A New Year and a new set of games coming to PlayStation Plus members! This month we have the excellent Day of the Tentacle Remastered and This War of Mine: The Little Ones.

First up, we have the zany Day of the Tentacle Remastered. This is a mind-bending, time traveling, puzzle adventure in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world. Originally released in 1993, this remastered game is a classic and not be missed.

Now, if you are looking for something a bit more serious, look no further than This War of Mine: The Little Ones. Play as a group of civilians trying to survive in a city under siege while struggling to collect food and medicine. Make life-and-death choices driven by your conscience, while dealing with the constant dangers of war.

    Not sure why so many people are moaning about these games. I’ve played This War of Mine on PC and it is really good, and Tim Scafer’s games are normally pretty fun as well.

    What exactly would you want instead?

      They want AAA games, of course. I’m looking forward to This War of Mine and Titan Souls. Definitely getting my monthly $4 worth out of those 2 games.

    Not bad. Day of the Tentacle is a classic, This War of Mine is poignant, Titan Souls is a fun challenge, and The Swindle looks interesting. Blazerush doesn’t really seem my speed, but reviews are alright.
    But a match 3 game is not something I can see myself ever playing on Vita. I have a mobile for that sort of thing.

    As a 40+ years old gamer, I don’t mind seeing Day of the Tentacle, but we need Maniac Mansion first ;).

    Also, since I live in a remote region, I would appreciate titles like Ni No Kuni and RDR to be available outside of the PSNow service. Honestly, I’m not satisfied with my PS+ account andall the good titles are on PSNow.

    Not gonna lie, these games have not been for me the past few months. But… I’m buying a lot of discounted games as of late and the Plus membership has been helping with that.

    Wow, this is actually a good month! I’ve been meaning to get This War Of Mine for a while now, and DOTT has been one of my favorite games since my old pc days. Glad to see we are getting actual good games, and not just whatever indie titles were cheapest for them to aquire.

    Not sure if its already been mentioned but was Titan Soul not given away early on in the year? I have it in my collection I don’t think I paid for it.

    I played This War Of Mine over Xmas as it was cheap on Steam. It’s good (bloody depressing tho). It was also featured in the London Design Museum and nominated for a design award.

    I´ve only downloaded Journey and Titan Souls since I have PS Plus (the whole 2016) and I´m really dissapointed.

    It’s funny reading kindergarten gamers whine about indie rubbish. Day of the Tentacle is a hallowed, classic game from way back.

    That said, the remastered version makes it look prettier. Yet it’s honestly that not funny or even fun to play in 2017. The humor is amusing at best and not very memorable. It’s the kind of nostalgic game that people fawn over but can’t came out and really identify anything great about it. By comparison, the Longest Journey, which came out in 1999 (6 years after DoTT) is a truly awesome point and click adventure, the Citizen Kane of them all, even if it’s ugly as sin by today’s standards.

    Finally, considering DoTT has already been discounted prettier heavily a number of times, I’d have to agree that it’s rubbish as Free Game for Plus. And yes, it is very fair to call it a FREE game FOR Plus.

    They should make playstation online free and people who like ps plus lineup buy their subscription this “you buy ps plus or else you don’t get to play online” leans to fascism, with playstation network being unstable, causing errors and prone to hacks.

    We need to vote with our wallet simple as that. They are having their cake and eating it too, they want to get the plus dollars from PS4 online held hostage gamers. They want the subs for PS3 and vita gamers that don’t pay for online anyways. They want to charge more and offer no new features or value for money.

    Even if you own all 3 platforms the value is just not there for average adult users 3 years into the PS4.

    Why don’t they improve the psn? The online service and features to even parity to Xbox?

    Why don’t they offer games people want? Why do they offer no ps+ discount on indie game x versus give away the rental off a game they tricked you into buying after 3 sales?

    Because we pay for it. $70 is not enough value for online for me in Canada. I don’t care about the majority of the other offerings and while the discounts can be relevant, physical is a better deal often, one you can reclaim hardrive space or sell on etc.

    Delay all your games for the 4th year running as well Sony, oh I should just play destiny right sure.

