PS Plus: Games for March, Additional Service Changes

Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank headline March's free games lineup.

March is just around the corner, along with spring and some really great games. Let’s see what’s coming to PS Plus next week!

First up, we have the award-winning action RPG Bloodborne. Hunt your nightmares as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

PS Plus

Next, we have Ratchet & Clank. Get acquainted (or reacquainted) with some of the greatest heroes in PlayStation history. Based on elements from the original Ratchet & Clank (PS2), Ratchet & Clank brings Insomniac’s classic, out-of-this-world-gameplay to the PS4. Join Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and their new friends as they battle to save the Solana Galaxy. Armed with an arsenal of original weapons the franchise is renowned for, including the new Pixelizer and fan-favorites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron, you’ll explore the galaxy and get a deeper look at the origin story of these two beloved characters.

This month’s PlayStation Plus lineup also includes:

  • Legend of Kay, PS3
  • Mighty No. 9, PS3 (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Claire: Extended Cut, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Bombing Busters, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)

For fans of Dungeon Defenders II, we also have the Dungeon Defenders PS Plus Pack available starting March 13 to April 10 for PS Plus members. This pack contains 4 Shadow Costumes, 1 Million in gold, 5 Campaign Shard Packs, 5 Defender Packs, and a Ninja Gato Pet. Get your hands on this PS Plus Pack and jump into the action.

We also have an important service update. Starting next year on March 8, 2019, the PS Plus monthly games lineup will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles. This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8, 2019.

Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world. We’ll continue to prioritize the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, online game save storage, PS4 monthly games, and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services. As a reminder, if you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before March 8, 2019.

There are plenty of new games and exclusive PS Store discounts to come for PS Plus members, and we look forward to sharing this with you in our ongoing monthly blog posts. As always, we thank you for your continued support.

  • Best lineup in ages, possibly ever? I already have Bloodborne (though I’ve yet to take the plunge) and R&C (got the plat, had a blast) but to anyone who doesn’t have these, what a treat!

I love that PS4 only support has finally been announced. We’re four years into this generation, it’s time to start focusing on it. I’m sure some future titles will be Vita / PS3 crossbuys as they are now, so that’ll hopefully help out those who don’t have a PS4 yet.

    • Time to start focusing on it you say?…what a joke.Sony did nothing but throw the PS3 and Vita aside and focus on the PS4 since its goddamn launch.

  • Fantastic lineup! Definitely one of the best since I’ve been a member (4 or so years). Also, letting everyone know about the upcoming changes regarding PS3 and Vita an entire year ahead of time was very courteous. Good job Sony!

  • I guess I finally get to torture myself with Bloodborne

  • how about adding movies to the playstation plus? how about just announcing a new portable system at that time and begin its IGC?

  • This is a great line up

However, I prefered when we’d get indie titles on their release day. The problem with AAA games is they’ll be given to PS+ users when they’re down to 10-20$ during sales. If a game has been out for 2-3+ years and is down to 20$ and I didn’t buy it already. That’s because I’m not interested by it.

  • This months games look amazing, haven’t played any of them so I’m waiting to have a great time when they will be available, as I heard good compliments to the game.

  • Wow!! Five games for PS4 this month!! Bloodborne looks awesome and Ratchet & Clank looks fun. The past few months have offered some fun games.

  • This is Amazing keep up the great work SIE!

  • Not bad. Wish I had a PS4 for this. Been wanting to play Bloodborne. The Vita and PS3 games seem ok enough. Might check them out. As for the stopping of PS3 and Vita games — sad to hear, and yet another reason for me not to renew. I’d have no real use for it by that point as I only have a PS3 and a Vita.

  • If you own an HDR ready TV, Ratchet and Clank will blow you away.

  • Just for clarification, after March 2019 if a PS4 game is added that is available on PS3 and/or Vita with cross-buy you’d still get access to all versions, right?

  • You better have some plans to make up for it. You can’t put the price up £10 and take away 4 games and where’s the VR title this month? I thought I’d always subscribe but I’m having second thoughts now.

  • I’m royally ****ed off with the news. But I’ll keep my cool and say: make this last year one to remember.

But this month is not really amazing.

