PS Plus: Games for March, Additional Service Changes

Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank headline March's free games lineup.

March is just around the corner, along with spring and some really great games. Let’s see what’s coming to PS Plus next week!

First up, we have the award-winning action RPG Bloodborne. Hunt your nightmares as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

PS Plus

Next, we have Ratchet & Clank. Get acquainted (or reacquainted) with some of the greatest heroes in PlayStation history. Based on elements from the original Ratchet & Clank (PS2), Ratchet & Clank brings Insomniac’s classic, out-of-this-world-gameplay to the PS4. Join Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and their new friends as they battle to save the Solana Galaxy. Armed with an arsenal of original weapons the franchise is renowned for, including the new Pixelizer and fan-favorites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron, you’ll explore the galaxy and get a deeper look at the origin story of these two beloved characters.

This month’s PlayStation Plus lineup also includes:

  • Legend of Kay, PS3
  • Mighty No. 9, PS3 (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Claire: Extended Cut, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Bombing Busters, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)

For fans of Dungeon Defenders II, we also have the Dungeon Defenders PS Plus Pack available starting March 13 to April 10 for PS Plus members. This pack contains 4 Shadow Costumes, 1 Million in gold, 5 Campaign Shard Packs, 5 Defender Packs, and a Ninja Gato Pet. Get your hands on this PS Plus Pack and jump into the action.

We also have an important service update. Starting next year on March 8, 2019, the PS Plus monthly games lineup will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles. This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8, 2019.

Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world. We’ll continue to prioritize the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, online game save storage, PS4 monthly games, and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services. As a reminder, if you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before March 8, 2019.

There are plenty of new games and exclusive PS Store discounts to come for PS Plus members, and we look forward to sharing this with you in our ongoing monthly blog posts. As always, we thank you for your continued support.

  • Being a PSVR user, I am bummed there is no offering this month. I was loving the bi-monthly games. Here is hoping they make an announcement later.
On topic, this month is just flat out amazing!

  • You hear that Vita?! You got one year and then you’re dead! Dead, you hear me!?!

  • So…Just to confirm.

March 2019 is still getting 2 PS3 and 2 PSV titles which will be available from March 5th to March 7th?

Since March 5th is the first Tuesday of that month, I was just verifying that there will be titles for those 3 days as the last Hurrah to the PS3 and PSV systems! :)

Thanks guys, and while it stinks for the PS3/PSV, I do presume the quality of PS4/PSVR (and PS5 in the next 2-3 years?) PS Plus titles will only improve in quality going forward.

Here’s to hoping we get some extra added Plus Perks like limited Vue/Now support each month.

    or PSP/PS1/PS2/PSV titles on PS4. That’d be nice. :)

  • Awesome! 2 AAA titles this month for PS4! Now that’s more like it! That’s what I loved about PS+ on PS3 because by time it was first introduced (in 2011 I believe, at least that’s when you got 12 free AAA games for signing up anyway) the PS3’s library was already very large so there were nothing but full retail AAA titles every month up until the PS3 started to decline due to the PS4.

  • When are you guys going to REMASTER SOCOM?!!

  • Maybe they’ve called it a day for PS3 and Vita knowing in 2020 we’ll be getting our first PS5 game on Plus.

    • I just think they should have supported the PS3 until the PS5 games started coming with PS+. Vita should have been replaced by PSVR.

They could have transitioned slowly with a period of time where we get 2 PS4 games, 2 PS3 games, 1 PSVR game, & 1 Vita game. Then when the PS5 came out give us 2 PS4 games, 2 PS5 games, & 2 PSVR games.

This COULD have been handled amicably. This announcement could have been met with fanfare and celebration. Instead, PlayStation seems to have let success to inflate their ego yet again.

    • @Gideon
Vita still gets new games. It has new games coming to it throughout the year. The PS3 stopped getting annual sports games last year. The last non-sports game it got (as far as I know) was Persona 5. Your’s isn’t the first comment I read about how dropping PS3 is surprising but Vita makes sense. Even though people talk about Vita as a failed system, it likely sold twice as fast as VR by this time. I’m pretty confident that there are more people playing Vita, in the NA/EU regions, than playing Playstation VR. I’ll go out on a limb and say that there are more people playing PS3 than VR.

  • Bring back the day one indies sony.

  • I have had my Vita for a while and I love downloading new games on my PS plus and buying new games for it, it’s sad.
It’s basically a big middle finger to the lower and middle class ppl that find it hard to make ends meet and to keep their children happy when times are tuff, when they can’t afford a £350 head set VR or a £250 ps4 pro. They can only settle for the low ps3 or vita.

Don’t get me wrong I am going to be keeping my vita but I will not be subscribing to PS plus again. Sorry but for Sony it’s all about the money. Saying ppl only play on PS4? What about the working class ppl that take their PS Vitas to work with them? I know I do.