    For the guy that claims if we are dissatisfied with plus half of us sub to streamer s1uts on twitch then goes on a detailedd explanation of his dark souls twitch habits and some “funny” streamer he obviously wants to sub to.

    You see all this value in a service that you imply people are dumping money on and you are not, one that is optional and ad supported anyways, yet people that are locked into a year of plus and or are held hostage for gated online that is only better than the Wii u (which is gratis – the real word for free) are somehow morons and complainers.

    No if my friend asks me to play NHL or destiny with him games I spent money in digitally I am literally held to ransom by Sony to play with my friend. In the case of destiny it has uninstall value digitally without plus. Share play doesn’t even work properly the majority of the time, and the rest of the multiplayer is inferior. If you played on pc and og Xbox live you would have a clue.

    So no we are not subbing to streamer league girls or watching hitbox. It’s so odd that steam and Blizz online is strictly better than psn for free on my pc, or even on my ipad for hearthstone, what a mystery that is.

    Held hostage for inferior service full stop.

      The difference being I’m not the one whining about it like an entitled brat. I have no issues with online on psn when myself and the people I’m playing with aren’t using crappy wireless and/or internet.
      I also have had at least one game every month on PS+ that I end up playing for at least 2-3 weeks. That alone makes the $5 worth it. I’ve spent $60 on games on steam that I didn’t play for more than three days. I also don’t mind subbing $5 to a streamer who provides me with a month of entertainment as opposed to spending $15 for an hour and a half movie. It’s all in how you place the value on your entertainment.
      I also play on pc (blizzard and steam included) and they have major issues as well depending on whether the game has dedicated servers or uses p2p. I think it’s also funny you mention Blizzard who charges subscription fees for their dedicated servers (3x as much as PSN) PC gaming is far from perfect and you know it.
      Again the main argument here is it’s all in how you place the value of your money spent. Noone is “holding you hostage.” You bought the system and agreed to the terms of service of your own volition. Stop playing the victim card and maybe use that $5 a month to buy your own clue.

      Also for the record, Hearthstone would have a subscription fee if blizzard didn’t fund their servers with micro-transactions. EA Origin and Uplay would also have to charge subs if they didn’t make you sign a TOS that allowed them to data mine the crap out of you and sell that info to marketing companies. Also Destiny doesn’t use dedicated servers and a p2p system which is why so many people complain about connections. Dedicated servers are one of the highest requested features for Destiny 2. That’s all on Bungie, not on PSN. But again, I’m the one without a clue, right? :D

    Curious,, after reading sooo many comments saying the same thing about “Value”
    *If you add up the games the amount of money is/was expensive..
    BUT these are games I wouldn’t buy save for small %..
    **This is why Nintendo succeeding benefits all of us
    as it will force Microsoft and Sony
    to step it up…

    **Anyone know what resell value my Vita has?
    soo expensive for something that never gets used.

    I wish they’d give you a list of games that you could pick and choose from. Like 6 ps4 games, but you can only pick 2. I am paying for this, so the option of choice would be nice. Most of my friends have NEVER downloaded a PS Plus game because none of the games offered have interested them. The last one I played and enjoyed was Rocket League.

      Sorry to tell you, we already got Sleeping Dogs a couple of years ago. Back when PS+ was awesome, every single month. Micro$oft is still way behind $ony, but they’re catching up fast.

    I’ve had my PS4 with Plus since early October, and I have yet to understand all the complaints about the game offerings. For a gamer like me coming into this generation late, all the offerings have been nice so far! Each one has been a game I’ve never tried. While I could be like everyone else and whine about a lack of AAA offerings, instead I’m thankful to be playing something new and different. Aside from Invisible Inc., I’ve liked every offering.

    And like others have said, the deals for Plus members are awesome! I’ve bought a lot of games and saved a lot of money to boot. Keep up the good work, Sony!

      This is exactly the point of this program. To introduce new & old gamers to games they may have missed.

      The only thing I would do to improve the program (as well as Xbox Live’s Game’s with Gold) is to offer more games with sequels coming out. For example, God of War is Playstation’s big game this year – so I would encourage Sony to release the God of War HD trilogy for free before then, to get more gamers who never played God of War to enjoy it before the sequel arrives. It’s just smart marketing.