  • Definitely getting the PS4 games. Awesome month.

  • Finally!!!
    insert thank you gif

  • I thought we would get a new VR this month too or is that next month?

  • So that means a Vita 2 announcement this year with a 2019 release? Right? Right??

    • Very unlikely. They already had multiple times been asked and said they have no interest in the mobile market as of now. Sorry bud

    • Sincerely I cannot understand y’all asking for another portable. After the Vita fiasco and by Vita fiasco I mean Sony not supporting it…I truly cannot understand why y’all even think that Sony has plans to make another portable. That just ain’t happening anytime soon.

  • bloodborne and ratchet are amazing games,.. which is why i played them over a year ago.

    WORST MONTH EVER!!

jk kind of. but serious, really old AAA games is a waste to me. if i haven’t played it by now i never intend to. gimme more digital only games free at launch. that is where ps+ is really valuable.

good riddance to ps3 and psvita games. a year from now is too long. ps3 will have been replaced 5.5 years ago by then. i like that you supported the old generation for a while but 4 years is plenty to migrate to the next gen.

  • Best ps plus month ever!!!

  • Nintendo switch is the new ps vita. If you have seen there game that are ps4 and switch only. So soon you will see jrpg as ps4 and switch combo. Indie dev will do ps4 and switch combo like they did with ps4 and ps vita combo. Do you think lot of dev that do vita and ps4 combo will move over to switch and do ps4 and switch combo?

  • This is a fantastic month, the only game I own is Ratchet and clank! I once had bloodborne but never played it so it’s cool to get it back and finally play it!

  • Already got the plat for R&C and Bloodborne but this lineup is pretty dang good, enjoy peeps.

  • very good month, sad news its about ps3 and vita playstation plus games, anyways no videos this month so i can upvote or like

  • I think for April they should add either a COD game or either the Uncharted Collection.

    • I could see the Uncharted Collection maybe, but its been on sale for like $7-10? quite alot and those games are easily worth full price imo

    • CoD game?…lol activision does not allow CoD for free. And those recycled games like the UC collection should have been free since launch for everyone so adding them to the Plus which is a service is an offense.Injustice recycled was enough.

  • Hopefully this means better ps4 titles and indie titles and maybe free movie too?

  • Wow! Another amazing month of games! Thank you, PS Plus. I’m stoked for all of these especially Ratchet and Clank and Claire!

  • Nice! Another impressive month of PS4 games. Despite the overwhelming praise for Bloodborne, it just wasn’t the type of game I’m really into, but I’ll certainly try it out for free. I might be surprised and really enjoy it like I did with Knack, a great game which I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did. Ratchet and Clank I would have picked up on sale eventually, but free is even better!

I saw “Additional Service Changes” in the headline and thought surely Sony can’t be increasing the PS+ price so soon after the last one. The dropping of PS3 and Vita makes complete sense IMO. Before I finally moved to PS4 from PS3 a few months ago I thought for the previous year that I was surprised Sony was still offering PS+ games for the PS3 (and even more surprised they did the same for Vita).

  • It’s a shame to eliminate PS3 and Vita games from the PS plus subscription. Why don’t you just release old games, even if they were released before. Most users do not have all the psn plus games that have been released over time. I would surely keep a subscription if Sony did that. There was a lot of good games released over the previous years.

  • Don’t care at al for Bloodborne, But R&C is cool I guess, will probably “get ” it, but it’ll likely be a while before I bother to play it, Monster Hunter World is taking up my time, then you have Far Cry 5 next month, I also want SAO GGO Edition, and Little With Academia whenever it releases…….yeah I got better games to play…….Plus side more games for my Vita though, it’ll need some until I get the money to buy more….

  • Cool, never played those games. These are not my favorite types of games, but big titles nonetheless.

  • Nice lineup for March there Sony!

  • Please, in this PS3’s and VITA’s last free games year, add AAA games. At least, 1 per month. PLEASE. Gave to this console a great goodbye!

  • Well for all of those people that wondered where are the games for PS Vita & PS3 now hear comes the complaining I bet. And for those that don’t feel like like upgrading to a PS4 I guess you have no choice but play the old systems with no new games coming to the portable and console or finally upgrade a tough decision for a lot of people.

