A New Year and a new set of games coming to PlayStation Plus members! This month we have the excellent Day of the Tentacle Remastered and This War of Mine: The Little Ones.

First up, we have the zany Day of the Tentacle Remastered. This is a mind-bending, time traveling, puzzle adventure in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world. Originally released in 1993, this remastered game is a classic and not be missed.

Now, if you are looking for something a bit more serious, look no further than This War of Mine: The Little Ones. Play as a group of civilians trying to survive in a city under siege while struggling to collect food and medicine. Make life-and-death choices driven by your conscience, while dealing with the constant dangers of war.

    Pretty excited to try these two games out, especially This War of Mine. I was pretty satisfied with Stories and didn’t even think it would be a game I would need in my otherwise small game collection. (Also that narrator is such a nerd)

    Meh lineup I see.
    Although I have little to no interest in these games…with the exception of DoTT, I understand others may be interested but no one can deny that the lineup of games has been shoddy. I’m hoping that 2017 won’t drown us in indie/non-AAA titles as 2016 did.
    I’m burned out and disappointed in overflow of meh titles given as part of the PS+ service.

    Also, Tim Schafer may be considered an industry icon for his past, nowadays he is a **** and a shady one at best.
    Never give your money to him, as I feel he is pretty much a scammer nowadays, stay in the past and remember him for what he was and not put faith in trying to relive the past believing he will deliver what he hopes to achieve.

    yeaaaah…. i wont be re-upping my subscription come february…. i feel like the amount of free games that are throw away titles is WAY disproportionate to when i had 360 gold plan. sorry sony, i love you but you come weak w your free titles

    What’s the point of complaining ?? If more than 95% of ps4 owners pay for ps plus… Then it’s obvious that they are smart enough to pay primarily for the online and not the free game collection. I love the fact that it’s a mystery of what games are going to be chosen, most of all I’m even. More happy that it’s more than likely going to be I’ve NEVER played before. Want aaa games? BUY THEM!!!

      Did you know that there was a study a few times asking the ps4 community ” would you still pay for PlayStation plus if the IGC would no longer be supported ?” 92% said yes on the overall study.

    For the first time in a while I’m really excited about the free game line up! I have so many great memories of playing Day of the Tentacle and was planning on buying it! This War of Mine looks like a fun challenge.

    OMG! The attitudes, ignorance, lambness and plain stupidity in the comments is mind bobbling.
    THE GAMES ARE NOT FREE!! YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM!!! Stop being jerks and trying to argue otherwise!
    The line up is a big disappointment, yet again. These constant disappointments with the monthly games, the Fallout 4 mod support fiasco and the general attitude of Sony towards it’s paying customers is something that is making me seriously considering to switch back to being a PC gamer.
    To be honest, only reason I have PS4 is because I got it for free and my Fanatec wheel works with it, at least in some games. There is no way I am going to to trash my 600€ Fanatec and buy another one, just because Micro$oft or Sony decides that their new console wont support my perfectly good and up to par equipment witch is many ways superior compared to the plastic crap they sell as ‘official wheels’ for their systems.

    Ok what the hell …. last month was crap games this month is free crap again . You would think when people get their ps4 and must get a ps plus accout especially around the holiday season you would put some good titles as free so when u sign up for plus you see value in it and you get happy customers . Last month was garbage and this month garbage . Give us something to see value in ps plus . Stop with the indie crap

    Hi, does everyone have the full line up? The swindle and titan souls aren’t available to me. I have had to search the store for the free games before as they don’t always show in the ps plus section. However this time when I search Swindle and Titan don’t appear at all let alone for free :(

    Thank you Sony for giving us free games each month, truth be told even if most of them are indies I doubt I’d even have given them a chance but now that I’ve downloaded a few I find myself prusing the Indies section of the PlayStation Store to find a gem. And although you can’t make everyone happy, please know that quite a few of us are very happy. With the service, with the games offered each month and with the PlayStation Brand

      You pay $70 a month for it, they’re not “free” games. It’s also hard not to complain when xbox is getting way better titles and pc players don’t even have to pay to play online.

    Does anyone notice how Xbox give big titles when they are a little older, which is what I think Sony should do, though they do give some good games like Nba 2k whatever.