    No one cares how you place your value. If you enjoy plus and love the value say so and move on.

    All of us long time players have the right to comment and critique the value in a constructive way.

    The blog tells us this and asks for people to not make personal attacks etc. You see the value in “spending $60 on steam games you never play and subbing on twitch” that’s your business and it has nothing to do with the arguments I am making here.

    Sony doesn’t use dedicated servers so not sure why you make that straw man argument. You imply I am cheap and stupid, yet I have been buying Sony systems and games since psx, it’s not a question of not being willing to spend.

    I want a better online service for PS4 and I don’t want to support PS3 or vita anymore both of which I own, because Sony are not supporting them well and it hurts the only way to get multiplayer for PS4.

    Shouldn’t you be watching twitch right now instead of playing the movies and games you bought?

    First Tuesday of each month when they publish. Sometimes you can search early for the titles, you can also queue to your PS4 from work etc from the ps app or the web store. Make sure your PS4 is set for remote wake up and you can literally look online, queue the stuff get home and try it out. Those are good features.

    The publish times vary for the store update but they have been a lot better with that this past year(2016). You should be expecting 4-6pm pacific time.

    Sometimes this means ps+ games go live almost a week into the month but this is how they always have done it. The 3rd is on the good end of it, relatively.

    These people saying things like: “I don’t get it, why would you be upset, I pay not for free games, I pay for great multiplayer, Sony need money to maintain the servers and I’m glad to help them with that” don’t really get it. When you pay $50 and you are promised at least 2 games every month for free, good multiplayer and cloud saving option, you expect to get the max for the money. Well, Sony does not quite deliver. Let’s compare the offers on the market…We have xbox live gold, same $50, but here you get more 4 games…cause, you know…Xone got backwards compatibility with x360, which has really great game library. And you get really good multiplayer experience, while ps plus can’t quite keep up. So why should we not be worried about Sony’s attitude towards us – it’s customers. We are like the only reason this company still exist. SCE feel too much safe on the market, making it too lazy.

    So tired of all this complaining. 24 games a year for 60 bucks, I’d say that’s a fair trade. No one is going to like every game, we all have various likes and dislikes. Just because you don’t like a game doesn’t make it bad, it’s just not for you. Try them out…if you don’t like them move on. Simple.

    Im excited for This War Of Mine. It looked cool and I was considering buying it. Now its going to be FREE! YESSS! The tentical game is probly going to be stupid. Let it Die is cool but sucks because it makes you delete 50 GB of games for a 2 GB update!

    I keep seeing “Why complain about FREE games?!” all over these comments. How exactly is paying $60 a year “free”? And I can agree with a lot of the crappy games sentiment since it seems like PS+ has really dropped in terms of the quality of games that they used to offer IMO.

    People should realise that games you are allowed to play every month with PS+ subscription are NOT free. You are actually paying for it. Therefore you are buying them. So there is nothing valid about “you have them for free”. This war of mine and Day of the Tentacle can be bought for price lower then subscription cost on PC and not for just a month. Sure, its for pc but these games are not hardware demanding so you can play them on anything. Now all of you, who are defending sony, tell me why this months deal is sooo great…

    Highly satisfied this month, I hope they keep this up.
    For all the downers, just Day of the Tantacle is a great game, I don’t even understand why people complain.
    Yeah, some may not find it good simply because of their own taste in games. But you honestly have to appriciate the fact that they gave us that game for free.
    I mean, I paid money for it just about a month ago, kinda sucks to get it for free now. (hehe)
    But even if you don’t like it, it isn’t a crappy game, and I am not in favor of this month because I like this game. I am not biased.

    Just seeing all of the other games made me excited, and if you guys call this month ******, compare it to the last month, which was horrible to probably everyone except for vita players (totally my opinion).

    Again, I can’t stress this enough, if you are upset at this month because of Day of the Tentacle, then I have one thing to say:

    GIVE IT A SHOT.

    It seems i can’t actually download titan souls, becuase when I click on the page, it comes up with 22.95. Im not sure whether it is because ps vita is free, not ps4, or its is a bug, but I cant do it on the web store or the ps4 store. Is this just me, or is that part of the thing. Please help!
