PlayStation Plus Free Games for October: The Last of Us Remastered, MLB The Show 19

Your first look at next month's free PS Plus lineup, just revealed during State of Play.

PlayStation Plus members – we have a really big month for the October monthly PS4 games lineup to keep you entertained this fall. As announced on State of Play, we’re including two major blockbuster hits from Worldwide Studios with The Last of Us Remastered and MLB The Show 19.

Let’s dive right in.

The Last of Us Remastered

In anticipation of the next chapter of Naughty Dog’s epic adventure in The Last of Us Part II, now is your time to jump into in The Last of Us Remastered. Whether you have already played the game and want to relive Joel and Ellie’s epic journey – or experience it for the very first time, The Last of Us Remastered has you covered with both The Last of Us and The Last of Us: Left Behind.

The Last of Us takes place 20 years after a pandemic has radically changed civilization, where infected humans run wild and survivors kill each other for food, weapons – whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S.

In The Last of Us: Left Behind, new light is shed on Ellie’s relationship with Riley, her best friend and sometime-mentor from a military boarding school they grew up in together. After disappearing for weeks, Riley returns with a surprising revelation on her whereabouts. Ellie and Riley sneak out of school for the last time, leading to a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.

We hope this epic adventure will keep you entertained right before the sequel hits store shelves. In case you missed it, check out all of the details on The Last of Us Part II that were announced during State of Play, including a release date of February 21, 2020. The Last of Us Part II is available now for pre-order, so mark your calendars! [Updated launch date: June 19]

Or, speed-up full seasons with March to October, which lets you play only the biggest and most exciting games to focus on getting your team to the postseason and beyond in less time. You can also create your own player and rise through the MLB ranks with Road to the Show or play against others as baseball’s greatest stars and legends in Diamond Dynasty.

There will be new content dropping in October for MLB The Show 19, which includes the legendary Ted Williams, one of the greatest players of all time. You can also unlock rewards by reliving moments from the 2019 Postseason and the most memorable moments of all time.

To celebrate The Show being on PS Plus for the first time, SDS is also giving away free in-game content for those who download and log into the game between October 1st and October 31st. To get your Show experience started right go redeem and open five free packs. These packs include a Diamond player for your Diamond Dynasty squad and equipment for your created player in Road to the Show!

  • Honestly, based on the whole situation with PES it’s not smart that you then decide to put up MLB The Show. Yes MLB is popular in US and some few other places. However it’s far from the same scale in the rest.
If you want to please the wider audience (and therefor changed PES to another) then this is a poor decision. However if you are just trying to please your US consumers then it is a good choice.

That is the sad reality these days. Please the people of one country, because they are definitely the only people who pay for the service. /sarcasm (I know some people will not spot sarcasm, even the obvious)
Just a small rant about the lack of equal treatment across countries.

Anyway beside that, perhaps it could be a fun game, so in all honesty I don’t mind it. Haven’t played a baseball game since the old ones. That is if we don’t count minigames like the ones in Persona and such.

  • Great month…. for the 3 people who never played Last of Us. For everyone else, theres MLB, which I would like to get excited about, but definitely wont because all sports games are just vehicles for selling microtransaction card packs or whatever. Big pass.

  • Keep mlb the show. last of us is ok not great sucks we lost PES few months back for Detroit most boring game ever

  • Been disappointed last couple of months, but its a lottery -you win some, you lose some. I just hope Sony starts listening to some of the suggestions (not the ridiculous ones for recently released AAA’s) but something that would make the majority happy, not just the selected few.

  • So you pull out PES and put MLB in few months later? At least give me back PES instead of this crap.

  • Eww, a sports game. This month gonna suck, I already got Last of Us remastered and I hate sports games.

  • I believe that every time you decide to add a sports game, you should give players a choice among two or three sports. You could give a choice between a baseball game and a football game (the one that it’s actually played with your feet). For example, if you gave us a choice between PES and MLB, I would be OK with that (as long as you give us the latest one, and not too close to the end of its cycle).