  • wish there was a way to atleast get some money back i own all of these games

  • Nice. I may download and try out bloodborne because i never really cared about it, but i have heard its a great game that takes a lot of skill. So glad that ps is stepping up their actions for free games.

  • Bad news everyone. Polygon confirmed that after 2019 there will be offering only 2 PS4 games a month. So don’t expect much anymores.

  • sweet, Bloodborne is one of my favorite games, and i always wanted to play ratchet and clank, but never got around to it

  • Shame. Shame. Shame. No more ps3 or vita games. No more investing in consoles you so proudly sold us,only two games that will suck like the normal junk we recive but no ps3 or vita games to run to.
I still play my vita and stay loyal althogh new consoles ate out there, i am loyal with two consoles, old and new generation. At least invest with some 2 good vr games.
Where are the new vr game in this march?

  • WHERE IS WIPEOUT VR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O_O !!! it hurts to wait! lol!

  • Obviously I’m disappointed that PS3 & Vita games will no longer be included with my PS Plus subscription. Does this mean you’ll be increasing the number of free PS4 games per month? Can you at least replace the PS3/Vita games with some PSVR titles? Doing so will help take the sting off of this news and encourage additional support for the service and PSVR.

    • Nope, they clarified on twitter that all they’re doing is removing the PS3/PSV titles, and replacing them with nothing. So 2 PS4 games and the occasional bonus PSVR game, for the same price as before.

  • Getting rid of PS3 and PSV games is disappointing, but arguably reasonable given the age of the systems and the somewhat depleted catalog of new titles to draw from.

What *isn’t* reasonable is doing just that, cutting those games off, and just offering 2 PS4 games while charging the same higher-than-it-used-to-be price. Make it 2 “big” games and 2 smaller games for PS4, and that would be fair. This? That’s not ok.

To speak from my own experience for example, this month the two “headlining” games are great! But I already own them, so I get no value from them. I do, however, get value from Mighty No. 9 and Claire, which are cross-buy for the PS4. And I’m sure others are and have been in similar circumstances.

  • Finally a great AAA title on ps+…. and its one I already own, lol. At least others will enjoy it. Here’s to hoping it”‘ll lead to a trend.

  • I knew this day would come but I’m still not happy that it’s here. Since you are cutting the free games for ps3 and vita will ps plus be lowered in price or are you going to charge us the same amount for less content? If you don’t lower the price I will refuse to renew my subscription.

  • Thanks, Sony! This is super awesome.I already bought Bloodbourne and it’s in the massive backlog library of games. I’ve only had the PS4 for 3 months. I was about to buy Ratchet and Clank but glad I head off. Thanks for the head up for the PS3/Vita games and I totally support it. I have been in favor of you doing for months now and I was still playing the PS3. I enjoy the PS Plus games and yes some months stink but overall it’s a great program to be a part of and it’s a great value.

  • Bloodborne is phenomenal. I have the DLC but haven’t played it yet. Great time to get back in when online picks up again in March. Ratchet is great too. Now this is a line up folks. Good job Sony.

  • Wow, excellent games for March!!

  • Sad that the PS3 and Vita won’t get any attention anymore. Totally understandable but still sad. On that note though, does that mean we’ll only get 2 games instead of 6? Seems like we’re losing a LOT there, especially since a lot were cross-buy. A lot of people already complain that the price isn’t worth what you get so I hope they’ll make up for it somehow. It sounds like they already anticipated the outrage by mentioning how to cancel your subscription though. On another note, this lineup is really awesome, especially the PS4 offerings. If they do continue only doing two for the PS4 I hope they’ll bring us great selections like this.

  • Wow! They weren’t kidding with the rumors that this was going to be the best month. What a month, indeed!!

Two big retail games, Mighty No 9, buster bomber spiritual successor, and claire. Even though I already beat bloodborne, DAYUM.

This has been a hell of a year for Plus so far Sony, keep it up!!!

  • Can you guys announce the removal of systems from the PS+ every month? Months like this is one way to quell the violence from the masses.

  • I feel bad for the people that think there will be any improvements or added benefits to the customers. You must be new to playstation. They never add, only remove.