    • Sony you are giving a lot of PS fans and working class ppl that can’t afford a ps4 or PS VR the middle finger because of your greed, most ppl can not afford the £50 games so look forward to your PS plus on their PS 3 and PS Vitas.

You are going to piss a lot of ppl off by doing this

    • It is a shame but to be honest they have to move on also if a PS5 would come in the next 4 years

the reality they will offer great discounts to purchase those PS3 games ( and can play them on your PS3 or PSnow) or PSvita also will see discounts

  • Nice! I platinumed Ratchet & Clank already, but I never played Bloodborne.

  • A fantastic month to be sure but not if you own both already. :/

  • So i bought a Ps4 for Monster Hunter World and was searching for some new games recently. Since i was a console player some years ago and i loved the title Ratched and Clank on PS2 i decided to buy it 3 days ago and as i was in a rush i bought Bloodborne too because i was interested in testing the title. All in all im owning 3 Ps4 Games right now and i was not planning for more for some time but congratz to me i wasted 60$ for the exact games that are for free with PS+ right now. I knew i’ve got a talent
Can I at least get some Feelsbadman ?

Love you all, have a great day !

    Greetings from Germany :)

  • Your basically saying in your statement if you don’t want to be a part of this change cancel your PS plus and screw off lol very nice Sony very nice lol

  • WOOT WOOT! Keep it up with these awesome games!

  • BB is undoubtedly one of the best games of the generation, and ratchet was pretty fun (+ nostalgia points). Unfortunately I own both, but what a great month for people who don’t!

  • I dig this lineup, I’ve never played any of these games. Also thanks for the the 1 year warning, it’s rad to know there’s 12 months of free games to add to my ps3.

  • Sony I can not express how much I love you for releasing these games in this month. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU SONY

  • Great line up, awesome gift for my birthday month :)

  • At least I want to expect great ps3 games for the last 12 months… do it in a big way as a big farewell for these great console…

  • As a devout PS+ customer since day one I am not ok with this. You can’t just strip away 2/3 of the games you’re offering us without expanding the service and expect us to be fine with it.

PS3 games should have been supported until we started getting two PS5 games each month.
Vita games should have been supported until we started getting two PSVR games each month.

This should have been a simple, smooth transition. Not this.

    • No offence but this made me laugh so hard as for PS5 won’t be releasing anytime soon how many launched titles did you expect it to have when it did 1000 ?

You will be playing be PS4 remasters on it as I don’t think it will even support BC that’s what PSnow is for and that’s why they are making the transition for all PS4 games to go to that service at some stage

    • Are you going to help Sony pay the developers/publishers to offer the games? They’re ending the service because they’re not getting a return on investment. The cost of doing it is more than the money they’re getting from non-PS4 owners. I know it sucks but no company chooses to lose money.

  • No more PS3 games because theyll be adding PS5 ones to the list that year

    • There is no PS5 coming next year and Sony has released the PS4pro to extend that cycle I would not expect to see one till 2021 at the most

    • I honestly WISH that were true but thats simply not the case… they released the PS4 Pro 3 years after PS4 and PSVR 2.0 1 year after PSVR. Why wouldnt they release PS5 3 years after PS4 Pro especially since the Pro isnt even a real upgrade since its still limited by the fact that games cant be made for it that wont work on the original PS4 anyway

  • Great line up although have both of those awesome games , not affected by PS3 or PSVita bring on them discounts instead

  • Hi. I read in another report that the intent is to reduce the free games per month from 6, as it is currently, to 2 once PS3 and Vita games are no longer offered in 2019. While I realize that the PS3 and Vita are older, legacy consoles, many of us purchased the PSPlus service under the understanding that we would be getting 6 games per month. Many of us have also pre-purchased PSPlus subscriptions in advance of price hikes under the assumption that the number of free games offered would continue to be 6.

I would suggest that one way of addressing this would be to offer more than two free games per month. Perhaps at least 3, with one being a PSVR title? Another sweetener would be to offer additional content for PS4 games, such as was recently done for Gems of War, in addition to the free games.

    Live long and prosper
    IDIC

  • I was expecting another PSVR bonus game. Maybe later?

  • THE BEST PS+ MONTH EVER… HANDS DOWN!!!

  • I’d be mad, but I don’t think I actually played anything on my PS3 other than the occasional Minecraft for a few years. Still though, it doesn’t feel right paying $10 more than I did a few years ago while only getting a third of the games I used to.

  • Wow, I kept reading that as “March 8th, 2018” and not 2019. Scared the shiitake out of me and my year sub there. This is incredibly disheartening given that I only use PS3 and have no plans to get a PS4.

At the very least, I have quite the nice game collection for PS3 now between discounts and freebies – I’d always wanted to try Mighty No.9 but given its quality, didn’t want to commit the funds, so as with last month’s Mugen Z, it’s nice to see another Japanese game I’d love to play.

