 to stay away from anything MS and now I’m forced to “Enjoy” their take on minecraft.

      This update removed all my shulker box and that had all my chap in them

      Relax. Editions is right there on the menu. You don’t have to play it if you don’t want to.

      Just loaded my map after the update. Looks great, new menus, etc. Appears like the new cheat mode is default ‘on’. So now I can’t earn trophies on the map I’ve been playing for months. Doh!

      My add commens button isn’t woking so this will have to do. Does anyone think a psvr edition is a possibility due to sony and microsoft’s joint effort to make minecraft a more diverse place. Although, we might see it on the bound to happen PS5 VR series due to the power needed. Just think. Minecraft vr on playstation 5 with ray tracing. Crisp vission. Please add comments to the box i am in. It would also be nice if Kelsey Howard responded to this reply as she works directly with the Monjang team.

    I have a lot of old worlds in the PS4 edition and when I try to play Bedrock version it forces me to remove many of them due to storage restrictions.
    Is this something that will be fixed in a future update? I don’t want to remove those worlds if I don’t have to…

    Why isnt realms available? I would have thought with this update being a year late, the folks at mojang/microsoft would gave at least included all the features of the game.

    When will realms be coming to PS4? I only play minecraft on realms so that my friends can get on WITHOUT having to wait on me. I was so excited about this until now… bummer waste of my time.

    I just tried plugging in my keyboard and mouse into my ps4 my keyboard seems to work but my mouse doesn’t…can anyone help me?

    I just bought the Doctor Who double pack two weeks ago. Now with the update I don’t have access to it or other packs I have purchased.

    I hate this new update so much, it’s so terrible, literally takes 5 minutes to get into my world, they ‘fixed’ the glitch with the elytra which was the only way ps4 people could crawl excluding water and we still cant crawl, so now I’m stuck inside a secret area of my base, the game just decides it doesnt want to sign me into my Microsoft account, and everything is too smooth for a game that’s supposed to be blocky, it has lost its touch, and I now hate minecraft, goodbye childhood, I’m pissed off, I apologise.

    A few observations after converting my main world, mostly specific to my world, but some general.

    – Most of my simple piston doors still work. A few need some rewiring, which in some cases may be hard because of lack of space within the build.
    – My flush piston doors still work too, but, the inputs needed to be touched a few times before they started working. Like something was resetting. These door mechanisms include a piston based flip-flop.
    – I have a flying machine based elevator. It had issues in Legacy where sometimes you’d fall through the floor. Now however it moves a few blocks and the just stops. Don’t know if I can fix this.
    – I have a lighthouse that turns on at dusk and off at dawn. Now it turns on and off seemingly at random. I can not explain this at all currently. Light sensor behaviour may be different. Can also have something to do with the comparator in the circuitry.

    I expect more redstone based issues in my redstone sandbox world, which I haven’t converted yet.

    Non-redstone issues:
    – I have a large underground area which is intentionally flooded. Now, at random spots, it’s not so flooded anymore. I assume I can fix this with a few buckets of water.
    – The End has been reset. Everything I’ve done there is gone. This is a big one. Very annoying.
    – Beacons have been reset.

    – Converted worlds don’t get you trophies. I can understand this, but it’s annoying, I don’t want to start all over again. (Already did that after the aquatic update. Took hundreds of hours to get everything back the way I had it.)
    This comes with an advantage though. You can switch to creative without penalty, and apply fixes / rebuild stuff in the End.

    A texture pack I bought last year for the PS4 console version is no longer available in my skins on Bedrock, but the same pack is now for sale in Bedrock. Is there a reason that this purchased texture skin, with is nothing fancy or dealing with crazy licensing issues, did not transfer over in my owned packs? Any advice?