      ’cause the Sony also know these lineups bad (in contrast to the high price of ps plus)

      never forget these “free games” are actually not free just like any kind of games (ps plus also cost money and the price getting bigger and bigger while the value of the free lineups getting smaller and smaller)

    Seriously disappointed (again) with this month’s free games. I don’t mind indie games but if playstation is going to keep giving us stuff like this I might just end up switching back to xbox. With the recent price increase I had expected to be getting better quality games but it’s just gotten worse. I wish there was a subscription option without the free games and deals every month that was half the price.

    people arent enjoying the games. we want games that are fun to play and not those titles from december and january.
    we want better games and better indiegames which are fun to play.
    we want games like

    mad max, evil within, gravity rush, assassins creed, need for speed, dragon age, resident evil 0, 4, 5, knack, killzone, walking dead season 1, walking dead michonne, the last of us, rayman legends, trials fusion and so many old more games

    or better indiegames which are fun like
    hotline miami 2, shovel knight, escapist walking dead, goat simulator, alienation, trine 3, mega man collection, Axiom Verg, hyper light drifter, tetris, firewatch and inside

    Raised ps plus price to 70 and still boring, mobile like games… Sever has improve much. Ps4 pro? Let’s not even go there… I have two years left on ps plus but it’s not worth it at all…

    Another mediocre month for PS3 owners. With so many classics on the platform, like Red Dead Redemption, I can’t beleieve Sony can’t find something for us who do not migrated to PS4 yet but are PAYING for the Plus even if on this platform we don’t need it for online play.
    Sad.

    the ps plus games from the last two months arent fun, thats the main problem. they are not fun to play. there are so many cheap games to choose from and they bring us those games, to be honest i have zero fun with them. when you die in titan souls, you always need to go the whole way back to the boss room, its really annoying. swindle has bad controls and its not fun to play, the same with the other games, this war of mine is to repetitive. why cant they just give us better indiegames like hotline miami 2, shovel knight, escapist walking dead, goat simulator, alienation, trine 3, party hard, mega man collection, Axiom Verge, hyper light drifter, tetris, firewatch and inside or AAA titles like mad max, evil within, gravity rush, assassins creed, need for speed, dragon age, resident evil 0, 4, 5, knack, killzone, sleeping dogs, murdered soul suspect, walking dead season 1, walking dead michonne, the last of us, rayman legends, trials fusion and so many old games

      I agree that the titles are a bit lackluster but Rayman Legends (PS4) and Gravity Rush (PS3) have been on PS+ already unless you are referring to Gravity Rush Remastered.

    PlayStation plus subscription should include PSNOW since you guys bumped up the price 10 dollars more. I’m not paying for two different services. The only time they should charge PSNOW individually is if you don’t have playstation plus.

    Come on playstation, fix up no one wants to play indie games. We want at least one proper game like Killzone which is quite old now, every 2 months. To be honest it it wasn’t for the need of playstation plus to access online I bet no one would renew their membership as it is trash since the games we get are really bad. Fix up please!!!

      “no one wants to play indie games” Quite an incorrect statement. I’ve loved some of the indie games. Sure, some aren’t great, but there’s typically at least one good game a month for the most part. Maybe actually play the game instead of trashing it because its an indie game.

    Ya know i dont do puzzle games i dont do indie titles i did stories it was a ok game but seriously ppl keep saying oh they are free games ummmm no they are not your plus runs out bye-bye games so them being free is bs u want ppl to keep plus oh that price raise was bs and still getting in my opinion crap games the only reason i have plus is to play online which is bs ppl do not use the mics and i think the online community here is trash just random thoughts and ive been using saved up monthly trials so haven’t paid for plus but yeah we need atleast every 2 months a triple a title not asking for a brand new 1 but we are in years now on this console generation no excuse to be pandering to one demographic

    I’m going to have to side with the people saying the line ups haven’t been good for a long while. The people white knighting and defending these games seem to be either, kids who dont care as much because its mommy and daddy’s money being spent or new gen gamers who the ps4 is their first console so they dont have the experience to compare on. OR.. (in rare cases people who genuinely just enjoy these types of games. that’s fair enough everyone has their tastes). Im mostly addressing the ones here who openly bash and attack anyone for saying anything critical about the offerings. Some of you do realize there are those of us who don’t live in a communist country and we have the right to speak our opinion right? Some of us work very hard for the money we earn and if we’re paying for a service shouldn’t the offerings be at least up to our expectations? My point is that the fact that some of you try to hush and attack people who have every right to complain about something they are PAYING for seems very asinine. And before that one keyboard warrior jumps on trying to flame me. please notice i wrote “SOME” not all.

      One could also say that technically you are only paying for the online service and that Sony has no responsibility to offer you any free games at all and at any point in time could just decide to take away the program and all the free games given thus far so there’s that.

      Besides this is mostly a way for studios that have more niche titles or up and coming studios to get their work out in the wild and have a guaranteed amount of money gained by making such deals with Sony.

    Im extremely unhappy with the games we have been getting for ps4 the past few months!!! Haven’t got a game worthy of playing since october. Did get a couple nice discounts on a few games for sale, but it was basically the black friday sale repeted after xmas. I dont think the raise in price is justified with the games we have received. Its hard not to feel deceived with the promise of bigger and better games in exchange for the price raise still not being fulfilled. If it dosent change by the end of my membership and we dont start getting better games, then im going to cancel and just save my content on a flash drive, because im basically just paying for the online storage which is not worth the price

    I’m as “hardcore” as it gets.. go ahead and check my trophy list for credentials. I heard This War of Mine was good but never was gonna spend my money on it, so I’m grateful I get to play it now. But Day of the Tentacle is not garbage you simple children.. easily one of my favorite games of all time and I’m thrilled to get to play it again after all these years. I don’t know what all the whiners are on about.. if you want Tomb Raider or whatever then save the money you’d have spent renewing PS+ and buy that game. The entitlement is out of control every month with these games. Buy the AAA games you want and play the freebies you are given that you would have otherwise never have spent money on. Grow as a gamer, try new genres.