Same as with Demon’s Souls ending last night, it’s a shame to see these “services” go down, but I understand that time passes and people (though not I) move on eventually. Were I to have any wish regarding the remaining PS3 month on PS Plus, I’d just ask that we get some nice stuff to sendoff my PS3 like Folklore, an Atelier game, maybe the first Trails of Cold Steel, or Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN, or Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires? Something non-Japanese is fine too so long as it’s something like Heavy Rain or a game of similar caliber.

  • I was sad to hear that PlayStation will stop the PS3 and Vita games. I am a legacy gamer and I still play all three systems, I do wonder if we will get more PlayStation 4 games or if we will still only get two games. Are they cutting the number games at they’re giving to us as a PlayStation plus member, am I losing value?

  • So you raise the price last year and now trim the offerings this year. Such hubris is what clipped the Xbone at the knees.

  • Ratch and Clank was awesome..

so… do I want to claim bloodborne in case I someday lose all sanity and taste in video games… or do I not claim Bloodborne and never have to deal with questions of ‘well you own it, why not play it?’…. that is the question…

  • Does this mean Sony will be able to focus on developing new games for PS4

  • Does Bloodbourne include the dlc

  • So this means Sony Interactive Entertainment will have more time and money to develop newer IP’s for PlayStation 4 for example the Spyro remake ?

  • You man’s are doing bits, that’s what I want to see. Now what about fixing the stagnant features of the ps4 pro.

  • Cool service changes – I don’t think I’ll be renewing as soon as my subscription is up.

  • Its a good month but a shame about ps3/vita even though i have been waiting for this to happen and could you let plus members pick what games they would like on ps3/vita .

  • Wouldn’t they have had to give us actual Vita games to take them away?
All l ever saw were PS3 or PS4 games that had a Vita version through crossbuy, which was also usually the crappiest & poorly optimized version.

  • The elimination of the older generation games in 2019, while not unexpected is disheartening. Expect that ps Plus subscribers will be required to pay the same (or more) for the service and receive less value. This is just Sony maximizing revenue at the expense of gamers. Hardly a positive development. Best enjoy it while it lasts.

  • Its great month but not for me . Already got bloodborne n not a big fan of animal shooting . Maybe will recharge ps plus in april . Finger cross . Till thn i will play single player games . 3rd disappointed month for me .

  • Vita’s life matters!!

Increasing the price of the service was for improve it, not for cut it…

  • As someone who worries about online services and trying to do trophies on PS3/Vita/PS4 before a server shutdown, what does the end for PS3/Vita games on PS+ after March 2019 mean for the online services for those platforms? Will that be the beginning of the end for their online services since Sony is wanting to focus on PS+ having PS4/PS VR then?

  • If that’s the case, then you guys should do PS3 classics and maybe port some of the Vita exclusives over to the PS4 since you say a lot of people are playing on the PS4. And don’t say you got PS Now for us. That’s an overpriced service with a chance of lagging so much. Not a lot of people have the best internet speed. Also please continue doing PS1 and PS2 classics.

  • Charging more while providing less is a very Konami-esque move.

  • Great line up, and I agree on letting go of PS3 and Vita games in Plus. But this also makes me come to a possible future decision as to what to purchase next. Will PS5 allow me to play PS4 games on it? While I have begrudgingly accepted when PS3 (not the first generation) did not play PS2 games and when PS4 did not play PS3 games. But if PS5 doesn’t play PS4 games, I might see as to what the competition is doing. Also, I am waiting to see if Sony announces anything handheld in the upcoming E3. I want a new handheld (and have been a little disappointed with the games on PS Vita with lack of games like GTA). I need either a Vita 2 or some type of portable PS4 (and no, Remote play or streaming does not count); otherwise, I might consider getting Switch this year, which has shown that AAA games can be played on a handheld. I hope that Sony makes the right moves this year with a handheld announcement at E3, and a PS5 announcement (that is BC with PS4) in the next year or two.

  • Bloodborne is one of the best game on the PS4 and one of the greatest games I have ever played in my life. If you haven’t played it you need to now.

  • I am pretty sure the Vita will boom in 2019.

  • Can’t wait to invade some fresh hunter blood.

  • Not like you guys were giving us good Vita (or PS3 or PS4) games anyway. Most months the games are just forgettable. March’s Bloodborne is an exception. The PS Plus games when it started where pretty good but it just got worse and worse over time.

  • Wow Bloodborne, and the 2016 remake of Ratchet&Clank for free that sounds awesome I wonder what will be the next game for free that might show up and most likely wanna play Uncharted the Nathan Drake Collection,Until Dawn,or how about batman Return to Arkham

  • So i have already got bloodborne didnt need ps plus from last 3 months . . In april god of war will release so why do i need ps plus in march and april ? I am playing assassins creed origin , need for speed pay back n parsona 5 .

  • good month but i bought mighty no 9…. also i’m kinda bummed about no more PS3 and Ps Vita game after next year’s date rolls around… still this is a make up from januray well done.