  • This is just mediocre, alot of europe people dont even understand baseball, and putting a sport game in this month instead of a halloween based game or PES? Only one word for this: “Wow”, isnt worth my money anymore, to support games that got trashed ages ago, eventho Sony doesnt read the complains and gives a big finger. So they just pick random stuff and leave the comments on unread. :thumbupemoji:

    • I missed that there isn’t a Halloween game. Didn’t we get killing floor 2 around this time last year? Not Halloween but at least big on zombies.

  • Not my line up. I have the last of us, and it’s great, but this was a PS3 game before the era of PS4. Why is a 5 year old game here? Those that want to play it in all likelihood already have it. I’m sure that some people here haven’t and are happy that it’s available, but they are a minority. On the bright side, maybe the fusion of new players will mean I’m not playing the same players in tlou factions.

I can’t really comment on the sports game cause I’m not into those but at least it’s recent. I’ll add it to the library, but I hope it’s the last sports game of the year.

  • Been a Plus member for the better part of a decade and this is the… what? Third time The Last of Us has been the free game? And then MLB? … who’s that for? Certainly not most gamers.

    • You’re wrong. Because I’ve also been a ps plus member just as long so jog on. TLOU is phenomenal and you’re taste is bad if you don’t like it.

  • I have never actually played the last of us and never planned to get it because I did not want to spend money on something I might not like now I get to play it

As for the sports game not very excited about that but also dont really care

And to the Americans that say i can just buy the game remember this I’m in Canada while you pay 60 for a new game i have to pay 80 on average i have found our games cost about 20 dollars more then yours

  • I’ll gladly play through The Last of Us again. I never got to play the DLC anyway. But MLB? Really? Not only a sports game, but a sport that’s only hugely popular in one country. Come on guys, you can do better than that.

  • MLB? Pls nooooo.
I’d rather have any other game but this one!

  • Ok i try to be nice but the things i seen on youtube scare me
So no sports games please plus they microtransactions in every sports game and if you look atNBA2k20 HAS GAMBLING so i don’t trust them at all.
    Youtube angry joe

Last of us is ok game i guess but you can do better

  • Yet another epic fail. Everyone enjoy your playstation 3 game of years past with nostalgia, and a baseball game that you’ll never touch.

  • Although I own The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 I’m super stoked that they are giving this out. I recently got back into the online and I’m loving it. I hope this brings more people to the online community and hopefully even some new people. The multiplayer is one of the best multiplayers out there and I feel that maybe if more people try it, and enjoy it maybe they’ll actually give us one of TLOU2. Losing out on the MP is devastating. I look forward to seeing you on MP PSN community.

  • This is pretty disappointing to me, but I’m sure it’s exciting to a lot of people too. It’s October, I used to be able to look forward to cool horror or Halloween themed games from plus in October. Instead they’re sliding in an old game just to try and sell the upcoming sequel, and a baseball game. I’m sure mlb it’s cool to a lot of ppl, and any other month I wouldn’t care (honestly I’ll never even download it either way, but it’s not all about me lol), buy imo October should be horror games. Not just a push for pre-orders.

  • I don’t care at all for baseball, nor any sport. But still I’d rather try a sport game (even not knowing anything at all of it) than playing TLOU which I’d never gave more than a 7.5 … one of the most overrated games ever.
If complaining at this blog does anything, which I know it won’t, I’d like to change TLOU for any other game… leave MLB I might try it, but again that overrated cliché no thank you…

    • I love NBA, Madden, FIFA, all of that, I’ve always wanted to play MLB or NHL but haven’t gotten the chance. And to think I’ve never played the last of us. Excited as hell lol.

  • Hey

  • Niiiiiiice!!!!

  • Cool stuff!

  • No credit?

  • Great ps plus games!

  • Idk why why everyone has to make a big deal about little errors that are easily fixable. PlayStation, Sony, And PSPlus has done a TREMENDOUS job of releasing games ever since people were angry and they release the Detroit Become Human and Heavy Rain titles. We just weren’t getting enough, and people that swore by X-Box always said “you guys get bum games for online use, we get every free EA game.” These 4-6 full games they have released for FREE since Detroit have BLOWN X-Box online users out of the water. These are excellent and thank you sooooo much Sony/PlayStation Plus. You keeping me and a lot of other people happy and entertained !!!! Free is the best price !!!! Haha

  • I think Sony should release free PS Vr games from playstation plus