    I can’t believe we didn’t get BF1 free this month. It’s absurd.

    I would accept an AAA. Maybe even an AA title. Hell even an A title. Even a BBBBBBBBBBBB title but this!?| Again?

    How can you do this to ME.

    These ‘indie’ games are worthless trash and the people who make them should probably kill themselves because I refuse to try anything different.

    lol so bad, my year of plus ran out the month before. So glad I didnt renew. Yes Sony, your horrible plus game choices month after month made me not sign up again, GJ.

    The games themselves are not the worst in the world, but they are nearly always niche market indie stuff and far from AAA which you never offer. If you constantly offer games most would not buy in the first place, then it feels like getting basically nothing month after month.

    So, I know, DotT is a great game. Tim Schafer is a big name, I loved Full Throttle… But I played it like 10 years ago on an old PC. If I buy a PS4, I at least expect games that make the money I spent on such a powerful console worth spending. I don’t expect to have FFXV, Overwatch or Titanfall II, but at least some AAA games once in a while, like bi-monthly maybe?

    Finally I’m free from PS Plus! Last year I forgot to cancel the auto-renew device. Now I will focus on finish my single player games until they throw a worth game for me. I have a ton of single player only games that deserves more attention. That’s the time! See ya online after a couple of months! lol

    This is a pretty weak opening to the beginning of the year. I didn’t buy a $400 console to play a game I can play on my phone. There hasn’t been a decent new game released in months, not just on PS plus but on Playstation 4 system in general.

    Also, being able to play a Vita game on the PS4, doesn’t make it a PS4 game. FURTHER more, why can’t I play ALL the PS vita games on my PS4? I downloaded some a while back, but am not allowed to play it on my PS4. WHY? What kind of set up is that?! The hardware could obviously handle it.

    PS plus isn’t worth it anymore. If the free games are almost alway a disappointment then $70 is way out of line for online access. Even the discounts don’t amount to much, it just encourages people to waste money. They’re never on new games, just on much older ones that probably SHOULD be a PS plus free game. I’m hesitant to even buy games online anymore considering the unbearably slow download times and the disturbing fact that I don’t actually OWN the game, and Sony could come reclaim it from my system on a whim.

    If Sony ends up ever making a new console I probably won’t be getting it. My plan is to just ride out what I have now and start building a gaming PC the year.

      A lot of Vita games aren’t ported. I don’t see games like Persona 4 Golden ever going to the PS4. It’s supposed to give some incentive to buy the Vita.

    Titan Souls isn’t a bad game, but the rest… I’m not so excited for the others. Granted, I don’t have a PS4 still and my primary system being played at the moment is the Playstaton Vita. And the only good discounted game this month is Q*Bert Rebooted. I do get that Sony doesn’t care about the Vita anymore, but come on. The PS3 games aren’t great here either.

    The problem is, it shouldn’t cost to play online multiplayer. It’s free to play online multiplayer on PC. It used to be free on PS3.
    PS3 IGC was absolutely worth it. To say that we have a choice for PS Plus we do not. Anyone who wants to play online needs it.
    IGC should be as it always was, a collection of games to sweeten the deal. I like indie games as much as the next guy, but I don’t see any valid reason for Sony not to mix in Indie Games with some mainstream titles. Those of us who have has subs since the PS3 have an expectation and yes, an entitlement, and I do mean entitlement, to some good quality games.
    While indie games can certainly be quality, the ones being offered in the last 6 months have cheapened the service when compared to Xbox Live offerings.
    It does feel as if Sony are giving the 2 fingers to its customers.
    Again it doesn’t cost to play online on PC and shouldn’t cost online for console. Without decent free games, it really looks bad on Sony

    First comment ever on this blog. Hi. I sold my ps4 about 5 or 6 months ago and discontinued my PS+ membership. I’ve been gaming strictly on my Xbox1 since then and holly **** I’ve have it good. I play BF1 strictly on the xbone but the free games I got are pretty sick. AAA title after another, all in the same month! I love PS and always will but the fact is, Microsoft is not in the market of giving free indie new games every month like Sony. I’ve considered renewing my PS+ membership for the free titles but stuff like this is definitely not appealing in any way. I’ll just wait until I purchase a PS4Pro. PS Sony Library is amazing and us gamers deserve the chance to replay them if we pay a monthly premium. My Thoughts.