    I’m a little worried because I have a lot of texture packs and I have lots of skin packs and when I loaded this up I don’t see any of that am I looking in the wrong place because I bought the Star Wars back cuz I want to be a little Ewok and I’m going to be a little annoyed if I can’t be my Ewok which I paid for

      After some hours of having my account attached to my Microsoft login, I found all my purchases (texture packs & skins) marked as “obtained” and available for playing. One extra info is that all was also available now on my Nintendo Switch account jeje. Seems like previous purchases will also be available on all other devices using Bedrock Edition.

    I can’t find my last comment I was going to update it and say it must have been a bug because the game locked up so I force closed it when I loaded it back up and then switch to the tab and it loaded all the previous skins that I had so disregard my last comment wherever it is because I can’t find it it seems to be working now sorry about that I was just a little worried cuz I didn’t know what the heck was going on.

    Beware the world conversion is not quite right yet. I’m glad it keeps the old version and you can switch back and forth. I assume that when I delete the buggy converted world you can reconvert it after bugs get ironed out?

    And other mechanisms seem to stutter and or misfire.

    Generally it all loads and runs a lot slower on ps4 pro. I guess it needs some more stability fixes :)

    I have the disc version of minecraft PS4 edition and updated it to bedrock but i can’t get the starter pack for it i don’t know if i’m supposed to but since the new disc versions have i think somethings wrong with my game.

    Since this new bedrock update on ps4 I’m missing multiple skin and texture packs. They show up in the shop as not purchased yet but in my add on folder in ps4 storage it shows them as purchased. Some of which I’ve already purchased multiple versions of on xbox360 ps3 and ps4… Now it wants me to repurchase them again?….

      I think it’s just a matter of time. First time I accessed the Bedrock edition on PS4 I just had one texture pack recovered from my previous purchases. After some hours (8 – 10) I found everything I purchased before was also marked as “OBTAINED” and I was able to play with all of them. Also, those were available on my Nintendo Switch account as well after that. I’m happy because I didn’t have to purchase them again.

    Anybody else know how trophy support will function going forward? I transfered an old world to the new bedrock update version and ‘cheat mode’ was pre-enabled, therefore making it impossible to get my last 2 main trophies for the platinum… it’d be really lame to think I have to play the old version for a while longer just to get my last 2 achievements, ‘the end?’ and ‘the end.’ I wanna play bedrock but not before figuring this out!

    I’ve read through TOO MANY comments to not ask this, but, if you update, and transfer a world that you’ve had for say, 5 years, will you still be able to get trophies on that world? I did this, and the settings menu tells me that Trophies cannot be earned in this world. I am worried!

    So many things were changed that make game play sucky. For example you can’t make the hot bar to a size that’s not tiny. And you can’t change to classic crafting anymore. Will these ever be added or fixed?

    I am very Angry and disappointed with this Update. I started building my own personal city about 3 years ago, at the edge of my map building outwards and with this new Update Half my city was destroyed by Biomes that where previously not there and now all the sudden smashed Into my world destroying and messing up much of the building I have made. There is No way to fix the map size or even attempt to go back to the old map size to try and fix everything. I am beyond angry and disappointed with this update especially because It is not PS4 Friendly. All the time and energy put into making a city has been literally smashed together losing so much of what I built and the Time taken to plan and actually build…….. i dont even wanna Play anymore because of this

    “Upgraded”? to the Bedrock edition. And I don’t like it, the menu set up, nothing feels intuitive, the controls. I’m fine with sticking with the old version, I don’t care if I don’t get any more updates.

    It looks like most of the mashup packs I paid for previously are now gone. Will I be getting refunds for those?
    Also, are the minigames gone? Glide and battle are 90% of what I did with my kids when playing this.

    After trying stuff a bit more, I find that I’m missing some options that I use a lot. Maybe I’m overlooking something.
    In creative I’m used to having the daylight cycle turned of, and switch to day and night manually. How do I switch to night?
    And in general, how do I turn off autosaving?

    Back again. I found out why some of my stuff works so badly, especially things like systems that are triggered by dawn. (Not full daylight, only dawn.) You have to be very nearby because of this ridiculous simulation distance of 4 chunks. And for some reason I can’t change it.
